Description

Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz live slaphappily ever after as newlyweds honeymooning in The Long, Long Trailer, breezily directed by Vincente Minnelli. They quickly find that the interior of a moving trailer is ideal for tossing a Caesar salad - and everything else. That backing up their 40-foot, three-ton home is only a little more difficult than threading a needle wearing boxing gloves. And that trailer-park folks are neighborly sorts who turn the lovebirds' rig into the wrong, wrong trailer by crashing the wedding night. Co-starring comedy pros Marjorie Main and Keenan Wynn (Ball's frequent co-star in her MGM days), this smash was filmed at the height of the I Love Lucy craze and is packed with the inventive sight gags and physical humor that made the series a TV landmark. If you like the Trailer, you're going to love the movie!

5 out of 5 stars The Long Long Trailer.......2007-05-21

I had seen this movie years ago. While doing some gardening , I was reminded of the movie by moving some large rocks. My sister-in-law and I decided we wanted to see it again. It was worth the search.

5 out of 5 stars Very Entertaining.......2007-05-17

I really enjoyed this movie as the humour in it was simple and I could relate to it really well. It was simple and the actors expressions easy to read. I enjoyed it and so did my young children.

5 out of 5 stars it was great!.......2007-05-08

I came right on time and it was sooo funny, the whole family enjoyed it.

4 out of 5 stars Formula for disaster!.......2007-05-08

Filmed while I Love Lucy was in its peak of popularity, The Long, Long Trailer was a forerunner of many vacation farces to come. How could you miss with the premise of a huge trailer being hauled across the country, especially if Lucille Ball is involved? It is slapstick situation comedy at its best, with memorable scene after memorable scene. You'll never be tempted to ride in a trailer while it's moving after seeing "Trailer". Watching Lucy cook for Ricky while they navigate winding roads should have nipped the whole RV movement in the bud. What's sad is that our own family's real RV experiences aren't much better than what Lucy and Ricky endured. This is an excellent DVD to take along to watch on a vacation. Team it up with National Lampoon's Summer Vacation.

5 out of 5 stars excellent classic comedy.......2007-04-06

This is a great oldie that makes light of road trips, getting married/honeymoons, hauling something with a vehicle and collecting momentos. The experience is all too real for those who have traveled on self-planned trips or are do-it yourself types with regard to travel.

4 out of 5 stars Trailer Park Boys,,, the Movie.......2007-05-10

I like this movie as much as all of the 6 seasons and the Christmas specials. None of my friends seem to like these DVD's at all! I can't help it if they are all dummards. If they could smarten up like me I think they would depreciate all of them.

5 out of 5 stars A movie that must be watched after the series.......2007-04-05

I've been a huge fan of this show. I own all the seasons and have already watched the 6th season, i'm so what addicted to it. Now when showing this show/movie to my friends theres a couple of things i do first. I'll show them the first season and second season to have them get the jist of the show. Simply being the show is so diffrent from anything in america that it takes some getting used to. But after a while you will quickly begin to enjoy the show. I've never met anyone who watched the whole first season and be displeased. Afterwards they'll love the movie as dearly as i do. I have shown the movie to a few before they seen any of the show and had mixed reviews. But never has someone whose watched a little bit of the show not like the Movie. Overall the movie is great, everyone from the shows i back on except trinity. The girl who plays trinity is an awful actress however shes not in it too much. You'll really enjoy this show if you're a true Trailer Park Boys fan.

1 out of 5 stars one of the worst for the brain dead.......2007-04-02

don't know why this elementary level movie could be a hit in canada. guess they also got messy education problem. i've tried to watch this movie several times, but had to eject it out of the player every time after 10 or 20 minutes. this is a horrible trashy movie. bad acting, bad script, bad of everything. it's like watching a bunch of mentally retarded people decided to make a movie, unless you are also retarded, you simply could not understand why and how this could call a movie. i've thought before that mtv's 2 'jackass' movies were pointless enough, but after this one, i finally realized that the young generation nowadays really got some serious problems: they like install boomboxes in their pickup trucks blasting out nerve shattering noises than soothing music; they prefer cars without mufflers; they prefer meaningless stuff and consider them cool; they prefer body piercing with rings and beads on their eyebrows, tongues, navels, even on their private parts; tattooing all over their bodies; wearing slashed jeans ....on and on. what becomes of this world?

