3 out of 5 stars Who killed the knight?.......2007-06-05

Medieval paintings and a chess game seem like unlikely murder components, but they set off the whole plot of art puzzle/murder mystery "Uncovered." The adaptation of Arturo Perez/Reverte's novel is picturesque and has some good acting, but suffers from a total lack of suspense when it comes to whodunnit.

Art student Julia (Kate Beckinsale) is delighted when an X-ray of a old painting shows a Latin inscription: "Who killed the knight?" The trio in the painting includes a medieval duke, his young wife, and a French knight who was pretty obviously having an affair with the wife. With the help of her cheating ex-boyfriend and mysterious chess prodigy Domenec (Paudge Behan), Julia unravels the question of who killed the knight -- and why the picture was altered after it was finished.

But that isn't the end -- Julia's ex-boyfriend turns up dead in the shower, and the kindly old owner of the painting dies within days. And with each death, a corresponding ivory chess piece is left on Julia's doorstep. As brutal heirs and conniving art dealers scrabble for the painting, Julia tries to unravel who is behind the killings -- before black queen takes white queen...

"Uncovered" is more interesting as a clever art puzzle than a murder mystery, set in Barcelona's sunny colourful streets and ancient castles. It is genuinely fascinating to see the hidden meanings of the chess game and its hidden meanings, as well as the politics of Burgundy versus France. This part is intriguing, intelligent, and genuinely has an element of classical mystery.

Unfortunately, it sags when it turns into a murder mystery (with a bit of nudity thrown in), loosely tied into the medieval murder with the use of chess pieces. The murderer's identity is glaringly obvious even before he's killed anyone, and the campy, shrieky finale suffers because you already know who he is. Even the callous heirs to weren't enough to throw off the scent.

This was only Kate Beckinsale's second major role, so perhaps she can be forgiven her mediocre performance. She's middling most of the time, and occasionally lapses into hysterical crying. John Wood is a scene-stealer as the devoted gay guardian Cesar, backed by Sinéad Cusack as a catty aging party-girl and Michael Gough as an ailing aristocrat. No, I don't know by British actors are playing a slew of Spaniards, but they do a good job.

"Uncovered" is an intriguing art mystery, but it trips over itself in the second half when it becomes a mysteryless mystery. If it weren't for that, it would be simply brilliant.

2 out of 5 stars Special Features not included.......2007-05-15

This picture is based in the famous spanish novel "La Tabla de Flandes" from Arturo Perez Reverte (Alatriste), but the picture is boring, with slow and bad acted characters. This particular DVD doesn't include subtitles, not even spanish nor english. In this case the box announce this special features, watch out with this problem.

5 out of 5 stars Paudge Behan Fans Attention.......2007-03-08

Uncovered is one of Paudge Behan's earlier movies and as in all of his films he is wonderfull add a very young Kate Beckinsale and you have a great film. This is one you have to watch to appreciate and I think once you have seen it you will want to watch it again. So grab a glass of wine sit back and enjoy you are in for a surprising treat.

3 out of 5 stars Tepid murder mystery.......2007-02-18

In "Uncovered", Kate Beckinsale plays a woman living in Barcelona Spain restoring a very valuable 500 year old painting of two men playing chess and a woman watching them. She discovers an inscription on a layer of paint underneath the top layer that translates to "who killed the knight". The painting's owner tells her the story of an ancestor being murdered and he may be the knight in question. She discovers the mystery centers on the game of chess being played in the painting and enlists the help of a young chess genius to deconstruct the game and predict upcoming moves. As she investigates the mystery however, people around her begin to die.

"Uncovered" is a trite mystery. It's enjoyable to watch to an extent, but it has a very annoying soundtrack and the acting isn't particularly good, even Beckinsale in an obviously early role for her (and her haircut is awful). There is no real suspense to anything that happens. The chess game in the picture being at the center of the mystery was interesting as was comparing the moves to what happened 500 years ago and what was happening now, but the movie as a whole never grabs you completely. The tone is a little too light and airy for a murder mystery.

5 out of 5 stars Take a look at the truths about the Iraq war that the bush administration did not want you to know........2007-06-15

In this DVD documentary, many current, former and retired military and intelligence officers some of whom were weapons inspectors and members of counter terrorism units contest President George W Bush's reasons for going to war against Iraq. Some of the other speakers include former ambassadors, scientists, Journalistic editor, a former white house counsel, and former assistant secretaries of defense and a congressman. Some who consider the title and content of this documentary might dismiss it, as the Bush administration has, as democrat partisan politics. But, actually some of the speakers are know republicans.

