Directed with consummate skill by Terence Young, the second James Bond spy thriller is considered by many fans to be the best of them all. Certainly Sean Connery was never better as the dashing Agent 007, whose latest mission takes him to Istanbul to retrieve a top-secret Russian decoding machine. His efforts are thwarted when he gets romantically distracted by a sexy Russian double agent (Daniela Bianchi), and is tracked by a lovely assassin (Lotte Lenya) with switchblade shoes, and by a crazed killer (Robert Shaw), who clashes with Bond during the film's dazzling climax aboard the Orient Express. From Russia with Love is classic James Bond, before the gadgets, pyrotechnics, and Roger Moore steered the movies away from the more realistic tone of the books by Ian Fleming. --Jeff Shannon
Customer Reviews:
One of the best 007 movies!.......2007-06-28
Along with Goldfinger, this is probably the best of the early James Bond films. Sean Connery was excellent in it. The story and the cast is great. The fight scene on the train between Connery and Shaw is worth the price alone! A face paced, well thought out and entertaining film.
From Russia With Love.......2007-06-27
This stylish second entry in the Bond franchise features a less cold-blooded, more dashing 007, played to the hilt with campy savoir faire by the ever-classy Connery. Young streamlines the action, too, and in the absence of fancy gadgets (those came later), gave audiences thrilling, well-orchestrated chases and clashes, culminating in a heart-racing death match between Connery and deadly, dyed-blond assassin Shaw aboard the Orient Express. The kittenishly seductive Romanova is fetching as Bond's dicey love interest, but German chanteuse Lenya has the most fun springing poisonous blades from her shoes. Racy, exhilarating, and loads of fun, "Love" breathes flashy new life into Ian Fleming's classic novel.
The Bond movie that started a craze.......2007-06-27
From Russia With Love set the stage for all the James Bond movies that followed. With an excellent startup from Dr. No, James Bond gets into full swing battling SPECTRE up and down Europe, and has one of the best Bond fights on the Orient Express. Beautiful women, tough bad guys and just the right amount of Bond toys make it one of the best James Bond movies of them all!
An excellent addition to the Bond franchise........2007-06-16
Brimming with tension, suspense, and understated cool, From Russia with Love is one of the very best movies in the entire James Bond series. The plot, which revolves around the criminal organization SPECTRE and its attempt to steal a Soviet codemaking machine by manipulating and ultimatley murdering a certain British secret agent (guess which one), is clever and engrossing. Part of the movie's charm comes from simply watching SPECTRE's plan unfold. The film is also incredibly atmospheric: Bond travels to a lush, decedant Istanbul before heading back west on a train trip that hangs heavy with mystery and paranoia.
Sean Connery is, of course, incredible. To put it plainly, the guy simply IS James Bond. He's in complete command of the character, playing his role with absolute confidence, brimming with wit, charm, and ruthless intelligence. Connery's Bond is mesmerizing, his performance a masterpiece. The rest of the cast is fantastic as well: Lotte Lenya is unforgettable as the brutal Colonel Rosa Kleb, playing her part with relentless authority and barely subdued insanity. Ditto for Robert Shaw, whose portrayal of ruthless assassain Donald "Red" Grant is fiery and intense. Shaw turns his charater into an omen, a source of constantly escalating tension and nervous energy. Pedro Armendariz is superb as the exuberant, friendly, and loveable Kerim Bey, who befriends and assists Bond in Istanbul. The film also contains the first appearance of Desmond Llewelyn as Q, one of the series' most beloved characters (he'd appear in every subsequent Bond film until 1999's The World is Not Enough).
Throw in John Berry's tension-filled soundtrack and some of the sharpest one-liners ever found in a Bond film and you've got an absolute classic, and one of the finest entries in an excellent series.
One of the best of the entire series.......2007-04-08
A favorite of many Bond fans and filmmakers alike is this second entry into the EON Bond film canon (a separate production company had produced Fleming's CASINO ROYALE for American television CBS in the 1950s). Alongside 1969s ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE as one of the more faithful movie adaptations of the Fleming book this movie is disliked by some for its slower pace and less fantastical plot and adored by others for precisely the same reasons.