5 out of 5 stars Trailer Park Boys: The Movie.......2007-03-24

We love these guys glad we were able to get the movie. transaction was fast and product was as stated

4 out of 5 stars The right stuff.......2007-02-24

Fans will not be dissapointed, all your favorite characters are at it
again. The fun continues with this movie, the boys are out of prison
and need to get back to what they do best...
Even if you never saw the series, you should enjoy it if you dont mind
the swearing....but it fits the characters.

Besides making television history as the producers and stars of television's immensely popular I Love Lucy and The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour, Lucille Ball and her husband, Desi Arnaz, starred in three quite agreeable feature films. The Lucy & Desi Collection includes the trio, all in excellent shape, plus a handful of nifty special features of archival interest. Many fans of Arnaz and Ball have probably seen one or both of the movies the duo made in the 1950s, at the height of their TV success: the 1954 The Long, Long Trailer and Forever Darling. Each is a comically cautionary tale about the dangers to marriage from misunderstandings, miscommunication, and differing goals. But the real find in this box set is the 1940 Too Many Girls, an energetic, Rodgers and Hart musical--direct from Broadway, with three original cast members (Arnaz, Eddie Bracken, and Van Johnson) making their movie debuts--in which Arnaz and Ball actually met.

Too Many Girls stars Arnaz as a South American athlete tapped by Princeton's football team to join its squad. The one condition is that he remain undercover until the season begins, forcing him to forgo women. Half-mad from deprivation, he shrugs off Princeton's heavy hand and agrees to join three football buddies hired to secretly chaperone a wealthy man's willful daughter (Ball) to a small, co-ed college in New Mexico. There the boys join the school's football team and immediately make it a success; of course, they also pitch woo to some comely young ladies. The Rodgers and Hart score is enjoyable, with a couple of minor classics ("You're Nearer" and "I Didn't Know What Time It Was"). The best moment, however, is Arnaz and Ball's very first scene together in what would become a historical partnership: Arnaz fainting at the sight of Ball, the first girl he's seen in months.

The Long, Long Trailer, in gorgeous Technicolor and directed by Vincente Minnelli, is a somewhat allegorical tale of a newly married couple who invest in a 40-foot trailer as their first home--and immediately regret it. Well, at least Arnaz's character does; he's the one who has anxiety attacks over operating electric brakes while steering up and down one-lane, mountain roads. Sight gags are plentiful: a scene in which Ball tries to make beef stew, a Caesar salad, and cake in a wobbling, moving trailer is classic Lucy. But there are some genuine dramatic sequences in this handsome movie, too, and the stars rise to the occasion. Forever Darling concerns the marriage of a sensible if visionary chemist, Lorenzo (Arnaz), and a high society gal, Susan (Ball). The latter can't decide if she should concentrate on entertaining friends and keeping up appearances or joining her husband on a two-year field test of his bug-killing spray. James Mason stars as a handsome guardian angel attempting to steer Susan toward happiness. But along the path toward resolution, lots of mayhem ensues. A lengthy camping scene full of disaster will delight I Love Lucy fans. --Tom Keogh

5 out of 5 stars Can't get no better than this!.......2007-06-15

I originally bought this 3 DVD pack for 'The Long Long Trailer' as that was my favorite Lucy and Desi movie but then after I sat down and watched the other 2 films that you get with this I must say they are not as great but are fun to watch as well. It's well worth the price to pay for this boxset. 'Forever Darling' is the only movie which is in widescreen format the other 2 are in the original theatrical format of fullscreen. I do not like Fullscreen as I despise it but when I found out that the other 2 films were made in that resolution I didn't mind at all. So if you are doubting the fact to buy this or not do not pass it up. These are the only movies Lucy and Desi ever made together and its well worth buying it to own and watch over and over again for a laugh.

4 out of 5 stars Great on the laptop, not so great on the dvd player.......2007-04-23

The movies are great, but they don't play well in the DVD player... they're fine on my laptop, though~ so I guess it's not horrible. I still thoroughly enjoyed them all. :)

5 out of 5 stars Great for Movie Night!.......2007-03-06

What a bargain, so nice to have these movies in a bundle, makes for a great movie night with friends or family.