Their speaking out in this video expresses serious interest and concern for the United States and its international relations and international policies that come out of patriotism and many years spent in careers in service to the United States; not partisan politics.

Some of these speakers have suffered the unjust public humility of having their political alignment and even their patriotism questioned in the public media when they first spoke out in opposition to the Bush administration's claims about the existence and production of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and about links between Saddam Hussein's regime and al Qaeda terrorists, which were later proven to be groundless.

Some of these speakers have written books on related subjects which are available here on Amazon.com.

In this documentary we see former intelligence officers speaking out against the misuse of intelligence and the intelligence agencies of the United States by the Bush administration to produce faulty information in processes known as data mining to justify preemptive war against another nation in violation of laws legislated to safe guard against this type of abuse of power.

A former CIA analyst tells us of how he was brought into a meeting of intelligence agencies before the Bush administration in which the intelligence director of the Department of Energy ordered his subordinates to remain silent so as to offer no opinion or statements to contradict the President's case to go to war against Iraq. Members of the Bush administration were making statements designed to lead intelligence officers to align them in support of the administration's agenda to go to war against Iraq behind false reasons.

Counter terrorism team members tell us here about how there is no relation between Iraq and al Qaeda terrorism.

Many CIA officers were in opposition to Iraqi exile Achmad Chalabi as an intelligence information source because he had no credibility among the intelligence community. Achmad Chalabi was telling the Bush administration what it wanted to hear. The Bush administration wanted to believe that what it wanted to hear from Chalabi was true.

In a form of circular reasoning, the pentagon was supplying information to Achmad Chalabi's Iraqi National Congress to present as intelligence to support the case to go to war.

The Bush case for war in his state of the union address was full of bad information to deceive congress. Former White House attorney for Richard Nixon, John Dean reminds us that it's a felony to give false information to congress. This should lead to the conclusion that the Bush administration is impeachable for presenting false information as its reasons to go to war against Iraq to congress.

Information and evidence used to justify and rationalize the war on Iraq is examined along with a forged document which was supposed to show that Iraq attempted to buy yellow cake to make nuclear weapons. Everyone now recognizes that the document was a forgery. Condoleeza Rice is shown saying that no one in the Bush administration knew that the document is a forgery. Joseph Wilson of the United States Foreign Service is shown saying that he was in a position to know that the Bush administration did know that the document was a forgery prior to its use as evidence that Iraq attempted to buy nuclear materials from Niger. Joseph Wilson was sent to Niger to investigate whether or not Iraq had bought nuclear materials which could be used to manufacture nuclear weapons. His findings led him to conclude that Iraq had not bought nuclear materials from Niger. Joseph Wilson had publicly criticized the Bush administration's mobilization for war on Iraq based on discredited information. As a result the administration leaked information that Joseph Wilson's wife was a CIA officer as a reprisal for publicly criticizing the Bush administration Iraq war agenda. Careers of exposed CIA officers are ended by public exposure. Such exposure also has the real potential to jeopardize the officer's safety as well as the safety of their previous contacts. Such exposure also jeopardizes any projects or missions to which they have been assigned. Since this video has been released White House aid to Dick Cheney has been identified, tried and found guilty in a court of law for leaking Valerie Plame's identity as a CIA officer. Exposing the identity of CIA officers is illegal.

The documentary shows video coverage of then Secretary of State Colin Powell's presentation to the United Nations on February 5, 2003 to justify the Bush administration's mobilization for war against Iraq.

Former CIA officers pick apart the evidence and information being presented by Colin Powell and expose false evidence, discredited information and fallacious reasoning of the Bush administration behind Colin Powell's presentation to the United Nations.

The first time I watched this video, I rented it from the video store. I liked it. so, I bought it online. The DVD I bought online does not have all the information that was on the DVD that I had rented. It's missing a lot of the extra interviews that were in the "special features" option of the menu. But, it's a great video documentary that exposes many of the lies that the Bush administration has been hiding behind.

David Kay is one of the weapons inspectors who searched for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. He is one of those who came out and publicly said that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq in contradiction to what the Bush administration had been telling the public.

One point of reason that is also very compelling evidence that there were no weapons of mass destruction is that not one person in the United States military nor of the coalition forces who has been involved either in the invasion of Iraq or its occupation has been killed by weapons of mass destruction since the start of the invasion. It is unthinkable that they would not have used them by now if they had them.

