The miracle about Miracle is that it gets so many details right in telling its 24-year-old story about the historic victory of the U.S. hockey team at the 1980 Olympic Games. It's typical for Hollywood to compromise such period details as hairstyles and fashion when catering to a contemporary audience, but Miracle looks and feels right in every detail, capturing the downbeat mood of post-Watergate America while showing how obsessively determined Minnesota hockey coach Herb Brooks (Kurt Russell) managed to assemble a once-in-a-lifetime team and whip them into a victorious frenzy over their Soviet champion opponents. With sharp support from Patricia Clarkson (as Brooks's wife) and Noah Emmerich (as his long-suffering assistant), Russell grounds the film with a well-balanced combination of aloofness, intimidation, and closely guarded strategy. No doubt the real Brooks (who died in a car accident shortly after filming completed) would have approved. Thanks to director Gavin O'Connor (Tumbleweeds) and the producers of the similarly laudable sports films Remember the Titans and The Rookie, Miracle brings plenty of heart--and historical accuracy--to an old, familiar formula. --Jeff Shannon
Description
From the studio that brought you THE ROOKIE and REMEMBER THE TITANS comes the movie everybody loves -- MIRACLE. Filled with exhilarating nonstop hockey action and heart-racing suspense, it's the inspiring true story behind one of the greatest moments in sports history — the 1980 United States ice hockey team's triumphant Olympic victory against the Soviet Union. Kurt Russell gives a brilliant performance as the dynamic and determined coach Herb Brooks, who had an impossible dream -- beat the seemingly unbeatable Soviets at their own game. Starting with a handpicked group of 26 undisciplined kids, Brooks coached them to play like they never played before, and turned 20 of them into a team that believed they could achieve the unachievable -- and in the process, united a nation with a new feeling of hope.

Jennifer Jones plays the legendary French peasant who claimed to have dialogues with the Virgin Mary at a Lourdes grotto in 1858. The script handles the visitations as an article of truth (Linda Darnell plays the Virgin), which helps move the drama forward, though much of the story concerns the conflicts that arise in the community after Jones is told the grotto contains healing waters. Made by Henry King (The Snows of Kilimanjaro), the film is gorgeous to look at and sensitively directed; and Jones (who won an Oscar for Best Actress) is radiant in the lead. Whatever one's religious persuasion, this is a strikingly handsome Hollywood production to be enjoyed. The film also earned Academy Awards for cinematography and score. --Tom Keogh
Description
The story of a peasant girl Bernadette Soubirous, a poverty-stricken, pure hearted adolescent, who saw a vision, of a "Beautiful Lady" near her home town of Lourdes in 1858. The wondrous news spreads rapidly throughout France, leaving in its wake a variety of consequences: adoration, suspicion and greed among the people of Lourdes skepticism from the town doctor (Lee J. Cobb) charges of insanity from the town prosecutor (Vincent Price) threats of physical punishment, then support and guidance from the Dean of Lourdes (Charles Bickford), who finally becomes convinced that the miracle has, indeed, taken place. Winner of four Academy Awards, including Best Actress and Best Score, this true story is both first-rate filmmaking and an inspiring tribute to faith, courage and the human spirit.
Customer Reviews:
The Song of Bernadette.......2007-06-25
It is hard to overstate just how respectfully and reverentially director King handles the details of the Lourdes legend, in which the Virgin (played here by an uncredited Linda Darnell) is said to have appeared to a sickly peasant girl, through whom she conveyed her message of love. That's because he treats the story as fact, depicting Bernadette's divine encounters as wholly natural rather than fantastic. Jones is radiant as the scapegoated Bernadette, and won an Oscar for her effort. Price is wonderful, too, as the withering voice of reason. If you're in need of heavenly grace, lay hands on the ecstatic "Song."