I suppose it all depends on what you are looking for in a Bond movie. For it was not until the next entry in the series in 1964s GOLDFINGER that the movies budgets ballooned and took on the more recognizable Bond-movie shape of fantastic world domination plots, cartoonish action and over-the-top villains. Here, we have a more quiet down-to-earth plot involving extortion and revenge, but its carefully woven plot makes the movie just as thrilling and the action just as compelling.
There are some deviations from the plot of the Fleming novel, but nothing that detracts too seriously from what is the most important element here - the story and characterization. For example in the book Flemings villains was the real-life Soviet agency SMERSH, which is changed to the fictional private organization SPECTRE (which Fleming created along with Kevin McClory for a failed movie script after he had written the novel on which this movie is based.) No doubt the filmmakers decided to change the villain for political reasons as well as to develop the recurring villain mentioned in passing in the first of the EON movies (1962s DR. NO).
The plot concerns SPECTRE's attempts to use British intelligence to steal a valuable Soviet decoder, blackmail British intelligence and murder British agent James Bond in revenge for the loss of their agent Dr. No.
In order to pull off this audacious scheme, SPECTRE's Col. Rosa Klebb (brilliantly played by Lotte Lenya) enlists the aid of Russian clerk Tatiana Romanova who believes that she is working for the KGB. Romanova is chosen for her beauty as a lure for James Bond and the Lektor decoder as a lure for 007 and British intelligence. Indeed the ploy works to perfection as we witness later the disinterest of 007 change to amiable interest after being shown a picture of Romanova.
Following the traditional gunbarrel sequence we are given our first true precredits sequence. In the first movie the gunbarrel went straight into the credits sequence, but here we are treated to a mini-adventure in what would become a standard trademark for the series. James Bond is on the hunt, or is he the hunted? Stalking around a garden in the middle of the night when all of a sudden Bond is set upon by a giant man (played to perfection by the always excellent Robert Shaw.) Who then pulls a wire from his watch and garrotes the British agent. The sequence serves as a foreshadowing of a scene towards the end of the movie and is also the first instance in which the audience is tricked into believing that 007 has been killed. In the future 007 movies 1967s YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE and the rogue movie 1983s NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN this ploy would also be used. Sure enough following the death of "James Bond" the lights go up revealing a big estate house (actually a house on the backlot of Pinewood Studios) and it is revealed as a SPECTRE training session with a man posing as 007.
Shaw is excellent as Red Grant. Even today over 40 years later he regularly tops the list among Bond fans as a favorite villain. He plays the role with understated deliberate menace and the fight scene on the orient express (which is usually cut down for television) is brutal and frenetic. Similar scenes of fighting on a train have been repeated in later Bond movies but none have quite matched this one.
Other elements that would become a series trademark also make their first appearances in this picture. We have the introduction of a real bona fide gadget and the first screen appearance of the actor who would become famous for introducing James Bond to all manner of incredible gizmos while in real-life being the most un-mechanically minded of people - the late Desmond Llewelyn.
Here Bond is equipped with a briefcase with such hidden qualities as a knife that protrudes out of the side, coinage for bribing enemy agents and a innocent looking bottle of talc that is actually tear gas for disabling prying eyes who open the case the wrong way. Of course all of these help save 007 later on in the movie (strange how he always seems to have just what he needs for any eventuality).
Overall then we have a taut, well-crafted James Bond movie with standout performances from all the principal actors. Of particular note is the Mexican actor Pedro Armendáriz who plays the Turkish British agent Kerim Bey. There seems to be a genuine friendship between Bond and this amiable rogue, a chemistry similar to that between Bond and Columbo in the 1981 movie FOR YOUR EYES ONLY.
With a travelogue feel that was a feature of the early movies, this was after all before the holiday shows and Discovery Channel documentaries on different areas of the world. And some compelling action (though on a smaller scale than later scenes the fight between Bond and Klebb with the latter wielding a poisoned tipped shoe is white knuckle stuff). This is a movie that should be on everyone's must-see list.