Chas Freeman sums up the Bush administration's score in Iraq:

1. Weapons of mass destruction in Iraq as justification for invasion exposed as a lie. None have been found.

2. Links between Saddam's regime and al Qaeda in Iraq as justification for invasion of Iraq exposed as false. There is no information on the existence of any links between al Qaeda and any Iraqis prior to the United States invasion of Iraq. The continued political vacuum in Iraq that resulted from the United States military occupation of Iraq has created conditions in Iraq that have drawn al Qaeda members and al Qaeda member wannabees from everywhere into Iraq to turn it into a major recruitment and training center for al Qaeda. Where as there had been no members of al Qaeda in Iraq prior to the invasion, they are there now, drawn by the presence of our military and the absence of Saddam's ruthless security.

3. Regime change as an agenda item in Iraq by the Bush administration has become simply regime removal, resulting in a political vacuum. The current democracy set up by Paul Bremer probably will not survive whenever the United States leaves from Iraq.

4. Attempts to democratize Iraq has resulted in polarized desecularization of Iraq between extremist islamic factions of Shiite and Sunni muslims. Neither are likely ever to build a state friendly to the United States.

5. The Bush administration is attempting to install freedom in Iraq under United States military occupation and democracy in Iraq administered by the United States military. It is pointed out that this came after campaigns of bombing which was followed by invasion. The invasion of Iraq followed almost ten years of sanctions which were imposed upon Iraq and its people. It's not likely that they will learn to like us anytime soon after living through an experience and a history such as this.

5 out of 5 stars And now, for the real story behind it all.......2007-05-07

To begin with, a nice approach by the producer was to introduce a long list of expert witnesses with decades of combined experience in intelligence, foreign service, and other fields that make up a bulk of testimony in the program. This really sets the tone for credibility when uncovering all the facts and shows that there is still integrity left in the world. As stated in the program at one point, part of being a patriot is not being afraid to tell the truth despite the consequences of doing so.

There is little speculation anymore about September 11, 2001 being the catalyst for war on Iraq and the war on terror. For getting us into Iraq, we have to lay the burden of proof (or guilt) on our government and their dubious methods of sending dire messages of danger that were never really there. It started out with WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction) and gravitated toward terrorism at a later time. It is quite interesting to watch the video footage showing the government contradicting themselves before and after 9-11 using the evidence they fabricated, manipulated, and doctored to transfix a populace and justify an invasion. Using a National Intelligence Estimate employing questionable tactics such as `selective intelligence' and `data mining', these and other methods were used to help convince the bureaucracy that our presence in Iraq was absolutely necessary. Broken down into simple terms, there just wasn't any concrete evidence of chemical, nuclear, or biological weapons, the systems to deliver these weapons, and no facilities or materials to even construct these devices. There is basically no evidence anywhere that showed any serious attempts to question or investigate the spurious allegations of our government, defectors, or intelligence data during this time period.

Moving further along, it was the position of our government that terrorism played another vital role for reasons to occupy Iraq. First, it was for the part they played in the World Trade Center attacks (Iraq has subsequently been shown not to have been involved) and their link to Osama Bin Laden and his Al-Qaeda terrorist network (again, Iraq was not identified as having had any dealings at that time with him or them). Once again, it is demonstrated that our government is comfortable with being deceptive with the public and the 'official' facts and data proving these allegations are non-existent for all intents and purposes.

`Uncovered: The War on Iraq' is actually an updated version of an earlier documentary remade with about 30 minutes of new footage. I've only seen this latest version myself but it is more than enough to leave a lasting impact on me. I feel this program was well produced and presented and the messages contained within are very important and necessary. In addition to a few special features, there is an added segment of 35 minutes called Soldier's Pay. This is an enlightening series of interviews with several individuals regarding their antiwar issues. For those interested in this DVD, another excellent choice exploring similar issues is `On Native Soil'. I highly recommend both of these documentaries to everyone.

5 out of 5 stars The whole truth and nothing but the truth!!!.......2007-05-01

"The Bush administration made up its mind to go to war on September 11, 2001. From that time on, you were dealing with rationalization and justification for the war. You weren't dealing with real causes for the war or real reasons for the war. There was never a clear and present danger. There was never an imminent threat...So by the late 1990s, let alone 2003, it was clear that Iraq did not have a nuclear weapons program, but over and over again, President Bush, Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld, particularly Vice-President Cheney, but also [then] National Security Advisor [Condoleezza] Rice, drummed up the idea of a reconstituted nuclear capability."

