This cheesy sci-fi adventure began as a radio play, and it still feels like one, as there's lots of voice-over juxtaposed with still, often monochromatic artwork. A member of the Bounty Dog Investigation Team, Yoshioki has been sent to discover the source of mysterious activities on the moon. He's drawn into a baroque story that requires him to destroy the alien Sleeper, whom various characters describe with straight faces as "the Dark Side of the Moon." This evil entity is linked to Yoshioki's tragic past and to the revelation that the moon is an artificial observation satellite. The endless chases, explosions, and gunfights can't disguise the painfully underdeveloped plot. In the epilogue, Yoshioki returns to Earth, wondering who built the moon, the nature of the enemy he defeated, etc.--questions the viewer and, apparently, the writers share. Customer Reviews:
The best it's going to get for Mad Max fans.......2007-06-13
I'm rating this 5-stars not because it's the best look HD-DVD ever, but because I believe this is certainly the best presentation of Road Warrior that's ever been released, or will ever likely be released. It's a keeper.
I remember seeing this movie in the theater. I don't think even the film as shown in the theater contained this much detail, as I noticed details in the movie that I had not seen before. It's a excellent picture.
The sound is good, but nothing like blockbuster movies from recent years, because Road Warrior was made several years ago, and not exactly on a huge budget. Still, it's the best sound quality you're likely to hear for this movie.
Some purists may enjoy the fact that the movie is shown with the title "Mad Max 2" rather than "The Road Warrior" at the beginning, but I don't like it. When I saw the movie in the theater it said "The Road Warrior", and had a bright shining metal effect. I wanted to see THAT, not something that was originally shown in Austrailia. However, I'm not going to get all misty over it and lower the star rating.
If you have Road Warrior on DVD or LaserDisc this is one title that you should absolutely buy the replacement HD-DVD. It makes a big difference.
Finally!.......2007-05-19
I'm saying "finally" because we've finally received a version of the Road Warrior that looks outstanding! The picture looks the best I've ever seen and while the sound isn't as great in terms of bass reproduction, it still sounds very clear, just a tiny bit lackluster. Several of the scenes have a bit of softness to them probably due to age but I'd say about 95% of the film looks crystal clear. There aren't many extras other than an introduction by film critic Leonard Maltin and a filmmaker commentary. A bit lacking in the extras department but the commentary is informative enough for film enthusiasts and fans of the film. It'd be nice to get a retrospective documentary one day on this classic.
At the end of the day, the movie is delivered in an above average presentation and definitely worth a peek in HD.

Men and women are often at odds when choosing a video to watch together. Men want action; women crave romance. Here at last is the perfect DVD to bridge the Mars-Venus divide. Outlaw turned pumped-up bounty hunter Duane "The Dog" Chapman at last ties the knot with his common-law wife, Beth, but not before engaging in a little premarital hunting. When they're not apprehending bail jumpers (and the Chapmans' lost dog) across Hawaii, Duane and Beth prepare for their nuptials. She wants him to schedule "date nights" and work on his "love language." At the very least, she would like his sons to stop referring to their impending nuptials as "the funeral." Meanwhile, he risks her wrath by pursuing an elusive miscreant just hours before his rehearsal dinner. It's another typical day with the Dog, he proclaims. There's always "excitement, triumph, and Beth." But there is also a family tragedy that dampens the proceedings. This two-part episode from A&E's outrageous reality series--the network's highest rated broadcast at that time--has it all: Chases and dress fittings, profanity-laced take-downs, and heart-to-hearts about feelings. The Dog even cries! But guys can always fast-forward through that stuff. --Donald Liebenson

Truly........2007-02-15
While I've never met them, over the last few years I've come to absolutely love and respect Dog, Beth, Leland, Tim, Duane Lee and the Chapman family -- and you will too. They're really making a difference in people's lives -- what an amazing gift they all are. Truly. After watching this special, you'll have a new respect for the Chapmans. The love this family stands for is, in a word, beautiful.
A Beautiful yet sad Wedding.......2007-01-29
I laughed and cried while watching this DVD! The events leading up to the moment Dog & Beth get married, the things they have to go through to get to the alter. Having family by this is very important and when one of Dog's Daughters is sadly killed it shows how strong that family is. It shows how the pull together to continue on with the Wedding. Though it had its sad moments it reminds me of family unity. If you like Dog, the bounty hunter then this is a must have to you collection.

