What the hell is wrong with all you people! this was the biggest waste of tape i have ever seen. not only did they cheat us out of plot, they cheated us on gore. Amazon is selling this giant turd of film for $103.99. Who would buy "Progeny," a retarded attempt at sci-fi...or is it horror....or is it a sappy romance with soap opera-like actors....whatever it is Brian Yuzna can shove it up his pootie tang. don't rent it and sure as hell don't buy it. i will now cry tears of sorrow for my two dollars...

Stuart Gordon Creates Another Thriller.......2003-12-31

Considering that this is by Stuart "Re-Animator" Gordon, it bears a much closer resemblance to Dagon than Re-Animator is atmosphere and style.

A doctor and his wife are trying to have a baby. One night they are interrupted by a bright light and they discover that two hours have gone by. The husband is bothered by this but really freaks out when a bright light flashed in his eyes causes him to space out for a few minutes. His wife is now pregnant.

Hypnosis and seeing a TV spot about alien abduction gets him thinking.

The film progresses nicely as the doctor becomes more and more convinced that there is something wrong with the baby his wife is carrying. One of the great things about this film is that you are kept guessing as to whether he is crazy or not.

This is much more of a psychological thriller than a gore fest, so those looking for the gore may be disappointed (there is a little), but those looking for a film with actual creepiness will find a tasty treat with this one.

One other note, you might notice that the husband is almost always on screen (he does an excellent job).

"Better than Re-Animator".......2003-06-14

If I could give this film 6 stars, I would. This movie is OUTSTANDING!!! It's from the same guy who directed Re-Animator, Brian Yuzna. A married couple happily await the arrival of their first child, but little do they know the nightmare that awaits... Great special FX, interesting plot, & A++ acting. This film has been one of the most slept on horror movies in the past couple of decades. It's a classic, up their with "The Exorcist," "American Werewolf in London," & "Dawn of the Dead." If you don't have this movie already, GET IT!! It will be OOP very soon.

Only For Arnold Vosloo.......2002-01-28

I have to say that I am a latecomer to Vosloo. I recently(YES I KNOW) saw The Mummy and The Mummy Returns on tv and was struck by the Character who played Imhotep. I was amazed at his screen presence and wanted to know more about him. Though Vosloo received limited screen time in the Mummy Movies, (Frazier was the lead)he stole the show! Vosloo seems to have an innate sensitivity--an a great strength about him. This is a man with a sense of who he is. I purchased this video to find out what he did before his big break.

This movie starts out with a WONDERFUL(and I do mean wonderful) view of Arnold's posterior (I'm quivering and blushing as I type). I immediately hit the rewind button for another view of 'The Vos'. He is making love to his wife when something strange happens. Vosloo (An ER Doctor) tells his therapists that his and his wife's memory of that night is a bit hazy. Through hypnosis they both remember--that aliens impregnated her! Vos teams up with an alien abduction expert to save his(uncooperative)wife before it is to late.
Cast includes Craig Burton (Arnold Vosloo), his wife Sherry (Jillian McWhirter) and alien abuction expert Bert Clavell (Brad Dourif).
This is a B movie with a B storyline, but Vosloo fans (myself included) should not be disappointed.

I am a fan of this director's work. This film is way over the top, but if you are a fan you'll enjoy this movie. I do not understand why there isn't a DVD release for the Basket Case 2 in the U.S.? They released Basket Case 3 why not complete the trilogy? Look for more of this director's films( Frank Henenlotter )if you like something different.

Basket case 3 :- The progeny........2005-04-16

What can I say about Basket case 3 well it was definently an improvement from the second film in the series but thats not saying much I still perfer the first film. The whole reason to watch this is that Bilial finally gets to show us what he's realy made of in one of the better scenes in the film, when two cops kidnapp his small freakish children and accidently kill his freak like girlfriend he soon gets his revenge on the whole police station in a hilarious and very gory sequence. Frank Henenlotter definently adds alot of humor in his film so I suggest nobody should take this seriously just like Peter Jakson's earlier films like Bad taste.

The Most Over-The-Top Of The Series.......2004-11-23

Defying description even more than the first two, "Basket Case 3: The Progeny" takes the series further into the outrageous and surreal than ever before. Now pretty much a full-fledged horror comedy but not only one of the rare examples of that form that works very well, but of a whole different nature than most of its peers at a fundamental level. NOT a spoof or light, the horror elements are stronger, more fearsome and more graphic than most 'straight' horror movies, and the elements of harrowing tragedy that dominated the original Basket Case are still in place, but so are elements of sexiness, cute appeal, insane action and over-the-top strange hilarity, including an 'armored Belial' scene that makes "Evil Dead 2" and even "Gremlins 2" seem as intently somber as "The Sixth Sense". There is probably no way all these differnt elements should come together as well as they do, or that it should be able to do it and stay in tune with more 'fully dark' original; it should come off as much of a misfire as "Jason X" but somehow doesn't - it's the only movie to fly on all these radically different tracks at the same time and succeed, and brings the "Basket Case" trilogy to a victorious conclusion.

THE ORIGINAL BASKETCASE IS A HIT HORROR/COMEDY WHITH ENOUGH LAUGHS KILLS CHILLS THE SEQUEL BASKETCASE 2 IS RUBISH BORING HAD AN OK ENDING.THIS ONE IS UP THERE WITH THE ORIGINAL THIS ONE TAKES COMEDY AND HORROR TO THE EXTREME.BELIHLE HAS NOW HAD KIDS THEY GET STOLE IL LEAVE IT THER.

Frank Hennenlotter is my hero.......2003-03-23

All three Basket Case films are good, but I think this may be a person favorite. It is not a serious film by any means but it has a lot of humor and a lot of heart. The timing and delivery of some of Kevin Van Hentenryck's lines are brilliant. It is a very stream of consciousness film in which several scenes seem improvised almost. This is not a film for someone who only likes thrillers or really frightening horror films, this if for a horror movie fan who also likes goofy spoofy horror films like Evil Dead 2 and Return of the Living Dead. This is a very typical Frank Hennenlotter film. If you liked Frankenhooker you'll love this. Do not prejudice against this film because a few people didn't like it. It is a very specific type of film for a very specific audience, and just because some people do not see the brilliance of it does not mean the brilliance isn't there. Judge for yourself. You just need to watch it with an open mind. I highly recommend this film.