The above was said by Mel Goodman, a former 20 year Senior CIA Analyst. This and many more comments are found in this riveting and fact-filled documentary that examines the actual arguments, speeches, and "spin" given by president Bush and his senior advisors before, during, and after the Iraq invasion.

There are no scene selections for this program but it is divided into segments. These are as follows:

(1) The Experts. (There are 25 that provide analysis throughout the program.)
(2) President Bush State of Union Address January 28, 2003 (and analysis)
(3) Secretary of State Powell's address to the United Nations (and analysis)
(4) War (declared on Iraq) March 19, 2003
(5) Cost of War
(6) 16 words (in the State of the Union Address that were misleading)
(7) Terrorism after the war

As mentioned, there are experts that provide analysis throughout. All of them have twenty plus years of experience. Some of these experts include a former ambassador, weapons inspectors, a former director of the CIA, a former assistant director of defense, an anti-terrorism expert, former CIA analysts, and a former CIA operative.

Archival news footage and images abound in this film. There are also news headlines. The actual narration is this film is minimal. The archival footage comes from the following sources: (1) CSPAN (2) CNN (3) ABC (4) NBC and (5) CBS.

Finally, the DVD (the one released in 2004) is perfect in picture and sound quality. The extras (35 minutes in total) include extended interviews, behind the scenes interviews, and trailers.

In conclusion, this is a revealing, fact-filled documentary. A must-see for not only those who do not support the Iraq war but especially for those who do support it!!

5 out of 5 stars Dont be fooled.......2006-12-28

I skimmed the first 20 reveiws and noticed two one star ratings. After reading their reveiws I noticed they were not critical of the documentary or its merits but rather the audience the film was intended for along with it's left leaning production team. It is a fantastic film that every patriotic American of every political bias should see.

5 out of 5 stars Slam Dunk........2006-10-19

You can say what you want about the way this piece was put together, or the choices of arranging the material. Personally, I would have liked it to be a bit longer and taken a chronological rather than a topical approach. But hey.

Uncovered is still a fantastic documentary work. Firstly, there is an impressive roster of guests. There is no narrator, instead it is a composite piece made up of expert commentary. The experts include a surprising amount of insiders and high-ranking officials. You're not going to have some yahoo's voice telling you their version of the truth, you get the facts straight from reliable authorities. For that alone, God bless the producers of Uncovered.

Since 9/11 happened and the administration turned their eyes to Iraq, I went from scratching my head to screaming at my TV. If you're one of the crowd that knew better all along and didn't support this thing from the get go--the crowd that didn't just scream "no war for oil" but actually knew how and why the case the administration was making didn't make any rational sense and was full of logical fallacies and false assumptions--then you'll already know most of what's in here. This is the documentary that SHOULD have came out before the bullets every started flying. In short, Uncovered is more scholarly and journalistic than Fahrenheit 9/11, and make a stronger and better-illustrates the reasons this war never made sense. Rather then delving into Bush's ties to the Saudis (however suspicious and interesting those ties might be) and rather than arguing a quasi-conspiracy theory, Uncovered gives you a hard look at the real facts, the real arguments, and an adult appreciation of the facts. While I loved F9/11, this film has everything that I felt was missing from that other film without any of the melodrama.

Here it is... the real other side of the story. The real anti-Iraq case, free of fluff and from the mouth of people like Ray McGovern and David Albright, with original sources like footage of the words of former Anti-terrorism Czar Richard Clark, and using the words of administration officials themselves to show that when it comes to "flip-flopping" no one does it better than the Bushies. It's not preachy, and it doesn't have a the hefty liberal slant that Michael Moore admittedly puts into his work. This film has integrity and intellectual honesty.

In summary: this is the argument that I only wish SOMEONE would have stood up and given to the American people before March of 2003.

Description

If 2004 was the year of the documentary, Robert Greenwald was its brightest and most prolific star. The three acclaimed documentary films featured in this collection were all commercially released in 2004, and all forged unprecedented new ground in how documentary films could be released. With the support of MoveOn.org, The Center for American Progress and other dedicated groups, the films were marketed initially via the Internet before they arrived in stores on DVD. Further turning established wisdom upside down, all three went on to play in theaters around the world. A new distribution mechanism was born.

