Gremlins is a whee of a film (if you don't mind the occasional gross-out) from producer Steven Spielberg, writer Chris Columbus, and director Joe Dante. Zach Galligan is the young man whose inventor father (Hoyt Axton) gives him an odd Christmas present: a tiny, furry creature that comes with a set of rules: don't get him wet, don't feed him after midnight, and keep him away from direct sunlight. But Galligan breaks the first rule and the damp little critter pops out a dozen little offspring. Then the offspring break the second rule and, overnight, turn from cute furry guys to malevolent scaly guys with world domination on their mind. The only way to stop them: rule three. But it's an anxious (and extremely funny) battle to make it to daylight--and the bad gremlins find ways to multiply over and over. Great special effects and a gruesome sense of humor make this a wild (if occasionally dark and scary) ride. --Marshall Fine
Description
A man buys a Mogwai as a Christmas present for his son. The young boy is told to keep the pet away from water, out of the light and never to feed it after midnight. Inadvertently, the creature is dampened and almost instantly, produces half a dozen furry replicas of itself --which continue to multiply and turn the small town upside-down.

Those little creatures.......2007-05-21
Gremlins was part of a tradition of 80s horror movies that dealt with a campy action and some strange creature coming into people's otherwise ordinary lives and causing destruction. Steven Speilburg in his early career seemed to favor mainstream comic movies that had a slightly silly premise mixed in with action and some horror aspects, but kept it light and airy enough to appeal to children as well as adults. This was one of them, in keeping with his success from E.T.
Billy Peltzer is given an early Christmas gift from his father, who bought a curious creature called a mogwai from an ancient Chinese man's cherio shop. He is named Gizmo, and aside from being adorable and so cute you want to squeeze him all the time, there are some special rules for handling him. No bright lights, especially sunlight as it will kill him. Never get him wet, and never feed him after midnight. Naturally, these rules are going to be broken and disaster is going to strike.
When Billy accidentally gets him wet, five new mogwai are among them. Their antics are crafier, fouler, and sneekier than anything Gizmo attempted, as he is sweeter and good natured while these are the mean ones that sabatoge machines like they are famous for. Trouble is predicted ... And eventually they get Billy to feed them after midnight. Could it be more cheesy that he's watching Attack of the Pod People From Mars when he nods off to sleep, then wakes up the next day to find that the five are in cocoons? That night, they hatch, turn into horrible mosters, and wreck the town.
When they turn into the horrible green monsters, the movie takes another turn. They become ridiculous as well as destructive, turning it from a horror story into a somewhat silly chain of events. There is plenty of gross out as well, especially the Stripe's melting in the sunlight climax. It was a good time, a silly horror fantasy movie. And even after all these years, Gizmo is still so cute I want to squeeze him. :)
great balls of fire.......2007-05-19
For thoose of that grew up watching the criitters and ghoulies, and alien quadrioloies you will enjoy this 1984 classic movie of comedy, action, horror, and mild romance thrown in it. When billy peltzer breaks two of three world with his new pet a mowgi named Gizmo bought by his dad during a trip to china town. The town is over run with millions of gremlins running around killing people and causing millions of dollars in property damage. This movie was big hit even though it went dratically over budget cost about 11 million dollars to produce with all the puppetts, electronic, and occasional kyroptratics. Can billy make thing right before the town and all the people that occupy it are literally destroyed. If you like this see the sequel gremlins II there is also rumors go around on you tube and other websites that a gremlins three might be in production for release on dvd sometime later this years if there are now delays, cancellations or complications if it turns out to be true I will inform you when I find out the more precise release date.
