Since winning an Academy Award for his exuberant performance in Jerry Maguire, Cuba Gooding Jr. has gotten little but static from critics for a spate of calamitous career choices not seen since '80s-vintage Burt Reynolds. But he triumphantly returns to Oscar-worthy status with his moving performance as Radio, a mentally challenged young man, whom South Carolina high school football coach Harold Jones (Ed Harris) takes under his nurturing wing. This does not play well with the school's patient but questioning principal (Alfre Woodard); the school's biggest athletic booster, who views Radio as a distraction; the man's son, the team's star player, who plays cruel pranks on the trusting Radio; and the Coach's teenage daughter, who feels neglected. Almost all will be won over by Radio's trusting and good nature. Based on a Sports Illustrated story, Radio was adapted for the screen by Mike Rich, screenwriter of The Rookie, and as in that superior family film, the heroics are mostly off the field. As Coach says, with all the subtlety of a blitz, "We're not the ones been teaching Radio; he's the one been teaching us." The ending, in which we see the actual Radio, still cheering his team on 26 years later, will melt the most cynical hearts. --Donald Liebenson

The unlikeliest cult hit of 2004 was What the (Bleep) Do We Know?, a lecture on mysticism and science mixed into a sort-of narrative. Marlee Matlin stars in the dramatic thread, about a sourpuss photographer who begins to question her perceptions. Interviews with quantum physics experts and New Age authors are cut into this story, offering a vaguely convincing (and certainly mind-provoking) theory about... well, actually, it sounds a lot like the Power of Positive Thinking, when you get down to it. Talking heads (not identified until film's end) include JZ Knight, who appears in the movie channeling Ramtha, the ancient sage she claims communicates through her (other speakers are also associated with Knight's organization). What she says actually makes pretty good common sense--Ramtha's wiggier notions are not included--and would be easy to accept were it not being credited to a 35,000-year-old mystic from Atlantis. --Robert Horton

Thought Provoking.......2007-07-02
This is an interesting visual and scientific exploration of the Hermetic Principle "The Universe is Mental". Or at least that's what I got out of it. I highly recommend it for students of metaphysics, occultists, magicians, and even people simply interested in theories about quantum physics. It's worth watching a few times.
Defective DVD from Amazon.......2007-07-01
I bought this DVD from AMAZON over 60 days ago so it is over the return policy date. It was a birthday present and I it bought early. I sent the item. It was returned to me becuase the DVD was defective. The picture ran but there was no audio. I have just emailed Amazon my request for a refund. I do not know if they will refund it or not. I am listing this not as a complaint but to state that I was given a defective DVD.
Tripe........2007-07-01
What the Bleep!? is nothing more than New Age tripe. A haphazardly directed B movie with laughable early 90s special effects, a schizophrenically discordant plot-line, pompous wanna-be quantum physics "experts" and one woman named JZ Knight who could probably be diagnosed with DID and delusions of grandeur, this "documentary" is nonsense and a waste of any serious person's time.
Go for your Dreams.......2007-06-30
Why not? Keep your head on straight enough to be healthy and love. However, why not go for your deepest dreams with everything you've got? You may not buy everything in this film, but hey, a closed mind gathers no knowledge. Give it a chance and take what you want and leave the rest for another moment.
Very Deep.......2007-06-30
I love this movie/documentary, althought I have to admit that it took me awhile to get into it, but once I did, oh boy, it was like a light bulb suddenly flashing in my head. It made me think about everything in life in a new way, my whole life perseptive change after viewing this movie. Don't miss it !!

