Based on the writings of Australian author Mark "Chopper" Read, a real-life criminal who recounts his misdeeds (including the severing of his own ears to win release) in books with titles like How to Shoot Friends and Influence People, Chopper is a stomach-churning spectacle from which you cannot pull away. In the opening scene of Andrew Dominik's vicious first film, Chopper jabs a man's face full of holes with pliers and proceeds to offer him a cigarette while he lies bleeding to death on a prison floor; contrite but obviously mad, he then asks sincerely, "You don't like me much, do you?" Somehow it's grotesquely funny. Shooting in bleached-out blue prison cells and corrosively lit nightclubs and flats, Dominik sets a spare stage for the film's true revelation, standup comic Eric Bana's explosive debut. Reminiscent in scale of Russell Crowe's first lead outing as a sadistic skinhead in Romper Stomper, Bana's performance is at turns fearsome, hilarious, and mesmerizing. --Fionn Meade
Description
Chopper (Eric Bana) is Mark "Chopper" Read, real-life convict and bestselling author of "How to Shoot Friends and Influence People." His story is frightening, savagely funny and twisted. The son of a devoutly religious mother and a one-time soldier with a fondness for sleeping alongside a loaded gun, Chopper dreams of making a name for himself as a legendary crime figure. His journey starts out as a wisecracking criminal failure, inside a maximum-security prison, but he manages to twist his life into a fascinating and wickedly funny take that the press and the public can't get enough of. Audio Commentary by director Andrew Dominik and Mark "Chopper" Read; Deleted Footage; Trailer; Interview with Mark Read