In the Bonus Disc, available only with The Robert Greenwald Documentary Collection, Robert has a special message exclusively for its owners in which he explains the genesis of each of the films. Also included are former Assistant Secretary of Defense Philip Coyle discussing how the experts in Uncovered were right in an exclusive new interview; the notorious O'Sexxxy Factor montage; a previously unseen outtake from Outfoxed revealing more about Murdoch; Al Franken's hilarious outing of Bill O'Reilly; an all new interview with an ex-Fox News employee spilling the beans on his former employer; trailers, teasers, shorts and much more!

5 out of 5 stars The Robert Greenwald Documentary Collection.......2007-05-07

His movies tell the truth, and he makes sure it is a fact, after he finds it. Get any movie he makes, it will be 5 star everytime.

5 out of 5 stars Essential Viewing.......2007-02-23

All of Greenwald's films should be shown free at theaters and available at public libraries. In addition, movie stars should pony up their funds and pay for these films to be shown on network TV, or at least cable. Stick one of these in place of American Idol one night. Half the people would change the channel for their usual mindless fluff. But maybe half would watch and that would be millions of potential Americans who might learn, and hopefully engage in the political system.

5 out of 5 stars Outfoxxed-Unconstitutional-Uncovered.......2007-02-22

These DVDs ought to be required viewing in every classroom and every household in America. They are extremely well done and absolutely riveting in exposing dangers inherent in the machinations that are driving our country.

5 out of 5 stars Robert Greenwald Documentaries are perfect for Introduction to Mass Media classes.......2007-01-05

I originally purchased this collection because it was the only place that I could find "Outfoxed," which I had wanted to use in my Introduction to Mass Media course. However, I found that its contents covered more than just the Murdoch documentary. "Uncovered" works well when the class is dealing with the chapter on Public Relations, in that it offers an in-depth look at spin control as well as crisis management. "Unconstitutional" works increadly well with the chapter on Legal Ethics and legalities involved in mass media. I haven't watched the bonus disc yet, but I highly recommend this collection to anyone teaching any type of journalism course.

4 out of 5 stars Politics: Who Cares About The Facts?.......2006-07-05

Who cares about the facts; the truth? I do. Evidently Robert Greenwald doesn't. This so-called "Documentary Collection" will live historically as evidence that Mr. Greenwald, et al, have distorted the facts for purposes of promoting their own self interest.

This is the kind of thing and the type of people that gives our party, Democrats, a questionable odor. In this respect, their efforts have failed to attract the intelligent portion of our party to support their project.

I give it 4 stars for production quality and for distortion of facts, which seems to be the real purpose and their true goal, also 4 stars.

I'm sure there are some who will disagree with my review. Be advised: I simply call things like I see and hear them.

    Description

Just a few miles from fabled Pompeii is Herculaneum, another city buried and frozen in time by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in A.D. 79. Today, geo-archeologists are chipping away at the soft rock, revealing that this city, unlike Pompeii, was not suffocated by falling ash. Rather, it was engulfed by blistering pyroclastic flows that instantly caused horrific damage to those it encountered.

    Product Description

It was a bombshell that titillated and provoked the American imagination at the time of its release. Now, the 70s cult classic Debbie Does Dallas gets its due in DEBBIE DOES DALLAS: UNCOVERED, a fascinating peek at the turbulent lives and times surrounding the world s most famous porn flick. Featuring interviews with the original cast, as well as producers, directors, and other leading lights of the porn world, DEBBIE DOES DALLAS: UNCOVERED offers rare and deeply personal insights into the dark secrets of the adult entertainment industry including the drugs, the exploitation and the prurient thrill of having sex in front of a camera. The film also takes a smart, fresh look at the intense scrutiny and outrage that Debbie Does Dallas provoked, from a lawsuit filed by the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders to the FBI s investigation of the film s Mafia funders. And with help from the few people who knew her in the porn world, filmmaker Francis Hanly probes the 25-year-old mystery of star Bambi Woods, the small-town girl who played "Debbie" and then mysteriously disappeared, never to grace the screen again. Neither dismissive nor uncritical of pornography, DEBBIE DOES DALLAS: UNCOVERED audaciously ventures into tawdry territory with chutzpah and humor, turning an artless but groundbreaking film into a fascinating discussion of sex and culture.