Arguing With Myself, a recorded live performance of ventriloquist Jeff Dunham, portrays a comedian whose revival of an old-fashioned art has made ventriloquism more relevant to modern societal concerns. Starring his six main characters, from Bubba Jay, a Nascar-obsessed hick, to Peanut, a flamboyant gay monkey, Dunham's puppets have dirty but relatively inoffensive senses of humor that mock the American Dream. One can easily see why Jay Leno champions Dunham, as his skits contain a similar sly sarcasm disguised as wholesome teasing aimed at men indebted to their ugly wives, for example, or people who live their lives working in cubicles. At times, though, Dunham's humor seems to lose its ironic distance, especially as he interacts with puppets like Jose Jalapeño, a Cuban chile pepper, or Sweet Daddy D, a Black pimp, both reliant on the antiquated humor once popularized in cartoons by racial caricature. Since the entire audience in the film is white, it is difficult to assess whether or not African-Americans or Latinos would find Dunham funny. In other words, Dunham's humor isn't overtly offensive enough to make fun of ethnic heritage. However, his skills as a ventriloquist alone make him a fascinating entertainer, and anyone interested in how puppetry and ventriloquism has progressed over the decades would benefit from watching Dunham bring life to his wooden friends. --Trinie Dalton
Description
Breathing life into an elderly curmudgeon, a purple human-like creature from the Micronesian islands, and a self-effacing talking jalapeno on a stick, Jeff Dunham is straight man to some of the funniest partners in show business! His comedic skill and impeccable technique serve as slight of hand however, drawing attention away from the fact that Dunham is a ventriloquist extraordinaire.
It's Jeff Dunham along with his outspoken and often edgy characters: Walter, Peanut, Jose Jalapeno ("...on a steeek!"), Bubba J, and Sweet Daddy Dee in their full, uncut, and uncensored live stage show that will leave you on the floor laughing like no other!

This is one of the funniest videos I have ever watched. It never fails to make me laugh. We have bought the same video and given it to at least 4 other people who all rave about it. We quote it all the time. I would highly recommend it to anyone who needs a few minutes of humor.

Light years before political correctness--1983 to be exact--or his comeback in tame Disney comedies, Eddie Murphy was a charismatic, wonderfully offensive, egocentric 22-year-old black comedian known for crude celebrity impersonations and often shockingly frank diatribes on racial and sexual politics. Dressed in a skin-tight red leather suit and delivering endless streams of obscenities faster than Richard Pryor ever did, Murphy is captured in this raunchy HBO special (a filmed document of his Grammy-winning album, Eddie Murphy, Comedian) at his confident, swaggering, comedic peak--a posture that soon disappeared after a string of bland Hollywood comedies. Here, however, his energy and sheer virtuosity command complete control over the audience for 107 minutes, whether he's mocking personalities like Elvis, James Brown, and Stevie Wonder, or spinning long, gag-filled personal anecdotes about the ice-cream man or dysfunctional family barbecues. There's no apologizing for the immature stereotyping, blatant homophobia, and sexism (though Murphy did so several years later) that surface during the routine. But, then again, unlike his much nastier, one-sided concert film, Raw, no topic here is safe from Murphy's uproarious tongue-lashings--including the comedian himself. --Dave McCoy

"Your wife's a bigfoot Gus".......2007-06-21
My favorite aunt and uncle rented this when I was 11. I don't know if they thought Eddie would be like "O-Tay" or had a clean act like Bill Cosby but thank God he didn't. What followed were some of the funniest, raunchiest, most quoted lines of comedy of my childhood. From the ice cream man to Aunt Bunny to G.I. Joe and all of the classics, they make you laugh just as much as they did 20+ years ago. I'm glad it's FINALLY out on DVD!
I laughed.......2007-06-10
I laughed, I cried, I give 2 thumbs up!!! Funny as can be, and a classic!!! I recommend this to all comedy lovers!!!
Loved it!.......2007-05-17
I watched this when I was younger, maybe 14, and loved it; didn't get some of it then, but still loved it. Every now and then, I would think of it and wish I could see it again. I am so glad it's been re-released and is on DVD. Eddie Murphy is a funny man no matter what he is doing. I love all his movies. This is when he is only 22 years old and maybe some of his first work, but it is well worth the price to see it.
It shouldn't be seen by younger veiwers because of graphic language, but adults everywhere SHOULD see this and just have a laugh.

In Dress to Kill, Eddie Izzard spins free-flowing jokes about San Francisco (where the comedy concert was filmed), transvestitism, squirrels, American optimism, Hitler, the British royal family, mass murder, and Stonehenge--and that's only the first 30 minutes. It's as if this ingenious comedian says whatever comes off the top of his head, but giving that impression demands cunning and skill; Izzard romps through human history and transforms surprisingly complex ideas into biting satire--as well as knockout bits of sublime frivolity, like describing the movie Speed entirely in French. His mercurial patter is sprinkled with four-letter words, but his twinkling glances make this more mischievous than crude. Izzard has delivered some excellent performances in movies (like Velvet Goldmine and The Cat's Meow), but it's on stage that he really explodes with daffy wit and charisma. Simply brilliant and completely addictive; you will want to watch this over and over. --Bret Fetzer
Customer Reviews:
Pure genius.......2007-07-03
I am a bit hard to please in the comedy department, usually looking for someone who is not incredibly idiotic while also looking for someone who does not make me think too hard. Eddie Izzard fits the bill perfectly in my opinion. While the make-up may throw a few people off at first, it is forgotten within five minutes of beginning his hilarious routine.
My family discovered this incredible comedian years ago, and he has not failed to keep us roaring with laughter since. To this history geek, he is especially funny in his descriptions of Hitler and chastizing Americans for not knowing their own history (because we really don't). My brother, however, prefers walking around Wal-Mart pretending he is riding a mo-ped and saying "Ciao" every few minutes. In short, there is something for everyone with Eddie Izzard.
I had not thought that he was so popular before due to a certain tendancy my brother and I have to confuse people in our hometown by constantly quoting this particular performance. I am glad to know that so many others appreciate this man's comedic genius as much as I do. "Dress to Kill" is still our favorite and looks to remain so for years to come.
One word.......2007-06-14
Hilarious.
Ok, maybe a second word.
Genius.
hillarious.......2007-06-12
The quintessential Eddie Izzard. This show is funny from start to finish. He goes into some history and if you know you're basics it's even better, but you don't have to know anything. I have watched this DVD several times now and it's still funny to me.
P.S. "Did I leave the oven on?"
Cake or Death! Here is a hysterical entertainer!.......2007-06-10
I discovered Eddie watching HBO in a hotel room about 3 years ago & I was looking for him ever since. I finally recognized him in Ocean's Twelve & then found a friend who was a big fan. I bought DEFINITE ARTICLE Eddie Izzard - Definite Article & that I give 4 stars!
What I love about Eddie is how smart the guy is. I am pretty overrun on comics who can only talk about the most degrading things they can come up with. Eddie uses his intelligence & education wisely & deftly to a very funny result.
His style is more like a casual chat with a friend where you go off into a few stream of consciousness rants (on such varied topics as shopping or the bible) & then blend the story lines until you sort of have this place where Robin Williams & early Monty Python's Flying Circus melt into a surrealist monologue befitting an Alices in Wonderland tea partys for Adults!
Oh & btw he is a heterosexual transvestite! That in its self is an anomaly! It adds to the surrealism because he does not break off into some expected gay rant on women's clothing but is just a "bloke" (guy) who fancies women AND the clothing they wear!
The actually does part of the routine in French which amazingly enough the audience laughs along with him & some German and Italian. He has a running bit about Vespas that's very funny.
The best bit is where he goes over the Spanish Inquisition being running by the English called CAKE or DEATH. I won't ruin it for you but it is hysterical.
Now if your idea of humor is Beavis & Butthead or Lisa Lampinelli or South Park or Eddie Murphy then you will probably not like this. But if you like Robin Williams and Monty Python, (& you enjoy comics who challenge your knowledge of Latin!) you will want this in your permanent DVD collection, believe me!
Enjoy!
Killer humour.......2007-06-01
A tour de force for Eddie Izzard. Over 2 hours of outstanding comedy; I highly recommend it, especially for those with a warped sense of humour.

This is Kathy AT HER UNCENSORED BEST ! .......2007-07-03
Kathy Griffin's Life is D-list - only according to her. To her fans, she is A -list all the way, and this DVD proves it! 'Allegedly' is Kathy at her uncensored, straight-up, no-holds-barred, un-bleeped best. This a stand-up routine from 2004 that is just as hysterical today, and it's definately something you'll watch over and over. Whether she's dishing on Brooke Sheild's mom, Gwyneth, Barbara Walters and the ladies of The View or any other random celebrity in Hollywood, Kathy shoots straight from the hip, and takes aim at everyone! No one is safe from her razor sharp wit or her acid tongue...even if it is only 'allegedly' true! This lady is amazing to watch onstage. You can almost see her mind racing from one hot topic to another, and she'll make you laugh so hard, your sides will hurt. When was the last time that happened? Pick this one up NOW, and enjoy it. You won't regret it.

Funny, whitty, and wonderful. The special clips at the end show what a truly compassionate and kind person she is.
The only celebrity to really tell it like it is ! .......2007-01-21
We've all had our suspicions that Hollywood celebrities really do believe they are better than us "normal" folks, and thanks to Kathy Griffin, she confirms it! Her stories about her fellow celebrity androids are hilarious. And as a result, Hollywood hates her! And they wouldn't hate her if it wasn't true. If you celebrity gossip and heavy sarcasm, Kathy is your woman! Prepare to laugh your 'you know what' off!

Frequency is really two different--though inextricably linked--movies. First, the emotional drama of a father and son reunited after 30 years of separation. Then there's a science fiction thriller, in which a couple of chance solar storms, occurring exactly 30 years apart, can provide the agency through which the father and son can communicate using the very same ham radio in parallel time frames of 1969 and 1999. The son is John Sullivan (Jim Caviezel), a cop, and his father is Frank (Dennis Quaid), a firefighter who died on the job when John was 6, which just happens to be tomorrow for Frank when he and his now-adult son begin talking across time. This is great for John, because now he can warn his dad about the upcoming fire and avert the catastrophe that left him fatherless for most of his life. Accomplishing this gives John new memories of his life with Dad, but unfortunately alters the course of a serial killer, with tragic effect on John's family history. Since John's a cop, and the case he's working on turns out to be the same unsolved case from 30 years before, he and his father work together over the ham radio to solve the case and hopefully avert the tragedy that befell their family.
Time-travel stories have always been problematic, demanding either an extra degree of credulity on the part of the audience or an extra level of explanation on the part of storytellers, which is invariably cumbersome. Frequency handles the troublesome time paradoxes by having John explain how, having altered his past, he now experiences both timelines, as if he's had two pasts that converge in his present. And as changes continue to be wrought in John's past, we see him becoming more and more confused. No doubt the audience can sympathize, at least those of us who try to follow the ramifications of the rapidly accruing time fractures. Luckily, the bond between father and son is so strongly realized in the deeply felt performances of both Caviezel and Quaid that you don't even need to consider the science fiction elements in order to enjoy the film. But if you can suspend your disbelief long enough to allow for the possibility of time shifts, you'll have a far richer experience. --Jim Gay

A Rare Gem.......2007-07-03
One of those "new idea" movies, in-which you have not seen the concept before. Part Sci-fi, mostly mystery, great entertainment. Keeps you on the edge of your seat with suspense. You root for the relationships between the characters! It is very heartwarming, should bring a few tears to your eyes!
Making it Right.......2007-06-18
Frequency is a remarkable movie. I just discovered it and am glad to see that others continue to add their comments here. First, I must applaud the premise - the use of a ham radio as the device that connects father and son in a supernatural way. My uncle was a ham radio operator and even taught classes. It had a tremendous mystique all its own.
Dennis Quaid is fabulous. He effortlessly portrays Frank Sullivan, a man who is passionate about his values, devoted to his family, and larger than life as a fireman. The movie opens to this father's heroic rescue of a pair of workers trapped underground after a tanker crash. He comes right home to the wife he loves, the son he loves -- John, his "Little Chief" -- in the home he loves; he has it all. Moving forward thirty years, we meet the adult John. James Caviezel tears me to pieces in these early scenes as we learn that this father died in a fire 30 years ago. John is a cop working homicide. He is still living in the house he grew up in. He did not completely recover from his father's death. He drinks to find numbness and his girlfriend (who he loves) walks out on him. But he is a good man in his own right. His mother's phone number is on his speed-dial and he takes the time to stay involved in her life. On this difficult night in October 1999, as he approaches the anniversary of his father's death, his childhood friend Gordo (Noah Emmerich - The Truman Show) helps set up his father's old ham radio that they find looking for fishing gear under the stairs. Later, with the aurora borealis glistening overhead, father and son make contact on this radio over the distance of 30 years. Awesome! My favorite scene on the DVD is captioned "Catching Up," and takes place after a skeptical Frank, up to his ears in smoke and flames, follows his son's frantic warning that he should "go the other way" to safety rather than the death that John remembered. On returning home unscathed, Frank, accidentally wakes his six-year old son, evolving into a joyous bike-riding lesson. He then finds adult John's voice on the ham and they catch up. At one point, Frank asks adult John if he is still his "Little Chief" and James Caviezel's tearful reply "I'm trying to be" is profound. Dennis Quaid and James Caviezel run with their roles here. They are two great American actors at work.
The entire cast is wonderful. Elizabeth Mitchell as wife and mother plays so much love and strength into her role. The screenplay, by Toby Emmerich, brother of Noah, is tight, tender and imaginative. (The brothers do a great commentary together on the DVD special features.) The crime-thriller sub-plot is gripping and the ending satisfying.
Let's rewrite H.G. Wells.......2007-06-16
A thriller that associates many interesting elements. First a serial killer, running after him, trying to stop him, in the radical way of today, a good self-defense shot. Then a fireman (yes not very politically correct: firefighter it should have been, but in 1969...) father and heroism, and dying on duty. Then a nurse mother, which is rather banal but explains the overworking schedule of the mother and the over-protective attitude. Then a time warp that happens in a strange way, through an old radio from the time before transistors and computers, with beautiful lamps and diodes. The orphaned son of the fireman father in 1999 gets in contact through this radio with his father in 1969 or about and they try to stop the killer. After discovering he is a cop. And it works, and the past is changed, and the future of that past is changed, hence the past future is no longer what it could have been or should have been and is what we would have liked it to be. Father, son et grand son. Grandfather, father and son. Three generations instead of two and the orphaned son of the second generation no longer being unable to cope with starting the third generation. Typically American: the desire to change the past, the only thing you cannot change. The future? Maybe if you try hard, and yet without any guarantee. But the past, no way, no hope, and yet there is always an American somewhere who is trying and believing Auschwitz can disappear in thin air. But the most difficult part of the film is the constant shifting from one time to another without being very clear all the time where we stand or are. Except that we get confused after a while.

Outstanding movie. Thank you Amazon........2007-06-14
Though FREQUENCY is a bit old but has a brilliant story. Everything is perfect. I searched for the complete DVD in our local shops (in Sri Lanka) but couldn't find. You know, most of the movies are copies and they don't have the complete stuff (making the movie, discussions, deleted scenes, etc.).
About the service of Amazon, I should say THANK YOU. When I put my order it said that the item should arrive between June 14, 2007 - July 25, 2007 and I got it yesterday (June 13). Simply brilliant. This is my second order with Amazon and I will definitely continue.
Frequency.......2007-05-12
Frequency is a totally different story-line than the usual fair and
a much overlooked fantastic movie. It certainly never received the
attention it should have. It is a movie you'll never forget and
definately want to own. If it seems slow at the beginning, stay
with it -- it gets really dramatic and when you figure out what is
going on, you'll be intriqued. Great Movie!

Robert Altman and Garrison Keillor combine reality and fantasy in this smooth, ebullient take on the long-running Prairie Home Companion radio show. Set during the show's fictitious last broadcast--the host station has been bought--the film has plenty of elements from the real PHC radiocasts, including a live audience and the sensational Shoe band. The onstage program is mostly music numbers, a beguiling mix of standards and old-style country. However, the show's usual comedy sketches are never presented, save for the commercial parodies--this may be a PHC show, but Lake Wobegone is never mentioned. Instead, the sketches are played out as backstage banter that feautres the Johnson Sisters (Meryl Streep and Lily Tomlin), a harried stage hand (Maya Rudolph), a former listener turned angel (Virginia Madsen), and Keillor himself (a crusty alter-ego named simply G.K.). A few characters from the real PHC are given life: the singing cowboys Dusty and Lefty and gumshoe Guy Noir are embodied by Woody Harrelson, John C. Reilly, and Kevin Kline, respectively. Old flames are fanned, stories are spun, new talents are found (Lindsay Lohan has a chance to shine as Streep's daughter) and everyone wonders if G.K. will do something to ebb the tide of cancellation (personified by Tommy Lee Jones as the corporate Axeman). All of the actors do right as singers, and seem to be having the time of their life. Keillor's screenplay is perfect fodder for Altman's usual brand of storytelling, as characters babble on with the camera picking them up often in mid-thought. The film appeared a few months after Altman received an honorary Oscar, and the director is still at the top of his game, creating this smile-inducing, song-filled time, ending with an ethereal last musical number. --Doug Thomas
Customer Reviews:
A Prairie Home Companion.......2007-07-04
If you except to find the dumb comedy that's on TV today, you will not enjoy this movie. Otherwise it is very funny and entertaining.
If only negative stars were possible.......2007-07-01
This movie is horrible. It's like sitting with your elderly relatives who talk of nothing but the way things used to be, except the reminiscences in the movie hold none of the value that your relatives' stories carry. Layered on top of the endless "remember whens?" is mediocre singing performances and Virginia Madsen wandering around the set like she's got amnesia. I wouldn't recommend this film to anyone.
Great Movie if You Like PHC, Folksy Things, or Minnesota.......2007-06-30
Robert Altman, Merryl Streep, Garrison Keillor, Lilly Tomlyn . . . Great cast and crew. True to the spirit of the radio show, with a clear Minnesotan spin on reality.
(Look for me in the shadows when Kevin Kline first enters the theater!)
Elegy for the variety show.......2007-06-18
Many more people are fans of Garrison Keillor's NPR radio hit, "A Prairie Home Companion" than who can describe it succinctly. "PHC" is a show from a bygone era, where talented writers, comedians, and musicians put on a completely original two-hour show each week. Sure, there are some stock characters and common refrains, and the subject matter may be dated (old timey music features prominently, and the show is set in low-tech, changeless Minnesota), but each show is completely unique within those parameters. All in all, "PHC" is a time capsule showing what was good, decent, and just a wee bit naughty in Americana.
Robert Altman's movie, "A Prairie Home Companion," is an elegy for that beloved TV show. In a rather unbelievable set-up, a nasty Texas corporation (of course) has bought the beloved Fitzgerald Theater in downtown St. Paul and will tear down the lovely place to put up a parking lot. And so this show that has been a home for its fans and its cast for over 30 years must say goodbye. Altman then films the last episode, cutting away to the priceless behind-the-scenes moments when you see how these performers are a true family, and everyone's natural reaction is that "PHC" is a national treasure to be saved. Anyone who wants to tear down this beloved institution needs a comeuppance.
Garrison Keillor plays himself, as "GK," and he is ably assisted by a world-class cast of Meryl Streep, Lily Tomlin, Kevin Klein, John C. Reilly, Woody Harrelson, and many others. Fans of the real-life show may be a bit surprised that Keillor's regular "PHC" cast doesn't get much time to shine, but that's the way of things. Streep and Tomlin nearly steal the show as the singing Johnson sisters - who knew they could carry these tunes? Reilly and Harrelson are excellent personifications of Keillor's recurring cowboy characters, Lefty and Dusty, and their litany of bad jokes near the end of the show is priceless.
Kevin Klein is a bit fuzzy as Guy Noir, Private Eye. He's more buffoonish than his character on "PHC," but Klein pulls it off. When describing the Dangerous Woman (Virginia Madsen, an angel), Noir waxes poetic, "She wore a Mt. Rushmore T-shirt, and those old guys never looked so good." And Tommy Lee Jones represents the dastardly investors who want to destroy the show.
Shot in luscious tones and with all of Altman's visual artistry, "PHC" is quite simply a beautiful film. Slow and stately, to be sure, with many ruminations on passing and death, it is not always a bright and cheerful movie. But it is a loving one, and it is fitting that this was Altman's last film - he uses "PHC" to remind us to not spend too much time looking back or looking ahea, because there are some pretty darn good things with us in the present.
Dull.......2007-05-23
WTF??? Look, I listen to A Prairie Home Companion from time to time and I absolutely love Garrison's Lake Woebegone stories. But I don't know what the heck this is. Sure, I recognized all the characters. Guy Noir and Lefty and Dusty and blah, blah. But where is the plot? Okay, there's a thin one about the show being cancelled and all, but couldn't Garrison made this a little more compelling? People talking to angels like it's the most natural thing on earth. People dying and no one acting like they really cared. Oh, yeah they will go sing veiled songs, but really, I was bored to death. This movie was a huge disappointment for me.

Product Description
Recorded and broadcast live from New York City's Broadway Theater at the culmination of his historic 2002 sold-out tour, the Robin Williams "Live on Broadway" DVD finds the Oscar-winning actor/writer/comedian returning after 16 years to his stand-up roots to deliver what the Washington Post calls "...in its madcap way, a seminal cultural event."
"A report on the planet and a report from the planet for those watching from outer space," this DVD puts you front row at the comedy event - where "Williams pranced, flounced, minced, pounced, zigzagged, hip-hopped, whirled and twirled, talking nonstop about everything from surgically enhanced breasts to the great anthrax scare."
"Live on Broadway" captures the manic comic energy of Robin Williams in full hurrican force.