Duane "Dog" Chapman and his posse are on the prowl again, scouring the underbelly of Honolulu for its most-wanted miscreants in Dog the Bounty Hunter: The Best of Season Three. The season kicks off with Dog introducing his daughter, Lyssa, to the family business, making her the third child in Dog's pack to suit up for a stakeout. Shortly after she is enlisted in a full-blown hunt for a culprit with a laundry list of assault charges, she decides that bounty hunting might not be the career of choice for her. Sons Duane Lee and Leland, along with brother Tim and wife Beth, also join Dog in the show's adventures, juxtaposing the hard-nosed bounty-hunting business with the clan's enduring family spirit. Bringing this contrast to a crescendo is Dog's quest to save the holidays by hunting a Christmas grinch and courting an elusive Cupid, who is wooed into turning herself in with a special valentine from Leland. No one is beyond Dog's grasp (and sympathy), it seems, as he tracks down his ex-housekeeper who fears that he may be ashamed of her thieving ways. The two share tears and hugs before Dog carts her off to prison. It's easy to cheer for Dog, half tough-as-nails, half family man, in this collection of eight suspenseful and amusing episodes. --Libby Chennell

Superman Owns a Pair of Dog the Bounty Hunter Pajamas .......2007-04-23
Duane "The Dog" Chapman continues to fight crime and protect the innocence in his third season of his hit show that puts the "real" in reality tv. The true-life inspiration for Captain America, Dog the Bounty Hunter is undoubtedly afraid of no one. The man's very existence makes Hawaii's most dangerous criminals shrivel in fear while messing their pants. Whether be it confronting a family of fugitive harboring 300 lb Samoans or saving the life of an ice addicted deadbeat bond jumper, all of the emotional drama is captured on his popular show's third season.
Dog shows no mercy to ice dealing fugitives:
[talking into a cell phone with a suspect] Hey! Hi. So where you at? You know what motherf*cker? I'm gonna file bond jumping on you, you 9mm packing ice head. If you wanna stay out of jail buddy, you better f*cking show up right now with your old lady. Yeah, listen, we gotcha... you know what motherf*cker? You better come right now motherf*cker tweak. You better get her right now.
[shouting]
Armed with only mace and his heart of a lion, Duane and his crew chase down Hawaii & Colorado's most elusive fugitives no matter how big, dangerous, or frightening they may be. No one in the US or even Mexico can escape the Dog. The series of entertaining shows contained in the DVD not only capture Chapman exhibiting noble courage, the forces of good battling evil, but the heroism of this brave man in his colossal fight to keep criminals off our streets. If you don't like Duane "Dog The Bounty Hunter" Chapman than you're not American. That's not an opinion, it's the fact.

Reality TV series Dog the Bounty Hunter is far more entertaining than it has any right to be. Consider: The central figure is a middle-aged, former biker and Texas felon with a ridiculous '80s rock star haircut and an Oahu-based business ("Da Kine Bail Bonds") collaring drug-addled fugitives. Yet Dwayne "Dog" Chapman's criminal-snagging exploits all over Honolulu, aided by his scary-looking brother, son, Nephew, and invaluable, fiercely independent wife, Beth, are captivating in a surreal, larger-than-life fashion. The Best of Season One includes several highly watchable episodes, watching Chapman's team do its dangerous work, a startling blend of machismo and almost prayerful compassion for the losers being dragged back to justice. But this is also a show about family; about the Chapmans' beautiful house and kids, about making time for a birthday party after hauling in a dangerous creep. Weird, silly, suspenseful, and fun. --Tom Keogh

this dog hunts,so don't get caught in his sights.......2006-05-23
hands down the BEST SHOW ON T.V., dog and his "family" are the most entertaining people on the tube. this mix of cop show and everyday life of dog and family gives you more than a little excitement,it shows you a family taht fights, yells, and other wise gets on each others nerves, but they come together in times of need and they always look out for each other no matter what. they even take pity on the people they bring in to jail. i really can't say why, but i never miss this show and was happy to find it on dvd.
DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER.......2006-05-08
I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!! I WATCH IT EVERYTIME IT IS ON , EVEN IF IT IS A REPEAT! LOL I LOVE LELAND AND JUSTIN! CAN U SAY HOT!
A Great DVD, Bra!.......2006-05-07
Simply put: if you're a fan of the show, you are going to like this DVD. And if you haven't seen it yet, this is a good way to check it out! The only downside is: it doesn't have the entire season, only 7 episodes. BUT it does include an A&E special from a few years ago, which is cool to see because Beth and Dog looked kind of different - it was one of my favorite things on the DVD. A good buy!

Duane "Dog" Chapman's exploits as a bail-jumper's nightmare in Hawaii continue in the tense, colorful episodes on Dog the Bounty Hunter: The Best of Season 2. With brother Tim, son Leland, and wife Beth at his side, Dog takes down, among others, an abuser who goes running when he suspects a ruse to give him a free vacuum cleaner is just a way to get him out of the house; a heroin addict who skips bail into a rat hole of drugs and squalor; and a stalker threatening his ex-girlfriend with a hunting rifle. One episode, "Dog II: Son of Dog," features an all-out (though unseen) brawl inside a house where a fugitive's brothers descend on Dog and his posse while Beth gets into a shouting match with the bad guy's spitting-mad mother. As with The Best of Season 1, Season 2 is also very much about family. While that includes Tim, Leland, and Dog's immediate happy home with Beth and their brood of blonde little ones, it also involves his reunion with daughter Lyssa after six years (Lyssa is immediately pressed into bounty hunter service and proves to have a good instinct for the job), and the return of oldest son Duane Jr., a very likable fellow, into the family business. --Tom Keogh

