great lessons..........2007-04-14

my three year old daughter and i saw this movie at a local theater. she loved it and i did as well. it was a pleasure to sit through with many great lessons about manners, being a friend, etc. my daughter even got up in the movie theater to dance to the songs. we are definitely pre- ordering this movie.

The Infamous Purple Pieman in this Strawberry Shortcake!.......2007-04-04

My girls ages 3 and 5 really enjoyed this movie at the movie theater. We have watched all the Strawberry Shortcake movies, and the 45 minute run time is just perfect. The characters appealing, songs catchy, and always a lesson to be learned.

The lessons emphasized are using good manners (Raspberry wants a world with no manners)in the first segment, and not cheating ((Purple Pieman and Sour Grapes try to cheat SS out of a win in the SS Festival) in the second segment. There are several laughable moments, and as always, a good feeling as the show ends.

Recommended!

A Little Girl from the 80's the ORIGINAL Strawberry.......2007-06-22

I have been waiting for this to come to dvd for so long now. They been putting alot of the 80's on dvd ( rainbow brite, he-man, TNMNT, Care Bears) Finally Strawberry Shortcake. I really hope the continue with the rest of them entitled Pets on Parade, Strawberry Meets the Berrykins ( my favorite), Housewarming Surprise, Baby without a name thens theres a few of Baby Strawberry. But on this particular dvd you get World of Strawberry & Big apple city which a great Start. If they continue looks for those titles.
Have a BERRY happy day and turn that frown upside down..

I can't believe I found this!.......2007-05-14

My sister and I watched this as kids...we had an old tape of it that we've watched a million times. When I found this, I just had to get it (and call my sister to let her know...she freaked out, too). Maybe it isn't the cartoon like today...but it's still great. This was the original Strawberry Shortcake! :)

Old friends, new technology.......2007-04-14

These movies are GREAT!!! As a young girl I watched these same movies as tv specials, and then later on vhs. These stories are sweet, wholesome, and timeless. I am thrilled that now I can share these same movies with my little ones.

The is the real authentic original Strawberry Shortcake (SS) cartoon that was made in the 1980's. The Strawberry Shortcake 2000 year cartoons where she is wearing a straw hat and jeans is a joke...they should not even be allowed to call it Strawberry Shortcake- what an insult. It is a whole nother cartoon and characters it should be called something else and not associtated with such a classic as the true 80's Strawberry Shortcake classic cartoon. Growing up on SS I am thrilled the real deal on finally on dvd for the new generation to enjoy and appriciate. I hate those fake foney SS re-make new adventure millinium garbage. Buy the classic ones! All you 80's babies and Parnets of 80's babies know what I'm talking about.

The Original Strawberry Shortcake.......2007-04-01

I couldnt believe it when this dvd came out!! I was a 1980's Strawberry Shortcake fan when I was a kid. I bought the dvd for me, really to reminisce but to my surprise, as the animation is obviously dated, my 2 year old daughter loves it!! It is just cute, very basic but I think little girls will enjoy it. My daughter isnt one to sit through a show longer than 30 mins (if im lucky!!) but she will watch this from beginning to end!!

What The Heck Happened To Strawberry Shortcake + Friends?.......2007-04-18

Wow, after watching this, I'm disappointed! The usually super-cute gang has been annimated into a funky, scary bunch in an attempt to make them seem, well, more life-like. imho, They look fugly! Although the story itself is cute, there are much better choices out there in Starwberry land. Click over to the recent Berry Fairy Tales or Moonlight Mysteries (steer clear of this plot if you have really young ones).

Not bad, but not the best..........2007-04-06

Even though 3D animation does'nt suit Strawberry, I hate the way they 'updated' SSC and her friends outfits, and they seemed to have forgotten all about Huckleberry Pie, this movie was not as bad as I thought it would be.
As a baby of the 80's I grew up with the series of cartoons SSC had back then, and they always were lighter than even My Little Pony or Care Bears in terms of story. Alot of that feeling is in this movie, only the depressing parts in 'Silly Dreamer' do seem a little dark for Strawberry Land...
It is so nice to see the Purple Pieman and Sour Grapes back again (they were the old series villains), though it seems a bit odd the writers made them brother and sister and replaced Sour Grapes snake pet with a horse named Dobbin wearing a bakers hat :P.

All and all it is a good movie though, much better than the newer My Little Pony cartoons. I wonder why they waited so long to make this when the whole style of the SSC dolls is being changed yet again by another company?

Cute movie. It's nice to see the love for Strawberry Shortcake and friends being passed on to a new generation. My two year-old and five year-old love the songs and we find ourselves singing them throughout the day. I wonder why they changed Raspberry Tart to Torte? Has Sour Grapes always been Pieman's sister? Hrmm..