Those looking for titillation from this droll observation of the sociological impact of one of the most notorious porn films of all time will probably be disappointed. Broadcast on British television in 2005, Debbie Does Dallas Uncovered (originally known as The Curse of Debbie Does Dallas) is nonetheless a good-natured little documentary along the lines of Inside Deep Throat that takes a fun, matter-of-fact look at the adult film industry in one of its early incarnations (the 1970s). The film attempts to uncover the "mystery" of starlet Bambi Woods who made only a few other appearances in porn before disappearing into obscurity. It also explores the mob angle and some of the dangers associated with organized crime and the FBI's interest once porn became more lucrative and mainstream. More entertaining is the sense of nostalgia that comes through in the modern-day interviews with those who participated in the making and marketing of Debbie, and how a micro-budget movie that by all rights should have quickly faded away became a huge hit and icon of porn. Smart, gray-haired paunchy guys watching themselves perform with 30 years' perspective seem bemused, wistful, and maybe a little bit embarrassed about the wacky way they made a few bucks (only one of Debbie's original actresses agreed to be interviewed). The film takes no moral stance, even though many of the interview subjects speak seriously about the victimization that has always gone hand-in-hand with the adult entertainment business. While not as clever, insightful, or stylish as Inside Deep Throat, Debbie Does Dallas is still an engaging glimpse at a tawdry time and place that produced a classic in the annals of the adult film history. As an interesting extra and counterpoint to the history lesson, the disc includes the bonus feature, Diary of a Porn Virgin, which documents the tale of two women who make dramatic career changes into the modern porn industry. --Ted Fry

    2 out of 5 stars slick dreck.......2007-01-08

If you absolutely MUST see this one, try to borrow or (at worst) rent it somewhere.

Because contrary to one of the official reviews, this film is VERY judgemental about porn and the porn industry. All that porno stuff is evil, wicked, mean and nasty, funnels millions to mafia mobsters, and probably gives you cavities, scabies, and ring-around-the-collar to boot, don'tcha know? It's just that this film isn't honest enough to come right out and say so out loud. Instead, in a marvel of selective presentation, this film bravely confirms what every Jerry Springer audience already "knows."

Hey, maybe every single thing they allege is gospel-true - but I can get that POV from Falwell, Robertson and their ilk constantly, endlessly, and anytime day or night. And for free.

What chaps my cheeks about this particular DVD is that it uses the mystique and curiousity surrounding a classic adult film not to try to resolve anything much about its so-called subject, but to give you instead (among other delights) a straight-laced ex-FBI'er condemning porn (at length) and gloating about harassing a suspect into a fatal heart attack. Now *that's* entertainment!

And did I mention that their whole pretext for this project - the search for Bambi Woods - just kind of dribbles away inconclusively, in the end, without any real resolution? Talk about a red herring!

In short, believe that other purchaser who said he returned his copy because it wasn't what was advertised. This whole production is a study in false advertising. I gave it an extra star for being technically well-done, but otherwise it's remarkably half-baked.

The school "Debbie Does Dallas" was shot at is Pratt Institute of Art and Design in Brooklyn. It is commonly known amongst its students (me being an alumni myself) that "Debbie" was shot in the library (very recognizable dut to the frosted glass floors), the back entrance of the library (which has been locked for years), the president's office (to the delight of many students) as well as the locker rooms of the indoor pool which closed its doors in the 80's.

I'v been to Dallas,Texas five times, its a beautiful city unlike my small crappy town Winnsboro.

2 out of 5 stars I could have helped with this one.......2006-03-21

First of all, I'm only reviewing the 47 minute documentary and not the accompanying movie about 2 women getting into the business. Many of the stars chose to not participate because they have moved on with their lives. Kudos to Eric Edwards for sharing. If there was one male star I would have traded places with for a few films, it would be him. Robin Byrd is someone who was too skanky to be in the original movie to begin with. Her contribution was an edited 15 minute session. Hopefully, they didn't pay her much for that. The absolutely silly "hook" to this documentary were the frequent references to Bambi Woods being a one hit wonder. The narrator implies thru interviews with a producer associated with the original film that Bambi made one movie and disappeared forever. The producer actually says that he wanted to do a sequel but he let up when Bambi wasn't interested. It's not hard to get a copy of other films like Debbie Does Dallas 2 and 3. Not once were these other two movies mentioned. Even an interview with R. Bolla (OH, Mr. Greenfield!) where he talks of having gone out with Bambi ONCE the night after they did some shooting. She may have not been in the business long but she was in at least 2 other movies looking a little older and heavier. Mr. Greenfield scored more than one touchdown! The film maker neglets to mention that "Debbie" character appeared in 2 subpar sequels. Also, one other misleading thing about this release is a popular magazine (GIANT)advertised it as being a re-release of the original movie.