You seen one episode you seen them all. Dog and crew chase small time criminals and get their friends and family to rat them out. Dog calls the criminal scum and claims that he is fighting the war on ice, but keeps bailing drug dealers out of jail even after they jumped bond on him. Anything for a buck I guess.
Entertaining.......2006-07-22

Action packed.......2006-07-20
I love the Dog the bounty hunter show and this DVD was just as fun exciting and packed with action, drama and hot men as ever before. Even though the hot men are the leaste reason why I love the movie. Dog is so caring and understanding and he shows that to the world through his shows. He shows that not every one is "bad" or "evil" but that they have different problems and with the right kind of support and love you can make it! I think thats why I like the DVD so much. It's nice to know that there are people out there who still have hearts. Duane shows that in his shows on this DVD.
A riveting show which has just enough outside the norm of crime/police shows to keep audiences on their toes .......2006-05-23
Whether you're an avid fan of DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER or a complete newcomer, DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER: BEST OF SEASON 2 is a top recommendation, gathering the best of the reality show's second season episodes - seven favorites selected by the Dog himself - from the series. For newcomers: there are other reality TV shows on bail-jumpers; but DOG comes with many differences. First, the posse is large-sized, heavily tattooed, and located in Hawaii, the island associated with peace and not crime. Second, the posse is deeply religious: a belief which extends to their actions as they capture bail-jumpers then embark on the brief roots of a conversion to a better life. Third, it's a family affair. Add a dose of humor to this unlikely mix of a family of bounty hunters and you have a riveting show which has just enough outside the norm of crime/police shows to keep audiences on their toes - and cognizant of the importance of adding social consciousness to the justice system, which is Dog's forte.

Description
We also teach our dogs to perform commands like getting a beverage from the refrigerator, turning light switches on and off, getting the newspaper, opening doors and gates on command, and the list goes on and on. But obedience still wouldn't be complete without the discipline, attention, control, dependability and communication we instill along with these commands. Dogs are working animals and enjoy work as long as it is enforced in a positive way. It is not enough for a dog to just know a few commands. You want to make obedience a way of life for your dog. Work should take up most of a dog's day. We have to keep their minds busy. This should include daily rules and guidelines. It's not so much about what your dog knows but how you use it. Keep in mind that training the owner is the most important part of our programs. What happens at home on a daily basis greatly out-weighs everything, so it is very important to turn the owner into an expert in their own dog and situation.

Customer Reviews:
OK for what it is, but surprising in other ways..........2007-04-19
This is really nothing but a glorified version of COPS. I happen to be a Cops fan, so I don't mind watching this series now and then, but Dog gets old real fast. His face looks like he shaves with a cheese grater (too many cigs and the like), his wife dresses like a ho (at Dog's insistence), and the rest of them, well, they're the usual combo of "kick a**" types who love screaming "get on the ground! Get on the ground!". Dog can be quite naive and sanctimonious (putting everything in terms of "good guys" and "bad guys", even though he was once a "bad guy" himself), and sometimes his praying/born again schtick feels like it's done for the cameras and nothing else. The main thing here that perhaps Dog doesn't realise he's doing is exposing Hawaii. Dog lives in Hawaii, and all of his "clients" are there for him to round up. Hawaii has this reputation of being a paradise, but that's just the resorts themselves. Surrounding them you have immense poverty and crime in Hawaii. It's almost along the lines of other island "paradises" like Jamacia and Fiji, where the resorts are dreamy, but there's a ghetto surrounding it. Thanks to Dog for pointing this out, although inadvernently. You're probably better off seeing reruns of Dog on A & E than buying these discs...
worth the savings.......2007-03-13
I loved the two DVDs and I am glad I got season one and two in a package deal. Well worth the savings to buy both.
All you need is love........2007-02-15
I remember the first time the show came on. I was watching A&E -- what I had always thought of as a kind of sedate channel -- and all of a sudden this Ozzy Osbourne riff comes on and next thing I know, there's Dog -- he's so charismatic and his family was so fantastic -- I found myself intrigued and sat and watched for the entire show -- and have been a fan of the show ever since.
It's hard to define what it is exactly that I love about it, there are so many aspects, actually. I don't want to give away details about the episodes because you really have to watch them for yourself, but the main characters, Dog, Beth, Tim, Leland, Duane Lee -- what a great family.
Most importantly, they're not just 'bounty hunting' -- they're finding these criminals and they're making a difference in these people's lives, people who otherwise would be so lost, people who sort of fall through the cracks of a system that makes it really difficult for them to straighten up. Dog and his family really take the time with each capture and show them something they probably don't get much of: Love.
It really is an amazing thing to watch.
I also think this is a great series to share with teens, one that teachers might want to share with at risk students, most definitely.
very good.......2007-01-20
i really like this show. i watch it everytime it is on television. i purchased the dvd and was surprised to see that they have fights that they do not show on television. my favorite part about the show is when they pray. also, i like how dog uses biblical principles to lead his family personally and professionally. they keep God first and that's how it should be.
fun dvd's.......2007-01-17
a rip roaring good time. nothing like seeing dog slam someone against a car.