My biggest peeve about the movie is that "ing" does not seem to be in the voice actors' vocabularies. ("Mornin' Comin' Shinin") Also, too many "gottas" as opposed to "haftas"...just a slight peeve of mine. Haha. I loved the computer animation very much so. Sour Grapes looks like Renee Zellweger, hahaha.

As a parent, I welcome any Strawberry Shortcake DVD into my home because I know that my girls will not only be entertained but get a lesson or two as well. And the songs are so catchy we bought the SSC Seaberry Beach Party Music CD to jam to in the car!

In Seaberry Beach Party, Gingersnap, Angel Cake, and Orange Blossom listen to the roar of the ocean in SSC's seashells. SSC looks through her "remembering book" and shares two sea tales. In the first story, "Coco Calypso and the Mystery of the Seaberry Shore", the seaberries are disappearing. Coco, who lives on the beach, solves the mystery and meets a new friend, Seaberry Delight, who lives in the lagoon underwater. Other characters featured in this episode are Papaya Parrot, Rainbow Sherbert, and Blueberry Muffin.
What is more precious than gold? Find out in the second story. Rainbow and Blueberry haggle over sand dollars they find on the beach. To stop the friends from fighting, Seaberry Delight tells them "The Legend of the Lost Treasure." THIS IS AN AWESOME DVD FOR STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE/MERMAID FANS OF ALL AGES. COOL CHARACTERS, CATCHY SONGS, VIVID COLORS. GREAT ANIMATION! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ONE. I am a huge SSC fan, and when I found out there was a new DVD for the SSC collection, I grabbed it right away. The stories are based on the idea of Strawberry's 4 new friends, Blueberry, Seaberry, Rainbow, and Coco. The one story involves a mysterious new friend that steals Coco's Seaberries, while the other story involves a berry special mermaid adventure that involves the friends searching for a berry special treasure. The colors are bright and act as sweet candy to the eye. The stories are energetic and teach children a leson on making friends and not being greedy.I enjoyed this very much:}

Delightfully Spooky..........2006-10-15

I think this is one of the better SS DVD's.My now three year old granddaughter received ths last year for her second birthday and it continues to be one of her favorites.There are two different stories.The first is about Ginger Snap overcoming her fear of the dark.The second is about a house that is supposedly inhabited by the "Blueberry Monster" that turns out to be Blueberry Muffin and her pet mouse Cheesecake.These are great episodes for the Autumn/Halloween season.

The Strawberry Shortcake videos are adorable, age-appropriate, have lots of catchy music, and are just plain sweet! My 4 year old daughter especially loved this one - the characters are pretty delightful to look at, and there is always a wholesome lesson learned in the end. I'm glad my daughter enjoys these - I do too because they let kids be kids.

My daughter (just turning 3) is enchanted with this movie because it is just the right amount of scary... enough to intrigue her but not so much that she gets really scared. She identifies with the characters in that she understands being scared of the dark. It has helped her overcome some of her fears. We have watched this over and over and over.

Fun music and storyline!.......2006-02-27

We have watched several SS videos and this is at the top of the list of favorites. The music is catchy and sung well, like all SS music. The story is about being afraid of the dark and how imaginations can make things look scary even though they're not. Ginger Snap in particular has a fear of the dark and doesn't want to go on the campout with the others. She was able to work through her fears and have a good time. They parallel that fear with the fear of making new friends and how you need to be brave because it's worth it to meet someone new. Of course this theme goes over most preschooler's heads but that is usually what all SS videos emphasize: friendship.

Kids enjoy the campout atmosphere and the spooky things that appear out of the woods. The images in the show aren't really scary for young kids, just mysterious enough to draw them in. This is a fun 45 minute movie!

I bought this item for my daughter's 4th birthday since she is starting to be interested in Strawberry Shortcake and she loves it!
It is cute and entertaining and teaches them values and how to cook.
She may be too young to actually cook right now but she is learning basic instructions for her future.

My daughter is three and loves all the Strawberry Shortcake DVDs. I usually rent them from Netflix, but this one was one of her favorites so I ended up buying it. If you have a little girl that loves to cook, this is super-cute! The pink case even smells like strawberries- delish!

Cooking Up a Treat for Strawberry Shortcake and Apple Dumplin' Fans.......2007-01-19

"Strawberry Shortcake: Cooking Up Fun" is a berry wonderful delight for fans of Strawberry Shortcake and/or her sister Apple Dumplin'. You get two stories from the show --- "Baby Takes the Cake" and "Piece of Cake."

In "Baby Takes the Cake," Apple Dumplin' is excited about the idea of helping Strawberry and her friends with cooking, but they all seem to think she's too little. When they finally give him something to do, she's put down for a nap, much to her consternation. She does fall asleep though and has a dream in which she imagines she's their age --- and they're all babies! This episode has two fun songs, both performed by Apple Dumplin', and some great cooking lessons and fun humor.

The second story finds Strawberry and her friends deciding to create their very own cooking show, to be broadcast throughout Strawberry Land. Everybody has their own ideas for the show, but they learn that sometimes not everyone can be the star, at least not all at once.

This is another winning installment in the "Strawberry Shortcake" series. The characters and songs are generally cheery and fun, the animation is pleasing for the eyes and the lessons are useful and generally age-appropriate. The DVD comes with a bonus music video --- "The Cooking Show," as well as a free cookbook and sticker set.

This was a very cute movie both my neice (3 1/2yr) and I really enjoye this movie. It has some catchy little songs that you will find yourself singing throught the day...even if you don't want to. This video shares fun recipes that your daughter will want to make with you more than likely because it's Strawberry's and the insert has 2 printed out recipes. This movie isn't all about cooking. It has a story where Apple Dumplin has a dream that she is Strawberry's age and Strawberry and all of her friend become the babies and she has to "take care" of them. My neice really enjoyed that story and she was really excited that all of Strawberry's friends were back for this movie since they were no where to be found in the Berry Fairy Tales! Your little one will be pleased with this movie.

My daughter, who is 3, likes this one becasue of all the pets. She, and I, especially like Pupcake, who chases his tail with such abandon that he becomes a whirlwind - hysterical. I do not like Peppermint Fizz, with her sneaky cheating ways, but she realizes she was wrong at the end. She is my least favorite character whenever she appears. The world has many Peppermint Fizzes, but it doesn't mean I have to like to watch them do their dirty stuff.

I Know a Girl Who Has the Best Pets Yet.......2007-01-09

"Best Pets Yet" is a DVD featuring two berry good "Strawberry Shortcake" stories. This fun series contains animation that is pleasing on the eyes, fun songs, and enjoyable plots and characters.

The fun starts with "Here Comes Pupcake." For the longest time, Strawberry has had only one pet --- a cat named Custard. Well, that is, if any cat can ever truly be called a "pet." Custard is excited because her very own special day with Strawberry is coming up. But then, both of them hear the howling of a dog. He's lost and alone and Strawberry takes him and decides to name him Pupcake. At first, Custard can't stand him. He howls all the time and seems to take up all of Strawberry's attention. Will Custard ever come to like Pupcake, at least maybe a little?

In the second story, "Peppermint's Pet Peeve," a rarely-seen character called Peppermint Fizz is jealous at how the other characters regard their pets, but pay her or her pet, a lizard, little attention. She decides to hold a competition to find the "Best Pet Yet." The kids end up reluctantly agreeing, but then Peppermint Fizz gets up to mean tricks.

DVD includes close-captioning and features a bonus music video, a friends game and a tour of places.

In this Strawberry short-cake adventure, Strawberry finds a new pup named Pup-cake, and keeps him, but Custard at first thinks he's nothing but trouble. Will he ever stop howling? And then they look back in there memory book for a hilarious, cute adventure about "Peppermint-fizz" and her pet lizard, and how they learn a lesson, about it's not a bout winning prizes and having trophies...but having fun. This volume is filled with happy, new faces, up-lifting songs, and good-for-the-heart lessons. This has it all. It's definately worth the money. Perfect for anybody 3 and up! Please buy it, you won't regret it.

Good for toddlers -- but not the adults...........2006-07-25

My two daughters (1-1/2 and 2-1/2) love this movie. They will sit still to watch the whole thing. Therefore, I can recommend it for toddler entertainment. However, the adults may want to leave the room.... It simply grates on your nerves after the first viewing -- especially the voice casting for Custard. The voice is a horrible match to the cute pink kitty pictured. And honestly, before this video, I didn't realize that a voice actor could be such a BAD actor!!! It is agony to listen to the too-hard voice deliver lines in such flat dreary tones....

These two vintage Major League Baseball films capture 40 minutes each of the New York Mets' World Series victories. First, the 1969 Mets, only a few years after record-setting losses, pulled off the improbable victory against the Baltimore Orioles' roster of sluggers and starting pitchers. Disappointment eith a great subject.......2007-01-09

I purchased this DVD with the thought of replacing my VHS versions of same. I expected Joe Garagiola & Vin Scully narrating the 1986 World Series as they did on television and Lindsay Nelson & Curt Gowdy for the 1969 which were the official broadcasters on NBC. I got neither. If you own these World Series classics on VHS, don't discard them for this DVD.

Pretty Good but short.......2006-10-06

All they did was take the original vhs film from the 1969 film and convert it to dvd. Not that the original is horrible, but gezz couldn't MLB do better than this and show a bit of creativity? It does capture the great moments of the film, from agee's two catches, ron swaboda's catch to the victory. 1986 is the clips from Vin Skulley national TV broadcast showing Boston thinking they were about to win to the ball under Buck's legs to the Mets victory. It worth buying, could be better and longer at 45 mins each winning year on a dvd.

Strawberry Shortcake is throwing a party for her little sister Apple Dumpling's first birthday. My daughter was introduced to this movie by someone staying with her at the ronald mcdonald house in Chicago. She wanted to watch it when we got home. We couldn't find it. We went to the ronald mcdonald house again and the same thing, she couldn't watch it enough. Now we have it at home.

The only bad thing about this is now the strawberry shortcake song is stuck in my head.

Sweet Strawberry DVD.......2005-09-07

Our granddaughter(who turns 2 years this month)has just recently shown an interest in watching this Strawberry Shortcake DVD which we have had since June.I remember watching a SS show on TV with my daughter in the 80's and although the characters have changed some(different clothes,Custard was always a sarcastic cat,but she didn't talk and Pupcake used to be Huckleberry Pie's dog)the movie has no violence and is a good choice for young children.And even though the voices and dialogue are sugary sweet,this appeals to young children.Kiersten's Grandpa watched this whole 45 minute movie with her and if he can do that,anybody can!!!But whatever happened to all the other SS character and the Purple Pieman and Sour Grapes?My daughter had collected ALL the dolls and their pets and there were MANY of them.

This is a cute movie as are all her movies -the singing is adorable, and rather catchy, I find myself humming a tune or 2 while it is playing. If you're a Strawberry fan-this is a must have for the collection.

My four year old daughter's favorite movie!!!.......2004-12-27

My daughter received this for Christmas last year and has watched it 20 times or more! She just loves the story and I think it has a good moral to not judge a person before you get to know them! This is must have of the Strawberry Shortcake movies so you can learn how Strawberry meets all of her friends. Although one can't help but wonder why Strawberry has no parents and yet is responsible for taking care of a one year old baby sister. There are no adults in this fantasy world, but the "Berry" friends all seem to be very responsible living in Strawberry Land without them!

My girls love this one!.......2006-12-02

We own all of the Strawberry Shortcake DVDs, and this is one my girls (7 & 5) watch over and over. My 5-year-old is a "horse girl, and she especially likes the story being told from Honey Pie's prespective. Good lesson that we all need friends like us as well as friends not so much like us. The second episode didn't bother my girls - they viewed it as a mystery. In the end, the raven is so moved by the friendship between the girls and Honey Pie that he helps Strawberry Shortcake.

Dissapointed Child Of the 80's.......2006-04-03

Strawberry Shortcake was my Favorite thing when I was little. So, naturally, I started looking for some of the old movies for my little girl. I really don't like the new look of Strawberry Shortcake and her friends, but bought this DVD for my daughter anyway. I love the smell of the DVD case, it smells just like my SSC doll that blows kisses that I got when I was 5. But the stories are really stupid, and the songs are painfully done. I don't know why they had to dumb it down so much. I personally miss the cuteness of the classic, as well as Sour Grapes and the Purple Pie Man. The villain in this is just rediculous. My daughter does like the first story, but won't watch the second one,(She's 3) the bad guy really bugs her. So, I am back to searching for the classics. I wish they would just put the old ones on DVD.

Strawbery Shortcake movies are one of the best selections you can get for your kids. Your children will learn things that will help them deal with everyday issues. I like the cartoon because you can understand all of it. It's not like some cartoons today that the parents have to wonder what it is teaching. The Strawberry Shortcake cartoons are great.

SONGS ARE HORRIBLE.......2005-09-10

There is no reason for the songs to be SO painful to listen to. The story is sweet, there is a bad guy but he is not dreadful. My daughter and niece love this one, especially the ponies. The girls don't seem to notice how bad the songsa are so it is only grating on my nerves. Certainly not a timeless treasure but cute and fun nonetheless and harmless in spite of the BAD GUY

My daughters 8 and 4 love horses. So naturaly they love this DVD, however they hate the "bad guy" in it. All the Strawberry Shortcake DVDs we own are very happy so I thought this one would be like the others. They love the 1st episode on this DVD, but not so much the 2nd. Too bad the 2nd one has to be about a greedy guy who kidnaps Strawberry's horse!