With a reported budget of $172 million, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines starts in high gear and never slows down. The apocalyptic "Judgment Day" of T2 was never prevented, only postponed: John Connor (Nick Stahl, replacing T2's Edward Furlong), now 22 and disconnected from society, is being pursued yet again, this time by the advanced T-X, a sleek "Terminatrix" (coldly expressionless Kristanna Loken) programmed to stop Connor from becoming the savior of humankind. Originally programmed as an assassin, a disadvantaged T-101 cyborg (Arnold Schwarzenegger, bidding fond farewell to his signature role) arrives from the future to join Connor and his old acquaintance Kate (Claire Danes) in thwarting the T-X's relentless pursuit. The plot presents a logical fulfillment of T2 prophesy, disposing of Connor's mother (Linda Hamilton is sorely missed) while computer-driven machines assume control, launching a nuclear nightmare that Connor must survive. With Breakdown and U-571 serving as worthy rehearsals for this cautionary epic of mass destruction, director Jonathan Mostow wisely avoids any stylistic connection to James Cameron's Terminator classics; instead he's crafted a fun, exciting popcorn thriller, humorous and yet still effectively nihilistic, and comparable to Jurassic Park III in returning the Terminator franchise to its potent B-movie roots. --Jeff Shannon
Description
A decade has passed since John Connor (NICK STAHL) helped prevent Judgment Day and save mankind from mass destruction. Now 25, Connor lives "off the grid" - no home, no credit cards, no cell phone and no job. No record of his existence. No way he can be traced by Skynet - the highly developed network of machines that once tried to kill him and wage war on humanity. Until?out of the shadows of the future steps the T-X (KRISTANNA LOKEN), Skynet's most sophisticated cyborg killing machine yet. Sent back through time to complete the job left unfinished by her predecessor, the T-1000, this machine is as relentless as her human guise is beautiful. Now Connor's only hope for survival is the Terminator (ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER), his mysterious former assassin. Together, they must triumph over the technologically superior T-X and forestall the looming threat of Judgment Day?or face the apocalypse and the fall of civilization as we know it.
Customer Reviews:
Second DVD reveals the real "stars" of the film.......2007-06-17
Though the casting is perfect (Arnold again in his trademark role, Kristanna Loken as the sexy and equally as destructive "female" cyborg, and Nick Stahl appropriately looking like the spawn of Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn) and the direction and pacing is tight and relentless, the DVD provides insight into the technical artists that are responsible for the fantastic effects of the movie, along with the preceding films in the franchise.
The second DVD in the compilation profiles Stan Winston, visual effects director, and his talented staff as they explain the many "tricks" of the trade in the making of this movie.
Though it might be a bit disconcerting to discover the process behind "movie magic," just revelations are informative to those that are really into the technical aspects of filmmaking.
Much has changed in the almost twenty years since the first film was made and this sequel; and the filmmakers are anxious to explain the "how's" and "why's" of said change.
Good movie, looks amazing in HD.......2007-06-14
The video quality is nothing short of spectacular.
Tame third instalment.......2007-05-08
Passable only extension to the terminator franchise, this serves only to set the stage for more potential films. As a stand alone product it's pretty futile, Sarah has died, John is still living on the fringes whining a lot, a new improved terminator wants him dead and Arnold wants to keep him alive. Much of this repeats stuff you've already seen in T1 & T2, but tamer as they clearly want to keep the rating as low as possible. Scenes that went over well in the first two get recycled almost unchanged in three, it's depressingly derivative.
Linda Hamilton wisely bailed, Arnold needs so much make up to combat the ravages of time he looks rubberised, the new caste members aren't really good enough to take up the load and the jokes are so laboured they creak. It's entertaining enough, but you really wonder why they bothered.
Good Quality - Not the Best of the Trilogy.......2007-05-07
The HD DVD comes with excellent picture quality. The sound is amazing.
But Terminator 1 was definately the best one of the trilogy.
Anyway if you like it, this HD-DVD is a must in the home collection.
T1 and T2 in a blender.......2007-04-20
As with the years that passed between the first and second films, the speculation as to wether or not a third film was going to happen at all was very high. We all heard the conflicting statements of both Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Cameron. Finally Cameron said he would do it if 20th Century Fox would release it. Obviously that didn't happen and Arnold changed his mind after saying No.
The story of T3 is mediocre to average at best and I'll tell you why. To begin with, a lot of necessary exposition is missing. The writers essentially left out a major plot point with the former Cyberdyne Systems and Miles Dyson. Having a situation where Dyson designs Skynet's hardware and Brewster designs the software would have tied T3 a lot more strongly to the franchise. Another thing is what happens to Sarah Connor. This character has basically been the pennacle of the Terminator mythos. If the reigns have to pass from Sarah to John that's fine. But it would have worked better that we see her killed trying to escape after Skynet comes online.
Lastly the concept of The Terminatrix. Now just to be clear, I don't mind a woman being a Terminator. What I do have a problem with is the writers splitting hairs trying to differentiate the T-X from the T-1000. Now we could all see the difference between Arnold and the T-1000. But if the best they can do is showing the T-X endo during a copy, then that won't cut it. There are ways to come up with new concepts on something established. Maybe that's where Cameron could have worked some magic.
The only two things that worked for me were Arnold's description of what will happen in the future in terms of the war. The ending surprised me though. It set up the fourth film pretty well. The missing elements Cameron's nightmarish vision and storytelling smoothness are what crippled this film. Not bad, but could have been better.

Horse lovers young and old will celebrate this utterly enjoyable and marvelous-looking animated film. The titular stallion runs free in the Cimarron (New Mexico) wilderness until a series of men try to master the proud horse, leading to adventures through a U.S. Cavalry fort, Native American settlements, and a railroad camp. Despite a heavy dose of political correctness and realism (the animals don't talk; we only hear Spirit's internal monologue, voiced by Matt Damon), directors Kelly Asbury and Lorna Cook give their hero many only-in-a-movie moments, including an action sequence rivaling any of Rambo's escapes. The stirring mix of 2-D and 3-D animation is absolutely stunning and aptly fueled by composer Hans Zimmer's synthesized score. The film earns one demerit for '80s rocker Bryan Adams's abundant songs--a different singer could have brought more to the film. Rated G but there is some rough treatment of horses shown, so nix the sensitive preschoolers. --Doug Thomas

LOVE THE MOVE, MUSIC GREAT, AND NEVER GET BORED WITH IT
Spirit: a terrific movie for kids.......2007-05-10
This DVD is a favorite of one our our grandchildren, age 4. He has played it over-and-over in the 3 weeks he has had it.
"My sister likes it".......2007-04-28
Well this movie has
Excellent music
A good plot
And strong characters
A family favorite.......2007-01-31
this movie is a favorite of our entire family, including the music (we bought the CD). The only part that is mildly concerning is where the colonel orders that Spirit be starved for 2 days in order to break his spirit. the colonel hopes that this will show his men that he can control anything. but you are relieved when Spirit not only refuses to be ridden but escapes.
Good messages. nothing offensive. I secretly hope my [...]will pick this when he wants a movie, as I enjoy it so much myself. My husband is also a fan.
Don't let some of the negative comments keep you from seeing this movie!
Great movie.......2007-01-10
My son - 3 years old - loves this movie. It is really cute and he loves the songs too.