2 out of 5 stars Just buy them separately!.......2007-01-18

The Long, Long, Trailer is worth the money. But the other two, particularly Too Many Girls is really not worth it! The Forever Darling is just O.K.. Again, I would really rather have you save some money and by them individually.

3 out of 5 stars Great Collection but flaw in one of the DVDs.......2007-01-15

I bought this set for my mother for Christmas as she is a huge fan of Lucille Ball. She absolutely loves it but one of the DVDs, Too Many Girls, is screwed up. The voices are not matched up with the lip movements. It's fine I guess if you're just listening to it but a pain if you're trying to watch it. So if you're buying the set for that DVD, just watch out, I don't know if my copy was the only one with flaws.

In the early '60s, nomadic single mom Mrs. Flax (Cher) packs up her two daughters, Charlotte (Winona Ryder) and Kate (Christina Ricci), in a beat-up Chevy wagon and moves to small-town Massachusetts. Preteen Kate is obsessed with swimming, while 15-year-old Charlotte is searching for ways to rebel against her mom (and mom's flirty ways). The route she chooses is to become fascinated with Catholicism and all its arcane rituals, even though the family is Jewish. Her coming of age is handled with plenty of Wonder Years-style voiceovers as she fantasizes about Christ, the saints, the Pope, the Church--all things Catholic. Cracks in her religious armor begin to appear, though, in the form of a hunky local guy (Michael Schoeffling) who works at the convent. Meanwhile, her mom strikes up a romance with the town shoe-store proprietor, Lou (Bob Hoskins). Though Richard Benjamin's movie is a bit slow and tends to lose its focus somewhat in the last third, Mermaids also has fairly credible dialogue and surprisingly believable chemistry between Cher and Hoskins. The segments dealing with JFK's assassination are handled particularly well, and while Ricci's role is a rather small one, she's charming nonetheless. It's all too easy for coming-of-age movies to veer toward the maudlin, but thankfully this engaging comedy-drama seldom does. Cher, by the way, reprises her 1966 Sonny and Cher look, substituting a tight skirt and pumps for her turtleneck and fur vest. --Jerry Renshaw

Description

Cher is magical [and] electric (The Hollywood Reporter), Winona Ryder enchanting and funny (The New York Times) and Christina Ricci adorable and engaging (Variety) in this hilarious and heartwarming portrait of a 1960s single-parent family trying to adjust to each other'sgrowing independence. Charlotte (Ryder) is an adolescent girl torn between her blossoming passions for a handsome caretaker (Michael Schoeffling)...and her desire to be a nun (a tough calling for a girl who's Jewish). Complicating her already precarious teen angst is a little sister (Ricci), a determined would-be swimmer she affectionately calls fishhead, and their mother (Cher), a non-traditional, sexy, flamboyant woman who relocates them to a new town every time she causes a hint of scandalwhich is often. But even as their personal styles clash, these three incredibly different individuals begin to see that nothingnot even a life-threatening tragedycan tear apart the bonds of family.

5 out of 5 stars Another Moving Dance Scene.......2007-06-26

"Mermaids,"(1990) starring the well-known singer-actress-entertainer Cher, is another good romantic comedy that came along on the heels of the 1980s. The clarion-voiced Cher, of course, has been singing since the mid-60's, with her then-husband, Sonny Bono and without him, and has had many chart-topping hits; they had a widely popular television show in the 1970s. The actress won an Oscar for "Moonstruck," also made "Silkwood," "The Witches of Eastwood," and "Mask."

"Mermaids" is, without doubt, a chick flick. It was orignally meant to be the Scandinavian director Lasse Hallstrom's American film debut; however, Cher didn't care for his work. Neither did she care for Frank Oz's. So it was directed by former actor Richard Benjamin. Unfortunately, many sophisticates can't say "Richard Benjamin," without, in the same breath, declaring "tv sitcom." And when it's a chick flick too, well, the scorn.

The movie also stars the English Bob Hoskins, playing Lou Landsky, lusty, unlikely love interest to Cher's Mrs. Rachel Flax. The child Christina Ricci made her debut as Kate, Mrs. Flax's younger daughter, born to swim. Winona Ryder holds the camera as the older daughter, Charlotte, in heavy flirtation with Catholism although the Flaxes are Jewish. Ryder was then a child star, more particularly a teenage star, until Angelina Jolie stole "Girl Interrupted," out from under her, and she had her regrettable adventure in shoplifting. Oddly enough, the English teenage star Emily Lloyd had been signed to play this part, but she was blond. Cher, who evidently had a lot of say on this picture, thought viewers were unlikely to accept a blond as her screen daughter. So Ryder was brought in, and Lloyd received a studio settlement.