critters with less gore.......2007-05-18
This movie was a smash hit when it came out in middle 0f 1984 and was a smash hit ranking fourth that month in book office sales. This movie is some what harder to find since this is the special edition and it has been out for several years. It was first released about five years ago back in mid 2002. Where it once took about 1 to 3 days to ship the average shipping time is know gone up to about 7 to ten days if you by a new version of this that's never been opened. I saw it way before it when I was young about ten on TNT. This movie had great praize but not without heavy negatice criticism and complaints. About 50% of the millions ofpeople who saw this thought that some parts of it were two intense, violent or gore for kids ages 6 to 12 which is about the age that pg movies are usually meant for. Do to several complanets about gremlins, temple of doom and other movies two months after it'ds reelease the rating system was redone and the the fourth rating of pg-13 was created but I don't think it was actually used the first time until 1986 when the little shop of horrros remake was done. When billy pelter get a new pet named Gizmo. The whole town goes toppsy turvey when he break two of the three rules for his pet. Came he save the town from the gremlins the evil copies of his friend Gizmo that just a mere drop of water can multiple expontentially. I also thought I'd inform you that the reason why they were able to do the sequel gremlins II was because between the writing of the original script the beginning of the shooting the movie was altered and changed. Onre major change was in the original script Gizmo ate the chicken and turned into stripe and Billy was forced to hunt him down and kill him to save the town from otter destruction. Not only that but Billy's mom and his dog barney were also killed in the original script. Billes mom head was sliced of and see died instanty. Barny was killed and devoured by the gremlins. If you like this see gremlins 2 the new batch also there have been rumors going around since maybe 2004 maybe earlier that warmer brothers or one of there revial companies maybe be working on a third installemen I remmember see a video on gogle through you tube website entitle gremlins 3 teaser II. I saw it about a week before I was dfue to fly down to austin in the process of being transfered to a new program for special need kids due to several complications with the program I was currently in. I belived the trailer said it was supposed to come out something later this year if the trailer was correct and not false advertising. The precise date has not been released yet. I am guessing some time between between may 8 and december 31, 2007 if the rumor is not a hoak or the film has not been delayed or cancelled. Can billy and gizmo save there home of Kingston falls before its wiped off the map forever find out in the thrilling conclusion.
Simply Great.......2007-03-12
It seems that just about every good movie, turns out some how to be connected with Steven Spielberg. Whether he produced it, directed it, or both. In this case, Spielberg was the executive producer of this timeless, borderline classic. Its moments of greatness, I believe are attributed to its clever, yet simple, portrayal of never before seen characters and there ability to make you laugh. Point in case, being the magui and their transformation into the "gremlins". Of course, everybody in the real world has heard of a "gremlin", but no one has ever seen one. This is what I thought was a clever "fairy tale" who's roots were never really explained, until now.
-Sir Josh
Tell me something, Billy. How come a cute little guy like this can turn into a thousand ugly monsters? .......2007-03-11
Zach Galligan plays Billy a young bank clerk, when his father (Hoyt Axton) brings him a some what unusual Christmas gift, a creature known as a mogwai which they name Gismo; his life changes dramatically. After a series of accidents Gismo multiply's and the cute furry offspring soon become little green beasts that terrorize the town, leaving Billy and his girlfriend (Phoebe Cates) to find a way to get rid of these gremlins, before everyone winds up dead.
Gremlins are infectiously funny and effortlessly entertaining with its blend of cutesy charm and comic book horror. The creatures themselves are excellently brought to life with some masterful puppetry and Joe Dante's direction really does the film justice.
This movie is crammed with memorable scenes, subtle parody and excellent, yet quite humorous horror.
Ok, here is the deal. I was at "Suncoast" the other day and this movie was just sitting on the shelf. Now, seeing that it was one of the greatest movies ever (and I didn't for some reason have it in my collection) I bought it. But come-on people, let's be honest. You know you have seen this movie. If you haven't, what planet do you live on? It's like E.T. Everyone has seen that too. So why exactly are you reading this review??? For the sure comedy right? I know. Do us both a favor and pop this in your DVD player, or for the real enthusiasts the VCR, and watch it.

Zach Galligan, the star of the first Gremlins, is back, along with Phoebe Cates, his girlfriend from the first film. They're both working in an ultramodern skyscraper owned by a Donald Trump clone (a hilarious John Glover). Galligan's furry little buddy is captured by a mad scientist, who not only helps it multiply, but invests the nasty, scaly offspring with intelligence and the ability to talk. (Watch for the one that has Tony Randall's voice.) What follows is imaginative mayhem that spoofs old movies, modern television, and the conveniences of postmodern technology. In some ways, the sequel is even more inventive and laughter-inducing than the original. --Marshall Fine
Description
Billy Peltzer and Kate Beringer move to New York City and meet up with their Mogwai friend, Gizmo, when a series of accidents creates a new generation of diverse gremlins. Billy, Kate, and Gizmo must once again use all their experience to prevent another catastrophe.
Customer Reviews:
My kids love this movie.......2007-06-27
I have a 3 & 6yr olds and they really like this movie. They request it over and over. They already have Gremlins 1 and this one is even funnier. It's not scary at all. The kids jump every now and then at the excitement of seeing the little monsters pop out but they know that they are not real and only make believe. You don't need to have seen Gremlins 1 to understand Gremlins 2. They are two different stories. This is a very old movie so there is not a lot of suspense and thrill. Just a nice little monster movie.
