One of DVD's most requested titles, WKRP in Cincinnati is a blast from the past and an absolutely golden oldie. But this first-season set is bound to cause static with fans who have eagerly anticipated its release. Because of pesky music rights, the songs don't remain the same. "Hot Blooded" is not playing when mild-mannered newsman Les Nessman (Richard Sanders) puts on a toupee in anticipation of an awards-dinner date with bombshell station receptionist Jennifer (Loni Anderson). It's "Beautiful Dreamer" and not "Fly Me to the Moon" that chimes when Jennifer's doorbell is sounded. Any number of generic songs have replaced the contemporary and classic rock so vital to WKRP, which is, after all, set at a radio station, albeit one that is best known for its farm reports. Enter Andy Travis (Gary Sandy), the new program director charged with turning the station around, beginning with changing the format to rock & roll. Andy, the series anchor, is something of the head guard at a nut farm. In seasons to come, he will wonder if he is one of the nuts, which include: "Big Man," Mr. Carlson (Gordon Jump), who is easily flustered, especially by his formidable mother, the station owner; polyester-clad sales director, Herb Tarleck (Frank Bonner), hopelessly old school and on the make for "Jenni-poo"; and morning DJ, Johnny Caravella (Howard Hesseman), a former "boss jock" now reduced to playing "You're Having My Baby" by the Hallelujah Tabernacle Choir. Also on staff is Bailey (Jan Smithers), Mary-Ann to Jennifer's Ginger, and who lacks the confidence to assert herself at the station; and Venus Flytrap (Tim Reid), whom Andy hires to be the nighttime DJ. It's a seamless ensemble of likable characters on par with The Mary Tyler Moore Show's WJM news team. WKRP is one of those rare series that hit its irresistible groove from the get-go. Hesseman sounds all the right notes as Johnny, reborn as Dr. Johnny Fever (ranked no. 73 on the Bravo "100 Greatest TV Characters" chart).
As the season unfolds, the hits just keep on comin', including the classic "Turkeys Away," about a Thanksgiving stunt that goes hilariously awry ("As God is my witness," Mr. Carlson insists, "I thought turkeys could fly"), the "Goodbye Johnny" two-parter in which the (briefly) departed Johnny's replacement is involved in payola (resulting in Mr. Carlson mistaking cocaine for foot powder), and "Never Leave Me, Lucille," in which Jennifer desperately tries to reunite Herb with his wife. Purists may balk at the replaced songs, but the sharp writing and performances provide WKRP's real music. --Donald Liebenson

In the words of Dr. Johnny Fever............2007-07-03
"Booger"!! I guess I'll write this DVD off. It doesn't sound worth while at all. What a shame.
WKRP - good even without the right music.......2007-07-03
This is still a great collection, even though the greedy record companies missed a chance for free advertising by asking exorbitant prices to use the original music. It's a shame, because the music of the era is a part of the show. However, the comic timing and great acting still make it a worthwhile purchase. If it had the original music, it would be 5 stars!
DO NOT BUY IT!!! WASTE OF MONEY. DISGUSTING........2007-07-03
I Love WKRP, but this is a waste of money. So many scenes are edited, you miss punchlines, you miss parts of storylines. Music is thrown right out the window, with elevator rock. You miss intro's to songs because they had to replace music. Listen, I love WKRP, but this was such a HUGE WASTE OF MONEY. They really screwed up with this one. I hope they realize this and fix it and get it out the right way. I hope that the sales sucked so bad that they either have no choice to do it right or they won't bother to release the other seasons. Why bother? If you are not going to do it right, don't do it at all. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. It is a joke how bad this is.
HOW???.......2007-06-28
HOW CAN YOU CALL THIS THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON WHEN SCENES ARE CUT AND MUSIC IS CHANGED?!?!? IT IS NOT THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON!!!!!!
Lack luster at best music.......2007-06-27
The music dubs are a shame. I would of hoped they would used music that actually is from the era. If the music is from the 70's and 80's, then it is the music of unknowns. Thank god the creativity and humor of the show shines thru.

