Description

During WWII, a human heart taken from a certain lab in Europe (Dr. Frankenstein's) is kept in a Japanese lab. When it gets exposed to the radiation of the bombing of Hiroshima, the heart grows in size, mutates and sprouts appendages, and eventually grows into a complete body and escapes. Later, a feral boy with a certain physical deformity (a large head with a flat top) is captured by scientists who refer to the boy as Frankenstein. The creature grows to the height of 20 feet, escapes again, fights police and army, and is practically indestructible. Later, a reptilian monster goes on a rampage. Eventually the Frankenstein creature and the reptile face off in a terrible battle.

4 out of 5 stars NICE TO SEE THIS ON DVD! KEEP THEM COMING!.......2007-06-28

I must admit that I liked these ToHo films as a kid,but they are mostly for laughs now.I guess a little for nostalgia too. These Japanese Monster movies are just hysterical! I had not seen this one for many years and I was doubled over with laughter watching it! It is great that they released this film and I would have given it 5 stars, but I remember some different scenes as a kid that ended up in the deleted scenes section of this release. Still all and all a great buy with 3 versions of the film and lots of extra goodies. I would love to see "War Of The Gargantuas", "The Green Slime" and " Yog Monster from Space" released!

4 out of 5 stars Media Blasters does it again.......2007-06-28

Another terrific release from this company. I'm so glad that original Japanese features are finally getting what they deserve. Subtitles too.
Great menus and extras as well.

1 out of 5 stars You're kidding me right...?.......2007-06-22

Yeah I saw this movie when I was about five or seven years old. I'm sure I liked it at the time, but I do not now. "Frankenstein" looks like a John Ratzenber look alike in bad make-up, The monster design for Baragon was better (why did it have to be wasted in this movie). I have never seen the alternate ending with the giant octopus, but it sounds stupid (even for a Toho Monster Movie). In the end, Tokyo Shock may as well be called Tokyo S&^&%.

5 out of 5 stars frankenstein movie.......2007-06-16

i just want to mention that this movie is one of the best that toho productions has ever made as far as science fiction and i would reccomend it to anyone

5 out of 5 stars Going to be Tokyo Shock's best release........2007-06-06

I've been waiting for this movie to come out for quite some time. This movie and War of the Gargantuas. You gotta love the beautiful Ms. Kumi Mizuno. Beside her, the movie is good, one of Toho's best. Add that with the features this DVD is packing. Both Japanese and American releases along with deleted scenes and commentary. A must have for all Toho and movie monster fans. This year has been a blessing for Toho fans with the rereleases of their movies on DVD in widescreen modes and with special features. Grab your friends and a six pack of beer and watch all these rereleased DVDs.

Description

(Sci-Fi) Invasion of Astro-Monster/Godzilla vs. Monster Zero -- Aliens from Planet X borrow our monsters for a little extermination project, but they've got something else up their sleeves: world domination! Using mind-control technology, these vinyl-and-sunglasses wearing spacemen turn Godzilla, Rodan and King Ghidorah loose in Japan, demanding Earth's surrender! It's up to American astronaut F. Glenn, his galaxy-trotting buddy Fuji, and nerdy inventor Tetsuo to break the aliens' hold on the monsters and save our planet from certain doom.

4 out of 5 stars Classic Godzilla well handled.......2007-07-05

This is a sillier Godzilla then in the previous movies of this series. However, it is still entertaining. Classic Media does a wonderful job with the commentary on the American version and by having the Japanese version as well.

4 out of 5 stars ONE MOUTH, TWO VOICES & THREE HEADS.......2007-06-09

Classic Media has to be applauded for the effort not only given to presenting the best versions of INVASION OF ASTRO-MONSTER possible (and they truly are some of best I've seen in a long, long while), but also the work that went into the case design. The box is striking, the artwork clever, clear, nostaligc and retro-future at all the same time. It's an attractive and eye catching design that demands (and gets) a second look. My copy has been picked up, picked over, and pick-pocketed a few times off my shelf already and throughly enjoyed.

But, having said that, I must admit that INVASION OF ASTRO-MONSTER is one of my least favorite GODZILLA films, yet one of my all time favorite TOHO movies. Truth be told, Godzilla here is at best a supporting player in a much larger and more complex story that could have done away with Godzilla and company and still have been just as compelling. Much like THE FIFTH ELEMENT fashion and design triumph over story and plot. This is one good looking movie. From the sets (wide open, with some of the most creative future computer and advanced table top technology), to the costumes (the aliens not only sport the expected antenna atop the head, but tight pants, trim sunglasses, and high useless collars), to the spaceships (which look exactly like spaceships should look), it's all here, and it's all a lot of fun.

It is something of a minor disappointment that Godzilla has been pushed to the margins here and used simply for effect than being the engine that drives the story. Godzilla, Rodan and King Ghidorah do loom large on the stunning minature sets on both PLANET X and Earth, and their battles are worth the long delay between the first and the last, but it does leave you wanting more. But, this does not stop INVASION OF ASTRO-MONSTER being a true gem.

The prints are the best possible and the extras are well done... although the commentary by Stuart Galbraith IV, while informative, fact filled and trivia stuffed is delivered in such a slow and measured way, that it sounds and feels like he's in fear of tripping over his own words if he talks too fast. Be prepared to feel like a five year old at some points when he wants to to Understand. Clearly. What. He. Is. Saying. To. You. So. You. Had. Better. Listen. While strange, it is a trip, and you will learn a thing or two.

Classic Media has done a great service to not only the fans of Godzilla, but to all those fans still to come. These DVD releases, like King Ghidorah, manages to wear three crowns and wear them well... they are entertaining, history and art all rolled into one.

3 out of 5 stars Aliens from planet X, Ghidorah, Godzilla does the jig, what more could anyone need?.......2007-06-07

I am very pleased that Classic Media have released this long desired Godzilla movie on region 1 dvd. Having seen only the Simitar Dvd release, which actually was a fairly clean print, but left a lot to be desired, not the least of which was the original Japanese language track.

Well finally it is now here for all to enjoy.

There is a lot to like here. The packaging, extra features, sound quality and of course the movie itself are all pluses for this release.

Also, the picture quality is outstanding. leaps and bounds above the older Simitar release. A very clean print, with very very few scratches or blurs. Sharp image with an appropriate amount of contrast. Color is excellent. At times it can be a bit too bright or dark, but not so much so that it detracts from the overall presentation. Considering the original elements are nearly 40 years old, it will satisfy and perhaps exceed most viewers of this genre type movie's expectations.