Sharper and deeper than Robin Williams's previous road material, Live on Broadway is a mature comedian's view of all things to do with power, prejudice, and paranoia in the 21st century. On the anthrax scare of 2001: "The Senate cleared out of their building but told the rest of us, 'Get on with your normal lives!'" On his solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict over Jerusalem: "Time share!" On the pitfalls of America's deepening alliance with Britain: "The House of Commons is like Congress with a two-drink minimum." A viewer may have to slog through Williams's tedious breast fetishism, but patience is quickly rewarded with bitchy takes on Martha Stewart facing prison, solid satire about French existentialist judges at the Olympics, and subversive op-eds about the Bush administration's inability to clarify terrorist threats to the public ("Has the CIA become the Central Intuitive Agency?"). --Tom Keogh

The Hairiest man alive is, coincedentally, the funniest man alive........2007-05-14
This is most likely the second funniest performance I have ever watched. It's amazing that this man can sweat through an hour and a half of constant hilarity. The noises reel made my stomach hurt. On a whole, this is good for anyone who likes to bellow like a charging rhino, or just laugh a lot.
awesome.......2007-04-10
If you love Robin Williams, this DVD is guaranteed to have you rolling in laughter!
Mr Robin Williams is briliant here.......2007-04-10
So far the best one man show I've ever seen.
Hilarious.......2007-04-01
WARNING: pause the show before you eat or drink anything or you're likely to choke from laughing! Robin Williams hasn't lost any of his stand up comedy chops. This performance goes at his standard frenzied pace and is absolutely hilarious. This is not for the easily offended as he is not politically correct.
Pretty good.......2007-03-28
This is a fantastically enjoyable disc. Robin covers a wide range of topics and is wonderfully offensive throughout. My only gripe is the manner in which Robin paces himself. This performance is frantic and relentless. This is definitely not for the fainthearted. Oh yeah, don't forget to put the kids to bed first before you pull this one out.

After I Spy and before The Cosby Show, Bill Cosby left his own inimitable mark on the arena of stand-up comedy in this live concert showcasing his down-to-earth observations on the rigors and joys of family life. Cosby, using only a microphone and a chair, discusses his take on raising kids and the illogical nature of children and the futility of trying to argue with a child that in the end may be smarter than you. Notable highlights include Cosby's ruminations on the meaning of the all-purpose phrase "I don't know" to kids, and Cosby describing the effect raising children has on his wife Camille's mental state and the pitch of her voice. Containing the basis for the humor of his long-running situation comedy, Bill Cosby: Himself is a polished, occasionally insightful, and frequently hilarious night of comedy from one of the longtime masters of the form. --Robert Lane
Description
One of America's most popular comedians, Bill Cosby treats his fans to a funny, satirical and heart-warming concert at Toronto's Hamilton Place Performing Arts Center. His material ranges from marriage and the unending trials of parenthood, to the side-splitting antics of the very young, and a hilarious encounter with a dentist's drill and needle. Insightful and witty, this highly entertaining film is a rare cinematic treat, filled with all the spontaneity and electricity that only a live performance can provide.

The best medicine to anything.......2007-06-30
It's really very simple. I bought this on laser disc about 18 years ago. It's a rosseta stone in my family. We all know it by heart, can qoute almost any line, and still we watch it. Everytime we watch it it's the same routine where we have to stop a few times because someone's belly is aching already from laughing, or someone's bladder is close to bursting. Get this and you will have the perfect medicine to anything. No need for prozac anymore.
Bill Cosby, Himself.......2007-06-27
This is the best show Cosby has ever done. He is hilarious and everything he says is true. I have looked for this for 25 years and Amazon had it, at a great price too!!!
Classic.......2007-06-27
I remembered watching this when I was younger and found it on DVD. It is perfect for a great laugh and I never get tired of watching it. It's Bill Cosby at his finest!!!!!
Fun comedy for everyone.......2007-06-14
Bill Cosby, Himself is an excellent title for this DVD. He talks about his life and all the things that families share. He will have you laughing out loud (my husband almost rolled out of his chair!) at the comedy in everyone's life. It is proof positive that making people laugh does not have to involve 4-letter words, other than love.