Jump roping that's worlds away from anything seen on the local playground bursts from the screen in this Disney Original Movie about the clash between two athletes and their respective sports. Boxer Izzy Daniels (Corbin Bleu) has a hard time taking neighbor Mary's (Keke Palmer) devotion to jump roping seriously, but as Izzy trains relentlessly to maintain his undefeated status and win the Golden Glove, Mary's team practices just as intensely for the city Double Dutch finals. Izzy gains a reluctant respect for Mary's sport when he accompanies his sister Karin (Kylee Russell) to a competition, but it takes some serious convincing to persuade him to fill in for a teammate who's abandon the team on the cusp of city finals. Izzy quickly discovers that Double Dutch is more demanding and rewarding than he'd ever imagined, but when the entire school finds out about his newest sporting exploit, he's taunted into quitting. As Izzy tries to regain his boxing focus, he suddenly realizes that winning the Golden Glove is more his father's (David Reivers) dream than his own. After some serious soul-searching, Izzy decides that he can't let what others think keep him from doing what makes him happy. This action-packed Disney Channel Original Movie takes a unique look at the varied world of sports and features some great catchy new music from Corbin Bleu and Jordan Pruitt, but the game-winner is its focus on the importance of following one's heart. Customer Reviews:
Fast Food for the Soul.......2007-06-01
This DVD was a gift for my wife, who is one of the "Jump In" fans in this house. I don't have quite the enthusiasm for this movie that they do, which leads me to believe that it is something of a "chick flick."
A tight plot, engaging characters, and quick pace put this show several notches above "viewable."
I enjoyed the story of a boy learning how to deal with conflicting demands and responsibilities.
The jump-rope contest choreography is impressive, and helps make this DVD a good buy, although sports purists might question the fusion of jump-rope tricks and boxing in another scene.
Disney Studios seems to be re-discovering the bourgeois inhibitions that made it a global success, so those who require relevance, naughty words, and people with the self-control of an ADHD tomcat in their entertainment will be sorely disappointed in "Jump In." Aside from these deficiencies, this is a highly entertaining musical.
I love this dvd .......2007-05-19
This dvd is awesome and the bonus stuff is just great .
Another great family film starring Keke Palmer.......2007-05-17
I bought this because of child actor Keke Palmer appears in it and I was not disappointed. It's such a fun film with cute actors, lots of incredible double dutch scenes and a great tutorial offered in the special effects section. It's a must have!
OUTSTANDING.......2007-05-15
We are from South Africa, and the movie only came on our disney channel after we got the DVD, so my kids were pretty happ with themselves. It was a really nice movie, it was heartwarming, and i found it very touching. We even shed a few tears!!!My kids now want to do Double Dutch!!!
fun family movie.......2007-05-12
This movie won't win any oscars, but it's great for what it is, a great family film. It's so hard to find movies that all of my children (ages 2-10) will sit down and watch and that WE feel good about them watching. This is one of those movies. Made in the same mold as High School Musical, I hope Disney continues to pump out these type of movies. They're slightly cheesy, but a refreshing change from many movies marketed today for kids.

Best known today as the series that helped launch Johnny Depp to stardom, Stephen J. Cannell's 21 Jump Street was also one of the first hit programs for the fledgling Fox network, a status that lasted for most of its five-year run (1987-91), thanks to its engaging mix of youth culture and police drama. As outlined in the pilot, Depp's baby-faced Ofc. Tom Hanson is transferred to the special Jump Street division, a unit that utilized young cops to infiltrate juvenile crime. Unlike many of Fox's youth-oriented shows of the period (i.e., Beverly Hills 90210), Jump Street took its stories seriously, and addressed numerous social issues in its episodes; though some of the fashions and slang seem dated, the program remains entertaining decades later. The Jump Street set compiles all 13 episodes of the debut season, including the two-part pilot; the solid extras feature commentary by co-star Peter DeLuise, as well as interviews with fellow Jump Street officers Dustin Nguyen, Holly Robinson Peete, and Steven Williams (whose Captain Fuller replaced Frederic Forrest's Jenko halfway through the first season), as well as the prolific Cannell. --Paul Gaita
Description
It all begins here, as baby-faced rookie Officer Tom Hanson (Johnny Depp) is assigned to an elite squad of young undercover cops - Judy Hoffs (Holly Robinson Peete), Doug Penhall (Peter DeLuise) and Harry Truman Ioki (Dustin Nguyen) - to infiltrate high schools and fight crime. Frederic Forrest and Steven Williams co-star in this classic first season that also features such guest stars as Jason Priestley, Josh Brolin, David Paymer, Sherilyn Fenn and Blair Underwood in what became Fox's first runaway hit and remains one of the coolest cop shows in TV history! 21 JUMP STREET - SEASON ONE includes all 13 explosive episodes - including the rarely seen two-part premiere - and is now packed with extras that include all-new interviews with stars Holly Robinson Peete, Dustin Nguyen, Steven Williams and series co- creator Stephen J. Cannell and an exclusive audio commentary with star Peter DeLuise.