Those aweful little creatures.......2007-05-22
How and why did this movie ever get made? It was a ridiculous follow up to the destruction of Kingston Falls instead taking place in the Big Apple inside a skyscraper rather than a small town.
Billy Peltzer and his girlfriend have moved from their small town to New York, and are working at the same company within a skyscraper. Somehow Gizmo has returned to them, having escaped the clutches of the mad scientist lab in the basement of their same workplace. The story is exactly like the one before, except that the art direction team had a few more liberties and went further with the new cute mogwai, and even greater creativity with the monsterous gremlins. The plot was more overtly campy than the first one, without the slightest hit of a horror movie and just a bunch of screwball comedy antics. Gizmo is still cute, and I still want to squeeze him, but don't waste your time.
microwave!.......2007-05-19
This was the hillarious equeal to the original. After Gizmo owner played by Key Luke dies and the shop is turn down. He is captured by scentist and taken to clamp building in new york. Young bill happens to be work in the massive building. He free gizxmo all is fine until gizmo is hitting by a spray from the water fountain and the destcution starts all over again. Once again gizmo Billy and kate must destroy the new engetical altered gremlins including a spider gremlin a bat gremlin, a vegetable gremlin and a indstructable gremlin who's body get transformed into pure electricity. Milliuons of gremlins run a mock through the fifty flooars of the huge clamp center. Can billing prevent the destruction from the kingstoon falls incident from being reinacted. Find out in the thrilling conclusion. There has been talk on the iternet about a third movie but it has yet to be released that I am aware of it suppodely according to a trailer I saw on youtube is supposed to be released sometime this year if the release date has not been changed or postponed since the video was first posted on the internet.
Kitschy but cute.......2007-05-07
What a cute, kitschy movie! My son and I laughed and laughed (he is 9). Don't take it seriously, but enjoy the time.
Hilarious.......2007-03-08
This movie is not as serious as the first, but it will have you laughing through the whole thing.

I know. Australia's hottest children's band presents another full-length video that's bursting with great music, amusing antics, and a fanciful story. Two mischievous "Wiggly Gremlins" have singled out the Wiggles and their own "Network Wiggles" television studio for some serious mischief in Whoo Hoo! Wiggly Gremlins. When the big red car breaks down on the way to the studio, Jeff, Murray, Greg, and Anthony have to get out and push. Meanwhile, Captain Feathersword finds leading the preparations for broadcast at the television studio unduly difficult--and most perplexing. After a truly wacky day, the Gremlins are discovered and the Wiggles' world returns to "normal." Ten catchy songs like "Dressing Up" and "Lights, Camera, Action" punctuate the events of the day, and there are lots of fun antics, colorful sets, crazy costumes, and even a glimpse into some of the magical tricks of television. This presentation offers a nice blend of story and song and is sure to captivate children ages 1 to 7. --Tami Horiuchi

The Gremlins grow on you :-).......2007-01-17
Wiggly Gremlins was the 5th Wiggles DVD that we acquired and at first I was very disappointed. It seemd to me that the performance lacked heart; the Wiggles were running out of ideas. However, I should have consulted with my 23-month-old daughter before passing judgement: this DVD immediately became her favorite! It took me quite by surprise, as we had just purchased Wiggly Wiggly World the day before (ruling out the novelty factor), which I think is extrememly well produced. After having watched the Gremlins with my daughter for the umpteenth time, I have to say that I have grown to like it quite a bit: the songs are catchy, the plot is cute and sufficiently simple for a toddler to follow, and the performance of the Wiggles is good. I suppose the only thing that still bothers me is that Captain Feathersword blamed Wags for a decision he made himself. I hope my daughter won't catch it or our dog may become the designated scapegoat in our house :-)
Some great songs and decent extras.......2006-08-22
This is a very good selection of songs that are brought together by a little story concerning gremlins, who attempt to prevent the Wiggles from getting to the studio to put on their show. My son is twenty-eight months old now and has really enjoyed this DVD over the past eight months or so. Okay, I admit it! I like singing along with the songs as well. Absent a few notable exceptions, these are some of the best songs they have recorded. I cannot think of very many other children's acts that are genuinely entertaining for both parents and children; Sesame Street is one, albeit to a lesser degree than the Wiggles. The DVD also features an episode of "Network Wiggles" and a couple extra music videos, including "Go To Sleep, Jeff" (sung to Brahms' Lullaby). Playing this has worked like a charm to put my son to bed after he had spent the better part of an hour dancing to "Woo Hoo! Wiggly Gremlins!" I picked it up for $7.50, so I consider it a fantastic deal.
