Wild Things is the kind of lurid, trashy thriller that you'll either dive into with unabashed pleasure or turn away from in prudish disgust; it's entirely your choice, but we suggest the former option since it's obviously much more fun. The plot's so convoluted it's hardly worth describing, except to say that it's set in humid Florida and involves a respected high school teacher (Matt Dillon--yes, Matt Dillon as a teacher!) who is faced with accusations of rape by a student (Denise Richards, from Starship Troopers) who had been giving him the kind of attention most people would consider improper for such a "nice" young lady. Another student (Neve Campbell) raises a similar charge against the teacher, and that's when a police officer (Kevin Bacon) begins to investigate the allegations. Just when you think the movie's gone overboard with its shameless sex and absurdly twisted plot, in drops Bill Murray as an unscrupulous lawyer (of course) to spice things up with insurance scams and welcomed comic relief. As directed by John McNaughton (who has a way of making just the right moves with this kind of film noir melodrama), Wild Things is a bona fide guilty pleasure--the kind of movie you may be ashamed to enjoy, but what the heck, you'll enjoy it anyway. --Jeff Shannon

Wild thriller.......2007-03-15

This is a sleek, erotic and full of unexpected twists thriller. The cast is young, cool and made for these roles. But apert from the obvious sex appeal which help sell this film there is a very clever and fast plot that keeps the viewer interested and guessing. It is a sort of neo-film-noir directed to the young generation and the not so young generation. It all comes together at the end credits in a manner that Agatha Christie used in her own books.
Enjoy it.

Cool, classy, stylish...need i say more? Well, why not...

Rarely is a film worthy of 5 stars - this probably isn't but it certainly is quality.

Love this film. It's just great.

Great cast, great plot, great twist...good script

A film that has both Neve Campbell and Denise Richards in it can't be bad, especially when they have a very 'close' relationship in it. The ladies are ably assisted by Kevin Bacon and Matt Dillon who are both quality geezers.

Certainly unpredictable and well worth watching...but enough about the plot, the ladies are more important

The credits include significant actors, so you know the movie has to be good, right? Well, most of the movie elements are fine, except the script which is very light-weight in dialogue. Perhaps this is due to the difficult plot - more time writing to make that work than giving the actors something to say.

Worth watching just to see Bill Murray play a sleeze lawyer and Denise Richards playing herself!

Actually, the whole cast worked well together. Humid Florida wealthy trampy mom ignores daughter she in turn is manipulated by sleazy teacher, girl from the wrong side of the tracks is in on the con. This movie reminded me of "Palmetto" a little seen movie with Woody Harrilson and Elizabeth Shue. It wasen't a big hit but it was the same type of con game being played on some slippery characters. Enjoy!

You dont know who is who and what is up or down. ONe big Dirty Camp of a Movie..to describe it with only one word it would be....... YUMMY!

An Essential DVD For Kids!.......2007-04-08

This is a must-have DVD for kids and will be watched many times by your children. "Where the Wild Things Are" is of course by far the best of the short films, but the rest are entertaining as well and give a glimpse to the B-Side of Sendaks exceptional talent. I loved the jazz music that accompanied the videos, and my fvorite was "Chicken Soup With Rice," probably just because the music was so good. Be prepared for a few giggles if you're watching this with seven to eleven year olds, as there's a perfectly harmless animation of a cupid-like naked boy in one of the shorts. Only the prudest of Americans will find it politically incorrect, and European readers are probably wondering why American kids might giggle.

Maurice Sendak is a favorite and especially with Carole King "singing" the stories. My favorite and my class' favorite is Pierre - who can only say "I don't care " until he is taught an important lesson by a lion.

Where The Wild Things Are is great but In The Night Kitchen shows a little boy in the kitchen at night and he is wearing no clothes. I was disappointed that scholastic would put this on a dvd.