Action anti-hero Jason Statham is competing with himself to make the most relentless, non-stop action flick imaginable. In Crank, Statham stars as a hit man named Chev Chelios who's been poisoned by some Chinese toxin; the only way to stave it off is to keep his adrenalin flowing, which requires him to drive at top speeds through crowded traffic, start fights in bars, and run pell-mell down hospital corridors while wearing one of those humiliating smocks that tie in the back. In other words, Crank is high-end pop-trash, filled with many preposterous/ingenious stunts and over-the-top performances (Dwight Yoakam, Sling Blade, is downright droll as a doctor offering Chev assistance), marred by an unpleasant attitude towards women (Amy Smart, Outside Providence, will not look back on this as one of her signature roles). This is a movie for the audience who enjoyed Transporter and Transporter 2 but wanted Statham's perpetual scowl to become a kind of theatrical mask, a perpetual signifier of intensity that begs--nay, demands--that everything around it rise to a mutual level of absurdity. Fans of Luc Besson (Leon/The Professional, District 13) will find Crank to be simpatico. --Bret Fetzer

A professional hit man (Jason Statham) is poisoned and has only hours to live. He has some big tasks to accomplish before the grim reaper arrives.
Customer Reviews:
Good little action movie.......2007-06-16
This movie was what id expect- a nonstop action movie with little value. Jason Statham is a great action star in my eyes. He was great in The Transporter and is a highly enjoyable movie series. Id recommend this movie to people who like action movies, but dont look for a meanings. Also check out the Transporter series.
Crank.......2007-05-22
When I first saw this movie Crank, I though it was kind of stupid and wasn't worth it, that's because I only saw half of the movie. Then the second time when I watched from the beginning to the end I thought it was ok I'll give the movie about 3 1/2 stars. The scenes I enjoyed watching was when Chev was in the cab and the radio was playing "Achky breaky heart". I didn't like the Chinatown scene, they could have did away with that scene, I think the directors went a little to far with that.
Never mind some people, this film is the SH--.......2007-05-14
An hour and a half over pure intensity and action. I have no idea why someone wouldn't like this film. These are the people who would just die in the same situation. Crapped themselves and died. Awesome! Intense! Ends the way it should end.
Very fun party movie!.......2007-05-09
This movie is not a serious action flick. It's a silly comedy/action that uses low budget special effects which reminds you not to take the film seriously. You don't have to pay attention to the plot; you can drink beers and talk to your buddies throughout the whole thing and not get lost. If you like to laugh at action, drugs, sex, and violence, this is a good film for you.
Crank.......2007-05-07
This is a fantastic movie, alot of action, it will keep you on the edge of your seat through the whole movie

Kurt Russell reprises his role as Snake Plissken, of the near-future thriller Escape from New York, in this reworking of that film's basic premise. Instead of New York being a maximum-security prison, this time it's L.A., which through the agency of earthquakes has become an island of the damned. This penal colony is where the film's future rulers, something very like the Moral Majority, send those deemed guilty of "moral crimes." But something has gone wrong in this new moral order, because the President's daughter has absconded to L.A. with a detonation device, and Snake is commandeered to retrieve it. The film's dark dystopia, with its satrical elements taking aim at our dwindling freedoms, and the eclipsing of democracy by narrow interests, are more the subject this time. As a result the action suffers, and the plot devices are sometimes weak and predictable. But just below the surface there is a coiled Snake ready to strike. Steve Buscemi's performance as a weasely hawker of L.A. tour maps is a standout, and the presence of Peter Fonda and Pam Grier adds to the fun. In fact, just the sight of Fonda surfing down the flooded corridor of Sunset Boulevard is reason enough to check this movie out. --Jim Gay
Customer Reviews:
THE REDUX.......2007-06-19
A REGRETTABLE FILM,WE NEED TO FORGET IT !AND PRETEND THIS ONE WAS A BAD DREAM.