About as good as could be expected.......2007-05-12
As a movie, The Song of Bernadette, is certainly a classic. As a story, it will appeal to some and not to others, but the film seems to be a faithful (I use the word advisedly) telling of the story. As an attempt to capture the film and make it accessible, the DVD is very good. Some reviewers have complained about the aspect ratio and the mono sound - well in 1943 that's what we had. My one quibble, hence only 4 stars, is that approximately a minute or less of the original film seems to be missing. In the DVD version, the Dean of Lourdes (played by Charles Bickford) demands that the lady of the vision produce a rose out of season, but no rose is produced (I looked for it several times over), but in the TCM version the rose does appear.
The Song of Bernadette.......2007-04-10
I have enjoyed this film many times since my purchase. As an old movie and always a favorite I wanted to have such a good film to watch whenever I feel like a movie due to the lack of quality programs and movies on television. Thank you for your service and promptness in getting films so quickly to me.

The writing-directing team of Angelo Pizzo and David Anspaugh tries to do for soccer what their films Hoosiers and Rudy did for, respectively, basketball and football. Here's another true story, a legendary upset in the early days of the World Cup. In 1950, America hastily forms a team to play against the world. We center on a tight Italian community in St. Louis providing the bulk of the national team. We meet GQ-ready stars led by goalie Frank Borgi (The Phantom of the Opera's Gerald Butler, deftly handling the duties). This brotherhood of players is unfortunately strapped to play off clichés and the movie never really engages us beyond the autumn-tinged scenery. A big part of the blame goes to the narrator telling us what we should be feeling (perhaps because we dumb Americans don't know soccer, er, football, like the rest of the world). No fault in the performance of the narrator/journalist (played by Patrick Stewart as the elder, Terry Kinney as the younger) or the rest of the cast. Perhaps the game is elusive to cinematic grandeur, (how many memorable soccer movies can you name?), but the movie is also tired and slow, something those earlier sports films were not. There's only a brief stirring when the earnest Gino (Louis Mandylor) has a wedding-date conflict and as the most famous English player of the day, Stanley Mortenson (Gavin Rossdale), patronizes the Americans in a public speech. Perhaps the studio knew they had a cellar dweller; the film was barely released and retitled for home video echoing the moniker of the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team. Soccer kids will enjoy the film, but others better stick to Geoffrey Douglas's book, The Game of Their Lives, the film's original title (and mistakenly left on the end credits). --Doug Thomas
Description
In the spirit of REMEMBER THE TITANS, MIRACLE, and THE ROOKIE, THE MIRACLE MATCH is the incredible story about the men behind one of the all-time greatest upsets in sports history. Two weeks before the 1950 World Cup, a ragtag group of recreational soccer players from St. Louis and New York were chosen to represent the USA in Brazil. Consumed with conflicts personal, cultural, and playing styles they had mere days to become a team. And then they had to play the British, the best team in the world. Inspired by a newfound belief in the team, their passion and talent turned into pure magic on the field and the unthinkable happened. Filled with heart-stopping action, and featuring Patrick Stewart, this triumphant story is a rousing celebration of the human spirit, love of the sport, and pride of country.

