Yes! Mother.......2007-06-24
It's about time that Universal woke up and released Psycho 4 on dvd in region 1. I have been waiting since 1999 for this. It really should have been released by it's self or in a box set with all four films, but I'll take what I can get. Thank God I can finish the psycho collection!

Description
Female Prisoner 701 Scorpion Wrongfully imprisoned, Female Prisoner #701 Scorpion is absolutely hell-bent on exacting revenge upon those who betrayed her. Forced to endure the perils of prison life and the wickedness of an evil warden, she must survive long enough to make it outside the prison walls. This is a classic revenge story, riddled with violence, sex, action, and drama. Scorpion Beast Stable Following her successful prison break, Scorpion (Meiko Kaji) begins this third episode in the series hiding out in a brothel. Her prostitute friend tries to keep her identity secret, but the brothel's madam discovers that Scorpion is the ex-girlfriend of the vice officer who killed her lover. Torture follows, as the madam's lover was a member of the Yakuza, and his thuggish cohorts frame Scorpion and get her re-arrested. Scorpion Grudge Song The series that inspired "KILL BILL" the last Female Prisoner Scorpion picture starring Meiko Kaji (Lady Snowblood).

The Scorpion puts the Bride to Shame!.......2007-07-05
Female Prisoner Scorpion: #701
By the end of the 1960s, film ticket sells in Japan had dropped immensely because of the influx of the popularity of television. In order to make ends meet, several of the big studios turned to making "pink films" or "Roman Porno" flicks as they were commonly called. Most of these films were quite cheap and their production time was quite short. A good portion of these films pandered to some of the darker aspects of sexual desire including such themes as rape, S&M, and incest. Obviously, these films were often geared towards a male audience. During the latter half of the 1960s the female characters within these films were often "victims" of physical, emotional, and sexual violence in these films. However, it was often the case that such violence would lead the victim to fall in love with her rapist with an almost maternal affection. However, by the early 1970s, while these films were still full of gratuitous nudity and violence, the female characters began to grow stronger and instead of falling in love with their victimizers would strike back violently against them.
Female Prisoner # 701-Scorpion stars Kaji Meiko, probably most famous for her role as Lady Snowblood, as Matsushima Nami, a young woman sentenced to prison after attempting to kill her detective boyfriend after he used her in a bust that also resulted in her being raped by several members of the yakuza. Now, some three years later, Nami along with her friend Yuki try to escape a women's prison, but are soon caught. Imprisoned once again, Nami suffers torture at the hands of other prisoners, including having scalding miso soup poured on her bare skin. However, her spirit is never broken. Ever silent, Nami waits for the day in which she can seek her revenge.
On the surface Female Prisoner # 701-Scorpion is no different than several other films produced in this genre. It includes such scenes as the rape scene, a vaguely S&M scene, a lesbian sex scene, etc. However, it is evident that Ito, this was his debut film by the way, was trying to make more out of this films parts than the composite whole. The camera definitely shines at certain moments and there is even a scene that is reminiscent of a horror scene that could be found in a kabuki play, albeit one with a female cast and full nudity. Also, like many films from this period, this movie has an excellent soundtrack with Kaji singing vocals on the title and ending track "Urami Bushi" which was also used in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill films.
A decent film with several sequels, spin-offs, and imitators, I would recommend this film to anyone who is interested in Japanese film from this time period or Exploitation films in general.
Female Prisoner Scorpion: #701: Beast Stable
The third volume of the Female Prisoner Scorpion Series, Beast Stable, opens up with quite a bang, or maybe it would be better to say a large meaty slice, when our heroine Matsushima Nami, better known as Sasori, or Scorpion, slices open the face of one police officer and then hacks off the arm of another, an arm that she is handcuffed to, so that she can escape a train. The viewer is then treated to a running Scorpion with a severed arm dangling from the handcuffs that bind her to it. If this scene is not twisted enough, we then go to view a young prostitute copulating indifferently with a man on top of her. Now this scene is not really odd until we learn that the girl, Yuki, is having sex with her own mentally handicapped brother. So begins the third volume, some also consider the weakest volume, of the Female Prisoner Scorpion series.
Unlike the other volumes of the series in which the action, of course, centers on Sasori, Beast Stable seems to be more interested in the being of Yuki. Stuck with her familial obligation to take care of her retarded brother, Yuki makes her living as a prostitute. However, because she is an independent worker, she often comes under the attack of Yakuza who want a cut of her money. Because of her situation she begs Sasori to kill her brother, but has a change of heart and eventually this familial bond will lead her to betray Sasori.