Remake, not a sequel........2007-05-18
Although it was very entertaining seeing Russell reprise his Plissken character, the movie itself was a letdown. Same scenario: Snake captured, injected w/ life-threatening drug, forced to perform for the president, infiltrating former US metropolis that now houses the country's undesirables, escapes just in time, mission accomplished, gets last word, the end. The only thing that was different from its predecessor was the addition of cheesy special effects and campy scenes (Snake on a surfboard, anyone ? Gimme a break!) If this was meant to be some kind of parody of the first film (which is, obviously, farrrrr superior), then Carpenter and Russell succeeded. What were they thinking ??
The Snake Man Cometh............2007-01-08
Okay, the rating above is not going to be liked but I have to be truthful.
The only good thing going for this movie was the return of "Snake Plissken".
This film's plot was essentially a rehash of the original "Escape From New York"...A bit more special effects (which in fact, did not make this a better movie)...
When I go to a sequel I expect to get what I paid for a totally new adventure with the same character / characters.
Kurt Russell's character is older and even more in the know of what the rewards are before he is offered them.
Obviously the movie doesn't really know where it's going as it takes two scenes (15 minutes of the film) (1st scene - President, Commandant, and Lackey give Snake the mission) (2nd scene - Commandant and Lackey brief Snake before he leaves for the mission) to explan to the audience what's the basic conflict.
I guess either Carpenter or Russell are just getting too old to take a GREAT leap and recount either an earlier Snake Plissken adventure or an adventure well worth telling..
I also wish to comment that this disc has no special features besides a movie trailer...
"Carpenter....Russell! " Please don't tell me "money" caused you to revisit a "cult figure"!
Some redeeming qualities are the acting performances of Cliff Robertson, Stacy Keach, Steve Buscemi, and Pam Grier. Robertson, Keach, and Grier may be old but they can sure make you believe in their characters!
Sorry, Snake...."I don't love L.A."
The-Big-Green-Pointy-Eared-One!
wrong. .......2007-01-06
Peter Fonda and Kurt Russell surfing a wave down a Los Angeles reservoir is not cool, does not make this movie worth a look, good God, that scene stinks. P-U. Campy. This movie is a mess. A horribly made sequel. So bad it actually tarnishes the reputation of the original.
Time waister.......2006-07-28
Sufficient movie to waist a couple hours downtime here in Afghanistan. That's it though!

Three Dorothy L. Sayers mysteries involving amateur sleuth extraordinaire Lord Peter Wimsey and the lovely Harriet Vane are realized to perfection in these 1987 BBC adaptations. In Strong Poison, Harriet (Harriet Walter) is on trial for murder. Lord Peter (Edward Petherbridge) becomes enchanted by her and decides she cannot possibly be guilty. What follows are the twin stories of Lord Peter's search to find the real killer and his romantic pursuit of Harriet. Both are charming. As always, Sayers has plotted her story brilliantly, with a satisfying mystery and a sly comic touch (a gentle poke at the spiritualist movement is particularly fun). The period atmosphere is pulled off naturally and with close attention to detail, and the adaptation has a careful reverence for Sayers's novel. The performances are all remarkably strong. Petherbridge is perfect as Wimsey, revealing his brilliance and allowing him to be hopelessly in love without ever damaging his dignity. Walter plays Harriet with rich nuance, saying as much with her silences as she does with her lines, and Richard Morant is quietly fantastic as the remarkable Bunting.
Harriet, fresh from the trial, tries to get away from it all and ends up stumbling over a recently killed body in Have His Carcass. Unable to resist a crime (or, for that matter, Harriet), Lord Peter is soon on the case. In Gaudy Night, Lord Peter is still proposing at frequent intervals, and Harriet, though unable to say yes, is also unable to send Lord Peter entirely away. But enough with the romance. As Wimsey heads off for some foreign service work, Harriet visits her Oxford alma mater and lands smack in the middle of a poison-pen scandal. Harriet's status as a mystery writer, naturally, means she's the one who should investigate. Sayers clearly had fun writing this one, using Harriet to gently tweak her own profession, at the same time both parodying and defending the cloistered life at a women's college. --Ali Davis

Three elegant murder mysteries adapted from the crime novels of Dorothy L. Sayers which chronicle the relationship of amateur sleuth Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane unfolds in a realm of romance and intrigue. Includes the mysteries: "Strong Poison," "Have His Carcass" and "Gaudy Night."