I wholeheartedly recommend this release and am quite sure most fans of cheesy old sci-fi will truly get a kick out of the alien storyline and low budget space effects.

As for the movie itself, Nick Adams is especially good as Glenn, and the story and production while quite "hokey" and "cheesy" is still very enjoyable. The commentary and documentary of Tomoyuki Tanaka are both worthy bonuses. The Tanaka doc is particularly interesting, especially if you are a fairly long time fan of Godzilla films. His journey from ww2 propaganda films until reaching a creative peak with Toho studios is enlightening and quite inspiring.

So, lose yourself in the cold war era threat of the aliens from Planet X, the reapperance of Ghidorah, the hamminess of Nick Adams and company, and of course that unforgettable iconic Godzilla as he dances to his heart's content. The origin of that dance by the way, is mentioned during the on film commentary.

Enjoy "Invasion of Astro Monster", now available in the U.S. for the first time in it's originally intended Japanese language incarnation.

5 out of 5 stars By Any Other Name..........2007-04-08

INVASION OF ASTRO MONSTER, is by any other name MONSTER ZERO, or GODZILLA VS MONSTER ZERO. INVASION OF ASTRO MONSTER is the "International title" that Toho gave to KAIJU DAISENSO, released in 1965. It was then acquired for release via AIP and Henry G. Saperstein(the producer)in 1966, and he parted ways with AIP and set out for his own distribution. That didn't happen until 1970 from Maron Films, a small indie release company and it was re-titled MONSTER ZERO and double-billed in roadshow fashion with WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS and did brisk business from late summer to Fall at drive-ins and theaters at the time. The film stars Nick Adams and was released in the US, two years after his untimely and unfortunate death. Still, MONSTER ZERO/INVASION OF ASTRO MONSTER remains one of the best ever of the Toho Godzilla sequels, the last one where all the major talents at Toho were in play to make a knockout film that flies along at a good clip. It has everything-alien invasion, monsters, and a love story. Interestingly, the monster side of things actually takes a back seat to a fairly engaging human story(there are only really 10 or 12 minutes of new monster footage). The FX work is perhaps Eiji Tsuburaya's best as is the score by Akira Ifukube. This version is exactly the same as MONSTER ZERO-same title sequence, however a new title card for INVASION is seen. All the dubbing was the same, and in fact the film has three minutes of footage not seen in the US version. One is the alien Controller saying something in his native language as the earth ship leaves, another is a pretty nifty FX shot looking up at Godzilla and Rodan being transported through the atmosphere by the Xian saucers, and still another shot has what appears to be an un-processed(sound) shot of Akira Takarada saying something like "I've got a bad feeling about this" in Japanese, to Nick Adams who responds in English "Talk to me about it pal". Terrific film in any language!!

4 out of 5 stars Mothra Vs Godzilla.......2007-06-10

I like the fact that Toho is releasing all there older Monster movies in a new dvd case.I look forward to seeing more of the movies being released so I can add them to my collection. One thing I would have liked to have seen with the movies being redone is to have the audio done in 5.1 dolby sound, than the standard audio format that they were originally done in.

3 out of 5 stars the terror of the titles.......2007-05-28

This fine film is destroyed by the titles. Some are on the film itself and some are on the black band below the image. The former are hard to read. But worst of all, some are split between both of the above and will give you a horrible headache. Why doesn't anyone seem to care about the placement of titles? A fun film that deserves better.

5 out of 5 stars This is how you do it!.......2007-05-23

This is one of the best re-issue DVD series I've seen in a long time. Classic Media knows what we want and gives it to us.

* A great-looking transfer of a classic film.
* Informative commentary
* Not too expensive

The best thing about this series of re-issues, is, of course, the inclusion of the dubbed American versions alongside the original Japanese versions. This allows the hardcore Godzilla fans to see the movies as they were originally made, while giving stoned couch potatoes the campy dubbed verisons they remember from Saturday afternoon Creature Features ("Hey look! His lips are moving but he's not making any sound! Haw haw haw haw!").

A lot of DVD companies would either confuse the consumer with two separate releases, or release "Deluxe 2-DVD" versions of every movie (as with the original Godzilla movie), but Classic Media gets it right by putting both versions on the same disc and releasing it at an affordable price (with great graphics to boot).

It doesn't hurt, either, that this is one of the best of the original Godzilla sequels, presented in all its fabulous widescreen Tohoscope glory. Even if you're just a casual Godzilla fan, this one belongs in your collection. As for me, I can't wait for the release of the Ghidorah movies and War of the Gargantuas later this year! Godzilla-lovers rejoice!

5 out of 5 stars Classic Godzilla........2007-05-20

Classic Godzilla, one of the best Godzilla films ever. Much, much better than the 1998 Tri Star film, by miles...

5 out of 5 stars Godzilla's Finest Hour.......2007-05-18

At long last American fans of Godzilla can affordably enjoy what many rate as their favorite Godzilla feature. This Sony/Toho Master Series release brings us both the classic AIP dubbed American release print titled Godzilla VS The Thing, and the original Japanese version Mosura Tai Gojira with english subtitles, for those who prefer authenticity. There are great extras including interviews and audio commentary by American Godzilla experts. It's priced irresistably at less than $20! I didn't wait on this one, and will always cherish it.

When a malevolent race of Moonwomen try to put the big hurt on Earth, it's up to (take a deep breath) Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, Anguilas, Minya, Manda, Baragon, and Spigas to resist their evil mind control and make the world safe for monster (and human) kind! Long unavailable on video, Destroy All Monsters is the crowning achievement of the Japanese monster genre, with wall-to-wall action, cheesily magnificent special effects, and a final nine-to-one battle royale (against the awesome three-headed dragon known to fans as King Ghidorah) that's guaranteed to get even the most passive viewer noisily bopping around the room. A badly dubbed, logic-defying, supremely gonzo blast, presented in a widescreen format that allows the watcher to see every single rubber scale. The original title for this quintessential creature bash translates as Godzilla Electric Battle Masterpiece, which just about says it all. --Andrew Wright

3 out of 5 stars Not bad...but, not one of the best either.......2007-03-22

This Godzilla movie was good, however, i would have to say, not one of the best Godzilla movies in my view. Not enough monster battles scenes and too much talk, the narration was lame, but, its the 70s what can you say and any good monster fights is toward the end of the film. This film is only for the "hardcore" Godzilla fans and a rental at best, but, other than that, its a fun movie to watch.

