The definitive American television series of the '90s comes to the big screen with an anticlimactic whimper. And how could it be otherwise? Why should material so perfectly realized in one medium necessarily translate well into another? The series is crisply and thoughtfully executed in just about every detail, but the heart of its appeal lies in the elegant handling of complicated and evolving ongoing story lines, which is not something movies are especially good at. The big-screen drive for closure cramps the creative style, though it may also help nonfans get a grip on the proceedings. We do get some invigorating thrills and chills, however, and a more satisfying sense of the scale of an all-enveloping human-alien conspiracy than ever before, but there's no more plot development here than in an average two-part season-ending. FBI black sheep Mulder and Scully have been temporarily transferred from the X-Files project to an anti-terrorist unit to investigate an Oklahoma City-style bombing. They uncover a new wrinkle in the Syndicate/Cancer Man conspiracy--basically an attempt to help one bunch of (benign?) aliens fight off another bunch who want to colonize Earth. A spectacular, ice-bound finale thrillingly staged by series-veteran director Rob Bowman offers Mulder (but not a conveniently unconscious Scully) his first clear look at a You Know What, which in some quarters qualifies as an epochal event. Martin Landau offers the agents some crucial clues, and several familiar TV faces (including the Lone Gunmen and Mitch Pileggi's indispensable Assistant Director Skinner) turn up briefly to wink knowingly at faithful fans. --David Chute

Description

Thirty-seven thousand years ago, a deadly secret was buried in a cave in Texas. Now the secret has been unleashed. And it's discovery may mean the end of all humanity.

"The plague to end all plagues"

When a terrorist bomb destroys a building in Dallas, Texas, FBI Agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) are drawn into a dangerous conspiracy surpassing anything they've ever encountered. With the dubious assistance of a paranoid doctor (Academy Award -winner Martin Landau). Mulder and Scully risk their careers and their lives to hunt down a deadly virus which may be extraterrestrial in origin - and could destroy all life on earth. Their pursuit of truth pits them against the mysterious Syndicate, powerful men who will stop at nothing to keep their secrets safe, leading the agents from the cave in Texas, to the halls of the FBI, and finally to a secret installation in Antarctica which holds the greatest secret of all.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Addition to the X-Files History.......2007-06-30

The short and sweet version of this review: If you've watched X-Files and you've never seen this movie, you must! It has a great deal of extended information about various storylines from the television series. In and of itself, it is a great Sci-Fi movie and even if you aren't interested in the show itself, the movie is still a whole movie and can be enjoyed without any previous knowledge about Mulder and Scully!

5 out of 5 stars love it .......2007-06-30

If you like the series then you will like the movie. Mulder is so cute! anyways there is a great Mulder/Scully scene and the movie was done after season 5 i believe and was the right time for the movie. i saw it a long time ago in theaters with my dad. i thought of it the other day and bought it through amazon....its still a classic series. if you are a fan of x-files you must own the movie. even if you didn't watch the series i think you would still like this movie. its a great sci-fi watch! mainly b/c its possible and makes you think..what if? you will never look at bees the same again.

5 out of 5 stars Love the X Files!.......2007-06-12

I loved the weekly episodes of the X Files, so I wasn't disappointed with the movie. This 1998 film version of the Science Fiction series focuses on Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully as they try to determine why a bomb was used to cover up the true reasons the bodies of three firemen and a young boy were found in the wreckage, but they died earlier and in a different location! Dana and Fox soon find themselves tracing a deadly virus with extraterrestrial origins. When Scully is infected with the virus, Mulder races to find her after getting his hands on the antidote.

3 out of 5 stars Entertaining enough, but too many open ends for the casual fan.......2007-05-25

Despite being a big sci-Fi fan, I never got into the X-Files as a kid.
Like most non-fans, I just didn't have the patience for it. The show would hint at a lot, but it seemed very little would actually happen, and instead each show would just tease us a little more.

The reason I decided to watch the movie was because I thought that the movie would probably be designed for a wider audience, have a self-contained story, and lots more excitement and special effects than the TV show.

Well, kind of. There were more explosions and the special effects were a bit more snazzy. And it was very easy to jump right into it and pick up the story without much knowledge of the TV show. But, in typical X-files fashion, it teased a lot more than it delivered, and the ending was very unsatisfying.

To be fair, I realize this was intentional on the film maker's part. And in the director's commentary, the director repeatedly bragged about leaving things vague in order to make them scarier to the imagination. But, is it just me, or does anyone else think the X-files were never all that scary to begin with?

1 out of 5 stars Utterly unscientific garbage.......2006-07-05

Do not waste your money on this two-bit slam against any legitimate investigation into UFOs. Although it occassionally presents a few respected scientists and dedicated investigators, it quickly dismisses their statements and resorts to wholly unfounded skepticism discounting all as cranks, hoaxers, and even mentally ill cultists. This includes Project Blue Book's Dr. Hynek and many other highly respectable authors and scientists who are pegged as idiots. Just who is behind this release of hogwash and why they feel it necessary to attempt to dissuade the public from taking UFOs seriously is the real question. But you will not get any clues from this cheapo trashy production. I cannot even bear to bother with finishing watching the entire set of five discs. It is dull and repetitive tripe. Much like a Nightly News War on Terror propaganda piece.

5 out of 5 stars Mystery Solved.......2006-06-13

Here's recommendation #1.

Though I don't have a lot of interested in UFO phenomenon, being almost militantly skeptical on the subject, the box for The Alien Files looked interesting enough for me to pick up. On closer examination I saw the "Madacy Home Video" label and started to have doubts. Madacy is one of those companies that, from time to time, bundles poor-quality public-domain titles together. And I'd never heard of this series. The cover had few details. Still, the package looked slick, and I found a good deal on it, so I snatched it up. I figured that it would annoy me, give me a headache with its banality, or be way out in left field and childishly credulous. So many of those UFO documentaries I see on television, if not intolerably dry and inconsequential, are like "There might be extraterrestrials zipping around in flying saucers! Isn't that cool?" This series really defied my expectations. I am truly impressed. Mind you, some will find it all to be much too talky. The Alien Files is almost free of the expected cheesy reenactments with idealized actors (or, worse, un-idealized non-actors) and crude CGI spacecraft. There isn't the oily, off-putting, UFO-nut slant to it, either. In fact, the phenomenon is scrutinized in quite a sober, skeptical manner. The camerawork and special effects aren't flashy. It doesn't gaily browse through Roswell souvenir shops, or interview Hollywood special-effects experts or professional trekkies to give color to their presentation. Instead, The Alien Files spends almost all it's time talking to physicists, scientific investigators and other solid authorities who pick apart cases one by one in ten different episodes covering the various aspects of Ufology. It isn't padded out with the all-too-familiar film-clips you see in other UFO documentaries, and it doesn't waste much time with cases that simply aren't to be taken seriously. The series seeks a scientific framework for the phenomenon, rather than to simply debunk it. But again, it is mostly just a lot of old guys talking, so if you were expecting ten-hour commercial for the X-Files, be forewarned.

Banned in 23 countries, to controversial for the public, this terrifying feature film is based on dramatic revelations told by thousands of abducted women to an unbelieving public. An American housewife discovers that, by day, she is married to a human, but at night, she is abducted and spawns a race of cloned Alien/human hybrid children. From the producer of "The Boogeyman" and "The Boogeyman II", "A Secret UFO File: Apocolyptic Alien Love Triangle" is a horrifying, 35mm, sci-fi, thriller based on documented UFO abductee accounts of forbidden love described by over 10% of America's female population. 5 out of 5 stars Great eroticomedy.......2007-02-02

This film earns five stars out of five for being a great all-around postmodern sci-fi retro parody. Overall, Alien Erotica is really corny--the dialogues, costumes, and sets are ridiculously cheesy. The comedic quality of this film results from its being a spoof on the old X-files series coupled with and reinscribed by extremely bad acting, periodic shabby footage (that resembles vignettes from 1950's space and monster movies), and extremely hot actresses that look like they're from the pages of Penthouse. The potential for the erotic is very high in this film--featuring simulated sexual encounters and full body shots of B-movie hotties Kira Reed, Delphine Pacific, and Gabriella Hall--but is neutralized by the comedic element. The most interesting and would-be erotic sequence begins when Delphine Pacific (a hot Asian chick who plays the onboard scientist Dr. Claire Danning) is infected by the spores of the alien plant. She proceeds to whip off her horn-rimmed glasses, disrobe and spread the slimy alien spores all over her naked hardbody, roll around in ecstasy, and seduce several crew members to boot. What makes this scene so erotic/comedic is the radical switch that Delphine Pacific's character undergoes: the character of Dr. Claire Danning is really square and nerdy--in manner, appearance, and speech--a real dork. Yet she goes through a whole sexual turnaround after being infected by the spores. The funny thing is, however (as a reviewer above mentions) is that she's not wearing any kind of undergarments, and she is completely shaven below--the fungus unmasks her as a kinky hottie! I would recommend this film to those who like to see young hot women getting naked.

            2 out of 5 stars DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY.......2005-11-24

I bought this film and I was dissapointed. I mean, yes, the women are beautiful, but the film itself is a dud. I'd like to say this is a good R rated movie, but I can't; while the sex scenes aren't much beyond an R movie, the storyline sucks. Don't get me wrong, I think this movie has a lot of potential; an alien fungus that takes the form of women, (I'm glad they didn't have it attack men, because I don't want to see that) but that's where the good idea stops. This sex crazed alien starts having less than belivable sex with many men it goes by.
I think it should have more (and better) girl girl sex than the one feeling/rubbing scene it has.

I think the title of the review is the best way to put it.

4 out of 5 stars Better Than Average.......2004-08-27

During the opening credits one realizes that "Alien Files" is not really the title of this film. The real title has been edited over (I don't know if they were in conflict with a certain television series or a series of books from England). Two FBI agents have been brought in when a space mission returns from a tragic journey.

The astronauts encountered some space fungus and then were seduced by a shapechanging alien. Only one of the crew has managed to escape. But soon the agents find themselves chasing the alien across the country. They also learn a shocking secret about an earlier space mission.

Lots of sex fills out this erotic parody of a popular show. The story is good enough to stand separately from the sex and that is unusual. There si even mention of a coming sequel so if you like this one you might be able to see more. If you like erotic films with a good story backing it up you will probably like this one.

            1 out of 5 stars Don't Order This Version!.......2004-05-20

Don't make my mistake of ordering this version. The cover does not say whether it's R-rated or unrated, but it must have been heavily edited to take out all the good parts. I saw nothing but the back of the girls or quick, fuzzy glimpses of the front. Very frustrating & non-erotic. No comparison whatsoever to Femalien, Virtual Encounters, or Lolida 2000. Why would Amazon or MTI studio even want to sell this version thru internet is beyond me since it only hurts the sale & marketing of the unrated version. In any case, I'm glad I only paid $9.99 for it, but plan to ship it back to Amazon & ask for replacement in the unrated version. (By the way, the plots are silly & the acting is mechanical, but that's not what I'm complaining about.)

4 out of 5 stars Really good softcore, X-Files parody........2004-05-10

Alien Files is a fun, sex filled, softcore parody of the X-Files television series and movies like Species. It's the way the stories for all softcore should be done, because basically, it's just an entertaining vehicle for an almost non-stop parade of sex scenes and hot looking women taking of their clothes and pleasuring themselves.

A spaceship finds an unknown fungus while on a mission. The fungus is actually an alien life form in a dormant state. It infects a female member of the spaceship's crew. The alien subsists on human sexual pleasure, so it makes the female get really horny. She tears off all her clothes, smears alien fungus goo all over her body and brings herself to orgasm. The alien creates a duplicate of her body, where it runs wild on the ship, having sex with the rest of the crew and taking the form of a couple of the other female crew members along the way. When the spaceship lands back on earth, the alien escapes and two FBI agents must track it down for the rest of the movie. During all this, the alien has sex and changes female form several more times.

There are twelve sex scenes. Three are girl solo, one is girl/girl, and eight are boy/girl. However, a couple of those are pretty short and the girls keep their clothes on during the lesbian scene. The rest of the sex scenes are all good though. All the women are beautiful, with A list stars like Kira Reed, Blake Pickett, Kim Yates, and Gabriella Hall. The sounds of the actors/actresses are all audible over the music.

            This is easy to recommend.

1 out of 5 stars ufo buff exploitation film award winner!.......2005-08-17

I bought the two dvd set. There is only 45 seconds of ufo footage seen on disc one. None on disc two. There are a few minutes of distinguished ufologists Stanton Freidman and Dr. Richard Haines making comments but I am sure they did not know they were to be used in such a poor manner as this. Disc one even includes a supposed crashed disc some where in the former soviet union in the late sixties. The film and the acting look like the bogus alien autopsy film. Speaking of autopsy, there is an autopsy on one of the discs. I think disc one. Also staged, also phoney and there are so called black market merchants depicted selling "kgb ufo files".

The worst of them is disc two, A poor take off on the ancient astronaut hypothesis.
There are people with no names and credentials making comments
and offering fake testimony. I can only conclude they were actors with fake beards, mustaches and an actress whose parents who were "abducted". One "film expert" had nearly no russian acccent at all. I could go on and on but I have wasted enough time on these discs already. They lack any credibility.
The first disc starts out for about five minutes looking like it might be a good film then it's all down hill and keeps going down hill through disc two.
Don't buy these discs new. Buy them used if at all and never buy anything from who ever did this trash ever again! I gave it one star because there is no ZERO star rating available!

1 out of 5 stars I was open minded but then the door slammed shut........2005-05-02

Disk 1 was interesting but as it progressed, you couldn't help but think this was just a bunch of crap that is only taking advantage of a possibly genuine phenomenon. The second disk just really insulted your intelligence. The acting of the so-called experts was terrible. The uncovered mummy traveler was hilarious. The image of those two extras taking off the top of the sarcophagus and the dry ice swirling was sidesplitting. Don't buy this movie if you want to explore the subject of extra-terrestrials.

1 out of 5 stars Russian Exploitation and Faked UFO Video = Dangerous Conmen.......2004-01-26

I watched this and I thought - "Wow, What a great documentary about UFOs". The UFO footage of a crashed saucer did look very real and very convincing. Even if it was all a hoax the documentary interviews with Russian scientists is still very good and is a very valuable lesson for us all. However when I learned the truth this production went from being the real thing, to being a Blair Witch Project with some real elements to being very dangerous filmmaking with some questionable exploitation of real people that is borderline criminal.

The filmmakers interviewed REAL Russian scientists but did not tell them that they where making this documentary. Then they re-arranged their interviews and edited them to suite their agenda. The Russian scientists believed that these people where authentic American filmmakers, but these guys where out to cheat, deceive and exploit. They even hired actors to play Russian scientists who did not exist. The books and newspaper clippings in this DVD do not exist either. Then the American filmmakers paid a bunch of local villagers peanuts to dress up as KGB agents for an advertisement they said they where making. That is the KGB UFO footage that headlines this DVD.

The Russian scientists in this DVD are all over the web and have condemned this DVD to the last. It was pure exploitation through and through.

Keep your bucks in your pockets. Don't support this gutter that is a sham in the fields of science, documentary filmmaking and UFOology.

1 out of 5 stars phoney, hokey and lame.......2003-10-15

Some years ago, FOX did good business with "Alien Autopsy" a disinfotainment show masquerading as a documentary. The whole time, the narrator maintained a disingenuous "look, we don't know whether this footage is real or a hoax, you be the judge" posture. Now, SciFi channel has followed suit, and even upped the ante with "Secret KGB UFO Files." I'm not sure whether the producers put out a call for anyone to submit any footage they could come up with, no questions asked, or whether they actually produced in their studios some of the clips we see. They look fishy, they smell fishy, and, well, you get the picture. I expected to see coverage of well-known, documented Soviet cases. Instead, we are shown supposed gun-camera footage that has somehow never appeared anywhere else (exclusive!), and which looks amazingly like cheap, computer-generated special effects of the kind that abound in SciFi channel's original programs. Three examples especially stand out for sheer audacity: one shows a cylindric object outpacing the aircraft it is filmed from, another shows a saucer dipping from high to low altitude through clouds in the distance behind a flying jet (with its shadow looking artfully drawn in for "realism" on one of the clouds), and yet another shows two unidentified objects merging into one. Over the years we have all seen many authentic UFO clips, we know what they look like. The footage in this show has an unmistakably phoney look to it. The only question is whether the producers themselves are the ones who hoaxed it, or whether they were just looking the other way, nudge nudge wink wink. This show seems to be a sad reflection of a contemporary viewing audience that doesn't care whether a documentary is authentic or imitation, and perhaps doesn't have the intelligence to recognize the difference. Isn't it hard enough to sort fact from fiction in a subject like this? Must we have counterfeit documentaries like this now also? Shame on you, SciFi, they should pull your licensing. For the most undiscriminating viewers only.

1 out of 5 stars Shocking truths, unethical film making, bad for UFO research.......2003-03-30

For entertainment value this documentary should get a ten. Full marks! For reality value it now earns a big 0 in more ways than one. This video, purports what it claims to be KGB footage of a crashed UFO. That is probably why you want to watch it right? Well that part of the video is wow! Again, full marks to the makers of this documentary for putting something like this together. I would highly recommend viewing this video, even if the Video was a hoax, but it turns out that there is much more going on that just this and this is what makes the story very sad.

The miserable truth is that much has been exposed since the videoýs release including what appears to be the exploitation of real people, real doctors and real investigators who thought they where participating in something else other than a KGB UFO video analysis. They had been duped and according to the very quick work of Russian investigator - Boris Shurinov - are quite annoyed at the way they have been treated by what they thought where serious American film makers. The newspapers that appear in this documentary are not Russian nor do they exist. Some of the Russian UFO researchers in this video are not real nor has anyone since located them. The books in the video written by these non-existent ýresearchersý do not exist in Russia. Further more there are Russians who worked on the production of an ýAmerican advertisementý which has since turned out to be this very same KGB UFO video. Where Blair Witch and Fargo get off is in the fact that these films starred actors and not real people who where paid to do a job and received the acclaim for their work. However there are real Russian professionals in this video who are totally 'boiling' at being abused for profit in this manner. It all goes to show the actual mind set of the documentary film makers who thought that if they did this video in Russia staring real Russians that no one would notice a thing. In my opinion this is why this documentary should be treated as a work of extreme prejudice. If you like exploitation material like ýBum Fightý, ýJerry Springerý or ýCannibal Holocaustý then this video is for you. If are interested in UFO footage then go elsewhere. There are plenty of other videos on the UFO phenomena that you will enjoy much more and are done by better film makers with much much higher ethical film making standards.

Roger Moore should have more sense than to present these film maker's garbage.