Customer Reviews:
Good, but could have been better.......2007-05-19
Overall very entertaining and enjoyable.
Strong Poison and Have his Caracass were very nicely done and very entertaining. I was somewhat disappointed by the severe editing done to Gaudy Night. Sayers had a very competent academic background with which she continually challenged the reader. This was reduced to a mere few scenes.
Dorothy Sayers Mysteries(The Lord Peter Wimsey-Harriet Vane Collection.......2007-02-01
Just arrived yesterday, 1/30/07. Enjoyed as much as the books in the series. Always loved English Mystery stories. Well worh the money.
Great DVD Set!.......2006-02-25
The three DVD set of the later Lord Peter Wimsey mysteries is great set and I whole heartdly recommmend adding this to your DVD collections. The three stories presented are very well done by the production company. This is the second Lord Peter series, the first was in the early/mid 1970s and starred Ian Carmichael as Lord Peter. Edward Petherbridge stars as Lord Peter this time and introduces you to Harriet Vane, with whom Lord Peter falls madly in love.
Mr. Petherbridge plays Lord Peter very differently than Ian Carmichael but then in reading the novels Lord Peter does change after he fall for Harriet Vane. I enjoyed these mysteries very much and highly recommed purchasing and enjoying them for many years to come. By the way, if you haven't bought the first series of Lord Peter mysteries this is a good opportunity to get the whole series at once. They are all very good.

Not Ian Carmichael but..........2006-02-03
I like both Lord Peter actors, Ian Carmichael puts the "whimsy" in Lord Peter Wimsey but Edward Petherbridge puts the 'Lord Peter' into his portrayal. Petherbridge reminds the reader that the character is fragile and was seriously shell-shocked during WWI and still suffers delayed stress syndrome -his meeting with Harriet Vane is painful and he is desperate to save her while keeping his arm's distance like a gentleman -at her request. Watching the tortured role played, one can't help thinking that his gentlemanly distance is kept more at his insecurity about his emotional stability. He is strong but is the strength his title and wealth? I think anyone who has read and loved her books will enjoy the intellectual challenge Petherbridge delivers. On another note, Dorothy L. Sayers married Arthur Fleming in 1926, contrary to another reviewer's claim that she never married. For a more complete bio: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorothy_Sayers
Character realization, dialogue flawed.......2006-01-30
Given the warm approval for this series felt by other Amazon reviewers, this review will stick out as a bit contrarian--especially in answering the mystery readers' "Bond question": which actor does it best? I am all for Ian Carmichael and, having just watched his 1970s series back-to-back with the Petherbridge one, can easily state what I think are the flaws of the latter.
Both series effectively reproduce the 1920s for us, but the difference in their approach is apparent from the start, with the theme music: the Petherbridge series has a slow, somewhat romantic but melancholy tune, while the Carmichael one is jaunty and uplifting. Petherbridge himself is, in my opinion, overly earnest and seems dour rather than properly serious or high-minded. He lacks the charm, wit, and sense of humor of the Carmichael portrayal--which of course is partly the fault of the writers, who fail to give him good material to work with. On the other hand, Petherbridge has some responsibililty for that: he never smiles if he can get away with not smiling, looks as if he has a bad smell under his nose most of the time, and rushes through his supposedly humorous lines, as if he doesn't know how to handle them or doesn't think they're humorous. Maybe he's right, but it all makes Wimsey seem rather a prig and a bore, which is the antithesis of the Carmichael portrayal. Above all, Carmichael's Wimsey has a radiant heart, and that's not much in evidence in this series, either in the Wimsey character or in his beloved, Miss Vane.