Eric Bana - A Stellar Performance .......2007-05-18
I absolutely love this movie!
Chopper is an enigmatic strikingly honest and tongue in cheek view of a large part of the life of Mark Brandon 'Chopper' Read.
Since watching the movie I have visited his website and I encourage everyone reading these reviews to Google Mark Chopper Read and visit his site.
I found the link to his "Quotes" most entertaining!
Back onto the topic of Eric Bana and his performance. It is rare that an actor is able to immerse him/herself so completely in a character and be utterly convincing.
Bana does this with aplomb and must be given kudo's for this. His mannerisms are undistinguishable from Mark Read's. The way he talks and even ennunciates his words. The weight gained for the later years of Chopper's life lends even more authenticity to Bana's performance.
All in all a rather funny and honest look at the effect the press can have in raising someone to glorious heights. Whether deserving or not.
Best Book Ever.......2007-05-14
Simply the best book i have ever read. Mark Chopper Brandon Read is the man and i am buying all his books as i am sure they are as awesome as this one.
Great Movie, Great Actor.......2007-05-13
I had never heard of this movie or Eric Bana until I borrowed this movie from a friend. All I can say is wow, what a performance. The physical transformation undergone by Eric Bana in this film is amazing - comparable to that of Robert DiNero in Raging Bull.
Definately not a film for the faint of heart. There are some pretty graphic (violent) scenes in this movie. Yet, the film manages to mix in a good dose of humor.
If you like dark comedies, you will like this film.
Never let the truth get in the way of a good yarn.......2006-10-12
When i first heard Eric Bana was going to play the part of the famous, or should I say infamous Mark 'Chopper' Read, I couldn't believe my ears. I never thought he'd pull it off. You see Eric was a very well known stand up comic in Australia and had appeared in many television sketch shows before breaking into his first film role in 'the castle'. It wasn't until I actually saw the movie chopper you get an appreciation of what a great actor Eric really is.
Being a comic actor also enables Eric to mimic characters, and he has copied Chopper Read very well, right down to every fine detail. His look, walk, speech and even his laugh. You can see in the special features when Eric meets the real Chopper Read, the way he soaks up everything Mark has to say, his look of intent in his eyes learning everything about his character. There was also the 4 hours of make-up each morning before shoot getting all his skin tattooed for the camera. And the 3 months binge eating of junk food to gain the extra 30 kgs needed to play the older chopper in the movie.
I would have to say this is the best acting by an Australian in a long time and Im so glad he is getting the the recognition he deserves.
As far as the movie goes itself, I would say it is a dark comedy, often violent at times and contrary to belief it is actaully about 80% true. It is a good insight into the mind of psychotic social misfit.
The special features are excellent with two audio commentaries. One by the director and another by chopper himself, which itself is very entertaining to listen to. A great insight.
There is also a trailer, deleted scenes and A weekend with Chopper - when the director and star Eric Bana interviewed chopper on his farm in Tasmania.
A great movie, also look out for Vince Colosimo who plays Neville Bartos. A name you will definitely be hearing more of in the future.
overated.......2006-09-29
all of these positive reviews puzzle me..i was expecting this movie to at least be watchable,..it's not..the story is obviously 80% dramatized but he claims it's real. you'd think it wouldn't be as boring as it was..a lot of things are dumb and pointless in this movie. it wasn't even that violent. the movie is kind of a joke if you ask me..it's not even worth the rent..i watched an hour and had enough