Please release ORIGINAL VERSIONS.......2007-07-04
I lOVED this show as a teenager when it was first on. I think I missed this first season with Capt. Jenko - so I was excited to see how it all started. I rented this series to see it and decide whether to buy it.
I'm embarrassed to admit that the show did have an effect on me -- we would talk about the show the next morning at school. The show was probably one of the first things I saw countering the general homophobic attitudes of the times.
I'm quite saddened to see that's it been (POORLY) dubbed (mouths moving -different words) - why can't we see the original?
I was thinking of buying the discs after watching them - but not if they're edited!
I wish companies would stop rushing to put out cheap edited copies of shows (see 3rd Rock) thinking we'll buy whatever they put out!
And now in reading the other reviews, if the original music is gone as others have said... I will definitely NOT buy this series - the show was about introducing artists- it's how I found REM and Sonic Youth ... there's one episode I barely remember but I remember the music from it more than anything else. The music often influenced me as much as the topics they covered. It would not be the same show without that.
Great Series!.......2007-03-09
To all the 21 Jumpstreet fans in the world, you got to get these series! I enjoy them so much! I am getting my son on the bandwagon. He was only a baby when this came out in 1987.
21? Nope! This is like 15 Jumpstreet..........2006-12-16
21? Nope! This is like 15 Jumpstreet... Only one start...Release the real thing and then we can talk about buying something...
Can't go wrong with Johnny.......2006-08-25
It's Johnny depp in his first staring role, he's young and gorgeous but its the 80's so the fashion was horrible and the story lines were preachy. Still worth watching just to see johnny bowl.

I received this very promptly and enjoyed watching this again as i used to watch it every week

Have U ever heard of a place call the Piedmont?.......2007-03-09
Season 2 tells you all about it! Awesome!
Different from the original.......2006-12-27
It's great that 21 Jump Street is finally out on DVD, but for some reason, they have changed the episodes. The background songs are different and some of the episodes have stuff cut out of them. I guess I'll just have to keep my copies of the show I taped off the tv when it originally aired.
Thumbs up!.......2006-08-31
Love this show! Too bad not still on the air-the problems this show uncovers are still out there! The actors are great-Johnny Depp is dreamy!
21 Jump Street - Season 2.......2006-02-24
What a hottie! This is where my favourite actor in the world, Johnny Depp, got his major start (aside from Nightmare on Elm Street of course!) and he stars with the great Peter De Louise! Take the time to sit and watch the whole series - it starts off a little slow but gets better!
Music issues aside, this is a good TV show on DVD.......2005-12-22
I bought season 2 soon after season 1. I liked season 2 better. The episodes are more consistant and more refined. It has been so long since I saw these on TV, I have forgotten the original music. The DVD music sucks and is almost the same through all the episodes. Don't but the Jumpstreet DVDs for the music.
If you liked the show when it was on the air, you should enjoy them on DVD. They hold up pretty well. If you want to see them for the first time, keep in mind they used to be better with original music and some episodes are dated.
What I enjoyed most were the memories the show brought back. Cutting my hair like Depp, wearing headbands made from old shirts, flight jackets, and thinking a guy could weigh 120 and still be tough!
Average customer rating:
- Thumbs up!
- Great Show but messed up with episodes' order

Thumbs up!.......2006-08-31
Best season of all! Johnny Depp is dreamy- but also a great actor which comes out in this season. Too bad show is off the air- problems this show deals with are still out there.
Great Show but messed up with episodes' order.......2006-06-29
This is just a great show as the 1st and 2nd season. Maybe it's Johnny Depp best performance in this serie, he looks different but grown up. The story line is grown up too, these cops doesn't go undercover in schools as often as before, but they have to face bigger cases on the streets. You can also live their private lives more than before, and see them in personal situation with family, friends and love. The only disappointing thing is that the episodes'order is inexact, I noticed it in the last dvd: the 2-part-episode "Loc'd out" (wich they renamed on the dvd sleeve as "Partners" and I don't understand why) is supposed to be the last one of the 3rd season; but after that, you can see another episode, "Next Victim", put on the dvd as the last one. This is a fault, as I can clearly remember that this season ends up with Hanson in jail and Ioki in Hospital, but you can see everything going on as usual and Ioki working without problems. People who can't remember the exact order of the story could be confused by this. Anyway, you should have it!
honest.......2005-09-16
This is my favorite Johnny Depp role. I dunno why but ... he's really good in this show. And the other actors are great too. Great plots. I love it. I still watch it faithfully.
Still a great show, but a few episodes are disappointing.......2005-09-13
I adore both the first and second season of Jump Street, so obviously I couldn't wait until this one came to DVD. Unfortunately, I'm not quite as impressed with this season.
I found there to be some problems with the third season of 21 Jump Street. Here are just couple of them:
1) Johnny Depp intensely disliked the show, and desperately wanted out of his contract. He was tired of being labeled as a teenage "heartthrob", and so he didn't put as much effort into his acting. He even offered to do a season free if Fox would let him out of his contract. Because of his lack of enthusiasm, Depp isn't included in this season nearly as much. However, there are a few episodes in which Depp reportedly expressed interest in the script, so he actually attempted (and succeeded) to give a brilliant performance.
2) Although there are a few that are decent, most of the episodes are somewhat boring and cheesy. One example of this would be the episode called "Woolly Bullies." It's about Penhall and some bully troubles he's having, and the rest of the episode includes flashbacks of each of the Jump Street members' childhood bully experiences. One good thing about this episode is the guest appearance by Peter DeLuise's father and brother. Another disappointing episode is "What About Love?" where Officer Hoffs discovers she's been sleeping with a married man. There is one scene where a sad song is playing while the screen is showing Judy walking around in slow motion looking sad...for a lengthy three minutes! It literally seems like they ran out of good material to use.
Despite these problems, there are a couple of extremely good episodes. "Hell Week" is an enjoyable episode about fraternities and hazing. One episode, in particular, is probably Johnny Depp's best performance of the entire show. It's called "Swallowed Alive". In this episode, Hanson and Penhall go undercover as inmates in a juvenile prison in order to find out how heroin is getting in the prison. After a bloody fight, Hanson becomes the "Hammer" (the guy in charge), while Penhall is shipped off to a psychiatric facility after being locked up in solitary confinement (because of his claustrophobia). Hanson is all alone, and he contemplates the fact that everyone he has busted in the past ends up in this prison, which he considers Hell. This episode is Depp's most emotional performance, and the story is intriguing and suspensful.
So, if it hadn't been for the couple of good episodes, I would have given this season 2 or 3 stars. It is still a marvelous show, and all the characters are thoroughly enjoyable, especially Penhall (who is hilarious, as usual) and Captain Fuller. If you enjoyed seasons 1 and 2, you will most likely find this one entertaining as well. I just found a few episodes to be a little uninspiring.
Best season in the series..........2005-09-12
I have been waiting for season 3 of 21 Jump Street for a very long time - this is by far the best season in the entire series. I was surprised to see another reviewer belittle this season to nothing at all. I would like to present several counter-arguments why this is the best season and not the worst:
First, while Johnny Depp is the lead actor on 21 Jump Street and he usually finds himself most often in the best episodes, he does not necessarily carry the show entirely by himself. Jump Street also consists of 3 other important cops: Penhall, Hoffs, and Ioki, plus captain Fuller. Additionally, the 3rd season adds a 4th cop, Booker, and makes Sal the custodian a more recurring role. You can see throughout seasons 1, 2, and more importantly season 3, that all the characters are part of the show and it's not just about Johnny Depp. In 'The Blue Flu', each character has a very small role independent of the other as the city's police force goes on strike in a failed bargaining attempt. On the other hand, there are several episodes in which one character carries the entire episode. For example, in 'The Dragon And The Angel', Ioki is the star as he infiltrates a Vietnamese gang. In 'The Currency We Trade' Penhall takes the lead role as he arrests an innocent journalist and ruins his career - both excellent episodes that do not rely on Johnny Depp. However, there is one episode, 'Swallowed Alive', where the 4 guy cops on Jump Street go undercover in a juvenile prison/school facility. At first, Ioki and Booker (as the 'Samurai Twins') and Penhall and Hanson (as the famous 'McQuaid Brothers') are all part of the episode. Suddenly, in the middle of the episode, you find everyone gone except for Hanson (Johnny Depp) who puts on a solo performance in what I would call one of the best episodes in the entire series. So I do not agree that Depp hated the show and wanted out. If he did want off the show, he would not have been able to put out such a stellar performance in 'Swallowed Alive'.
Second, Booker arrives in season 3 as the 5th Jump Street cop. I wouldn't say he was a replacement for Hanson, as they have nothing in common. Booker is a totally off-the-hook character, much like a modern James Dean. Hanson, on the other hand is the handsome and polite guy who can become a rebel at times, but sticks to his soft-hearted personality more often than not. I think Booker was brought on to add diversity to the storyline and more importantly, to prepare for the spin-off show with the same title. Why else was he not featured in the opening credits?
Third, the writing for each episode is *NOT* downright terrible! A new writer(s) took over the show in season 3 through the end of the series. While I was skeptical at first, I could hardly tell the difference in storyline quality. If anything, I would say that season 3 had more swearing and violence, but overall, more mature and intelligent themes. Just take the episode 'Hell Week' for example. This is probably my favorite episode in the series. Here we find the Jump Street investigating a rape in a prestigious college full of rich-boy frats. The entire segment featuring the actual "hell week" where initiations take place is so funny, intense, and exciting that I could watch it over and over a thousand times and still not be bored. The whole fork, spoon, knife test involving Ioki and Hanson is deserving of an award in my opinion.
One last comment on this season: 'High High' is another awesome episode that features all of the characters independently of one another. This time, we find Jump Street infiltrating a liberal arts school where everyone is unique, creative, and... into drugs! This episode feels more like a movie full of elaborate storylines and plot building throughout. It doesn't let go until the final credits roll.
With that said, I definately feel season 3 is one that isn't hurt by Depp's lesser role, but actually strenghtened by the overall excellent performance of all 7 characters.

Description
Comedy and screen legend Richard Pryor hits the comedy road in Moving, a good-time tale of a flustered suburbanite trying to relocate with his family from New Jersey to Idaho. Dave Thomas, Dana Carvey and Randy Quaid are among the comic ensemble in this movie that packs "a houseful of laughs" (V.A. Musetto, New York Post). Next, Pryor has a driving ambition in Greased Lightning, the decades-spanning true story of Wendell Scott, who cracked the all-white world of stock-car racing, built cars from junkyard parts, endured taunts, overcame setbacks and won NASCAR and Grand National crowns. "There's not a more likable movie currently on view," Time reviewer Richard Schickel wrote about this biopic that marks Pryor's first lead film role.

I bought this primarily for the movie, Greased Lightning. I was telling my kids about it and wanted them to see it.
DVD of Richard Pryor........2007-05-13
Great movie "Moving". I would recommend this movie for anyone. It actually is so clean that I would recommand older kids to see it. It was the best Richard ever made.
Richard Pryor's Funniest Movie.......2007-04-02
I have yet to see Greased Lightning, but Moving is Richard Pryor's funniest movie ever. I wanted this movie so bad on DVD I had to buy a bootleged version off Ebay! It's nice to see that you can finally purchase it legit. A must have for any comedy collection.
Richard Pryor's best comedy ever.......2007-01-20
I have been waiting for 'Moving' to come out on DVD for a long time. It is by far, one of the funniest comedies ever made. With Pryor, Dana Carvey and Randy Quaid you can't go wrong. Plus, you get a bonus movie of 'Greased Lighting.' What more could you asked for.
Classic movies.......2007-01-12
I purchased this movie just for "Greased Lightning". It is about the first man of color to race in Nascar. It was worth the price by itself and "Moving" was also a good movie but not as good as "Busting Loose" or some of his earlier films.

The fourth season of Fox's hip undercover cop phenomenon opens with Ioki (Dustin Nguyen) in the hospital and Hanson (Johnny Depp) in prison (falsely convicted of murder). The end of the premiere ("Draw the Line") brings good news for one of them when Penhall (Peter DeLuise) and Booker (Richard Greico) join forces, while the fate of the other looks promising. This is confirmed in the following episode ("Say It Ain't So, Pete"), but by then, Booker will have split the scene (to return for the Booker-Jump Street crossover, "Wheels & Deals").