Great For Soccer Fans.......2007-05-14
This is a great movie if you love the game of soccer. Great cast selection.
Good, but not Great.......2007-03-22
I am a rabid fan of Gerard Butler, but even I can't give this film a glowing recommendation. I'm even from St. Louis, where some of the filming was done. Most of the team featured in the film was also from St. Louis.
It's a good film, but just not great.
GREAT TEAM - GOOD FILM, BUT UNDERFINANCED BY STUDIO.......2007-02-07
The same filmmakers who gave us RUDY and HOOSIERS - two outstanding sports films that set the standard for many that followed - were forced to play it safe in this one, due to disagreements with studio executives. The original budget of $65 M was whittled down to $27 M, causing the running time of 130 minutes to be shortened to 101. Scriptwriter Angelo Pizzo, who based his story on the book by Geoffrey Douglas, says that only 45-50% of what he intended to be in the film made it to the final cut. Scenes like Frank "Pee Wee" Wallace as a German POW, and an emotional scene of the players looking up the records of their ancestors on Ellis Island, were dropped. Those were scenes that would have given the characters more depth and made the story more interesting. Instead, we are left with a predictably formulaic sports film about an underdog American soccer team beating the inventors of the sport, Great Britain, in the 1950 Olympic Games. Period. While interesting and likable, it leaves much to be desired as far as drama.
I didn't like the way everything had to be explained by the narrator, reporter Dent McSkimming, played by Patrick Stewart. Perhaps the scenes that would have explained things were part of the film that was cut, and that was the only option left to the filmmakers. I liked Gerard Butler as goalie Frank Borghi, the star of the team, and the player who had been most decorated in WWII; but it wasn't one of his stronger roles. He had plenty to do on the field, but not that much dramatically off. Wes Bentley as Walter Bahr, Jay Rodan as Pee Wee Wallace, Gavin Rossdale as Brit Stanley Mortensen, Costas Mandylor as Charlie "Gloves" Columbo, Louis Mandylor as Gino Pariani, Zachery Ty Bryan as Harry Keough, and especially Jimmy Jean-Louis as Joe Gaetjens were all good. These were good actors playing good characters. It is a shame the studio didn't allow them to show their stuff more.
This is a very likable film that was cheated by the studio. My only hope is that one day someone will finance a director's cut version so we can see what we missed, though that is highly unlikely since I don't think those extra scenes were even shot. If that were to happen, it might turn out that this actually was a great film, worthy of the company of RUDY and HOOSIERS.
By the way: the DVD contains no extras - not one. When was the last time that occurred? So the filmmakers weren't the only ones that were cheated by the studio.

Patty Duke and Anne Bancroft had been playing their respective roles as Helen Keller and her teacher, Annie Sullivan, on Broadway for some time before director Arthur Penn (The Left-Handed Gun) built a mesmerizingly beautiful film around their layers-deep performances. Duke is astonishing as the deaf, blind, mute Keller, who awakens to an awareness of language under Sullivan's determined guidance. Bancroft is fascinating and focused. Penn wisely kept his adaptation unencumbered by cinematic indulgence. The black-and-white film is sparse and charged with the immediacy of the drama. The script is by William Gibson, who also wrote the original play. --Tom Keogh

I guess I was expecting a colorized version of the movie because of the picture displayed. I guess I'll pay attention next time, however the movie is the one I wanted.
A Must-See for EVERYONE!.......2007-05-23
And that's no exaggeration. The Miracle Worker has everything you could possibly want in a movie and more. The powerful ending scene is as beautiful as it is gut-wrenching; poignant doesn't even begin to describe it.
As for the extras, there's really only one worth mentioning, and that is the original theatrical trailer. I enjoyed watching it because it gives you a glimpse into the past and shows you that although movie trailers were originally quite simple, they gave the audience so much and made them want to run out and see it.
Watch this movie with your family and I'm sure you will all cherish it for years to come.

HOMELESS IN AMERICA: Twenty-One Songs of Social Conscience for the 21st Century
Dated but still a terrific landmark .......2007-04-01
From its earliest version as an orginal live-tv Playhouse-90 drama (gone are the days when tv could give us quality like this. We're stuck with 2nd-rate sex farce and toilet jokes), to the hit play, to the hit movie, this film displays almost every overdone effort made by Hollywood, starting in the late 50's, to mimick European "New Wave" techniques. It's to Bancroft's and Duke's credit that the production doesn't descend into total hysteria from beginning to end. The Playhouse 90 original, which I recall seeing as a teen myself, was somewhat more subdued and, IMHO, more powerful and effective in the final scenes. That said, this is still a remarkable piece of cinema -- despite the fact that there's not a single accurate ethnic speech coloration in the whole movie, and it has some of the laughably worst attempts at Southern accents I've heard since Gone With the Wind and the Tammy movies. It's incredible to think that the movie's imbecilic producers didn't want to import Duke or Bancroft from Broadway to recreate two of the most memorable dramatic roles of the 20th century. The excellent b&w print now seen on DVD is largely the work of Cuban director / photographer Ernesto Caparros who had been involved in cinema since the 1930's. Not only will tv never again give us work like this, but I can imagine how many car chases and napalm bombs Hollywood would have shoved into the script if "Worker" were produced today. Thanks to Amazon for including this very good DVD in their free-shipping list. Younger viewers who know Duke only from cable replays of her vapid tv sitcom will probably sit with mouths dropped and eyes popped open when they see how tv utterly wasted the supurb talent Patty displays in this movie.
WORLD CLASS.......2007-03-26
A MUST HAVE. BETTER THAN ALL THE OTHER VERSIONS. NO POLITICALLY CORRECT LIES AND LEFT PROPAGANDA IN THIS VERSION.