Sasori's role is a bit underplayed in this film. She does get revenge on a handful of yakuza and some police officers, but most of her time is spent hiding within the sewers. However, the time in the sewers also offers the audience some scenes of filmic beauty when Yuki drops matches through manholes to attract Sasori. Sasori's, whose being is the embodiment of the betrayed, face is extraordinarily innocent in these scenes and almost glows with naïveté and trust. Because of these images her fate is that much bitterer.
While it might not be as action packed or stylish as the first two films in the series, Female Prisoner Scorpion: Beast Stable is still a decent film and it does raise such issues as body politics and abortion.
Female Prisoner Scorpion: #701: Grudge Song
Female Prisoner Scorpion: #701: Grudge Song not only marks Kaji Meiko's last performance as Matsushima Nami, aka Sasori--the Scorpion--but it also marks a change of directors with Hasabe Yasuharu taking the director's chair from Ito Shunya. Kaji was unhappy with this switch of directors and the resulting film, so this film marks the end, if one does not count non-Kaji related Female Prisoner Scorpion films, of one of the great heroines of 1970s Japanese cinema.
Like the previous film, Female Prisoner Scorpion: #701: Beast Stable, this film begins with police in hot pursuit of Sasori. Fleeing from a wedding, not her own, a bleeding Sasori encounters a man named Kudo Teruo, a man whose body, and manhood, is horribly scared by his encounters with the police during the latter years of the 1960s when he was a student activist. Daily Kudo checks on Sasori bringing her food and other such necessities and slowly against her instinct she slowly falls in love with him. Sasori, who is nearly completely silent in all of the Female Prisoner Scorpion films, goes under a transformation and one can tell that her features have softened. Being that Kaji rarely speaks in these films, her face speaks volumes and seeing the affection and naïveté on her face fills the viewer with compassion for her especially when one has the knowledge that she will soon again be betrayed.
Although Kaji Meiko herself was not satisfied with the outcome of Female Prisoner Scorpion: #701: Grudge Song, I think that it is a bit stronger that the previous film in the series. While the police never had a shining image in the series, the negativity towards it that many filmmakers held towards it really comes to the fore in this film. This is readily shown in how the police deal with Kudo in both flashback and within the time of the film. Kudo was forced not only to betray his fellows years ago, but also Sasori. Both Kudo's fellows and Sasori could represent a change of conservative society, but such efforts are destroyed by the police, i.e. the state. This might be reading too much into this film, but such tactics as fear and violence used, even against their own, by the police reek of a strong control mentality.

i got a great deal.......2007-02-16
i bought this pack for $3.00 at suncoast videos and i'll never regret it
each one of these movies has mindless fun i'll start with 2019 After th Fall of New York i think Children of Men ripped this off but these is a lot better action wise theres nasty looking mutants, flesh eating rats, weapons that sometimes sound like childrens toys, and a colony of underground dwarfs
next is 1990 The Bronx Warriors this has fred williamson as a king of a gang this movie is very entertaining theres really cool fight scenes and idiotic diolauge my favourite scene is when fred chops of a scavengers head
last is The New Barbarians fred williamson is also in this and he has exploding arrows this movie is very weird not as enjoyable as the others but its still good
i highly recommend this pack for some mindless fun
POST-APOCALYPTIC CHEESE FILLED FUN !! .......2006-12-17
Any fan of the 1980's post-apocalyptic film craze would be happy to own this triple feature. This set features:1990 Bronx Warriors:2019 After the fall of New York and The New Barbarians.Shriek show studios has done an amazing job with the video transfer of these movies. The picture quality from shriek show is better than any version i've ever seen. It's obvious that some effort was put into the quality of this set by shriek show.2019:After the fall of New York has 5.1 digital sound while 1990 Bronx Warriors and the New Barbarians have 2.0 sound.Special features on the dvd's include trailers, commentaries and interviews.Three movies for one low price and you get to feed your post-apocalyptic hunger at the same time.
Post Apocalyptic Triple Feature: A decent set........2006-10-06
Here is another set from Media-Blasters featuring 3 Itlaian cult classics. Media-Blasters is really making a name for themselves with the movies they put out. They cater to fans of cult cinema.
First up we have 2019: After the Fall of New York directed by Sergio Martino going under the name Martin Dolman. 2019 is a little bit of Mad Max, but a lot more Escape From New York.
Cult actor Michael Sopkiw is pretty much playing Kurt Russell's Snake Plissken. I have to admit I really like Michael Sopkiw, he may not be known to the mainstream public, but for those who do know him find him entertaining.