    2 out of 5 stars So awful it's funny!.......2006-08-17

Someone got the bright idea of letting Doug Stanhope, one of the replacement hosts of "The Man Show" host this GGW adventure.

Girls HATE this guy! And he really doesn't seem very interested in changing that fact. He repeatedly offends the girls he is trying to talk to.

The result is the most skin-free GGW ever.

But it is funny to watch the host crash and burn with these really dumb southern girls (a staple of these productions) and then just keep on crashing.

If you can watch this for free or almost free, do it. It's worth a few laughs.

2 out of 5 stars Love GGW? Try this!.......2006-04-25

OK, I own 7 of the GGW, but just made a great discovery! If you want the real spring break in thailand, these guys know how to shoot HOT ASIAN BABES in bikinis on the beach! Check out the "Wild Girls Thailand" DVD!

1 out of 5 stars AVOID GGW LIKE THE PLAGUE!.......2006-04-22

I have not bought this particular video, but I did buy another set of GGW videos a few months ago, and I COMPLETELY regret it. This is the worst purchasing experience I've ever had. Many people have complained about the horrible customer service at GGW. In my case, I paid extra on my order for speedy delivery. The charge went against my credit card, so they got immediate payment from me. My videos were supposed to have been delivered within a couple days, but it wound up taking a couple MONTHS instead! And only after I complained did they finally deliver them. But they still didn't reimburse me for the extra expense I had paid for the speedy delivery that never happened. And if that isn't bad enough, for the last month these jerks have been calling me every day, several times a day. I get calls at home, I get calls at work. They called me three times just today. This is harrassment! I'm right now researching what my legal options are because their incessant phone calls are making me crazy. Can you imagine having to explain unsolicited calls you're receiving at work from GGW? Unless you want to go through the hell I'm being put through, do yourself a favor and please avoid these sorry jerks!

The quest for the Key of the Twilight continues as the appearance of undefeatable monsters and mythic heroes shakes the online Game World. As the relationship between Tsukasa and Subaru grows closer, he takes her to the hidden forest of the sleeping girl--and is severely punished. The voice that once promised to accompany Tsubasa abandons him, taking the sleeping Aura and the Puss-in-Boots-like Macha to a weird, aqueous realm. While the odious Sora and BT connive, Crim joins Bear and Mimiru in the search for clues about the mysterious Key. With the help of the seeress Helba, they discover that the aged failure of the upside-down dungeon is a manifestation of Harald Hoerwick, the creator of the prototype game world. Director Koichi Mashimo uses tantalizing but ambiguous clues to build the suspense as this intriguing series moves toward its climax. (Rated 13 and older: violence) --Charles Solomon

    3 out of 5 stars wasn't that impressed..........2004-12-17

yes ive seen all the episodes and played through two of the games, infection and mutation, and i found this anime series obnoxiously flat with a very slow moving plot. the soundtrack to the series is wonderful along with the artwork but i found the story to be non-gratifying in any way shape or form for me.

granted i watched the horribly translated sub version from japan it probably wouldnt be fair for me to really recommend .hack// or not, but to take caution and rent a few of the volumes before investing money on purchasing them, unless of course your a die hard .hack// fan :P

5 out of 5 stars If you like Neon Genesis get prepared for their newest work!.......2004-07-23

I've watched A LOT of anime way before it became mainstream, so I have had a sample of all the good stuff that made it here before the crappy kids shows. Neon Genesis is a supurd anime, you can't call yourself an anime lover before you watch that, however as much as I liked that anime, I LOVE .hack//SIGN. This sotry is slower moving, you see mostly character development and none of that bloody violence that is prevolent in most anime and other media. If you love getting involved with the characters you'll love this. Every person alive can relate to at least one of the characters in .hack, it's amazing to watch it and see how their lives play out. Even better, if you like this anime enough, there are four games to play that take place 6 months after this story. They pick up where it left off and solve the riddles that are left unsolved at the end of this series. Now I have to say that to be an true anime fan you have to have watched 2 series, Neon Genesis Evangelion and of course, .hack//SIGN! ^_^ \/

4 out of 5 stars Once more unto the breach, dear friends..........2004-07-21

The party gets assists from Helba and, in a brief cameo, Subaru's powerful friend Balmung - who we haven't met yet but has previously been mentioned as helping out offscreen - as the final conflict draws near.