I am not acquainted with the Vane character from Sayers's work, but Harriet Walters seems well cast. But again--and whether this stems from Sayers or not, I don't know--she is not permitted to be sufficiently charming. One begins to think, watching her gracelessly dismiss Wimsey time and again, that he must be a bit of a masochist. When he finally says, in what passes for an outburst, that he wishes she could "dissemble" sometimes, one cannot help but heartily agree with him. The last thing she says to him in the series just made my jaw drop with its inappropriateness.
Similarly, the Wimsey-Bunter master-manservant relationship is not enjoyable to watch. Richard Morant is fine as Bunter, but Petherbridge gives him a wet-fish handshake in return and makes Bunter seem the better man. Oh dear. The Bunter-Wimsey relationship of the earlier series is much more a partnership in which one sees a genuine bond.
If you are a Sayers fan, I would still recommend these programs, despite these distracting drawbacks. They are somewhat slow-paced but they are certainly atmospheric, and each one is set in a quite different milieu, with lots of interesting characters throughout. But do also view the Carmichael series.

seduction not from 1 movie, but from 3.......2007-04-12

(sigh)(rolls 2d0) I shouldn't have to upvote this kinda stuff..........2007-04-12
IDGI... AMAZON RECCOMENDATIONS ARE USUALLY SO ON-TARGET.
whoever is responsible for recommending THIS to me must've had abou' as much empathic intuition as a bowling ball thas a liiiittle bit oerdosed on crack cocaine or sumethin', if ya' catch my drift..
IDGI...I've always been more of an Ally Sheedy, Short Circuit, Sentimentalist of sorts...(rolling 2d0 again) I only turn to this stuff to distract myself from solitude and mean-spirited, judgmental looks of others...(sigh), its enough to make a grown man...
Skin flicks, anyone?.......2007-03-28
While the first installment with Drew Barrymore is fairly good, the subsequent films are just reasons to get a couple of hot actresses naked. The storyline of Lily has nothing to do with the first one, and only mentions someone named "Ivy" in passing. New Seduction shows the main character being Ivy's sister, Violet. What the two sequels seemed to have missed is that "Ivy" was a nickname given to the main character in the first film and not her actual name...but I digress. Watch the first, then, as another reviewer said, turn down the volume for Parts 2 and 3.
Ignore the Non-Philistine Naysayers.......2007-03-12
It's simple - Jaime Pressly in the hottest thing she ever did. These kinds of films are often all gong and no dinner, but not in the case of "The New Seduction". You'll flip your toupee watching it, or I'll eat my shorts. Also, Ms. Milano makes the second entry watchable. What's that? Don't care for the plot, music, story, acting, etc.? Just turn the sound down and enjoy. Get'chr priorities straight, son.
3 terrible movies, 1 low price........2006-11-09
These 3 awful soft core erotic thrillers are some of the worst movies ever made.
The only reason to watch them is to see a 17 year old Drew Barrymore strut her stuff in the 1st film playing a very bad girl (though she doesn't do any actual nudity, her body double was Jamie Pressly ironically enough.)
The 2nd film has Alyssa Milano looking really nice in the buff.
And the 3rd film has Jamie Pressly discarding her clothing for most of the film.
But as for the films themselves? Terrible.
At least in the 1st film, they seemed to actually be reaching for something more artistic than just exploitative trash, but due to a pathetic script, they ended failing. Didn't register as a blip at all pretty much during it's original theatrical run after the whole Drew-Barrymore-sheds-her-good-girl-image press had run its course.
The filmmakers involved with the 2nd and 3rd films just didn't even try. They were also done as straight-to-video releases.
The films are all 3 shown in their unmatted full frame theatrical ratios, which actually helps as the full frame versions show some more flesh in some scenes.
These are also the more explicit unrated versions of all 3 versions as well. The pointless R rated versions available on the old DVD's have been jettisoned.
Only for super, super hardcore fans of the 3 actresses involved in the films.
There's nothing at all otherwise to be gained from watching these 3 cinematic abominations.