1 out of 5 stars Doesn't Work?????.......2006-11-11

I assumed I could just plop it in and watch the movie...but No? I put it in and something pops up called "SpinWare"??? It gives me two options "Cancel" and "Activate SpinWare" I click 'Cancel' and nothing happens, I click 'Activate SpinWare' and it takes me to something called 'ADV FILMS'. It give me a choice between 'ADV USA' and 'ADV UK', I click on 'ADV USA' and it says 'The page cannot be found'. And that is the extent of my viewing pleasure. This Sucks!!! Can anyone help me???

2 out of 5 stars Des. All Mon........2006-08-22

The Plot is exelant, but the picture is realy, realy, bad. They don't even show mothra as an adult. Only larva! It's like the movie "Godzilla vs. Monster Zero" only with a lot more monsters such as Mothra, Manda, and Gorosaurus.

3 out of 5 stars Conflicted.......2006-08-12

There was a few things I liked about this film and alot I hated.... Well hate is a strong word, but I was dissapointed to say the least. Although "Destroy All Monsters" features a ridiculous large cast of monsters, the amount of time they actually spend fighting is small and the fight is really one-sided. The main plot, which involves a crack team of commandos in a space ship?!? is pretty unintersesting and takes too much away from the film. If u want to see a Three-headed space Dragon get gang beat in a massive ground pound by practically every monster known to the franchise, this is that film.

As "gigantic monster reptile attacks New York" movies go, you've got to admit that Godzilla delivers the goods, although its critical drubbing and box-office disappointment were arguably deserved. It's a shameless, uninspired crowd pleaser that's content to serve up familiar action with the advantage of really fantastic special effects, and if you expect nothing more you'll be one among millions of satisfied customers. There's really no other way to approach it--you just have to accept the fact that Independence Day creators Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin are unapologetic plagiarists, incapable of anything more than mindless spectacle that can play in any cinema in the world without dubbing or subtitles. The whole movie plays out like a series of highlights stolen from previous blockbusters of the 1990s; it's little more than a rehash of the Jurassic Park movies. The derivative script is so trivial that it's unworthy of comment, apart from a few choice laughs and the casting of Michael Lerner as New York's mayor, whose name is Ebert and who closely resembles a certain well-known movie critic. Perhaps that's a clever hint that this movie's essentially critic-proof. It's stupid but it's fun, and for most audiences that's a fitting definition of mainstream Hollywood entertainment. The widescreen Special Edition DVD includes a wealth of bonus materials--audio commentary by the film's special effects supervisors, a "making of" featurette, the Wallflowers' music video "Heroes," a photo gallery, and a variety of features related to this and all the classic Godzilla films from Japan. --Jeff Shannon

Good action picture. Godzilla is a cross between the old Godzilla and
Alien. Enjoyed very much.

2 out of 5 stars It's Hard to Catch a Cab In NYC.......2007-07-03

I watched 1998's Godzilla again after nine years and the experience has gotten better with age. I remember that I was hugely disappointed when the film was released but I guess I've mellowed with time. Either that or monster movies have gotten progressively worse.

Yes, the acting is routinely bad all around, even though Matthew Broderick and Jean Reno try. They are not helped by a rather poor script but I'm willing to forvive that now. Indeed there are a few funny (albeit unintentionally) lines of dialogue that produced chuckles.

The premise is as one would expect. Big monster created by nuclear fallout. It travels to New York in order to nest. Lots of mayhem ensues. Lots of baby zillas hatch at Madison Square Garden. There is a large amount of destruction before the good guys win. Godzilla spends about 30 minutes hunting down a cab. Monster killed. End of story. Great premise for summer blockbuster if your target audience is teenage boys. Bad premise for anyone who actually thinks about the film they have just seen. Sure its illogical but this is Godzilla not Citizen Cane.

I did not view the fairly new "Monster" Edition but the standard one disc limited edition. The film sounds great and looks quite good. It features a featurette on the making of the film and a commentary track by the Special Effects Coordinator along with some bonus publicity materials.
These special features ar ok but not great.

Like I said I've mellowed over the years. While Godzilla is not great filmaking it can be a rather fun ride. Give it a chance at least to laugh at.

5 out of 5 stars Good soundtrack, GREAT movie.......2007-06-13

I can't believe how stupid people are, when this movie came out people whined about it for various reasons. Some said well it doesn't look like the old Godzilla, ok it would have been nice but they set out for it to look more like a lizard not a man in a costume, and this is easily better than any corny Japanese Godzilla movies, which I enjoy as well but let's be realistic. As far as the Soundtrack it's good but not great, more around 3 1/2 stars but since some idiots on here reviewed the movie not the soundtrack it deserves more than 3 stars. Good tracks by Fuel, Green Day, Days of the New and others and the last two tracks from the score were good as well.

1 out of 5 stars Godzilla vs Mecha Devlin and Emmerich.......2007-05-15

This movie should only be viewed as a coaster for your beer to rest on while you watch a REAL Godzilla movie...P.S. I rated this loser of a flick 1 star because there wasn't an option for the this-is-the-worst-suck-movie-of-all-time rating

1 out of 5 stars I HATE ThiS MOVIE!.......2007-04-28

I am a big G-fan, and not all his movies are cheesy like stupid Americans claim. In fact. They now use great CGI effects, especially in Films like GMK and Godzilla vs.Destroyah. The acting is not good. The characters are cardboard cutouts, could be easily copied and pasted into any random "Sci-fi channel Un-original Movie"

This 2001 Godzilla feature from Japan's Toho Studios, released as part of the mighty monster's 50th anniversary, is a visually impressive and action-packed entry in the long-running franchise, but also one with a fast and loose re-interpretation of its history that may displease some stalwart fans. Writer-director Shusuke Kaneko (who previously revitalized the Gamera series) erases everything that occurred after 1954's Godzilla and re-imagines the beast as a mythical creature harboring the souls of the Japanese victims of World War II; its attack is challenged by three "Guardian Monsters": Mothra, perennial villain King Ghidorah (here reinvented as hero) and B-list player Baragon (from Frankenstein Challenges the World). The retooling, while imaginative, is supported by spectacular special effects, but the monsters' brawls (a core reason for enjoying these films) seem abbreviated, and Kaneko's script experiences awkward seismic shifts from comedy to grim drama that may befuddle longtime G-fans. Columbia-Tri-Star's DVD is widescreen and offers Dolby Digital 5.1 sound and a Japanese language track (with English subtitles) that should please viewers with an aversion to dubbing. Trailers for other Sony/Columbia sci-fi titles like the American Godzilla feature are also included. --Paul Gaita

Description

After 50 years since his attack on Tokyo in 1954, the destructive monster Godzilla has somehow returned to life to destroy the city again. Now the religious cult must call upon the three monsters, King Ghidorah, Mothra and Baragon to protect Japan from Godzilla!