Other notable episodes include "Eternal Flame," directed by Mario Van Peebles (Baadasssss!) and guest starring a longhaired Thomas Haden Church (Sideways). There's also "Come From the Shadows," in which Penhall marries a Salvadoran refugee to prevent her deportation (and adopts her nephew when he becomes orphaned), "Stand By Your Man," in which Hoffs (Holly Robinson Peete) is the victim of date rape, and "Mike's P.O.V." with a scruffy Donovan Leitch (Gas, Food Lodging) and preppy Vince Vaughn (Swingers).
The rap on the fourth year is that Depp started turning in lackluster performances when he couldn't get out of his contract. Fortunately, he doesn't sink the show, but it's clear his heart isn't in it anymore. On the bright side, 21 Jump Street remained as much a time capsule of the late-1980s as ever with music from the B-52s and Devo and references to Ghostbusters and Back to the Future. (Hoffs' surname was even taken from a notable 1980s figure: Susanna Hoffs of the Bangles.) Once Depp was set free, Fox pulled the plug on the program, which ran for a final season in syndication. In exchange for the Booker episode, this set deletes the season finale, "Blackout," which featured Depp's final appearance as Officer Tom Hanson. --Kathleen C. Fennessy
Customer Reviews:
Depp of the show.......2007-02-16
When at the end of third season,Harry Ioki was shot and Hansen was in jail. Season four starts off when season three left off. Dennis Booker and Doug Penhall try to get the guy who framed hansen and get him released-it seem almost like a 48 hours clone.
Depp tried to get out of his contract on jumpstreet to do movies, it did not happen. However his preformances on this season shows were less than stellar... and it shows.
There is a Booker spin-off with this season's episode (the 2 part Wheels & Deals) which set up a Booker spin off which lasted one season.
This was Jump street's last season, the fifth season was with out Nguyen and Depp). This was the shows winding down, there was good story lines with Holly Robinson and Peter DeLuise.
One of the best episodes in the futuristic clip show called Back from the Future. The highlight of this show is watching the cast in old age make up...trying to act 50 years older. Most of the makeup work look tacky. It is a cute clip show, directed bvy DeLuise, BUT Penhall as a priest..oh C'mon, someone make it more believeable!
This Jump Street season is the Jump the shark that TV shows are made of. BUT It is worth it? YES, as bad as it is at times, it better than most stuff out there today

johnny.................2007-01-10
This is a great series and is a must to have the fourth, plus you can't never get enough of johnny depp....
Good but not Great.......2006-08-21
This season turned in some good episodes, but nothing like the gems of Season Three, the best of the series in my opinion. Dissapointing that Grieco is on the box cover and not in many episode and also dissapointing that one of the best episodes of this season "Blackout" is being held hostage. I suppose, like one reviewer said, that it will come out on S5 which is bogus just so we'd buy that crappy last season. I think I'll pass.
Regardless, this was the beginning of the end for Depp but I think he still gave wonderful performances. (hard for him not to) I still can't believe the box covers and how Depp is clearly favored. Interesting. If you only want to spend money on one season, go for Season Three. With Depp in his prime; writing and stories top notch and the intro of Booker, plus steller episodes like 'Blinded by the Thousand Points of Light', 'Swallowed Alive' and 'Fun with Animals' you can't go wrong. This season is strictly for the fans, but even the fans got the shaft. Comes in for Silver, but not the Gold.
Complete but NOT UNCUT!.......2006-04-12
As much as I enjoyed season 4, I was extremely disappointed to find some scenes cut from the dvd. Actually scenes were also cut from the other 3. One episode in particular that really stood out was "Old Haunts in the New Age." There's a scene in this episode where Ioki, Penhall, and Hoffs hire a medium to channel the spirit of a man who's body was found in the basement of the chapel. While the medium invokes the spirit (pretends to), Hanson comes in and sits down. He listens to the farce and jumps up and pretends the spirit is coming thru him. Penhall remarks with amazement that Hanson's channeling Jim Morrison from The Doors. Afterward, Hanson sits down and tells the medium to give his coworkers back their money. In the dvd, You see Hanson come in, sit down, and tell the medium to return the money. The original scene that Johnny Depp performed was so excellent, it was memorable. It really aggravated me that it was cut from the dvd, as were other scenes in the whole dvd series. Yes! There were other scenes cut. This one stood out. I'm glad I taped the original series. Even though the scenes were cut, the show was still done very well. And the music. They made a mess out of that! They should have left the original music in. What they replaced it with was awful. It didn't fit the time period and you can tell. They should have left the music alone.