A classic, great collaborations.......2007-01-09

Those who are used to slick pixalated animation may be dissapointed and may not understand what these extraordinary and increasingly rare pieces offer. All three animations are so worthwhile and you'll be giving your child (or inner child!) a treat they deserve. Masterful visionary Maurice Sendak's artwork, Carol King's classic 70's sound and narrations by Peter Shickele [sp] (of PDQ Bach fame). Great stuff especially for baby boomers. My 3 and a half year old daughter dances around the living room to the crazy oompa/klesmerish music created for "In The Night Kitchen" and I couldn't be more delighted.

This is a pretty bad movie. The acting is mediocre, the plot is recycled from Wild Things 1 and 2 (as previous reviewers mentioned). The only thing this movie is good for is a lonely night when your only companion is a tube of KY Jelly. After the initial threesome, the only thing the two starlets seem to do is make out, including an additional topless make-out scene after during the end credits.

Also, the way the doctor talks about himself in the third person is hilarious. Seriously. If you don't have a case of serious blue-balls, but want a good laugh, rent this movie.

I'm not really sure what to say about this movie except I don't know about waisting time? I don't even know if it is possible to waist time. Do you need a belt for that waist? I'm pretty sure waist can not be a verb in any way except I think I just wasted my time writing this whole thing.

I thought they were going to just call it quits on Wild Things 2, but they really had to make a thrid one!!! I was just curious so I rented it one night and I thought the acting was just bad enough. I fell asleep though this one just like wild things 2. Don't waist your time!

Bad Movie, Good Softcore Porn.......2006-01-19

The first Wild Things had pretty good actors and an original story line. The second one was tolerable and still had hot chicks in it with a tich of an original storyline. Though it was far to close to the original storyline. Quite honestly the third one follows the exact same plot as the second one and I mean scene by scene close. Rich girl, step father, school auditorium scene, courtrooms, threesome. The only thing that made this movie worth anytime was the threesome. Perfect bodies on the girls that star in this film. Quite honestly I have no idea how they got anyone to agree to this project. It was horrible, It's amazing how many good shows get canceled but movies like this get made.

Wild Things 2, the purported sequel to the 1998 guilty-pleasure classic, returns to steamy Florida for another tale of trashy thrills among the lives of high school students. Wild Things 2 isn't really a sequel; none of the characters (and not surprisingly none of the actors) return, though there is a re-do of the original's most famous scene. As good of surprise that the original movie was, Wild Tings 2 surprised us again- in the opposite way. May be expectations were high, but this movie proved to be swallow and predictible, something that the first was not. If you have not seen the first one then this one could be watchedwith some interest and thatshow it gets the second star. A movie about a spoiled rich girl that wants everything and will stop at nothing in order to do it.

The plot to this movie or so called sequal is horrible. I rented this movie expecting something good and I end up falling asleep. I actually had to watch it several times just to find out what really happened. Don't even buy it, it is a waist of your money!

It's a movie that is certainly a sign of the times. It's a teen devises a way to get money type movie. It does contain murder and some skin. It won't win an Academy Award, but it's fun if you don't take it seriously.

Direct to video potboiler re-tread that never should have been made.......2005-09-30

This direct to video "sequel" is actually more of a re-tread of the original 1998 guilty pleasure erotic thriller/film noir potboiler, and another of the countless, and pointless, direct to video sequels to come from Sony/Comlumbia/Tri-Star as of late (Cruel Intentions 2 & 3, Starship Troopers 2, shall I go on?). Wild Things 2 focuses around a rich girl (Susan Ward) whose stepfather mysteriously dies, and the only thing standing in her way of inheritance is her high school rival (Son of the Beach's hot Leila Arcieri) who claims to be the man's true, biological daughter. Naturally, just like in the original, there are plot twists aplenty, as learned by an insurance investigator (Isiah Washington, giving a somewhat inspired performance), and naturally, there are double crosses, murders, and a redux of the first film's threesome, only it's not as erotic as the original's. Wild Things 2 isn't just a cardboard copy of the original with none of it's good points, it's a solid waste of film that even fans of the original film will hate. Is it worth seeing? Depends how much you liked the first Wild Things, but for the rest of us, just watch the original and forget this ever happened.