Let's just say Dr. Phil wouldn't last 10 minutes with the squabbling Teutels of Orange County Choppers in Rock Tavern, New York. American Choppers, the wildly entertaining reality series from cable's Discovery Channel, is a hybrid television show blending serious family dysfunction with gearhead razzmatazz and deadline tensions in a motor shop (as with that other Discovery series, Monster Garage, where nonconformist engineers work frantically to build unique vehicles). Choppers concerns generational feuding between two highly talented designers and builders of one-of-a-kind, sometimes beautiful choppers (no, no--don't call them motorcycles), a father-and-son team who happen to share the same name. Fiftysomething Paul Teutel Sr. is the walrus-mustachioed owner of OCC, a boulder of a man with a sharp tongue, ironic sense of humor (he's the first to laugh hysterically when he and his son, simultaneously backing out of OCC's icy driveway in a macho display of speed, collide their trucks) and passive-aggressive tendencies. Even to a casual viewer, Paul Jr., OCC's Chief Fabricator and Designer, is clearly the target of his dad's mid-life anxiety over creeping irrelevancy. But the younger Teutel has a nasty streak, too, especially a working knowledge of how to make his father feel isolated, marginalized, even unloved.
Most of the 13 episodes in this boxed set find Paul Jr. immersed in some kind of expensive project, building a spidery display chopper for a big trade show in New York City, a NASCAR-themed bike for a special event, or a Firebike to honor the fallen firefighters of 9/11. In each case, Paul Sr. hovers over his son's shoulder, observing skeptically, criticizing one or another detail, barking about the schedule. Junior fights back, attacking what he perceives as the old man's cluelessness, mocking his unwanted efforts to collaborate. It's ugly, but it's also compelling and somehow even fun--perhaps because both men are so transparent in their complementary issues. Not every episode is full of friction; there are lighter moments and times of emotional release and bonding. Late in the season, when Junior's brother Mikey gets involved in the family business, an added layer of sibling rivalry brings a whole new dimension to this unusual psychodrama. --Tom Keogh

My students love American Chopper DVD's.......2007-03-14
I have used the American Chopper series in my Management 101 class for a couple of years. Rather than have students role play various scenarios, I pull out sections of the escapes of the guy's at OCC to discuss issues and concepts of management and supervision. Both entertaining and informative.
KEEEEP BUILDING.......2006-03-25
I really like this show. And since I didn't start watching it untill the middle of the third season, I bought the DVD. However, upon consideration. I may buy all of the seasons offered since shows made for the Discovery Channel are unlikely to show up in syndicaton on some other network.
Orange County Choppers-Season One.......2006-02-01
What can I say, I am addicted! The personalities of Paul Sr and Paul Jr and son, Mickey, along with their valuable employees (Vinnie, Rick, etc.) is quite entertaining. Not only do they build "dream" bikes, but it's fun to get a glimpse of a successful business and its daily operation and the adulation that it has brought them. An American Dream, that's what it is. As an owner of a small business myself, I wish I could get away with yelling at my daughter, the way Sr yells at Jr, and not have her talk back to me in a disrespectful way. Hats off to Jr......if you love motorcycles, buy this series, fun fun fun!
I Love the OC.......2005-10-26
I don't think there is a better show than American Chopper. Can't wait for season 3.
SWEEET.......2005-10-09
This is an awesome dvd series anyone who is an American Chopper fan will love this DVD. The shows that are on this dvd are Black Widow....Race Car....Fire Bike....Daytona Bike Week....Old School Chopper....Comanche Bike....Mikey's Bike...I would HIGHLY recommend this product to everyone

American Chopper The Series - Second Season.......2006-02-12
I have to say season two is just as excellent as one. The Teutuls haven't changed they still love to argue about as much as they love to build bikes. The POW/MIA Chopper Sr. creates along with the help of Rick, Cody, Mikey and Campo is incredable. The custom paint job designed by Justin Barnes is far beyond awesome. The same goes for the Snap-On bike and the Miller Welding bike, Paul Jr and Vinnie out done themselves with the creation of these bikes and of course Justin's paint work was bitchin as usual. I understand an agree with Sr's desire to keep the shop presentable however, I was pissed Sr. placed the responsibilty of shop cleanliness on Vinnie, this is really where Jr's work ethics come into question as a shop foreman he should have shouldered the responsibilty in ensuring everyone who works in there cleans up after themselves. It did say alot about Vinnie's character and commitment to the company that he not only took the brunt of Sr's anger over shop cleanilness he aggressivly worked to clean it up and got back to working on the bike without missing a beat. Overall again I believe most people who watch American Chopper or Motorcycle Mania will be forever hooked.
Another Great Season.......2005-10-22
This set is the second season of American Chopper. I am pleased to say I don't think there was as many screaming matches in this series as there was in the first. Although they still do have a couple of doosies and in one episode you have to wonder why Vinnie doesn't quit in disgust! There did feel like there was a couple of "filler" episodes with this series, in particular the Football Bike and Mikey Special. The Mikey Special was just a wrap-up of what we have already seen in the last two seasons so I felt it was a waste of space. Regardless of that, still enjoyed the second series immensely and am hanging to buy the third!
Disc One:

American Chopper.......2005-10-10
The best ever! Such creativity, originality and lots of fun! Watching this dvd makes you want to ride OCC bikes! Can't wait to get season 3!
Good Show.......2005-09-14
Nice bikes, talented builders, and some comedic moments. By the way, the Dixie Chopper episodes are on season 3...it's right there on the cover of the box.
personal vendetta?.......2005-07-14
Oh Mr. Grizzly. Six times? What overkill! First of all, Sr. owns the business. He doesn't have to build the bikes; he has employees for that. His job is MANAGING, which involves paperwork and bossing people around. Regardless, he has built bikes on the show. In the first season he built the old school bike with Cody and a bike for Miss Lucy; in the second season he built the Christmas bike and the POW bike. As far as people who don't own motorcycles buying OCC merchandise: what a ridiculous statement. Do I have to be a doctor to enjoy ER? Do I have to be a SPY to enjoy Alias? Do I have to be dead to enjoy Six Feet Under? Of course not.
American Chopper is not just a show about motorcycles. It's about family dynamics, work, friendship and craft. Most of the bikes built are ART; and the Teutuls themselves admit that the ones with the huge turning radii aren't meant to be ridden, for the same reason you wouldn't hang a Degas over your couch.
As much as I love the show, I do have a problem with the box set not including all the episodes of the season. There seems to be no good reason for the omission, but I'm not going to throw a hissy SIX TIMES over it.

American Chopper The Series - The Third Season.......2007-05-15
Nothing but the best...gotta love the family feud and the bikes!
Gotta Love the Teutels!.......2007-02-14
As with the first two seasons, it's the continuing story of this talented but dysfunctional family and its hugely successful custom chopper enterprise. Aided by some of the most incredibly talented employees in the world, (Vinnie, Rick, Jim,Cody, etc) they have taken a small family business and turned it into probably the premier custom motorcycle manufacturer in this country. But it is also a study in inter-family relations, a comedy, a drama, and for we ladies, something of a "babe-fest"! Lots of eye-candy here ladies!!!
Abusive Father and Submissive Son Make Bikes.......2006-04-17
This series really sucks. Now, I don't how much of that Paul SR dude is for real or how much of his acting is hyped up for "Good TV". But let me tell you something, if that dude is as insane as he appears on T.V. and I was his son, I'd leave and start my own company.
That series just grates on my nerves, to listen to that jerk scream and yell and put people down all the time and say the F-word like every other word. It's no wonder his wife divorced him.
Paul Jr. does makes some good bikes and he is really talented, and it's really cool to see the end result.
But you have to deal with hours and hours of that insane man's mental baggage before you can see the final product.
Many times Paul SR. has impaired judgment on many of the things he says and asks of his coworkers. I think cleaning up your work area, while you are working is just insane. It's a shop for gods sakes.
Perhaps he was just abused as a kid and now he's taking it out on his son. Or perhaps "hollywood" has written some pretty convincing scripts for him, and he is just an actor.
Spare yourself being bored and the agony of listing to an unbalanced, red neck freak yell and scream.
Just go to their website and see the final products or if you do get the dvd, just fast forward to the end.
better yet, Don't buy into this junk. It's worthless television.
Paul Jr. should get the hell out and start his own company. He wouldn't be able to run it, he's more of a craftsman, but I think he would evolve and grow much better. A human being can't grow and evlove under the thumb of an abusive jerk like that. Father or no father.
The're probably millionares many times over from "good acting" or "behaving normally" whatever the case is. So why would they want to mess up a good thing?
If you spend your hard earned money on this DVD, it's only going to end up in your next garage sale in a few years when their stupid show is no longer popular. You're not buying a classic movie here.
The bikes ARE cool no doubt about it, but you'll look back 10 years from now and say, "I can't believe I acutally sat through and watched that c*ap!"
This is just junk, hollywood hyped television at it's best. Avoid it.
Great Series.......2006-02-24
Some great bikes are featured. Classic family conflicts. Good buy for this DVD set.
Loved it.......2006-02-17
I really liked this DVD the fabrication, designs and beautiful bikes they come up with are great. Can't wait to get the Fourth Season.

They'll always be there...period.......2005-02-26
I always admire them for the way they achieve even tho I'm their biggest fan. It's sad that they disband 'cuz of a lack of knowledge and support, y'know. But they'll try hard next time.
I believe that they'll still live on to the fullest. As for Babs, Young City (aka Choppa), and Ness still stayed for Bad Boy except those that left and didn't nothing against them Dylan (the reggae rapper), Sara (the love singer and the 1st singer on the group), and uhhh...let's see...Fred I forgot (he was always ignorant like Choppa for example).
Ok to make this short, I believe that they'll gon start over unless they gon do something about it. When I watched the entire show, it's was crazy and very important to me. Yes there were a lotta fights goin on, messing around, cussing, fooling around, playing games and of that little stuff they're doin.
One thing I like about Ness is that he isn't afraid to show his testimony to the group so now he's off his own putting a new release which 'bout to hit real soon.
And for others included, I never forgot, but I know who u are for example.
Look forward for seasons 2 and 3 comin out on DVD and check out season 4 comin' out on MTV which gon be a girl group this time on Making the Band 3.
Dont Own This..........2004-09-03
I Don't own this but I loved the show and hope they release this on VHS b/c I don't own a DVD player. Making The Band 2 had some extremely talented people and was entertaining in other aspects as well. I hope they release the other seasons, though this is unlikely since Da Band is no more.

Customer Reviews:
WORSE MOVIE EVER. .......2007-03-27
This movie is one of the worst horror films ever, i'm serious. DO NOT purchase, or watch this movie. At first, i thought this was a comedy film because the movie was so freaking stupid that it made it funny. I would not, ever, ever, rate this movie higher than 1star. The 'gore' in the movie looked fake, pathetic movie, it was ironic.
Excellent Horror Flick.......2005-09-14
Dr. Chopper is an excellent movie of cannibalism and plastic surgery gone awry. Twenty years ago Dr. Chopper disappeared when the police discover dead bodies at his office - since then people have been missing around Lake Tatonka and dead bodies have been popping up all over.
Turns out Dr Chopper needs body parts to stay alive and has been taking them from youngsters, like a pair of lesbian lovers and bunch of sorority girls out on their initiation. Backed up by some ghastly nurses, Dr. Chopper needs these body parts in order to achieve immortality. He is able to stir up terror in the hearts of his victims, and you really do sympathize with the young college kids, when this deadly 80-year old turns up on his bike, sporting his leather suit and goggles.
If you want to have a good time then this is the right choice! Sure Dr. Chopper is low budget, but the acting is good and the story has some really tense moments and some great scares!!! I guarantee you that this film will leave you in horror film-heaven.!
Plot? Some. Dialog? Overdone. Acting? A little........2005-09-12
Well, I didn't think this would be the best movie out there. Even for it's genre. The overall plot concept was not bad, but the details were pretty weakly done. I did find the movie's pacing to be quite well done though. The opening scene really set the plot moving and the first of the main group of kids to get it was a surprise.
The dialog was dreadful in places, especially the first scene with the two main kids, the guy's lines are terrible! Things are somewhat up and down from there on this front. I know its a movie, but even there its a bit of a stretch that apparently for 20 years hundreds of people have disappeared in this little town, only to later have their body parts show up, and the police never investigated.
There are no special features on this disk and barely even a menu. Does a DVD really have SP and LP? Why do they put that on the menu, only tapes have different speeds of play. Not that they allow you to choose one or the other. You will really have to turn down the volume as well, the sound is recorded incredibly high.