The picture's set in a lovingly recreated 1963, and treats the major world event of that year, the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, with considerable discretion and grace. Mrs. Flax is a hot-blooded single mother who gets herself into talked-about trouble with men, then moves on to the next randomly-selected town. Her daughters just must get in the car. We open with the Flaxes' relocation to a pretty Massachusetts coastal town, where Mrs. Flax and, this time, her older daughter, will meet men. Kate will win swim meets.

The cinematography gives us plenty of pretty. The soundtrack's chock-a-block with early 60's hits. Included on the soundtrack, for sure, is Cher's adaptation of "The Shoop Shoop Song," initially made a hit by Little Eva; now far better known as "It's In His Kiss," by Cher. The script's witty: in an often-quoted line, Flax dismisses one of her daughter's teachers as a guy who drives an Edsel. Does "Mermaids" have the heart of a sitcom? Well, it has heart, for sure-- it's really about family. And I don't watch tv sitcoms, can't abide them, but I love this movie. The final, touching scenes, where the Flaxes dance around their kitchen, setting the table to Jimmy Soul's irresistible "If You Want to be Happy the Rest of Your Life, Never Make a Pretty Woman Your Wife," perfectly express the relaxed intimacy, and joy, of family life, and present us another moving, off-handed movie dance scene.

5 out of 5 stars Great movie!!! .......2007-03-29

I absolutely love this movie! Such a cute one! I highly recommend it!

5 out of 5 stars It's in his kiss.......2007-01-14

Mermaids is another movie based on a book I haven't read. It stars Cher, Winona Ryder, and a very young Christina Ricci. Mrs. Flax (Cher) ups her family to the east coast to start all over again. She chooses where to move based on closing her eyes and pointing at a map. Reluctantly dragged along are her daughters Charlotte (Ryder) and Kate (Ricci). Charlotte is going through a very confusing time of her life - she wants to become a nun, even though her family isn't even Catholic. Instead she falls in love with a quiet, much older handyman who works at the church. The movie is set in the early sixties and was a part of the fabric of my teenage years.

4 out of 5 stars Very good film.......2006-11-01

Love Cher's character, but Winona's is by far the best. She tries to be pure but gives in to her lust for a handsome young man. Christina R's character is adorable and interesting. All characters are deeply probed and the movie is a joy to watch.

5 out of 5 stars Great Movie*.......2006-01-11

5 out of 5 stars Garbage Art and Flawless Fools.......2007-04-18

Long before Survivor, Big Brother, and The Amazing Race, there was ... Cops. That's right. Officially the first reality television show to air on national television, "Cops" pandered to the prurient in all of us, the urge to see willful stupidity and irrational rage played out in all of its seamy, accidentally-comedic glory. "Cops," now 18 years old, still plays, eternally banking on society's fascination with train wrecks, especially when those trains are run by boozed, baked, and bewildered boobs. Well, move over "Cops." If you thought real-live redneck morons could make for arresting television (pun intended), take a look at what Mike Clattenburg has done with the wonderful world of make-believe.

A mockumentary of Canada's Sunnyvale Trailer Park and its hopelessly clueless citizens, "Trailer Park Boys" owes as much to Reiner's This Is Spinal Tap as it does to "Cops." Like "Spinal Tap," the show follows three short-sighted dopes around as they try to make sense of their lives, mend strained relationships among those they love, and -- of course -- try out any number of hair-brained (and mostly illegal) schemes to make money fast.

Bubbles is ostensibly the smartest (he quotes Aristotle and Plato ... with accuracy!) and most sensitive of the trio, a cat lover who gets caught up in the shenanigans if for no other reason than because he values loyalty over intelligence and friendship over freedom. Julian, a well-built man who is always seen in a black baby-t, is the only one of the three who harbors dreams beyond his small life in the trailer park. Rarely seen without a drink in hand, Julian is a smart man, but not smart enough to disengage himself from the chaotic orbit of Ricky, a truly crazy, dumb, dangerous, dumb, well-meaning, and just very, very dumb man.