It's easy to identify the biggest attraction of Killing Me Softly: two fetching actors (Heather Graham, Joseph Fiennes) and lots of nudity--especially in the unrated version. It's harder to choose the bigger liability: the dialogue howlers (as Fiennes binds Graham in ropes, she says, "Sometimes I feel like I don't know you") or the incredibly obvious solution to the big mystery. The story is an unofficial update of Hitchcock's Suspicion: a new wife wonders whether her unbelievably charismatic husband might be a murderer. The Chinese filmmaker Chen Kaige (Farewell My Concubine) turns out to be exactly the wrong director for this overheated slice of l'amour fou in London, but with the hopeless pairing of Graham and Fiennes as the passionate lovers, he didn't have much of a chance. A nicely romantic Patrick Doyle score is the only reason not to hit the Mute button and enjoy the visuals. --Robert Horton

4 Stars for a Heather Graham fan........2007-03-20
Yes, just if you really like Heather Graham it is worth 4 stars. This is part of that weird generation of movies with famous Hollywood actresses (Nicole Kidman, Meg Ryan, Halle Berry, etc being NAKED on screen, and by naked I also mean strong sexual situations, not only a shower peek. On the other hand this movie lacked a good Director and it looks like a TV movie or at best a Cinemax production.
Watch it with the sound off¡¡¡.......2006-11-26
Heather is unbeliveble: a beeeeauty, and a good actress. A real strawberry. On the other side is Joseph Finnies. Joseph. Yeap. He's one of the worst actors I ever seen, I can't belive it, seems like a joke, a bad one. A real banana.
The movie is horrible, don't have any sense, the plot seems to be wright by a stupid. But you could watch it without sleep because Heather, who worth the four stars by herself.
HO-HUM.......2006-09-02
A sufficiency of steam, but far from one of Zalman King's best. I agree that the story line was pretty weak.
killing me softly.......2006-07-27
it was great and i recommend it tp people who love passion movies
NICE!!!.......2006-04-05
"Killing Me Softly" is one of those movies that you can't help but like despite the uneven plot and silly twists that come with this kind of movie. Not made for serious film watchers and critics, this movie is more for the MTV generation and is in the same league of "Wild Things" and "Cruel Intentions".
However, as perverted as this may sound, this film easily features some of the best sex scenes ever to be captured in a commerical film. Heather Graham plays Alice. Alice is an American living in England who designs websites and CD roms for a living and lives with Jake. She loves Jake and feels comfortable around him, but overall she's not satisfied. Then in a few seconds her life changes. While crossing a street, she catches the eye of Adam (Joseph Fiennes) and before they've barely uttered a word they're at his apartment having passionate sex. Soon after, she leaves Jake and moves in with Adam and soon after that...She marries him. Everything's great for a while, until disturbing things begin to happen. She recieves letters, meets a woman who claims that Adam raped her, and finds letters from a lover of Adam's who has disappeared. If you have any knowledge of movies, you can pretty much see where this is going. Wife is scared of husband and tries to unravel whether her husband really is a murderer and is simply not satisfied with what she finds, so she delves deeper into the mystery only to discover something a bit more disturbing. Simply insert a couple different names and you have a story that (for the most part) has been told several times before. But, I hate to admit it but I did like this movie and it was worth the 96 minutes I spent watching it. While it's not a classic piece of cinema, it's entertaining. B+

Transporter 2 knows what its audience wants and--like its title character--it delivers. This is a movie that has not only a fight choreographer but also a car stunt choreographer; a movie in which a female assassin wears nothing but a bra and panties because, presumably, additional clothing would be too cumbersome; a movie in which crashing through a concrete wall in order to leap over a four-lane street will not even rumple the hood of the hero's car; a movie in which a drunken supermodel, after her advances are chastely and gently rebuffed by the hero, says "Thanks for the respect--that's what I needed most"; a movie, in short, for those who liked the first Transporter but found it too subdued and character-driven. Jason Statham (The Italian Job) reprises his role as Frank Martin, a perhaps overly diligent chauffer who will break bones if his duty is impeded. The sheer glee with which Transporter 2 casts aside logic, probability, and the laws of physics is infectious. If the sequence in which Frank flips his car upside-down in order to detach the bomb attached to his undercarriage doesn't reduce you to intoxicated giggles, well...you're watching the wrong movie. Transporter 2 is utterly shameless, unstoppably ridiculous, and completely enjoyable. Also featuring Amber Valetta (Hitch), Jason Flemyng (Snatch), and Matthew Modine. --Bret Fetzer
Description
Jason Stratham returns in his signature role as ex-Special Forces operative Frank Martin aka "The Transporter." Now retired from his chosen profession of moving dangerous goods with no questions asked, he makes a living driving for a wealthy family in Miami, Florida. But when their young son is abducted, Frank must use his battle-tested combat skills to save the boy and thwart the kidnapper's nefarious master plan.