Wonderfully inspiring, incredible coaching and spirit displayed by young men when our country needed this healing and unity. Love this movie and display of determination, belief, love, patriotism, and spirit.
"On A Sheet Of Ice In Lake Placid, New York" ~ Knowing When It's Your Time.......2007-04-27
Who will ever forget that memorable Winter Olympics in `80 when a young, inexperienced U.S.A. hockey squad beat the juggernaut Russian team in the semi-finals on their way to the gold medal? Well if you have just watch this movie and rekindle the memory of what was unquestionable the ultimate moment in the history of American hockey.
Released in '04, the inspirational sports film `Miracle' is a nostalgic look back at a time before professionals took over the Olympic games and young, starry-eyed college kids reached for that one glorious moment of fame. Yes it's overly sentimental and just oozing with saccharine but deep down inside I think that's how most of us want to remember this game anyway. U.S.A. versus Russia, doesn't get any better than that!
Thrilling.......2007-02-04
It is easy to summarize the plot behind this movie. It is about the 1980 U.S. hockey team that went all the way to gold in the Olympics at Lake Placid. What is harder to summarize is the era and feelings of the United States at that time, and just what a kick in the behind this game was for the U.S.
1980 was a very bad time. Inflation was horrible. We recently left Viet Nam, failing to accomplish whatever mission we had. Students kidnapped Americans from the embassy in Teheran. We suffered from a president who was tied to a politically motivated hotel break-in and from a president who was unable to effectively deal with politics in Washington, D.C.; then came the 1980 Olympic hockey team.
The hockey team of the Soviet Union was the dominant team for 20 years. They were favored to win the 1980 Olympics. The U.S. team might have a shot for bronze, if we were lucky. Instead, the U.S. team kept beating teams that "everyone" expected to beat the U.S. Americans began holding their breath as the team played each new opponent, and won. It was amazing. The gold medal game against Finland was almost an anti-climax after the game against the Soviet Union. While Coach Brooks was there to play hockey and go all the way, the biggest hurdle was going to be the tough, professional Soviet team.
This movie captures it all; the feeling of the era, details of the era, the thrill of each team victory, and Coach Brook's refusal to celebrate any victory until the truly important one. I was amazed at Kurt Russell's performance. He is compelling as Coach Brooks. Brooks is obsessed in his drive to make his team the best, and he skillfully transmits that obsession to his players. Kurt Russell was perfect for the role of Brooks, and it is one of his finest moments in a movie.
This movie is perfect for most members of the family, and may well serve as an inspiration for some family members. Some younger members of the family may be distressed by the violence of hockey, which is well replicated in this movie. You may not want to be eating while watching some portions of the movie.
Enjoy!
good uplifting movie.......2007-02-03
i like the perspective the movie tried to portray, that individual Olympians who are great at what they do are not representing themselves, but are representing their country. im really glad our hockey team won in those adverse times and that this movie was made to reflect a bit of the triumph they experienced.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE .......2007-01-28
What a great movie this was there was not one bad part in the whole Movie i think that the actors who played this made the Real guys looked amazing this is my favriot movie ever i just love it I think that Kurt Russell did a great Job betraying herb brooks i don't think that any other actor could do it as well as he did.