If it weren't for the almost flawless acting, the show could very well be consider nothing more than a protracted and horribly foul-mouthed Three Stooges episode (with a little Jackass thrown in for flavor). However, with the exception of a few characters (Sam Losco, a former veterinarian, is the one that comes immediately to mind), the actors and actresses in this show are truly, and without exaggeration, dead-on in every scene. If it weren't for the ludicrous circumstances and the fact that the camera work steadily loses its shaky, documentary feel over the years, it would be very easy indeed to believe that these are real people. (Adding to the faux-autheticity, whenever the actors make live public appearances, they always remain steadfastly in character.)

Season One introduces us to the gentlemen, Ricky and Julian, as they are finishing up an eighteen month stint in jail. They return to their beloved trailer park, but immediately encounter resistance (and will for the rest of the seasons) in the form of the trailer park supervisor, Mr. Lahey, and his half-naked assistant, Randy. In addition, Ricky must deal with his dwindling relationship with Lucy (with whom he's fathered a daughter, Trinity), while Julian takes on the new trailer park hotshot, Cyrus. Somewhere in there a kindly old woman's dog eats some suspicious brownies, an undeniably white rapper -- J-Roc -- tries to earn money in the amateur adult video industry, and a robbery at a local grocery store goes horribly, hilariously wrong. The Second Season expands the characters, giving us a more thorough look at Bubbles (his affinity for felines and exactly how he makes his money), Cory and Trevor (lapdogs who are to Julian and Ricky what Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were to King Claudius), and Mr. Lahey and Randy (the nature of their symbiotic relationship is explored in disturbing detail).

If it sounds dirty, distasteful, stupid, and weird, it kinda is. But the nicely contained cosmos of the trailer park, the perfectly defined characters, the psychologically-sound ties that bind every person in the park together, and the (as I said before) amazing acting make this show not just hilarious, but also ground-breaking and brilliant. For most TV series, that would be high praise, but when you're talking about drugged-up, trash-talking Moe, Larry, and Curly, it's a recommendation of the highest order.

5 out of 5 stars MAYBE "SMALL PLANS, SMALLER BRAINS"?.......2007-03-12

Just when you think TV comedy is dead, something comes along to make you change your mind. Like the original "The Office", "Trailer Park Boys" shows up in mock reality style and there the similarities end. The first two seasons exhibit that sort of newness and surprise that makes for priceless entertainment. The story lines, characters and their interactions are almost hard to believe. What can you say about a show with a character named Ricky telling his best friend Julian "I love Lucy" after Lucy has made a pass at Julian? Or Bubbles making his living by restoring stolen shopping carts and, when facing jail time, asks the sincere and poignant question, "Who's gonna look after my kitties"? As preposterous as the people and the situations become, the lads hold it all together with flawless comic logic that usually ends in hilarious parodies of typical TV style, not unlike South Park's addiction to "I learned something today ..." closings. But of course, no-one has or ever will learn a thing. Unapologetically lovable and offensive adventures in love, friendship, gunfights, growing dope and getting drunk. If you haven't visited the Sunnyvale Trailer Park yet, get over there ASAP. And bring a few smokes.

5 out of 5 stars My Alternative Reality.......2007-02-03

I was hooked viewing the first episodes of the first season. I enthusiastically purchased seasons 2-4 and after viewing them I had to see the rest. It is a sublime recreation of the stuggling white anglo experience in North America. It is funny because it is manic, unpretentious, relatable and there but for the grace of God go I. It is fall-out-of-your-chair funny. It is a Middle Earth -like tale of 21st century North America populated with heroes and monsters. It is genuis if accidental or intentional. I am Julian!

5 out of 5 stars Funniest show period!.......2007-01-20

I can't believe some of the negative responses a few degenerates have given this show. You lose serious credibility when you give shout outs to Bevis and Butthead and Cheech and Chong. This show is hands down the funniest to come out in ages. The characters are ridiculously humorous (especially Ricky and Bubbles), and the subtleties of the show may be too much for some of these idiots to grasp. This show is a must see, and believe me, you can be educated and still enjoy the hilarious shenanigans that take place in this trailer park environment. "Who's the microphone assassin? from season 3 and "Conky" from season 4 are must sees. Give this show a chance, I'll guarantee that you'll be addicted, unless you have no sense of humor like a couple other retards that offered their opinions.

