Critics were ruthless when Give My Regards to Broad Street was released in 1984, but the passing years have turned it into an offbeat curio from Paul McCartney's post-Wings era. The ex-Beatle was roundly panned for scripting this empty-headed vanity project, and it still qualifies as a mistake of sorts, dubiously combining new performances of Beatles classics with a few Wings hits and tracks from McCartney's popular 1982 solo album Tug of War. Most of these songs are performed as semi-lavish, blandly filmed production numbers ("Silly Love Songs" comes off like an embarrassing mix of Michael Jackson's Thriller and a Flock of Seagulls reunion), and the whole movie reeks of cheesy early-'80s New Wave/MTV influence, even in the casting of Tracey Ullman as a leather-clad Londoner with streaks of red hair dye.

Description

Screenwriter/Star Paul McCartney creates a rousing musical fantasy about a pop singer/composer (McCartney) who discovers the master tapes of his new unreleased album have disappeared. If he doesn't locate them by midnight, businessmen will take over his company. Among the musical highlights are fourteen spectacularly staged McCartney tunes including Beatles classics "Yesterday," "Eleanor Rigby" and "Good Day Sunshine."

Paul is fun to watch..........2007-04-26

Paul is graceful. I hear something good in him all the time.
Ringo is explosive but well kept in his drumming scenes most especially
in "Not Such A Bad Boy". I enjoy seeing Linda McCartney in the scenes where she's playing keyboard. I feel a wonderful relationship with the crew and other members of the band as they ride thru each song.
Paul is mojo and in typical good form as he sings "Wanderlust" then tags at our heart with "Here, There and Everywhere".
Calm and well kept, I got my own meaning from it. I'll watch it again.

I'm so disappointed, I'm a big Macca fan but the quality of this dvd is poor at best(Too dark to make anything out at times!)

This is not a great film by any means. The acting is amateur and it is is poorly directed. That being said, it is still pretty entertaining. The music is really great and it is a pleasure seeing Macca perform with Ringo. If you really like McCartney, then you should buy this dvd. If you are a casual fan, you might want to rent it first.

LOVELY FILM.......2007-01-12

Paul is ovet time and this film say it again. Nice story, nice music. Many years ago I saw this movie and then lost. And now I find it here in Amazon. Thanks a lot. It's brilliant of 80th. Interesting story and nice persons make this movie unbelievable for long time. Nice mood and nice music. I very would recommend for all who like Paul.

I own and enjoy watching this. It's has great and beautiful music, but not much of a story. If you like Paul,Linda,Ringo and Barbara you will enjoy watching it.
