Description
From Paul Abbott, the much-celebrated author of Reckless and Cracker, comes this contemporary, darkly-edged miniseries starring Robson Green (Reckless, Me & Mrs. Jones) as Detective Inspector Dave Creegan. Follow the exploits of the Organized and Serial Crime Unit (OSC), an FBI-styled rapid-response elite crime squad. Co-stars Nicola Walker (Four Weddings and a Funeral) as Creegan's partner. Then, maverick D.I. Creegan and his partner D.I. Taylor are on the case in three all-new, darkly tinged two-hour dramas. This time out, Creegan, Taylor and the Organized and Serial Crime Unit track a serial kidnapper-murderer whose fatal fascination with young women leaves Creegan with a new scar to bear; a profoundly disturbed relief worker whose nightmares of atrocities committed in Bosnia impel him to erase the memories of fellow aides—permanently; and an international ring of baby brokers. Creegan is back on the job, having recovered from a nervous breakdown. In the first case, he is determined to clear the name of a man he helped convict-a tough task given that the murders began again once the suspected killer got out of jail. Then, a new serial killer terrorizes the city by setting his victims on fire. Will Creegan crack the case before he gets burned?

Special DVD features include: bonus arficle "Detectives You Wouldn't Want for Roommates;" selected cast filmographies; selected cast list; link to the Mystery! Web site; scene selections; closed captions; and some described video for the visually impaired.

On two DVD9 discs and six DVD5 discs. Region coding: All regions. Audio: Dolby stereo. Screen format: 4 x 3 full frame.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Touching Evil is great.......2007-03-08

I found this series to be well written and compelling. Robson Green's character and his performance are stellar. I think this series is as good as Prime Suspect, though darker and creepier. Positively addictive. I am very upset that there are no more episodes to watch

5 out of 5 stars The best BBC Mystery since Prime Suspect.......2006-08-09

Robson Green is excellent in this riveting drama about a self-obsessed field agent compelled to complete each case to its completion. He is fatalistic and there is just enough physical action to balance the cerebral nature of this program.

5 out of 5 stars Beautifully written series.......2006-05-06

Two minor complaints:
#1 The picture quality of the first two seasons--while passable--could have been improved(for some reason the picture quality on the third season is superior)

#2 The introductions by Diana Rigg are very informative, but give away key plot points. Make sure you hit the mute button or fast forward through them if you haven't watched the series before.

The show itself is comprised of eight, two-hour episodes. Each one is superbly acted, written, and directed. If you've enjoyed Prime Suspect or Wire in the Blood and have not seen this show--you're missing out. Rent or buy the first episode, 'THE LOST BOYS', and you'll get just a glimpse of how brillant this show is...

5 out of 5 stars really brilliant.......2006-01-13

This is a fantastic program. Very smart, darkly humorous, and disturbing, Touching Evil is truly a fascinating character study. Great performances by all the cast, and the stories are consistently engaging. Fans of mysteries and thrillers would find little to disappoint them.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic.......2005-05-14

This series is about a very strange detective. He had been the big brain in the serial murder squad, when he was shot in the head by a criminal. He survived the injury, but is not the same guy. It's very dark and terribly fascinating. I love it.
