3 out of 5 stars Not Perfect but Still Good.......2007-04-15

This teaches some good basic techniques and the kids seem to enjoy it. By the time they become bored it's just about time to go off. I do have to encourage them to stick with it. My main complaint is that there are a few long pauses with nothing to do while the video shows pictures of trees or other nature objects and the instuctor talks about the beauty of trees, etc. It frustrates me, I've never seen an adult yoga video with so much down time, so it doesn't make sense to have that much free time for 3-6 year olds either.

5 out of 5 stars Exceptional!!!.......2007-03-22

I am a Health and Physical Education teacher at an elementary school. During the state testing week I show this video to my Pre K-5th grades. At one point I had at least 43 first graders in the gym and had to keep them quiet. I was amazed at how well they payed attention to this video and how quiet it kept them. The last part of the video they were absoutely quiet and laying on their backs. I had one second grader fall asleep. She said, "I was so relaxed and comfortable on the mat. I didn't want to get up." Even my "cool" 5th graders were enjoying it. I had many students ask me, "Are we doing Yoga again today?!"

The beginning of the video gets all of their silly energy out and by the second half they are ready to relax.

This is my favorite video to show the students. I recommend it!

3 out of 5 stars OK.......2007-03-12

I like these videos in general but my daughter likes volumes 1 & 2 better than this one. I thought the monkey head lice segment was a little wierd.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent for getting moving with your kids.......2007-01-03

Maybe the poses aren't all legit, but they are fun. The instructor is not irritatingly peppy, she's calm and happy, and it's a great departure from many kids' videos. I bought this after checking it from the library, and have since bought Yoga 123 from the same instructor. Highly recommend for kids 2-5years, and probably for kids a little older, too.

2 out of 5 stars Where's the yoga?.......2006-04-27

I was excited to find a way of introducing my 3 year old son to yoga and thought I had found the answer after reading the reviews of this DVD. However, there isn't much real yoga here. He tends to have a lot of excess energy and I was hoping that yoga would help him focus a little better (as much as possible for one his age), but there isn't a good flow to the poses and the "silly" part is just too silly. There is also too much down time between the poses. All this distracts him from learning the actual poses. He is very interested in learning about yoga, but this DVD just didn't capture his attention.

    Description

Picking up where the two previous Nunsense shows left off, NUNSENSE 3: The Jamboree finds Sister Amnesia (Emmy® winner Vicki Lawrence) on the road promoting her new country album, I Could've Gone to Nashville.

She is accompanied by some familiar faces along with two new characters: Father Virgil Manly Trott (aka Father Hollywood), a radio personality who happens to be Sister Mary Leo's older brother and Sister Mary Wilhelm, the superintendent of nursing at Mount St. Helen's. The big question - will Sister Amnesia be asked to perform at he pinnacle of country music stardom, the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville?

NUNSENSE 3: The Jamboree is filled with tongue-in-cheek parody, foot-stomping dances, heartfelt ballads and fast-paced comedy. Adding to the fun, Rue McClanahan (Nunsense, Nunsense II - The Sequel) returns as Mother Superior.

    Customer Reviews:

    2 out of 5 stars The Jamboree.......2006-01-16

I enjoy Vicki Lawrence, but the creators should have stuck to the orignal cast. The original Sister Mary Paul was very, very, funny. Sister Mary Regina's "cameo" appearance just wasn't enough. Though all the actors and actresses were great, they could never "fill the shoes" of the original cast. If you are a Nunsense fan, I don't advise purchasing "Jamboree", as it was a real disappointment, compared with Nunsense 1 and 2.

4 out of 5 stars great box set!.......2006-09-12

you i know that i love box sets and i love this childs play box set as well the only bad thing is that the 1st inst in it because its mgm,,but thats fine. these movie scared me when i was a boy but know watching it you can really find the dark humor in it. alot of people will dog this movie like Michael "Critical Writing" but what does he know, all the movies he likes all suck anyway,,because honestly how can a lord of the rings nerd talk trash about chucky.... but anyway this is a great buy if you like horror/dark comedies!

    5 out of 5 stars A Horror Movie Icon..........2006-04-23

It's been hard to write a review for the Child Play movies since I haven't seen one in a long time. I rented them from Blockbusters and watched them. I thought they were extremely good, but I did think that the 3rd Child Play was sort of dumb. My favorite of this set has to be Bride of Chucky. I just found it hilarious.

4 out of 5 stars to answer the guy before me..........2006-03-20

ok to answer the guy below me who seems to think chucky is better than jason and michael myers..the reason people put chucky down he is to inconsistent in the value of the films..childs play ruled, childs play 2 was pretty good, and
then there isnt a good chucky until seed of chucky which is sub par... so to answer your question why do we put chucky down but hold jason and michael high...in short they kick ass chucky got soft..kk..im out buhbye

    3 out of 5 stars You Can't Keep A Good Guy Down.......2006-03-16

First off I was a lil disappointed that the first one wasn't in the box.. But I picked it up brand new for $5 so it wasn't that big of a deal. Child's Play 2 was fairly decent. 3 However... Well let's not go there. I haven't sat thru that one since I saw it in theaters.. I'll give it another watch eventually. Bride of Chucky wasn't a great movie but it was fun. Chucky and his comments make the movie worth watching. Jennifer Tilly's not bad either ;)

I want to know why people really feel the need to bash Chucky? I think he's better to watch than Michael Myers (Halloween), Pin Head (Hellraiser) & Jason Vorhees (Friday the 13th)

    Chucky = ratings.

    5 out of 5 stars Don't .... with the Chuck.......2005-10-05

I love Chuckie! He's such a great character that I never get tired of watching! This is a great collection with 3 great movies. In order from the best to worst: Child's Play 2, Bride of Chuckie, Child's Play 3. If a movie had a horrible plot, if you put Chuckie in it, I would be willing to watch it... Chuckie just adds this sort of funny yet scary and evil combination that adds humor and greatness to any movie. Whatever you do, just don't .... with the Chuck!

    Description

One of filmdom's most notorious killers is back to wreak more mayhem as Chucky continues his quest to possess the body of a human child. Eight years after seemingly destroying the killer doll, Andy Barclay (Justin Whalin) turns 16 and is placed in a military school. Meanwhile, the greedy president of Play Pals Toy Company decides to resurrect the popular Good Guys doll line, confident that all the bad publicity is forgotten. As the assembly line recreates the first doll from a mass of melted plastic, the spirit of Chucky returns to renew his quest and seek revenge on Andy. Once again it's up to Andy to stop the unrelenting killer in this fast-paced thriller.

5 out of 5 stars what is wrong with you people.......2007-05-05

I dont know what is wrong with you people this is the best out of all of the child play movies. i like it because chucky doesnt go to somebody house. do something bad and blaming it on someone and go after the kid no in the first two films he stad in the house running up and down the stairs. in this one his trying to get to people andy, and this kid at the school named tyler and chucky spent most of his time out side.and the way that he dies is so i didnt see that coming. and before i go check out bride of chucky its so funny. buy this movie you wont be dissapointed.

1 out of 5 stars less than zero.......2007-03-25

Agony beyond words. I don't blame Brad Dourif for appearing in this dreck, either; hey, it's a paycheck, right?
As far as the rest of the cast? Justin Whalen & the rest? I hope you have day jobs. Script was also unbelievably bad, all of it, the military academy as background, the no-talent, goofy cadets...I could go on. Why bother, though?
Came close to throwing things at the TV screen. Did the next best thing, returned the DVD to its case, then twisted the crap out of it...and tossed it in my waste basket--where it belongs.

3 out of 5 stars Chucky opts for a darker skin complexion via seven year old Tyler.......2006-08-11

Apparently, the writer of the three original Chucky films, Don Mancini, said somewhere that this one was his least favorite. The reasoning, or so it was stated -- Mancini was asked to begin writing a script for '3' before '2' was even finished filming. Therefore, Mancini was a bit milked already from exhausting what novel ideas he had for the first sequel, and they pretty much squeezed him dry for this installment.

But, 'Child's Play 3' doesn't earn points for creativity... I mean, almost never. And, yes, it may be the weakest link in the original trilogy. That being said, these 'negatives' never stand out when I rewatch this film. No sir. What stands out in my mind whenever I happen to catch Chucky 3 is how much better it is than a fan of the series could have ever expected. In that, though this isn't some sort of legendary horror film, it is one that comes to the table with a sense of seriousness and intent by all the crew working behind it, and the result is something that, at least to me, is probably better than 95% of #3's in any particular series -- and if secluded merely to the horror genre, that number must jump up even more.

Anyway, this is just surprisingly well done. The directing is commendable, and looking at the catalogue of Chucky 3's director now fifteen years later, it's interesting to see this one's gone on to make a few of the episodes for ABC's new hit series 'Lost'. Especially within the first half of the film, there are really a lot of spectacular scenes. The one that stood out most for me was when Andy first spots Chucky while doing drills on the field. Filmed almost entirely in slow-mo, we get to see Andy's first realization that Chucky is in fact back in his life... cut to doll being carried around with dead smile... cut to Andy losing his composure, baffling his gun amidst a trembling facial expression. OK fine -- it's not The Godfather -- but the point is I really believe these guys had done some studying, and were not just lazy film-school amateur's with a bucket of cash to pump out a sequel (which, given this one was created within such a short timespan of '2', would have seemed even more likey).

I won't zoom closer on any of the other formidable filmmaking elements in Chucky 3, except for the thing that, for my money, holds the film together despite other fine efforts. Like the kid who played Andy Barclay in the first two films, Justin Whalin (who plays a teenage Andy) is adept and believable -- again -- 'especially' given his age and the fact that this is a sequel to a horror film with a director who probably didn't have a lot of actor-influence. I'm now far beyond the reaching age of the film's intended audience (I.E. the bright children of Earth who: 1. Haven't learnt to dissociate themselves -- yet -- from their scariest imaginations and 2. Through whatever means have viewing access to a rated R psychotic doll movie). Point is this -- I saw all three of the Child's Play films when I was around 10, and each subsequent one (though out of order) seemed to throw more emotional trauma on top of the last. Sure, it was painful at the time, but had any of the three opted for a less than largely credible actor at the forefront, I don't think the overall impact would have been nearly the same.

OK so we get a lot of blood yet again, though truth be told the deaths aren't quite as memorable or clever as we've seen before. One in particular, involving a dump truck, is just downright sadistic (though it is Chucky, I regress....). An interesting element of comparison is also Chucky himself and how he looks and acts. For whatever reason, it has changed a little bit. Overall Chucky's face feels wider, more polished, and by the end of the film, wider and polished with big freaking Bugs Bunny teeth sticking out of his gawking mouth. It's a different look that is at times subtle and at times not, but it's been too long since I've seen the prior two films to really compare. Must say though there were definitely moments where I caught myself thinking "that don't look right." Narrative wise the story doesn't offer anything much (and the last fifteen minutes is pretty idiotic actually), but I did like the military school setting. If nothing else, it's a relatively distinct environment for a bunch of young kids and I am not terribly knowledgable on the subject, so by default I was interested in the location of the film. Naturally, I think it was also a good choice because it evaded the tendency for Chucky to go wild again amongst the (sub)urban areas.

Bottom line is that like many others I do tend to place this one at the bottom of the list within the trilogy, but for what it's worth I don't think any of them are head and shoulders above each other. They've all got their distinct style and tone and in my opinion we were lucky to have two sequels that showed passion and integrity on the filmmakers part's. Generally I think of myself as a fan of good film, and I don't doubt that most people would laugh at calling these films respectable or even impassioned. But personally, I just feel that way -- the people making these few little absurdist horror flicks really might have had some sort of collective, motivating energy from the projects and exerted that much more into them because of it. I mean hell, how else could this little trilogy here garnish such a cult following? I mean, you mention Chucky to most any American over 12 years old, and a killer doll pops immediately into mind. SOMETHING special happened with these films.

    5 out of 5 stars Don't F**k With Chuck.......2006-06-14

This film may be the weakest of the series, but it's still great! Andy Barclay is all growed up now (well 16) and has been sent to Military school. He's still haunted by his past, namely his 'Good Guy' doll Chucky.

Though Chucky can now swap bodies with someone new, this is a retread sequel. But none the less is good fun, mainly because of Chucky's mannerisms and one-liners.

Taking place at a Military school and a ghost-train type fairground ride, this film has a gothic feel to it. Not a lot of gore but then that's not what this series is about, but Chucky himself takes quite a kicking!

Kevin Yagher who usually oversees the puppet work, doesn't do it directly this time, and the film does suffer slightly because of this.

I don't really understand the criticism of this film. Yes it's the weakest of the series but if you think of the 'Elm Street', 'Friday The 13th', 'Halloween' and 'Texas Chainsaw' series, they all have some absolute abysmal sequels in there somewhere, whereas this film isn't even bad.

All-in-all a fun film, whether you're a Chucky fan or not.

5 out of 5 stars NOT THE BEST BUT WORTH IT!.......2006-06-07

5 out of 5 stars Great, great material for the guitarists!.......2007-05-02

Growing up hearing John Denver, his songs were more of a "guilty pleasure" because of the catch pop tunes on the radio. What I did not know until recently was what a tremendously gifted guitarist he was, as well as a talented vocalist and song writer.

Going beyond just "Country Roads", Denver's music is deep, complicated, and beautiful. Pete Huttlinger, an award winning fingerstyle guitarist, toured with Denver before his death. Pete is unabashadly a fan of John Denver and his love of John and the music comes through nicely on this DVD set.

Although not for the beginner, if you are an "advanced" beginner, you will be able to start with one or two of the simpler songs of John Denver, as Pete moves through them pretty quickly (you will be using the pause button judiciously!) you will be assisted by the enclosed guitar tab booklet. Taken slowly so as to learn properly, these are beautiful songs, presented humbly, but with a dry sense of humor that belongs to Huttlinger. From this DVD set, I learned how deep Denver's music ran, but it also introduced me to Huttlinger---and I went from there to purchase his other teaching DVDs (on Jim Croce, and on practicing guitar) as well as Pete's musical CDs (which ever acoustic guitar player will fall in love with...especially "Naked Pop" sold here at Amazon).

Homespun does a great job with clear camera angles of Pete's left and right hands, and the songs are broken down, little by little. These are like taking very expensive personal lessons, and the DVDs will take months to learn. I find this to be among the finest that Homespun has put out (along with the Songs of Bob Dylan by Happy Traum), and are not just fun to learn, but will make you a better guitarist as you work through them.

The Kisargi High girls' baseball team begins to take shape under the leadership of ace pitcher Ryo and star hitter Izumi, but the unseasoned players face an uphill battle. Ms. Himuro, the school chairman, challenges the sexist policies of the national baseball association, insisting they allow her team to compete. She tricks them into agreeing--if Kisargi can beat the prestigious Rinkai High boys' team. Coach Kido has the girls use their feminine wiles to derail the Rinkai players' concentration, but everything still rests on Ryo's pitching, and episode 13 ends on a cliffhanger. Rated 12 Up, but suitable for younger viewers; alcohol use. --Charles Solomon

          Description

In this volume, the all-girls baseball team - the Princesses - launch themselves into a grueling training schedule. But even with the strength of Ryo's pitching and Koharu's batting, the team's inexperience proves to be their Achilles Heel. As the critical first game arrives, their only hope may lie in Coach Kido's bag of tricks. Meanwhile, Keiko makes a second assault on the High School Baseball Association, only to be joined by an unexpected ally.

This series really captered me. Awsome drama and very funny. The voice acting is great and the music nice. The extras on the DVD are ok. The end of each episode and DVD just kills you to find out what happens next. For those really hardcorp anime fans, I recommened this series.
