Identical twins Philbert and Nathan were separated at birth. Nathan suffers from a severe case of multiple personality disorder and has spent his life in a lunatic asylum. Nathan shows up on his brother's doorstep and what begins as a case of mistaken identity spirals out of control with hilarious consequences.

The Marx brothers-like jokes in 'The Nutt House' show somewhat unsubtle and overdone, and theming them on a psychiatric issue is cheap and un-tasty. This movie's shots are flat and uninspiring, while no actor comes out distinctively enough to liven them up. Not even Traci Lords does.

The only trace of quality is to be found in this movie's story, telling us every nut can become president of the USA. The issue is worth a much better movie than shown here.