No Wiggles magic.......2005-12-22
We love the Wiggles at our house, but do not love this one. I have never been a fan of their Network Wiggles phase and this is that to the extreme. My toddler never got into the video.
The Wiggles - Wiggly Gremlins.......2005-05-12
This is a great DVD. Just because they made a TV series from this DVD doesn't mean it's a bad Wiggles collection of songs. In fact, this is one of my 3 childrens' favorite Wiggles DVDs and the fact that it inspired an entire season of their show on Disney Channel should tell people that the quality of the music. Some of the best tunes on the project includes the ever infectous:
Lights, Camera, Action!
Hats
Testing 1 2 3
Music Murray
Where's Jeff
Bit By Bit
Anthony's Workshop
Gulp Gulp
Vegetable Soup
I read a lot of adults moaning and griping about this DVD, but the kids still love it despite the whiney big people's grumping; that's where the true success of this project should be measured... in the hearts of the children.
Great Wiggles, especially for older tots.......2005-02-02
If you're looking to expand the age limit for your Wiggles fan, this one is a definite keeper. Filled with songs from their Disney show, "Lights, Camera, Action!", this DVD has the added addition of the gremlins running around causing havoc on the show. I didn't find them annoying at all, but just rather cute. It's fun for older toddlers to pick out the gremlins, where they are, and what they're doing besides just sitting there and absorbing whatever is going on. I think the Wiggles are trying to reach an older audience as well, which this DVD does quite effectively. I don't think it was meant for the younger set, ages below 4, because it does involve more interaction than just music, and the kids are asked quite frequently by the Wiggles where the gremins are and what they're doing. They're first asked what is going on and if the kids actually see something. It's an on-screen game of hide-n-seek for the viewer which makes it much more interactive than regular videos.
Captain Feathersword is back and takes over a good portion of the video in the beginning while we are all waiting for the Wiggles to come in. He's up to his usual antics, but they are magnified because of a gremlin causing problems with everything he tries to do. He's pretty funny but very engaging which makes the kids watch and try to figure out what he's doing.
When the Wiggles finally do arrive, they sing many of the songs on their regular TV show, which are very good, in our opinion. In "Gulp, Gulp. Drink Some Water," the cinematography needs improving - Anthony's left side of his head is cut off in many places and when they're singing another song, the Wiggles' eyes are not on the camera but they are looking up at something. It just makes you think the camera was supposed to be upward or something. Plus, Greg's vocals were not plugged in at the final production properly on some songs, which makes his mouth move at the wrong time in some places. Not much to worry about unless you're in the music biz like we are, but it is there nonetheless.
One highlight of this video is that the Wiggles are doing more dancing as in their previous years. Greg's adaptability as a musician comes out here as you see him cover up the others' mistakes at times in his dancing. Ever seen the video of "We're Dancing with Wags the Dog?" He covers up a huge mistake Anthony and Wags made in that one. I'm not sure why another reviewer didn't think Greg can dance - he is the best of all of them and covers up so many other mistakes all the time. When you know music, however, you see those things more than just if you watch it briefly. There's just more ability there than what we get to see on a normal basis with the Wiggles.
All-in-all, I really recommend this one. It's just a different format and more engaging for the older ones. As musicians, these guys are really something and I wonder what they would be doing if they weren't doing this. We sincerely appreciate them in our house - my little one is glued to the TV when this one comes on. It's a great find and a neat keepsake too. We plan on keeping all of our Wiggles items. They've made such a huge difference in our little one's life education-wise.

Wiggles Fan.......2007-01-10
My 2 1/2 year old son LOVES the Wiggles. I have had to add more and more Wiggles DVD's to our collection to keep ME from getting bored with the same old one over and over (and over and over!). Both of these are fun to watch and feature some of our favorite songs (no "Little Wiggles" or animated Wiggles which we don't really care for as much). My husband and I are pretty big Wiggles fans too so we don't mind watching the DVD's along with our son - plus it can be good aerobic exercise too! :-)

Album Description
Soundtrack to 1984 blockbuster produced by Steven Spielberg. Features tracks from Peter Gabriel and Quarterflash.
Customer Reviews:
