The younger you are, the more you'll enjoy UPN's short-lived revival of The Twilight Zone. Front-loaded with young actors (or marginal celebrities, like Jessica Simpson) and a bone-jarring theme by Korn's Jonathan Davis, the show panders to a teen demographic, which original-series creator Rod Serling would never have tolerated. It's a pale copy of Serling's original, and even the 1985 TZ revival was marginally better, but there are some memorable exceptions in this 43-episode, six-disc set. Not surprisingly, the best episodes are straight remakes of (or sequels to) classic Serling originals, including "The Monsters on Maple Street," "It's Still a Good Life" (with former child actor Bill Mumy reprising his creepiest role, and featuring a series-best performance by Cloris Leachman), and "Eye of the Beholder." Of the originals to this series, highlights include the pilot episode with Jeremy Piven; Jason Alexander in "One Night at Mercy," Amber Tamblyn in "Evergreen"; Lukas Haas in "Harsh Mistress"; Lou Diamond Phillips in "The Pool Guy"; ER's Eriq La Salle as writer, director, and star of "Memphis"; and a few others that capture the eerie quality of "another dimension of sight, sound, and mind."
Woefully miscast as the series' host, Forest Whitaker delivers facile introductions devoid of Serling's literary finesse. More often than not, the writing relies on forgettable characters and thinly-disguised variations on original-series themes; at its worst, the series demonstrates a staggering lack of originality, and the youthful casting frequently results in one-dimensional performances, with a few notable exceptions. It's hit-or-miss at best, but shooting locations in Vancouver, British Columbia, lend the series a visually stimulating variety of settings and atmosphere; production values are consistently high (as they were in the Canadian seasons of X-Files), and Rick Maguire deserves praise for his cinematography on virtually every episode. If you can forget Serling altogether (a difficult challenge for his devoted fans), you'll be able to overlook the flaws and enjoy some occasionally clever trips into The Twilight Zone as it was meant to be. --Jeff Shannon

Twilight Zone (1980's, Season 1).......2007-04-12
I recorded every episode of this on VHS tape during the 80's when it was first-run. It is OUTSTANDING! It is MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better than the UPN series that aired in 2003 or so...buy this if you are a Twilight Zone fan, and don't be surprised if you like it more than the original series...
Collectors Item...Grab it !.......2007-02-23
I did not really care that much for this new updated version of the TZ, but for 43 episodes and Amazon selling it now for ONLY $14.99 i'm sure this set HAS stopped being made and as time goes on it will be harder and harder for people to find and will become a collectors item!!
the zone.......2007-01-10

Trans-Generational Idea.......2006-08-02
I'm 54 years young. Some of my more vivid childhood memories are of huddling on the couch at age 5 or 6 and watching things like "One Step Beyond", "The Outer Limits" or Rod Serling on "The Twilight Zone". Little wee B&W TV with rabbit ears. I'll never forget the way those shows made me nervous; when you're a kid it seems like anything is possible.
I have a 7 year old daughter now. Our "Twilight Zone" compendium arrived last week and we watched the first few episodes last night. Big Screen, Surround Sound. She sat curled up in my lap. Because, when you're a kid, anything's possible.
An Excellent Bargain, too!
Great.......2006-07-26
I don't know why this season only ran for one season. I thought this was a very good deal awesome episodes at a great price.

Exceptional Viewing.......2007-05-07
This film no matter how long ago it was made, still holds it charm, Quality, made. Good acting good storey, always worth a second look.
Not the best........2007-01-15
I got this movie because James Darren was in it. He was good as was France Nguyen. They play the only likeable characters in the main cast and neither makes it through the whole movie. Of course I knew that when I bought it.
A good old movie.......2006-03-25
I remember this movie when it came out, so that really "dates" me. I was young when it was released, and I loved the stars of it (well most of them) and it was the beginning of a love affair with Hawaii. The story line is old, it's that outdated stuff about prejudice over skin color, that is similar to the West Side Story theme and others of that time. But I really enjoy the acting of everyone in this (although not a Charlton Heston fan) and although I am younger than Yvette Mimeux as a young girl I thought she was so beautiful and I was such a fan of hers. Also back in those days I was a James Darren fan (especially being a South Philly girl myself as a child) despite his small role in this and also a George Chakaris fan and I so enjoy the acting and the beautiful scenery. If you are young and you don't care for old movies, this won't do it for you. If you're older like me, it could bring back some memories. If you just enjoy movies, you will like it.
Diamond Head.......2005-10-13
A movie I can watch over and over. Some painful truths set in a beautiful place and time.
Tropical Tantrums.......2005-09-07
I have always enjoyed this movie. Set in glorious Hawaii, Charlton Heston is his usual best with a great support cast. This movie lived up to my memory of first seeing it years ago. It mixes the underlying tension in Hawaii at that time, with the explosive forbidden love tangle. A very pleasant film in many ways with exquisite scenery, good acting, set in a great era and has nice closure. A must for Heston fans.

Description
This powerful performance was recorded at the London Astoria on November 4, 2005. The show captures the resurrected band storming through all their classics including "The Prince", "Sucking My Love" and "Lightning To The Nations". The DVD includes an exclusive interview with the band and as a bonus, the making of "All Will be Revealed" filmed by Mike De Jager has been included. Deeply affected by Diamond Head's idiosyncratic style, metal legends Metallica have covered "Am I Evil?", "It's Electric" and "Helpless", all of which are featured on the DVD. Both Metallica and Megadeth have famously cited the band as an important early influence.