Sergio Martino at one point made some excellent Giallos I wonder why he started doing knock off films? 2019: After the Fall of New York is a fun movie no doubt. We have some poor F/X, which really add to the charm of the flick. Not a great movie, but damn fun. With Michael Spokix and George Eastman in the same movie that means fun.
1990: Bronx Warriors was directed by Enzo G. Castellari and it's quite obvious this was inspired by The Warriors. To be quite honest I found 1990: Bronx Warriors rather dull.
There just wasn't enough action and lets face it a movie like this needs that. 1990 has it's moments, but more than often it's just too slow. The highlight is Mark Gregory who plays Trash. What's the deal with the way he walks? Rather funny.
Fred Williamson appears as does cult actor George Eastman.
And finally we have The New Barbarians again directed by Enzo G. Castellari, which again stars Fred Williamson and George Eastman (is this guy great or what?).
The New Barbarians is fairly decent, but it just doesn't work in my opinion. Worth watching at least once, but besides that there is no rush to see it again.
I love 80 Italian cinema and for those reading this I assume you do as well. In that case you might like the set or you may not. I love these kind of flicks, but I just didn't really enjoy these movies except for 2019: After the Fall of New York.
Like all of Media-Blasters sets it's cheaper to buy the set than any of the movies on their own.
As I stated before I love 80s Italian cinema, but this set just didn't do it for me. But it wasn't a total waste due to 2019.
Just what you need.......2006-05-06
It's a low price for a set of low-budget movies. Fair enough !
I'm into this just for the nostalgia. I'm not going to claim
that these movies expand the boundaries of cinematographic art.
But they're quite enjoyable as a guilty pleasure.
For Lovers Of Italian Cheese............2006-01-07
This boxset is great value. It combines 3 films from Media Blasters/Shriek Show's 'Post-Apocalyptic' collection: 1990: The Bronx Warriors, 2019: After The Fall Of New York and The New Barbarians. You can pick up the 3 films for the same price of one individually.
After the success of films like The Road Warrior and Escape From New York you got a lot of rip off films from around the world, most notably Italy. Made on lower budgets with b-grade actors and sets, these films are not 'good' in the traditional but rather fun and cheesy takes on the original better films. So, if you are looking for top class Sci-Fi then these films aren't for you. But if you are in the mood for some cheesy fun rather than high art then these films are for you.
All three films have got excellent, widescreen anamorphic transfers. You also get interviews with members of the cast as well as audio commentaries on two of the films featured. All in all, the films will never look better and time was obviously spent to clean up the transfers and provide some interesting extras.
A must for anyone who has a passing interest in Italian 'cheese' cinema.

Customer Reviews:
Going Psycho over this Triple Feature.......2006-11-13
Shriek Show/Media Blasters has been graciously discounting their films lately by releasing 3 similar themed films in 1 box set. Out of all their box sets Psycho Killers is one of best.
The first film is Delirium. Delirium is a giallo (an Italian murder mystery). Italy had their giallo hey-day back in the last 60's and early 70's so Delirium comes very late to the genre by being released in 1988. Though hardly a good film, it does entertain. The films plot has a fashion magazine editor who's photo girls keep turning up dead. The killer disposes of them in unique manners including one by by bee stings. What makes this film interesting is that the killer has weird delusions before each killing and he sees his victems deformed in some way (one even has an eye-ball for a head!). The film is wonderfully cheezy and sleazy with some gore. Compared to other films in the giallo genre, this is VERY weak but it is entertaining in a more trashy sense. What's amazing is that this film was directed by Lamberto Bava, son of the late Mario Bava, who was the creator of the giallo genre to begin with!
The second film is House on the Edge of the Park (or as humerously titled in the trailer House on the Park on the Edge). This sadistic film was directed by ___ (Cannibal Holocaust) and stars David Hess (Last House on the Left) so you know your in for a disturbing, violent movie. The film has two working class auto-body repair guys who force themselves into a party of some young wealthy upper class citizens. It becomes a night of torture and mayhem as David Hess goes crazy. D___ actually keeps the filmmaking at an almost pedestrian level heightening the realistic nature fo the film. Though the film is shot in a pedestrian manner it still has a very high quality look to it that the film Last House on the Left lacked. The performances are good (perhapes too good) and there is a nice twist at the end. Though it can be a hard film to watch (like Cannibal Holocaust), it still comes out being a very good film and by far the best in this box set.
The third film is Beyond the Darkness directed by Joe D'Amato (Anthropophagus). I am a Italian film nut and in my opinion Joe D'Amato is a hackeyed director. He specializes more in porn/adult film industry and his actual real feature films are always poorly made. I have nothing against the man I just think he's a poor director...but then again he never claimed to be a great one. Like I expected the film is quit poorly directed and edited. The plot is simple as it has a young man who's girlfriend dies and he then exumes the body and makes here into a stuffed doll. The gore effects are graphic and realistic but sadily the rest fo the film is nothing to get overly excited over. It can actually be a chore to watch during some moments. Goblin, however, provides the score so all cannot be that bad.
Overall this box set is well worth the money. YOu get a good, disturbing, realistic movie in House by the Cemetery; a cheezy, sleazy giallo with Dilirium, and a gory albeit poorly made film with Beyond the Darknes. They all add up to interesting film experiences.
Psycho Killers Triple Feature delivers the goods.......2006-10-07
As I have stated in my other reviews right now Media-Blasters is the best place for cult horror movies and this set shows they the best out there now.
First up we have House on the Edge of the Park directed by Ruggero Deodato and starring David Hess of Last House on the Left.
House on the Edge of the Park is deeply twisted, but some scenes don't have the impact they should. Maybe that is due to the twist I suppose, which I won't spoil.
Though the scene with David Hess as Alex and Brigitte Petronio as Cindy is quite sadistic. Overall not a perfect movie and in my opinion not as good as Last House on the Left, but still a well-made twisted film.
Cult Italian actor Giovanni Lombardo Radice also stars.
Beyond the Darkness was directed by Joe D'Amato and this might be his finest film. Beyond the Darkness isn't as gory as people make it out to be, but when there is gore there are a lot. I mean a lot. It's not constant though, but very gory.
There were rumors once of real corpes being used that is how real the disembowelment scenes looked.
Beyond the Darkness is actually kind of slow paced and maybe even a bit boring, but the movie is just so sick and twisted it will hold your interest.
The score by Goblin is excellent, but isn't that always the case?
Finally we have Delirium: Photo of Gioia directed by Lamberto Bava and in my opinion this flick is pretty much a waste, while it has now built up a cult following I just found it boring and just bad.
Only reason to watch is for Serena Grandi who is quite the hottie. Cult Italian actor George Eastman stars as well.
Overall you get 2 really good flicks with one poor one. If you wanted to buy House on the Edge of the Park and or Beyond the Darkness the set is the way to go. Buying any of those movies on their own would cost you more than buying the set.
Now that is a great deal. Delirium: Photo of Gioia is cheaper than the set so if that is the only movie you wanted no need for the set.
Great set with some solid extras.
3 cool exploitation films for a great price.......2006-02-26
For one price you get 3 notorious films. House on the edge of the park, beyond the darkness, and delirium. All 3 films are italian which gurantees abundant blood, and sex.

Description
Fiancée Of Dracula While looking for the earthly remains of Count Dracula, a professor and his young assistant are plunged into a parallel universe of darkness and decay. There, they encounter supernatural creatures. Ultimately, the professor's quest leads to a confrontation with the beautiful Isabelle. Possessed by an unspeakable evil force, she has the power to decide his fate. Two Orphan Vampires The legendary Euro-horror director, Jean Rollin, returns to cinema with this spectacular vampire epic. With his signature sexy cinematography, gothic locales and artistic edge, the story of two innocent orphan vampires unfolds. They appear to be helpless blind orphans during the daylight hours, but at night they roam Europe in a spree of blood and death. Central Park Drifter Night brings out the hunger in everyone, especially a mysterious New York cab driver, who happens to be a vampire. Working the night shift brings a sultry array of passengers within his clutches. Embracing those ready to die, he controls a vampire underworld. Unexpectedly, on his nightly rounds he discovers erotic human passion, and unleashes a terrifying evil.

Description
Black Demons Finally, the seldom seen 1991 zombie film from Umberto Lenzi arrives stateside, uncut, digitally re-mastered, and in English for the very first time. The Black magic rites and powers of Voodoo and the Macumba are used to reanimate the corpses of zombified, revenge-seeking, black slaves. Acting out of retribution, the zombies tear, rip, and bite anyone in their path of vengeance. The Ogre Cheryl, an American author, goes on holiday with her husband and young son to an ancient, cursed Italian villa. Cheryl slowly and shockingly begins to realize that an evil, demon-like creature that haunted her childhood nightmares is real and alive; inhabiting the dark, cavernous cellar of the old mansion they are living in! The Other Hell When a brutal series of murders plague a convent, a priest is brought in to investigate the tragedies. As the remaining nuns become increasingly disturbed, he must wonder if this is the work of a psychopath, or that of the devil. Bruno Mattei, of Hell of the Living Dead and Claudio Fragasso of Zombi 3 unite again to ensure this tale of "nunsploitation" and possession rises above the rest.