Good workout, but old..........2007-05-24
This set is good b/c it offers a variety of lengths and a few different steps, so you can easily fit to how much time you have. It is set in the 80s or 90s, so it is an older version, but the workout is still good. She is a real person and not cheesy, but a good, low impact workout.
Yuck!!!.......2007-05-13
This was clearly recorded in the early 80's when she was trying to refine her style and figure out what worked and what didn't. The studio/design elements were horrible. The camera shots were very amateur. I didnt like how it went from Mile 1 to Mile 2 to Mile 3 with obvious breaks in between. It is terrible! I had Walk Away the Pound on VHS and was looking to upgrade to DVD. I figured I would buy it on Amazon and save myself some money. In the end it was a waste of money because I had to go to Leslie Sansone's website to order a more recent workout program and boy was it worth it.
good but it could be better.......2007-05-07
I used to watch the walk show on demand tv and it was pretty good, but this dvd kind of disappointed me because it looks like old. No one in 2007 wants to exercise with a dvd from the 90's so I really hated that part.
Other than that it's pretty good. The exercise is low impact, but it works, if you make the 3 miles you will notice some pain in your muscles at the next day. The third mile is definitely KILLER, oh gosh! was hard to finish that one.
fitnes dvd........2007-03-09
I am very pleased with the dvd's. She is real person, with and easey
way to work --walk to better health,
Good Workout.......2007-02-23
The one mile workout is ok, but the two mile has more moves, so I like it better. I have not made it to the four mile dvd but hope to be there soon!

Joan Wulff is the best!.......2007-02-06
Joan's technique and simple method of explaining the correct way and how to correct problems when fly casting is the best that I have found.
A very good introduction.......2006-11-01
I am a complete beginner, but with this video as my guide, I am already casting fairly well after only four practice sessions. Joan Wulff is a pleasant, well informed, highly respected fly fisherman and instructor, and her presentations are very clear, helpful, and well organized. Lessons cover the basic cast, false casting, double hauling, roll casting, and other useful topics. The production qualities of this video are excellent: the audio is as clear as a bell, and the scenery is beautiful. Highly recommended for beginners.
Very Good Instruction.......2006-08-21
Excellent step by step from the basics to advanced. Cool historical perspective as well. Entertaining yet educational.
Excellent!.......2006-07-15
Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! Never tire of viewing. Great information for the beginner and expert alike. Will be viewing this for the entire Winter. Joan is an excellent instructor and fine contributor to the world of angling
Joan Wulff's the Best.......2006-02-23
As a trout fishing guide who also offers fly fishing lessons, I ordered this DVD to make sure I was covering all the bases with my clients and students. I can't imagine how many hundreds (or perhaps thousands) of students Joan Wulff has taught over the years, but she has a system of instruction that is second to none. I will sometimes want to pull my hair out, because I can't find the right words to help a client improve a specific cast. Joan has figured out great teaching methods by having her students turn their casts on their side, attaching make-shift handles to fly rods, casting yarn, and so on, to get her students to that "aha!" moment when it all clicks for them.

Still startlingly beautiful after several years, Nova's The Miracle of Life records human conception for the first time on film, and much more. Living, functioning reproductive systems are laid bare to the camera, and there is so much to explore and absorb that Nova's expert guidance is much needed and appreciated. The viewer follows an egg from its follicular development in an ovary, through the delicate, flowery fallopian tube for fertilization, and on to the uterus for development and eventual birth. Likewise, we follow the shorter journey of millions of sperm as they develop and strive mightily to reach the egg. (There isn't a man alive who can watch intraurethral footage without squirming--see for yourself!) Photographer Lennart Nilsson has shown us something profoundly beautiful and yet has left its fundamental mystery intact. The Miracle of Life is a rarity: a documentary that is also art. --Rob Lightner

A Must have for all Pregnant Couples.......2007-07-03
This is a must have for all pregnant couples its not the most detailed DVD ever made but it gives you a fantastic overview of the full pregnancy process, from conception to delievery. Its a great way to bond with you spouse and baby to be.

Simply Amazing.......2007-05-31
This is a very informative, interesting look at what a miracle conception and birth really are. This video explains every aspect in scientific terms that you can understand, along with brilliant technological capturing of conception and the growing fetus in the womb. At the end is a short but tasteful live birth. Since I am expecting it has greatly increased my knowledge of what is happening to my baby. This is a wonderful DVD to watch with your family when expecting a child.
Wonderful & informative, but too "scientific".......2007-03-08
I've watched this DVD when I was younger and I bought it for my son who is at the age where he needs to learn what actually happens instead of what he hears at school and on the bus from the older kids. It is a wonderful and informative DVD, however, I do think that it is a little over his head with all of the medical terminology. We still had to stop at several spots and explain it to where he could understand what exactly they meant. Other than that, it is definately a great buy.
Make sure this is the info you're looking for!.......2006-09-11
Video was very well done, however much of the focus was on the act of conception. I was expecting more on the development of the fetus, which felt crammed into the last portion of the video. However, it was a good way to get my non-reading husband a little more interested in the entire process (aside from making the baby, that is).
Still an awesome educational journey.......2006-01-16
I saw this 15 years ago in my biology class and now that I'm 6 months pregnant, I was curious to see it again. Absolutely fascinating and rich in detail. I do wish they'd spent more time showing the fetus at the various ages--it stops at 18 weeks--but overall a highly educational and captivating journey.

The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima tells the story--through an admittedly Hollywood prism--of one of the most beloved Catholic legends of the 20th century. Three young shepherd children in the remote Portuguese mountain town Fatima reported seeing a vision in 1917 of "a beautiful lady" who spoke to them of strife, war and peace and the love of Jesus. Soon the word spread, and throngs, teetering on mobs, gathered near the site for a glimpse of what they believed to be Mary, mother of Jesus. The children remained steadfast in their account, despite threats from the church and the government, and the final appearance of the lady, on Oct. 13, 1917, was accompanied by strange apparitions in the sky that have yet to be explained by science. The movie is well-made and -acted, especially by a radiant Susan Whitney, who plays the oldest child, Lúcia Abóbora dos Santos. The screenplay takes some liberties with the facts: the lovable jokester-sidekick character of Hugo is fictitious, and one wonders if perhaps a few of Our Lady's cautions about the multitude of evil things happening in 1917 Russia might have been heard through a Cold War filter. But the 1952 film is moving and is a reminder that big studios once routinely, and profitably, released religious-themed movies, to audiences who surely would appreciate some of the same today. --A.T. Hurley
Description
Screen chronicle based on actual 1917 events outside Fatima, Portugal, where three shepherd children report visions of the Virgin Mary and confront anticlerical government oppression in the process.

K of C Council Member.......2007-06-27
Excellent movie - we showed it as part of a Dinner and Movie program for Charity. The audience did not take their eyes off the screen and even enjoyed the humorous moments. I had watched the movie as a child with my parents and was amazed that the vast majority of the audience had never seen it. The best review that can be given is that at the conclusion of the movie the entire audience applauded and the comments were all very favorable. Their survey forms stated that they wanted to see more movies just like "The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima".
Excellent movie.......2007-06-05
I read the book written by a nephew of one of the visionaries (Sr. Lucia) and I found the movie very accurate to the nephew's account. I was especially moved at the ending as I visited Fatima a few months back and they still wave the hankerchiefs as the statue of the Blessed Mother processes by. Highly recommend watching!!
An Inspiring Movie.......2007-05-27
I did like the movie very much, and it is one of my favorites. The information presented is a little general, but is still very good. For Lucia's full account contact "The Mother of Christ Crusade" 1444 Janie Ave. Billings, Montana 59105. At one time I used to buy the little books and leave them at Church, with the priest's permission of course. As a Catholic I believe the events and the accounts (message) as told by the lady and revealed to us through Lucia. Take care all and have a nice forever.