5 out of 5 stars Best Show EVER!!!!!.......2005-07-11

Was told about this show by a work collegue who said he nearly wet himself with laughter watching the show. Once my wife and i started watching we were hooked!!
As soon as the fourth season had finished we came on here and bought all the dvd's as you cannot get them in England as it is only shown on sky tv channel paramount. Then paramount repeated all 4 series again and we were hooked every night. It has just finished showing again and we are having withdrawl symptoms!! Our dvd's should be here soon and the sooner the better!! The best episodes were 'mans gotta eat' where randy returns to the streets as smokey to fund his cheeseburger habit, and 'propane, propane' where Mr. Layhey looses it and tries to kill ricky. Everybody should watch trailer park boys as it is so funny but it does take a few episodes to really get into it. We are busy converting everybody we know into TPB addicts and as soon as our dvd's get here we are locking all our friends in our front room and watching all of them on our 42' wide screen tv. No one is leaving until they are hooked too!!! BUY THEM ALL!!!

5 out of 5 stars A cornucopia of sleaze..........2006-02-26

During the golden age of films, prior to television, massive, palatial, ornately decorated theaters were constructed as going to the movies was often an event. After television came about, many of these theaters (which subsequently suffered from neglect as audiences dwindled), particularly those in the inner cities, began catering to different audiences, becoming what was known as grindhouse theaters, with those located on New York's 42nd Street probably being the most relatable examples. Grindhouses would specialize in showing the stuff you probably wouldn't take your mother to see, as the films were often extremely graphic, sleazy, contemptible, and schlocky in nature from both foreign and domestic distributors...blaxploitaion, sexploitation (hard and soft core), hixploitation, nunsploitation, violent chop socky features, Japanese monster films, European horror sleaze, gore, giallo (Italian thrillers), `mondo' style films, nudie cuties...these were many of the various genres popular prior to the subsequent disappearance of the grindhouse venues by the mid to late 1980s, as the areas these theaters were located in were populated by what was generally considered the underbelly of society, and became easy targets as city leaders sought to garner favor with their constituents by sweeping clean the `scum', so to speak...but I digress...

In this DVD release of 42nd Street Forever Volume 1, Synapse Films provides an excellent representation of the diversity of the material popular over the years in these palaces of sleaze, in the form of 47 trailers, which were often better, by the way, than the actual features. Here's a listing of the trailers you get for the price of admission;

The Flesh and Blood Show (1972)

There's just over two hours of material on this DVD, presented in 1.78:1 letterboxed, enhanced for 16X9 TVs, with obviously formatted from different aspect ratios. The Audio is Dolby Digital 2.0 mono. Both the picture and audio quality vary from trailer to trailer, but most are quite good.

5 out of 5 stars For Flipped-Out Film Fanatics.......2005-11-28

If you were too young to sit in a grindhouse movie theatre in Times Square back-in-the-day, (or too sensible), then you can recapture some of the seedy glory of times (square) gone by with this DVD in your own living room, with a much lower likelihood of a rat biting you or a drug addict puking on you.

You get a wide variety of trailers here in a wide variety of clas-SICK genres, from stomach-churning horror shows, to lead-blastin' action flix, to soft porn epics (no chillen, please! Adults only!) Great for throwing on at a party, as long as you have a bunch of sick individuals just like yourself partying down with you.

I could go into detail, mentioning all the great trailers like "They Call Her One Eye" and Fred Williamson's western "Boss N****r" But take it from me, this is a wild ride into a long-gone cinema wonderland.

There was a previous DVD with this title by Ban One Productions. That company has also assembled this DVD, but never fear if you have that earlier disc. There are only about 2-3 repeats on the whole show, so it's worth buying. Get it!

this is quite simply the most awesome collection of trailers you will come across. Every one is a solid piece of entertainment. Man, could they make trailers back in the Deuce days! I was particularly impressed that there are so many obscure movies I never even heard of. The trailers are grouped thematically and the various genres segue from one to another -- its kinda cool. Description

The greasiest movie of the year! Set in a separate storyline not related to the "Trailer Park Boys" Television show, but with the same lovable characters. The boys get arrested for robbing an ATM machine and spend 18 months in jail. When the get out, they decide to pull off "The Big Dirty" which is to steal a large amount of coins because they are untraceable and quit their life of crime forever.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Trailer Park Boys Movie got everything right.......2007-04-09

First off, that sounds like a good plan to make some money Hockey Town Dude. The Boys would be proud, you could make like 10-12 bucks a day from those Ebay Dicks. Not quite enough to keep you in hash, rum and chicken fingers but hey, what's stealin' for? Anyways, one of the charms of this TV show that made it such a popular cult favorite is the low-budget, handheld camera technique. Despite the big budget, hollywood production of the movie it still holds all of that Trailer Park Boys charm.

The Boys get oot of jail (kicked oot early, so Ricky can't play goal in the guards vs. inmates ball hockey tournament) and hatch a plan for The Big Dirty, one last heist that will allow them to retire. They're all set to steal vast quantities of change .. why change? Duh .. it's completely untraceable! As can be expected, things don't go 'exactly' as planned and our boys run into trouble with the law.

Another difference between this movie and the show is in the ending. At the center of every TPB plot is a similarly bizarre money-making scheme that goes awry. Of course, the movie is no different but the ending might be a little happier than hardcore TPB fans are accustomed to.

The movie is not canon with the show, you can see a list of a few differences between the movie and the show on wikipedia.

Filmed in beautiful Nova Scotia the cinematography is absolutely amazing. Sets include a trailer park and a prison, I know .. not so beautiful. But a nice, peaceful blue sky sat over many scenes that perfectly fit our Boys' usually frenetic action (I mean 'perfectly fit' in the way that their nice, serene theme music fits them perfectly). ;)

Overall, I thought the movie struck a good balance. TPB fans should enjoy it and first time viewers won't have to know the show to enjoy the movie.

5 out of 5 stars Too expensive!.......2007-04-06

I love the Trailer Park Boys! But here I am in the USA, waiting patiently for the friendly neighbors to the north to make this great comedy movie available outside of Canada, and it's $50??????? It sells on Amazon.ca for $27 CAD. I live in Detroit so I will just drive over the bridge for $2 and buy it in Windsor for that price! Anybody else want it? I could buy a bunch and sell them on eBay to you for way less than $50 USD.

    5 out of 5 stars Genius.......2007-05-27

Seasons 2, 3 and 4 are really the best of this show. It's starting to fizzle a little, but here in season 3 it is at full stride. The genius in this show is the script. So well crafted. The boys are at their most hilarious and heartbreaking in this season. I would recommend this and all seasons of TPB.

5 out of 5 stars Everybody Should take time to see this show.......2005-03-16

This is probly one of the funniest show ive seen and everybody should take some time to watch it.Ive been watching it from the begining and im from Victoriaville so i cant wait for season 5.

5 out of 5 stars Trailer Park Boys Rule!.......2005-01-01

It took me some time to catch on to this and when I first tried to watch it, thought to myself, "how lame", but then I gave the boys another chance.....I'm 45 years old, sat together with my 25 year old daughter who was already hooked on, watched a couple of episodes on HBO and alas...I was hooked. I am now living in the Middle East and bought the first two series before coming back out....on Friday nights I can sit here and watch the same episodes repeatedly, laughing harder and harder each time! Absolutely hilarious stuff....I only need to look at Bubbles and start laughing...and him on that go-cart...omg! too funny! love all the characters, Ricky going into that house and being attacked by "a killer kitten" Ha! Priceless......I hope the humor never ends...will definately be buying the latest season!

5 out of 5 stars Our Great Canadians.......2004-08-19

The Trailer Park boys have become major celebrities for a vast majority of Canadians. Their focus on comedy within a certain spectrum of social behaviour is absolutly hilarious! It is so well done that persons that resemble these characters whether it be their housing or personal, can associate and giggle at these boys' various antics! Even persons who don't consider themselves "trailer park" people, find something that can be identified with and giggle!

Bubbles has stealed the show with his well-scripted lines and knee-slapping ideas and well of course, let's not forget about Julien the "PIN UP BOY FOR THE PARK!"

Ricky and his continuous explosive behaviour, reminds all those that watch about that "street bully" that never seemed to have his head on straight!

Add the rest of the cast for flavour and you've got a full fledged hit on your hands.

Before they become too big, get out and buy them and be like the rest of us to experience their magic through humour and realism!

5 out of 5 stars The Peak of Canadian Comedy.......2004-04-23
