The kings of corporal-punishment comedy are at their slaphappy best in these two shorts featuring Shemp Howard. For those who don't know, the most popular of the Stooges was Curly Howard, but he was forced to retire in 1947 due to a series of strokes. That's when Shemp rejoined the team. So if you're looking for Curly's "nyuk nyuk nyuk," you should check out the DVD of Curly Classics. For those of you who are still around, here's the scoop. In Sing a Song of Six Pants, the boys are tailors up to their eyeballs in debt to the Skin & Flint Company. But when a fugitive burglar leaves a suit with a safe combination in the pocket, they think they can collect the reward and their troubles are over. But of course they're only beginning. In Brideless Groom, Shemp has seven hours to get married if he wants to inherit $500,000. But who'd want to marry Shemp? You'll find out. Brideless Groom" (1947, 16 Minutes) To inherit a fortune, voice teacher Shemp must marry before six o'clock, but no girl will accept his proposal. Finally one of his repulsive students agrees to marry him, just in the nick of time. When the rest of the prospective brides hear about the inheritance, they show up at the ceremony and a free for all ensues. Shemp marries before the deadline, but wishes he was still a free man. "Disorder in the Court" (1936, 16 Minutes) Features Curly. The stooges are witnesses at a trial where their friend, a dancer at a nightclub where they are musicians, is accused of murder. The stooges manage to disrupt the proceedings but save the day when they discover the real murderer's identity. "Sing a Song of Six Pants" (1947, 17 Minutes) The stooges are tailors, and are heavily in debt to the Skin & Flint finance company. When the boys read about the big reward for a fugitive robber, they think it could be the answer to their problems. The bank robber conveniently ducks into their shop and leaves a suit with a safe combination. After his girl friend fails to retrieve it, the robber returns with gang and a wild fight ensues. The boys miss out on the reward but wind up with the crook's bankroll and can pay their creditors. "Malice in the Palace" (1949, 16 Minutes) Set in a desert land where the stooges run a restaurant, the boys set out to recover the stolen Rootin Tootin diamond after they learn from the thieves that the Emir of Shmo has absconded with the contraband jewel. They journey to the stronghold of Shmo where they disguise as Santa Clauses and scare the ruler into giving them the diamond. (Information provided by IMDb)

This is the same old four public domain titles that pop up everwhere.

They also appear on the SONY Three Stooges DVDs, restored form 35mm.

If you want cheap, you'll get what you pay for here. If you want quality buy the SONY DVDs.

Good info for stooges fans!.......2005-08-21

If your a stooges fan than this set will not disappoint.
While there are only the 4 shorts here that everyone has seen a million times there's a ton of other great info here to please you. There's the story on the stooges, all 6 of them, plus tons of other great stuff from their later years which can not really be found any where else. Sure some of the die hard stooge fans will say that some of the stuff is repeated on the other discs....so what! For the price your paying and for what your getting I feel this is a good set from the people at "Goodtimes Home Video". While the picture quality may not be the best, it's still okay as this is for us stooge fans to remember them!
If your wanting more stooge shorts than you'll have to wait until "Sony", yes they bought out "Columbia Pictures", releases more new shorts on the stooges, but in the mean time you can enjoy this set which is more history of our heroes!

These are two of the best that feature Shemp. I am a big Curly fan so I find that I don't care as much for Shemp. However, I could watch these two over and over. This DVD is a must for true Stooge fans.

"Full length feature"? Give me a break. The total of less than 45 minutes' viewing on this DVD makes it terrible value despite the cheap price. The episodes shown are moderately funny.