Description
One of the great untold stories of World War II unfolds in this suspenseful adventure-drama. During the last perilous months of the conflict, Vienna's famed Spanish Riding School -- and its prized Lipizzan stallions -- is threatened by devastating bombing raids and indifferent Nazi commanders. Despite the dangers involved in evacuating the magnificent animals, the school's director (Robert Taylor) and a handful of heroic citizens attempt a daring, life-threatening plan to move the stallions away from the ravages of war and, more importantly, keep the historic breed alive.
Customer Reviews:
Lilli Palmer and horses whats not to like.......2007-06-01
This was a most unDisney like film in its day and audiences stayed away in droves but in fact it is a very entertaining film about the famous horses of Vienna who were saved from the bombings during the second world world and taken to safety in the country.. If you are looking for Tommy Sands and Annette in this one, forget it cause it has an adult cast starring the Legendary Robert Taylor and the beautiful international star Lilli Palmer, who once was Mrs. Rex Harrison, and Eddie Albert and German star Curt Jurgens.. Although there are nazis and one battle scene at the end, this is not a bloody war film but it does have a fairly adult theme but there are plenty of beautiful horses.. And for sure some scenes in the Spanish Riding school in Vienna with these famous horses doing their dressage routine.. Not a kiddie film but all ages can enjoy it and filmed on location in Europe which was very rare for the Disney Studio at the time.
Miracle of the White Stallions.......2007-06-01
Great movie. Not only a valuable history lesson, but a great look at the amazing Lipizzaner stallions!
Walt Disney's Miracle of the White Stallion.......2007-03-09
This is a fantastic movie. I recently went to see the Lipizzaner Stallions perform and they are such a beautiful sight to behold. I did not realize the trouble that was taken to save these beautiful horses. I think the the movie depicts it rather well and in such great detail. Great movie, I feel that everyone should see it.
Miracle of White Stallions DVD and VHS.......2007-01-10
This story is a true story and my Dad was in Patton's battalion at this time. He has told us this story many times and we are so proud he was a part of this piece of history. Will treasure this movie forever!
wonderful film for all ages.......2006-11-09
This is a great film I remember from my childhood. Seeing it a again after all these years it still holds up. It is a riviting story for those who love horses and are interested in history.

The original 1947 version of this Valentine Davies story follows the misadventures of Kris Kringle (Edmund Gwenn) as he gets a job playing Santa Claus at Macy's department store in New York City. Natalie Wood is the little girl who tells him she doesn't believe in Santa, and Maureen O'Hara and John Payne are the couple who help Kris through a trial in which he must prove he's the jolly fellow from the North Pole. A sweet movie and perennial Christmas favorite, this is one of those movies that gets under your skin and must be revisited every so often. --Tom Keogh
Description
Six year old Susan has doubts childhood's most enduring miracle Santa Clause. Her mother told her the "secret" about Santa a long time ago, so Susan doesn't expect to receive the most important gifts on her Christmas list. But after meeting a special departement stare Santa who's convinced he's the real thing, Susan is given the most precious gift of all - something to believe in.
Customer Reviews:
Another classic.......2007-06-27
This is another classic movie of which I have more than one version. I do enjoy this version's "Kris Kringle" very much and Natalie Wood was fantastic as Susan. Maureen O'Hara made a great mother and the story speaks for itself, if you believe. . . .
Miracle on 34th Street.......2007-06-25
Was there ever a better big-screen Santa than Oscar winner Edmund Gwenn? This timeless Christmas fable about an elderly retiree who sets New York a-twitter with his claim to be the sleigh-riding patron saint of the North Pole captures the spirit of the season like few other holiday films. Young Natalie Wood is delightful as the disbelieving girl who, hewing to her mother's urban sophisticate views, thinks the notion of elves and Saint Nick is preposterous. Repeat viewings won't diminish the charming allure or the endearing message of "Miracle."
Product Quality.......2007-03-22
Excellent quality film. The DVD contains both the original black and white version as well as a colorized version. Highly recommended for every family, we love it.
Value-for-Money.......2007-03-12
I have another version of this movie in LD. I like the story very much and its idea of using the Post Office to prove officially the existence of the Santa is so much better than the 1994 remake. This edition provides the best of both world (Colour and B/W)for me as well. All in all, it is a great value package for a young at heart.