I've read in some of the reviews that Johnny Depp put in a lackluster performance in the 4th season because he wanted to leave the show. In spite of his desire to move on I found his performances to be no less stellar than the other seasons. I doubt very much if any actor of his caliber would jeopardize the potential to be offered other roles. If he hadn't moved on, we wouldn't be watching the films he's made since then. Regardless of the cut scenes and music changes, I'd recommend this dvd. The show was very well done.
One thing missing..........2006-04-01
As long as we continue to rave about Johnny Depp's performances here, I will add his exposition from the episode, "How I Saved the Senator". If anyone can carry the works of Charlie Chaplin or Buster Keaton, you know Depp has it covered. He did it in Benny and Joon, so why not in one of these episodes? In How I Saved the Senator, Depp tells his version of his heroism in hopes it would be made into a film. "Words...can't describe." he says as the story turns into an old silent film with Depp dressed in Chaplin costume. He's got the art of comedy and drama expressed in his eyes; without saying a word. It's awesome.
Ok, now the one thing that bothered me about the DVD is how a tiny part of one scene was cut out in "Old Haunts in the New Age". If anyone remembers this at all, the JumpStreet crew performs a seance in the chapel when they believed it was being haunted. When a spritual medium pretends to be possessed, Hansen also acts like his body was taken over by the soul of Jim Morrison. In this DVD, Morrison's monologue was completely cut. How disappointing. I bought this Season 4 thinking that I would be able to see that scene again. What a let down.
That's all, just wanted you to know.

"A DVD to Remember".......2007-06-18
This DVD has Pluto's Christmas Tree with those lovable chipmunks, Chip 'n' Dale. It also has Mickey's Christmas Carol which I remember watching every year on television growing up in the eighties. This DVD is worth it for those two alone. I have not seen The Small One. What would have made this perfect is if they would have also included the short where Donald is aggravated by his nephews and so a snow fight ensues (forget the actual name of the short). I remember they would air this one on tv as well right before Mickey's Christmas Carol to fill up the entire hour time slot. Still, this release is a must-have for anyone who grew up with these fond memories as a child. Just the music and singing in Mickey's Christmas Carol is enough to warm my heart.
I bought it for ONE reason only.......2007-02-28
I have two favorite Christmas Specials from when I was young - 1) How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the animated short, not the Jim Carrey movie) and 2) Mickey's Christmas Carol.
The Grinch is still shown (usually) each year, but it's been a number of years since I'd seen Mickey's Christmas Carol and I had to have it. Yes, it's the same old Dicken's story, but there are some CLASSIC moments (Goofy as Marley saying Scrooge will be visited by 3 ghosts but he's only holding up 2 fingers).
One of my favorite versions of the Dicken's classic.
I JUST LOVE IT.......2007-02-01
I HAD THE VHS VERSION, AND WE WATCH IT EVERY YEAR.
I LIKE THE THREE STORIES, BUT SMALL ONE IS MY FAVORITE
I WONDER WHEN CAN I FIND THIS DVD ON SPANISH.??
THIS DVD IS ALSO IN SPANISH?
Great Family Tradition.......2007-01-21
This is a family classic that will be come a true family favorite. Appropriate for all ages and especially great for those who cherish the holidays.
Vol.9 with Mickey's Christmas Carol! Loved It!!!!!!!!.......2007-01-19
I ordered this dvd for Mickey's Chritsmas Carol. It was just as I remembered it. This classic story in animated form with likable characters, hitting all the key points of the story.