Of all the people he's come to care for, Tsukasa's closest tie is to Subaru, and he now trusts her enough to share Aura, the sleeping girl with her. This does not go over well with The Voice, however, and once Subaru leaves she punishes him severely - a serious setback, as Tsukasa is left traumatized and shell shocked.

In other developments, the whole party is now on the same page, with Bear and Mimiru working in concert with Subaru and Crim for the first time. With the appearance of unkillable boss monsters hearalding the fact that they're running out of time, they try to bring their lost sheep back into the fold.

Previous comments from Crim have suggested that the Silver Knight isn't really a bad guy if given a nudge in the right direction, and indeed we find him taking the fallout of the Knights' dismantling - which was certainly never his intention - even harder than Subaru. B.T. - who's been seesawing through the whole series - wants back in, but doesn't see how that's possible considering her recent behavior and the messy way she's left things - until she finds to her surprise that Bear still maintains an almost childlike faith in her. For that matter, the "old man" hasn't entirely given up on Sora either.

There's always one problem case, however, and it looks like he might be wrong on that count. Until now, Sora hasn't really done anything more dire than play The World rather unscrupulously. However, it should be starting to register that a real child is in trouble and this is no longer just a game, and his antics are starting to wear thin. Finally even threatening Mimiru - who he had seemed to like if he liked anyone - he seems to be a lost cause. And like the young boy it's been implied he is in the real world, he starts playing with fire...

The chess pieces are on the board, and zero hour is approaching.

5 out of 5 stars Things are starting to tie together..........2004-04-05

I can't get enough of .hack. I continue to be surprised by this series. Our heroes are starting to get closer to solving the mystery of the Key of the Twilight. You must get this.

5 out of 5 stars Loving This Series..........2004-01-25

Okay, so I'm a huge fan of both the anime series and the game, so I may be a bit biased... I started with the game, and was worried that I wouldn't like the series, or that it wouldn't compare to or measure up to the game. However, the series parallels the game, and there are some nice tie-ins between the series and game now. The characters in the series are nicely developed, and the storyline is very involved without being over-developed or entangled. The story has taken some good twists, and I love it! I'm also a fan of the music that's in the series. It nicely accompanies the story, and is something that I can listen to anytime. I highly recommend this series for anyone who's ever played the game, or for someone who happens to love anime. Thumbs-up from me!!!

    Product Description

The Saudi Royals remain as mysterious as they are wealthy, and the family is riddled with scandals. Prince Bader al-Saud is currently in a US prison for manslaughter. Princess Hana Al Jader has been charged with importing slaves to her Boston mansion. And nine of the 9-11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. This documentary is a rare and insightful look into the life and business of Prince Alwaleed, the nephew of King Abdullah. Forbes lists Prince Alwaleed as the 4th richest man in the world... but where did all his money come from, and what does he do with it? Never before has any member of the Saudi Royal family allowed a film crew to document their activities, until now. Learn how Alwaleed became a part owner of Rupert Murdoch's Fox Network, Disney, Amazon.com, and more. Also discover why Rudolph Giuliani turned down Alwaleed's gift of $10 million for the reconstruction of New York after 9-11, causing Alwaleed to turn around and fund the Hamas with $100 million, with the tacit approval of President Bush.

4 out of 5 stars Uncovers what F-911 didn't tell you about the Saudi Royal family..........2005-12-03

A very interesting film, which I didn't even know existed before I found it on Amazon.

Don't get me wrong - this was not a hard-hitting film like Michael Moore's. This was produced by a former CNN correspondant, so it followed more conventional rules of journalism.

He apparently had two goals in this documentary: to give a fair & balanced view of the Saudi Prince, and to get "behind the scenes" to show his personal & business relationships.

And this journalist was in a unique position to do this: he was allowed to follow & live with the Prince for a month (something Michael Moore or others would never be able to do). You will overhear private conversations with Rupert Murdoch & others, you will see the rest of the Saudi royal family, & you will see some pretty disturbing footage of the Prince with his (mostly American) entourage.

And, most alarming, it uncovers the *extensive* connections that the Saudi royal family has with US government & businesses. This man owns more of the US economy than any other individual in the world (including Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Ted Turner, etc). Alwaleed has financial ties to US media, to the Bush Administration, and to alleged Hamas terrorists.

The documentary just uncovers some of the hidden story - and leaves the conclusions to the viewer. The director goes overboard to be neutral & nonjudgmental (which is why I give it 4-stars instead of 5), and rarely even narrates. People who strive to be politically informed would probably want to see this rare footage.