5 out of 5 stars Godzilla ROCKS in this movie!.......2007-06-12

My 5 year old son has been watching Godilla movies with me for some time now, and this movie recently appeared on cable. I had never seen it before , and WOW - Gozilla ROCKS! He is certainly more agressive, and with his milky eyes seems far more sinister. Having King Ghidorah as a good guy was a little wierd, but seemed to work OK.
The special effects were excellent. The miniature work was above par in comparison to earlier Godzilla movies. And this lizard is MEAN.
There are no annoying "faries" sining songs on miniature Mothras, just an excellent movie overall.

3 out of 5 stars Best G-Film of the Millenium series...Bare bones release.......2007-03-21

Despite the creative controls forced by Toho, Shusuke Kaneko delivers a fantastic entry to the Godzilla series, perhaps the best since Biollante in '89. Although there are a few plot elements that could have been better explained, GMK has a strong story and features memorable characters performing some of the most heroic acts since the golden age of the '60s. The effects are top notch, with very few "cringe" moments that often plague tokusatsu eiga. I can only dream of what could have been if Shinji Higuchi was at the spfx director's helm. But that's only a fanboy wish. In the end, while certainly nowhere near the masterpiece that is Gamera 3, GMK is a slice above the rest of the Godzilla series and we have Kaneko to thank for it.

The DVD by Tristar unfortunately suffers from the same minimalist approach as most of their other Godzilla releases. The film presentation is superb (and it should be...the movie was only 3 years old at the time of it's release). The 5.1 surround is fantastic and sounds great. The English dub is horrendous as usual, so don't bother listening to it. However, be forewarned: the subtitles on this disc are taken from the English dub and NOT from the original Japanese dialog. Therefore, expect a great deal of "loose" translations that may confuse you or even give the wrong information. In other words, those often idiotic phrases you will see do not come from the original script. Believe me, the Japanese acting is great and does not suffer from bad dialog (I've seen this movie with proper subtitles).

Extras are non-existent, which is a real shame seeing as the R2 release by Toho is filled to the brim with behind the scenes footage and documentaries. Why Tristar doesn't just use those is completely beyond me.

In the end, this is a worthwhile release and if you don't care about how they made it (which is too bad seeing as how suitmation BTS are fantastic to watch...more interesting than a bunch of people sitting at a computer rendering effects) then this is for you. If you are a geek like me and willing to spend a little more money, get a region-free player and buy Toho's disc (I plan on doing that soon).

3 out of 5 stars The fat Godzilla.......2007-02-17

The big G is back and fatter than ever. The story is different in this movie, and I'm annoyed how they just push all the other godzilla movies out of the way. The three monsters who fight Godzilla, who are called Guardian monsters, are called Beragon, the newcomer, Mothra, the peacemaker and Ghidorah, the villian that has now turned hero. Godzilla's cool, his attitude being one of the crappiest I've ever seen, but they make him way too fat in this movie; and he's walks too upright to me. I think it's good, and Godzilla has done it again.

5 out of 5 stars Now this is a Kaiju film!.......2006-07-21

This is the darkest Gojira film since the original from 1954. Thanks to the director of the awesome "Gamera: Advent of Legion", Shusuke Kaneko. He has a knack for making dark, sinister, awesome Kaiju films. This is what Gojira is suppose to be: a wicked, unstoppable force. Gojira shows no mercy towards anyone or anything. Gojira purposely takes human life. Look for a scene with a girl in a hospital as Gojira approaches. Grant it, Ryuhei Kitamura's "Godzilla: Final Wars" is good, but it is nothing like this film. One of the great aspects of this film is that Gojira has all white eyes; being that he is possessed by the souls of dead soldiers. King Ghidorah being a savior of man is something different. He was always a destroyer of mankind. Overall, the finest Kaiju film in decades. MUST BUY!!!

5 out of 5 stars Wow, wow, wow! Best Godzilla movie ever!.......2006-07-16

Outstanding Godzilla movie! This is the most well directed, well put together Godzilla movie that I have ever seen. Excellent quality here. The effects are truly incredible. The acting is superb. Godzilla looks better than he has ever looked.

This movie is intense and terrifying in many parts. You will be blown away by how great this movie is. Even for people who are not really Godzilla fans will enjoy this. This is the kind of movie that will just leave you saying, "wow". It's my all time favorite Gozilla film and anyone even slightly interested in Gozilla would surely enjoy this wonderful movie!

Known to Stateside moviegoers as Godzilla on Monster Island, this slight but fun 1972 entry in the Godzilla franchise pits the King of the Monsters and four-legged cohort Angilas against aliens bent on world domination, as well as their old nemesis, the space dragon King Ghidorah, and a new creature, the birdlike cyborg Gigan. Diehard G-fans may be disappointed by the film's kid-friendly tone (a shift in direction signaled several years earlier by Godzilla's Revenge) and its overreliance on stock footage from other Godzilla films to depict the monsters' orgy of destruction, as well as an unfortunate decision to make Godzilla "talk"; however, children (Gigan's real audience) will undoubtedly enjoy the frantic action. Parents should know that there are two brief moments of blood-letting (Godzilla and Angilas both suffer wounds from a buzzsaw that juts from Gigan's torso), but otherwise, the film is free of objectionable material. --Paul Gaita

4 out of 5 stars Bored? In need of a cheesy B-flick? Godzilla vs Gigan is for you!.......2007-03-07

I am sick, so I decided to get a Big G movie. My friend and I love old cheesy movies, especially Godzillas. I got G vs Gigan and G: Final Wars (Which I am also righting a review about). G vs Gigan didn't disappoint me. I laughed and laughed over the cheesy fight scenes and the pathetic antics of the moronic Japenese actors. The aliens in this Godzilla are actually (of course) cockroaches from outer space! (Seriously. I kid you not.) I used the English dub for a short while but then simply opted for the Japanese voiceovers and English subtitles. The English dub was a collection of fifty year old voice actors. (Sad). But, now to what really matters: the monsters. There are four main ones in this movie, and a collection of small appearances. Godzilla (of course) is the hero, and then there's his sidekick, Anguiras. The little armodillo gets smacked around and beaten up, and is really no help. The villians are Gigan, a cyborg razor blade, and King Ghidorah. Gigan looks pretty cool, but King Ghidorah is done very poorly (I don't mind). At the beggining of the movie, Godzilla stomps out. I though he looked really pathetic until he roared. That trademark roar changed everything, and suddenly he was awesomeness itself. Anguirus is the best done monster. He looks pretty nice. There are several battle sequences, all cheesy the way I like it. In one scene where Gigan and King Ghidorah rampage through Tokyo (for the millioth time), Gigan actually stomps past a building with two dolls inside. Little Kelly Dolls with rosy cheeks! Little shrimps! Sad, but hilarious. So, all in all, you get what you expect. GET IT if you like Godzilla or cheesy B-flicks. DON'T GET IT if you dislike Godzilla, cheesy B-flicks, or girly Japanese 70s actors (and a talking Godzilla.) Good stuff, I say.

4 out of 5 stars 4 Stars for Ghidorah fans only.......2006-04-05

I was going to rate this three stars but I rated it four stars becaue I am a King Ghidorah fan (he is my 2nd favorite Kaiju, slightly behind Rodan)

It's still good but not as good as most other G-films. Gigan is a decent opponent but there was a lot of stock footage. Seeing stock footage badly used in a movie is weird. Normally, movies don't have stock footage. Anyway, G fights Gigan a lot and King Ghidorah helps gigan at times. anguirus tries to help G but ends up getting beaten up through most of the fight scene. The monster/ttack fight scene, from where King Ghidorah and Gigan attack Tokyo onwards, is about 40 minutes long. It would have been better if the original footage were set during the day (because stock footage was set during the day). One thing that would have made this movie much better is if Rodan had been in it instead of Anguirus.

4 out of 5 stars Gigan is one of the Coolest Godzilla Foes Yet!.......2005-10-21

Gigan is a cool Godzilla villain and proves to make a great team with King Ghidorah. They could have beat Godzilla if Godzilla didn't have any help from Anguirus. The reason for four stars is becauase Godzilla and Anguirus talk! I do not like the Showa series in the slightest. My favorite is the Millinium series I think. Anyway, it's a descent Godzilla movie. I like it.

4 out of 5 stars G & Nubula Spacehunter M ( .......2005-08-22

Okay, I admit that Godzilla vs Gigan is one of the corney Godzilla movies of the 70s but it isn't nearly as bad as Godzilla vs Hedorah. Okay, let's see: We have a Team Battle Between four of some of the most famous kaiju, an alien invasion plot, explosions, and a bunch of fighting that doesn't seem to get old. Mix it up and you get a great Sci-Fi flick! Okay, it's not the best Sci-Fi movie but it is one of the best Showa Godzilla movies. I keep watching it and it never seems to get old. Many other movies like Star Wars original trilogy, Lord of the Rings, A.V.P, and a lot of other stuff, I just don't find appealing when I watch it for the second time. But Godzilla vs Gigan never gets old! It has King Ghidorah, my third favorite kaiju, Angilas, my favorite Godzilla ally, Gigan, now a very popular favorite of mine, and of course Godzilla the King of Monsters. This is just a really good movie for soemone who's in the mood to have fun! Buy it, you can keep watching it a bunch of times and it just never expires!

Gaaaaaaaargh! The guy in the rubber suit is back with a vengeance. Godzilla's back in the nurturing hands of Toho Studios, and they've beefed up the big beast with more highly developed spinal fins, resembling large crystals, and more menacing teeth. But he's the same guy in the rubber suit who smashes Tokyo's buildings and cars and dukes it out in larger-than-life smackdowns with the universe's monstrous villains. The plot is familiar to anyone who was a 12-year-old boy: Godzilla erupts from the sea for reasons that are never made clear, proceeds to wreak havoc amongst the buildings of a model city, and meets and beats a monster his own size, thus saving humanity. His nemesis this time around is a 600-foot-long rock that scientists find at the bottom of the ocean and unwisely bring to the surface, where it proves to be an alien spacecraft bent on acquiring Godzilla's regenerative abilities. "A visitor from outer space?" exclaims one of the scientists, "My god, it's just too crazy to believe!" To which the lead scientist responds, "Right, like Godzilla's normal. Anyway, it's my theory that..."

The film is thoroughly entertaining, and not just for the breathtaking sequences of destruction that follow Godzilla's emergence and his battles with the alien space monster. These do have a preternatural beauty. But the human story, if you can call it that, holds your interest due to the shear preponderance of improbabilities it generates. You laugh at the "mistakes"--assuming they weren't planted there as amiable self-deprecation. --Jim Gay

5 out of 5 stars WHAT A FIRE BREATHING BLAST!.......2007-06-08

Given I'm from the Raymond Burr generation of Godzilla Fans, I must say, this remake is a fire breathing blast!!! My brother and I grew up on the old Godzilla films as boys. I really was not that all impressed with the one that starred Mathew Broderick. I love Mathew's work, but lets face it, there is nothing that beats the old Godzilla formula I grew up with or the look of our dear old handsome looking dragon. As I think back, my brother and I would often spend an afternoon building whole cities in our bedroom, using erector sets, lincoln logs, and other building type kits while orchestrating our own play scripts having our stuffed animals destroy the make believe city we built in our bedroom. Loads of fun and it kept us out of our parents hair. What inspired us; well, Godzilla, of course! (lol)

Watching this first, of the new millenium several remakes, was a delight. All was very well done along the lines of the old Godzilla film formula. I had hoped someday, someone would follow that old formula using today's special effects and didn't know it started in 2000. Guess I'm a little behind trying to catch up on the International film making scene. This film looks really great and is awesome in surround sound.

The script is nothing complex. Man has found a underwater rock that floats to the surface, is really an alien ship in disguise which gives birth to a horrible looking alien creature, as big as Godzilla, that wants to take over the world. Comes Godzilla to save the day and banish this evil creature, while wiping out part of Tokyo to do the job. I have nothing against the Japanese people, but they sure do have a thing against their own city wanting to wipe it out all the time with a fire breathing dragon like Godzilla. (chuckling) In the end, Godzilla makes it clear no one messes with him, not even the head administrative official who launches his attacks to try and destroy Godzilla throughout the film.

Like the old Godzilla films, you really don't see anyone directly killed in this remake, except at the end when the head official gets his by the "don't mess with me lizard" he tries to destroy throughout the film. Death is always near misses in this film, so it should be great for kids to watch. It's scary, but fun. A nice change from all the films that show so much of death's gore and horror only all to graphically these days.

The original Japanese is in the audio which is great and the minuture work looks even better than the old movie series. Very real looking, but still lots of fun as Godzilla fights to protect and beat up Tokoyo in one fire breathing breath.

There is a short behind the scenes feature added to the DVD. It's not very long and frankly a disappointment. Even though its in Japanese, I would have liked to have had the main people interviewed with english translations to hear more about why this remake was finally being pursued and why this particular script was written to start off the remake series of films since 2000. It would have also been helpful to give some folklore behind the whole Godzilla mythology in Japanese tradition for Americans to understand better. I think the Japanese have a great civilization and this would have been a chance for the film makers to better bridge the generation and civilization gap for young viewers eager to learn about their culture and way of thinking.

Otherwise, the packaging is just fine. Delivery was fast! The product arrived ahead of time. No problems with the DVD disk. In short, no complaints.

Looking forward to more romping, chomping and burning from our friend Godzilla!

In fact, with my brother's birthday around the corner, I decided to buy all five new remakes and send them to him as a birthday gift which I know he'll love. Don't know what his wife might think, but with any luck they can cling to each other, while they lie in bed watching tv, as Godzilla scares the hell out of them!

4 out of 5 stars A better effort in the series.......2007-01-10

You know what you're getting with Godzilla, and while there are unintentionally funny moments in this film, by and large it's better than most of the series. As you explore our giant nuclear dinosaur friend's oeuvre, this should be one of your first stops, along with Godzilla 1985 and of course the original 1954 Burr-less film.

5 out of 5 stars Godzilla vs. the UFO.......2006-11-12

Godzilla 2000 is Japan's answer to the American Godzilla. Thank you Japan. In this movie Godzilla gets into a fight with a UFO found in the ocean, which crash landed millions of years ago. But now it has been activated and wants one thing - Godzilla's DNA. With his genes the life force within the spaceship can take form, can create a body of flesh and blood, and take over the planet Earth.
Extras include a behind the scenes feature, the movie trailer and commentary by the staff that prepared the movie for the English-speaking viewers.

5 out of 5 stars New Godzilla movie satisfys the geeky need for Godzilla fans!.......2006-07-31

Ok, I'll admit it. When I was a kid I LIVED for Saturday morning "sci-fi theater" type programs and always hoped for a good Godzilla movie to be featured. Well, I haven't kept up with the lore and movies but I will watch one when I see it on late night tv here and there. I can't explain it because the movies ARE undeniably cheesey, but there's just something about the big lizard that I like. :) Now, I got this movie to see if it was possible that the newer movies had progressed to the point where they would be cool AND not cheesy. This doesn't disappoint!

Of course, the lip synching is still there and that was always part of the charm of the older movies in my opinion. Other than that however, I was actually impressed. This movie doesn't look like a guy in a lizard suit tromping around. It looked like I always WISHED it would look as a kid. I found this movie to have the best elements of all the old "classics" but the special effects and realism that you'd hope for in a 21st century movie. Don't tell anyone, but I LIKED this movie! :)

4 out of 5 stars Unreal.......2006-06-05

Let me just say this about Godzilla Movies in general: Forget about trying to understand the "plot", if there was one to start with, it gets lost in translation/dubbing to English and none of these Millenium Series movies makes any sense at all. They seem to be an odd mix of fantasy, sci-fi, horror and drama. You really need to take a leap of faith into the Godzilla Universe to sit through an entire movie, the dialog and themes are hard to take. I'd say it probably boils down to nothing more than a difference between Japaneese and American story telling sensibilities. After watching the whole thing, My son and I like to watch it again a time or two, but we jump right to the best Monster battle scenes - that's the beauty of the DVD format, you can go right to the good stuff and pass up all the weird parts in between.

That said, the MS movies are absolutely awesome. Compared to the older "guy-in-suit" Godzilla Movies, the new ones (90's-2000's) are cutting edge. They have mind blowing special effects, huge sets of cities built with models, and they seem to have a creepy, chilling, & darker look to the night scenes. The "behind the scenes" part is neat, showing how they shoot the films - just as enjoyable as the movie.

The UFO is mosty CGI animation and looks goofy flying around, but the combat scenes between the army, airforce, Godzilla, the model UFO, and the alien monster are outstanding. There's missiles & shells flying everywhere, just like it should be, all out warfare. I didn't get the other's reviewer's mention of male/female sugestion in the scene, they must have a dirty mind.

1 out of 5 stars Space Amoeba Bombs........2007-04-27

I'm a fan of the old 1950's style sci-fi (DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, KRONOS, EARTH VS. THE FLYING SAUCERS, IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE, IT CAME FROM BENEATH THE SEA, 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH, etc.) and Japanese Hero shows like the original ULTRAMAN so I always enjoy a good monster romp. I recently rented Ishiro Honda's SPACE AMOEBA (also known as YOG: MONSTER FROM SPACE) in hopes of such an hour-and-a-half of monster fun and adventure. As expected, the movie did have some impressive looking monsters, but the romping, fun and adventure was less than exciting. The rubber-suited men portrayed a giant cuttlefish, a giant crab and a giant turtle (known respectively as Gezora, Ganime and Kameba), but strangely enough, no SPACE AMOEBA. Perhaps the blue, alien, space mist is supposed to be the SPACE AMOEBA, but the movie is never clear on this point. Nevertheless, space amoeba or no space amoeba, the picture is a total bore. I forward- advanced through the last 30 minutes in hopes of getting to the good stuff, but the film never delivered. Sure, there's a supposed monster battle at the end, but none of the creatures have any personality. Probably the best scene is where the giant crab fall over a cliff and lands on his back on a pile of gasoline barrels. The hero of the picture then shoots the barrels with a rifle blowing the helpless creature into a million pieces. This was Ishiro Honda's last picture and it's not hard to see why. If you want to see good, old-fashioned monsters watch ULTRAMAN series 1, volumes 1 & 2 or any of the classic 50's sci-fi mentioned above because the crisp, clean DVD transfer and DVD extras do not save SPACE AMOEBA from being a giant monster bomb.

4 out of 5 stars One of my favorites.......2007-03-30

I'm not really going to add anything to what's already been etensively described in the other reviews here, except this: I am glad to have this film on DVD - I think it's a great old "bad" movie, beautifully filmed in Guam in the usual visually sensitive Toho manner. My only complaint (and basis for 4 instead of 5 stars) is that the English audio track on this DVD is not the AIP (Americal International Pictures) dubbing. For people who like these films (and who are Americans or grew up here) the best soundtracks to include on a DVD of such a film would appear to be (1) the original langauge soundtrack (here, Japanese, which this DVD has) and (2) the original dubbed soundtrack that was part of the movie when it was released here and later shown on TV in the US. In the case of this movie, the particular vocal and acting skills of the actors in the AIP dubbing really did add quite a bit of (probably not always intended) atmosphere and nuance to this film. ... In any case, I was glad to see this movie appearing on a DVD, particularly as it's been so nicely put together otherwise. I only wish that they had included the AIP English dubbing which has much more "personality" than the blander, more neutral-sounding English dub that made it onto this DVD. ... Notwithstanding the above, if you're interested in this film this DVD is very much worth getting.

5 out of 5 stars A GIANT CRAB!!!!! CRAB!! CRAB!!!! CRAB!!!!.......2006-06-20

For the last time folks. Let's get it straight GANIMES (or Ganime) is a gigantic mutated CRAB!! He is absolutely NOT a lobster. He has no tail like a lobster and no big lobster claws. Why does everyone find it so confusing. Haven't you ever been to Red Lobster or a sushi restaurant? Ganimes is definately a crab. Ebirah is a giant lobster or shrimp (which is closely related to a lobster). "Ebi" means shrimp. Ebirah has a tail. So he cannot possibly be a crab. Get it strait folks.
Ganemes= crab
Ebirah= lobster

5 out of 5 stars Apollo Meets Scrubbing Bubbles .......2006-03-29

"Space Amoeba" is one of the more surreal Japanese rubber monster movies featuring four monsters, though only three are made of latex. Filmed in Guam, this was the last non-Godzilla film to be made by the great Ishiro Honda. The DVD is extremely well done, especially considering the lack of extras on most DVDs of this genre. The movie is an excellent transfer and contains a commentary track (!) with Producer Fumio Tanaka, which is almost as entertaining as the film itself. There are also trailers, a documentary on the real animals that inspired the creatures in the film, and more.

The plot is essentially this: an unmanned spacecraft is intercepted by a monster, the space amoeba of the title (and apparently known as Yog in the original release), which looks like blue scrubbing bubbles invading a scarcely altered Apollo Command Service Module (CSM). When the spacecraft returns to earth with the Yog-spores it lands near an island which is slated to become a resort destination. The spores act to gigantify creatures that then trample all over the island, though avoiding each other for most of the movie (many villages are destroyed, however). The creatures are Gezora, a cuttlefish-like affair, Ganimes, a crab, and Kamoebas, a snapping turtle. Without question, Gezora is the most ridiculous creature I have ever seen onscreen (unless you count some of the creatures from "Ultraman"); I particularly enjoy watching him walk on his tendrils.

The main human characters are a couple of photographers, one of whom gets possessed by Yog, and the perky female advertising assistant. Ultimately the plot all comes to a head when the creatures converge on an active volcano along with the possessed guy; after all the monsters are immolated in the lava the island is ready for tourism.

The film lacks the typical Honda good-versus-evil rubber monster, with all monsters equally bad. Offsetting this oversight is the bonus commentary track which is much more interesting than I expected. It is in Japanese with English subtitles, but Tanaka shares many interesting tidbits about making these films which will please grade-Z movie fans. I was especially pleased that Tanaka noticed the resemblance between the star of the film, Akira Kubo ("Matango: The Fungus of Terror"; "Attack of the Mushroom People"), and Charlie Sheen (which cannot possibly be overlooked). He also had some other interesting comments relating to Apollo 11 and Apollo 13 (the Apollo 13 accident occurred during filming). My favorite part of the commentary was when Tanaka and his interviewer discuss at great length the definition of the word "minx" and how it applied to various Toho starlets. His understated humor and observations are genuinely entertaining, and I recommend the commentary track highly.

I would have probably given the film four stars as a Japanese rubber monster movie, but I finally settled on five due to the bonus features, especially the commentary. Fans of Japanese films and monster movies in general will delight in this film.

4 out of 5 stars You'll always be Yog to me..........2006-03-23

You may have been originally released as Gezora, Ganime, Kameba: Kessen! Nankai no daikaijû (1970), but you'll always be Yog: Monster from Space (1971) to me...directed by the legendary Ishirô Honda (Godzilla, Rodan! The Flying Monster, The Mysterians), with original music by Akira Ifukube (Godzilla, Rodan! The Flying Monster), the film features a host of familiar faces to those who love on these Japanese Toho monster features including Akira Kubo (Gorath, Matango, Destroy All Monsters), Atsuko Takahashi (Destroy All Monsters), Kenji Sahara (Matango, Atragon, Ghidrah, the Three-Headed Monster), and Yoshio Tsuchiya (Baran: Monster from the East, Matango, Godzilla Vs. Monster Zero). Also appearing is Noritake Saito (Godzilla vs. Gigan), Chotaro Togin (Destroy All Monsters), Tetsu Nakamura (Mothra), Yukiko Kobayashi (Destroy All Monsters), and Wataru Omae (Godzilla Versus the Sea Monster).

