A real GOOD feel and entertaining movie that has everything in it. Mind you the acting isn't all that great but the music and dancing sure does make up for it. You get to see how the "Lambada" should actually be danced.....no wonder they call it the forbidden dance!

Get a copy of the movie and check it out yourself. You will not be disappointed. I had the VHS version which was getting worn out and was keeping my fingers crossed waiting for DVD version to be released.....WoW and it has been.....so do what I did...just BUY it. AAA for value!

Lambada has its heart in the 1950s and the rest of its anatomy in the 1980s. It's a Jerry Bruckheimer production, like Flashdance, in all but name. Kevin, a.k.a. "Blade" (J. The Movie L is looking for is The Forbidden Dance......... I enjoyed, both those movies as well as Salsa. This movie is a little cheesey but when you are ten and watching it, who cares!!!!

I was looking for a "Lambada", a bright Brazilian movie,
with the catching Brazilian flavor and dancing.

Instead... they sell a castrated American "adaptation"
even without a famous theme song!

I was never a professional dancer, but always loved to dance. I guess that's at least one reason why I love to watch dancers perform almost any type of dance. That's certainly why I tend to buy so many moves sight unseen if they even suggest that I'll see lots of dancing.

What can I say? I was expecting a lot from Lambada, but the movie let me down in a big way. In my humble opinion, the movie is more about smut that strut with not nearly enough dancing. The movie was extremely boring with a very weak plot. I can usually take that if the dancing is strong and the music is grand. This movie lacked both. Truly disappointing.

Hi! If you're into all sorts of dance and music videos, then you'll definately want to buy or rent this movie. I love the Lambada dance and the ethnic background it has so I LOVE the movie. The other Lambada movie is my favorite though. It has to do with a Brazilian girl making money dancing the Lambada in a club. GO WATCH the movie. it's a definate watch!!!! You wont regret.

Basic dance instruction from 1980s.......2006-08-24

This dvd was definitely done in the late 80s or very early 90s by looking at the garnish lighting, camerawork, makeup & clothing.
This is taught in about 50 min by a blonde, athletic, nicely spoken dancer with about 4 couples demonstrating the moves after every major point is taught. She teaches the basic step, lambada step, slide, turning & dipping.
It wasn't too boring, I definitely almost felt transported to a dance studio. The dance itself isn't hard to understand at all, an easy splice of merange, shuffling w/a lot of hip action & the man rubbing the woman's back instead of just holding it to make it look more complex then it is.
Becasue of it being old & production lightning is a little garnish (thouch can see everything) I took off a star. The teaching wasn't too slow & could have been a lot more cheesy & boring so I left most stars.