Customer Reviews:
still transporting some fun.......2007-07-02
Jason Statham returns again as the cool transporter, this time involved in a less dangerous transporting business - the driver for a wealthy and famous Miami family. The action and choreography are still as cool as the beautiful scenes of Miami, but the characters and CGI useage hurt this sequal just a tad, thus making it slightly less entertaining than the first Transporter.
So on the positive note, Jason Statham is still wonderful in this sequal, fun to watch, and just down right cool to say the least. The action scenes are fun, and there is still some martial arts to please. The story is inetersting - at times - and the cinematogrpahy of beautiful Miami makes one want to starting earning the bucks to live in such a gorgeous place.
On the down side, the charcaters - especially the villains - are not nearly as enjoyable as the first film. The boss is rather average, but its his ridiculously skinny girl, who's always in the heat of action, that is somewhat distracting and not in a pleasant manner, despite her skimpy outfits. The CGI, which was rarely used in the 1st film, is more abundant this time, and is very obvious when used. Some of the action scenes are so wild, only CGI could be used to execute them. Unfortunately, they look too fake at times, especially they airplane which just happens to be the climax scene of the film. It was cool to see Frank (Jason Statham) and the bad guy fight it out inside a plane that was doing loopies, but it also ment no cool choreography for this final fight. Fortunately, there are some other scenes in the film that show off Corey Yuen's great choreographing.
Overall, a good action film that will succed in action entertainment, but don't expect a "great" action film. Jason Statham is the best part of Transporter 2, the rest is average. 3-1/2 stars overall.
Continues the High Action from the Transporter.......2007-05-13
Relax and enjoy the action. Some parts are strange, but good action in general.
This sequal is an ok one........2007-04-17
I really liked the first movie in this series. The second one I liked, but didn't like as much as the first one. This sequel just kept to one story about a little boy that was kidnapped. This movie still holds the action of the first, but I don't think is quiet as strong as the first one. I am a person that does like sequels and likes most, but this one isn't as strong. If you are a Jason Statham fan and you like the action in movies, then I recommend this one. Remember that this sequel doesn't have the "complexity" of the first one.
Completely idiotic, and completely enjoyable.......2007-03-26
If the first Transporter film was a moderate guilty pleasure, then it's sequel is a bona-fide one at that. Jason Statham returns as Frank Martin, an expert driver who is on a different sort of job these days. As a favor, he's escorting the son of a wealthy couple (Matthew Modine, Amber Valletta) who soon becomes the target of a supplier (Alessandro Gassman) who has a dangerous virus at his disposal. Transporter 2 features even less character development this time around, not to mention even more unbelievable physics and some ridiculous action scenes involving Frank and his car to boot. Not to mention a female assassin (Kate Nauta) who frequently works in her bra and panties. Yeah, but despite what all the film has going against it, Transporter 2 manages to be enjoyable throughout it's running time even though a majority of it is completely idiotic. This is because of Statham's scowly charisma, as well as the fact that nothing about this film is taken seriously. All in all, if you enjoyed the first film, chances are that you'll probably dig this.
Bad. Really, really bad.......2007-03-13
The fetching Mrs. Brew wanted to see this one, but she was busy one night so I watched it with my teen son. When she returned, she was disappointed that we watched it without her. My son told her, "Don't sweat it mom, it was just really bad acting and explosions."
'Nuff said.

This is a fantastic movie, alot of action, it will keep you on the edge of your seat through the whole movie