The movie begins with an unmanned rocket blasting off into space, one that's carrying a space probe intended to scope out Jupiter. On it's way to the Jovian gas giant, the probe encounters some sparkly space dust, which gloms on to the craft, takes control, and turns it back towards Earth. During its re-entry, a photographer named Taro Kudo (Kubo), traveling on a plane, witnesses the craft crash into the ocean, but no one believes him. He then gets an offer from a development company to photograph an island where they plan to build a paradise resort, and he agrees only because the island happens to be in the same area he saw the probe crash (great idea there, building a luxury resort on Monster Island). Along for the ride are a really annoying company woman named Ayako (Takahashi), a scientist named Dr. Kyoichi Mida (Tsuchiya), and a mysterious individual named Makoto Obata (Sahara). Prior to their arrival, a company man on the island has an encounter with a gianormous squid (be sure to send us a postcard from inside the beast's belly), and the natives go crazy go nuts (they believe the arrival of the outsiders has angered their god, resulting in the giant monsters getting all frisky). The group arrives on the island and soon enough sees first hand the wackiness caused by the space dust, which is actually some sort of amoeba-like alien life form, and its penchant for embiggening the local animal population. There's the giant squid, followed by a humongous crab, and last, but not least, a monstrous snapping turtle. Turns out not only is the alien goo a sentient being, but one that desires to dominate the world, and has been super sizing various beast in order to make it happen. The various monsters thrash the island, copulating with many a thatched hut in the process, the small group fights back with the help of the natives (initiating what has to be the biggest cookout I've ever seen), but given the enormity of the beasts, all hope seems lost. All bow down before your new alien embiggened crustacean masters!

While this may not be one of my favorite Japanese monster features, it's still kinda fun (I have a hard time believing Honda was behind this one). I suppose the main issue I have with the film is the fact that while there are various monsters running around, they don't really engage each other in any battles (at least not until the end), or have any real personality, as the aliens control them all, and there is no `hero' type creature (like Godzilla) to save the day, providing some real rompin' stompin' action. The creatures do work over the native village pretty well, but how many thatched huts can you see smashed before it gets old (I think maybe a limited budget confined the action to the island, avoiding the cost of tons of miniatures)? Had the beast actually made it to civilization, then we would have had something, but it never happens. Here's a really funny bit...initially we're told the development of a paradise resort on this island was supposed to be some sort of top secret project, but when the group arrives on the island, there's a good sized sign posted, the kind developers use to advertise what they're building on a specific piece of land, which is really a great way to keep a secret (actually, the hotel was supposed to be some sort of submarine habitat, I think...the story began falling apart at the seams as more ultimately useless plot details were revealed). I suppose it didn't really matter, as the island was fairly remote, but then how stupid is that, to put up a sign virtual no one will see? Arggh...another really funny bit was when one of the main characters early on actually proposed the whole `monster' aspect a hoax, despite the fact that not only was the company hut completely demolished (along with the man inside), but there was a humongous path of plant destruction from where the giant squid walked across land to get to the hut, and then traveled back to return to the water (who knew squids could walk?). I liked most of the characters in the story well enough (the two company men stationed on the island were pretty idiotic), but I did find the female lead about the most irritating I've seen in a long time. If she's not screaming indiscriminately, she's offering forth the most idiotic statements and just making herself a pest in general. The only reason the others didn't feed this useless bit of excess baggage to the monsters immediately was because she did rate relatively high on the `cute' scale. Her character really served no purpose in the film other than to provide keep it from being a sausage fest (an all male film). As far as Dr. Kyoichi Mida, the scientist hired by the development company to examine the native animal life, he makes some of the most intuitive deductions this side of a Sherlock Holmes movie. Seriously...from out of nowhere he comes up with the theory that the giant monsters are a result of manipulation by some alien life form...yes, it happened to be true, but I have not a clue in hell how he came up with this given how little he actually had to go on...as far as the monsters go, I thought they looked pretty cool, showing a whole lot of detail. The squid was a bit funky, but the crab was spectacular, with the snapping turtle falling somewhere in between. Eventually a couple of these creature do tangle (near the end), as you really can't have a giant monster movie like this featuring three beast and not have them fight at some point. It may seem like I have a lot of misgivings about this film (I do), but I still had a lot of fun between the unintentional stupidity of some of the characters and the monsters themselves. There's any number of better Japanese monster, or "kaiju", films out there, but if you've curious, this one's worth a look.

Media Blasters provides an excellent looking anamorphic widescreen (2.35:1) picture on this DVD, along with a newly created Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround sound audio track, along with a Dolby Digital mono track. As far as extras, Media Blasters goes that extra mile yet again providing a commentary track with producer Fumio Tanaka, a short documentary titled `Meet the Marine Animals behind the Monster!', a special announcement bit, an original trailer, English subtitles, and previews for other Media Blasters DVD releases like Dogora (1964), The Mysterians (1957), Varan the Unbelievable (1962), and Atragon (1963).

5 out of 5 stars A true Toho scifi classic........2007-05-30

This film established the very first alien invasion toho film, and certainly the best. The Special effects are very good, and most still hold up today. Eiji Tsuburaya is hard to beat when it comes to matte shots and miniature destruction. IMO, he had a bigger effect on modern SFX than any other SFX director, American or otherwise. To those of you who scoff at suitmation, let me tell you this. Suitmation looks a HELL of a lot more convincing than stop motion, especially when slowed down. And filmmakers are quite lazy today. All they rely on is CG, which to tell you the truth, lacks organic illusion. At least you KNOW somethings actually there with suitmation. Sure, the Mogera was laughable in regards to it's movement. Akira Ifukube composes a great score here.

4 out of 5 stars Mysterians.......2007-01-31

One of Toho's best non-Godzilla movies. While the special effects aren't the best, it was also 1957 when this was made. Ifukube's score is one of his best, especially his millitary march. Very entertaining movie.

4 out of 5 stars A Very Fun Nostalgic Cinematic Fare!.......2007-01-24

"The Mysterians," is another one of those films which remind me of my childhood. I remember watching this film at quite a young age. For those who have seen, or remember viewing "Matango: Attack of the Mushroom People," this film is by the same director: Ishiro Honda. One of the funny things a like about this film, besides the memories, is the actor (Takashi Shimura) as Dr. Tanjuro Adachi. And while Takashi Shimura was in quite a few films, Kaiju included, it is still great to see him in any film. He has always been one of my favorite actors, and to think that the man whose outstanding performances in "Ikiru" [one of my favorite films] and "Seven Samurai" is in this film only makes me chuckle.

Only now we viewers get to see the film how it was meant to be viewed: Uncut, and in letterbox format. It amazed me when I first purchased this film how much was gutted on U.S. televisions. After viewing "The Mysterians" countless times on television in the 1960s and early 1970s, I was pleasantly surprised to find this film had been released on DVD. Moreover, this film has finally been restored: for now at least. Also, as a confession, I will be the first to admit that the film may not warrant the four-star rating, but more like a three-star rating. The film is obviously dated, and will in no way compare to todays films. However, it does hold quite a bit of nostalgia for me. And therefore, I may