Their Unforgettable Final Season Plus The Infamous `Blackout' Episode Starring Johnny Depp It was the show that became a top-rated Fox sensation, made Johnny Depp an overnight star, and remains one of the coolest cultural phenomena of the `80s. And it all leads here, the undercover cops of Jump Street Chapel - Doug Penhall (Peter DeLuise), Judy Hoffs (Holly Robinson Peete), Captain Fuller (Steven Williams) and new rookie officers Joey Penhall (Michael DeLuise) and Tony `Mac' McCann (Michael Bendetti) - are caught up in some of the most explosive action and drama in the show's history! The loss of Depp should have been a huge loss, but it really wasn't too bad. The storylines a very strong, Peter and Holly were just as important to the show, and Michael Bendetti was an excellent addition to the cast. Fox gave up on this show a bit too soon. If you're a Jump Street fan, buy it.
John Deep.......2007-01-10
A must buy if you like Johnny for he is an xtrodany actor as everyone knows and it has alot of other people that became famus as well and ther show has lots of people that where standins and are now very famus like johnny. a must too have too add too ones collections.
Still A Good Season.......2006-04-13
This season is very under-rated, I love this season just as much as the rest of my Jump Street dvds. Michael Bendetti and Michael DeLuise are a great edition to the cast.
GREED, GREED, GREED!!.......2006-04-12
What a blatantly sleazy way to get Depp fans to buy this last season. What a marketing strategy! They must think the buying public is stupid! In spite of the one episode "Blackout" that Hanson is in (from season 4), I tried to watch the rest of the shows, and it felt like so much was missing. Ioki was gone too, and it just wasn't the same. They should have just renamed the show as a spinoff. Nope. Just wasn't the same.

Wonderful, wonderful........2007-06-20
Roger Ebert once commented that Michael Caine never gives a bad performance. Neither does Gene Hackman and neither does Walter Matthau. This is one of his best. Medical humor always seems to work. Here it soars, with the help of Glenda Jackson, Richard Benjamin, and--in one of his most hilarious roles--Art Carney. The subplots are also well done. There's even a brief appearance by Matthau's real-life son.
This is the sort of movie you can watch again and again and the underlying story is sweet and loving, not cruel like The Odd Couple or long in the tooth like Grumpy Old Men. This is Matthau at the top of his rumpled powers, playing a skilled surgeon with notable human failings ripe for redemption.
Clean Romantic Comedy.......2007-01-10
Very enjoyable movie that we watch over and over. Nice music. From this movie we purchased the CD Moonlight Gambler/ Frankie Laine. We also purchased the Movie Hop Scotch on Dec 28 and have not received it as yet.
Light Tracy-Hepburn-Style Romp Takes Well-Aimed Jabs at Greedy Doctors.......2006-08-10
I remember seeing this 1978 comedy at one of the bargain matinees I took in when I was looking for a study break from my college courses. Walter Matthau and Glenda Jackson do some effective Tracy-Hepburn-style thrusting-and-parrying in this featherweight romp directed by the reliable Howard Zieff (he did "Private Benjamin") about a newly widowed doctor's aggressive re-entry into the dating game. It all breezes by quickly primarily thanks to the clever script by veteran screenwriter Julius J. Epstein ("Casablanca") along with Alan Mandel, Max Shulman and future director Charles Shyer.
Dr. Charley Nichols has just come back from Hawaii after his wife's death. Upon his return, he becomes aware that he is instant catnip to any and all the single women in LA. He works in a hospital run by an increasingly senile chief-of-staff, Amos Willoughby, whom Charley has to pacify to keep his residency. Enter Ann Atkinson, a transplanted Englishwoman who bakes cheesecakes for a living and has certain concrete opinions about the medical profession, which she expresses freely on a PBS talk show. Of course, Charley is on the show's discussion panel, and sparks, as they say, fly. This leads to the standard complications about how serious Charley is willing to become about Ann. At the same time, the hospital has to deal with a potential wrongful death lawsuit from the widow of a rich baseball team owner who died at the hospital under Willoughby's careless supervision.
It's just refreshing to see such a mature yet bracing love story between two characters inhabited by actors who deliver lines with the scalpel-wielding skill of surgeons. Matthau is his usual 1970's curmudgeonly swinger and quite a sight waddling with his gangly arms held akimbo in his power walk. Away from her heavy, award-winning Elizabethan roles, Jackson is crisply sardonic and charmingly vulnerable as the feisty Ann, who thinks all doctors should aspire to be Albert Schweitzer. Art Carney plays Willoughby with predictable bluster, while Richard Benjamin provides amiable support as Charley's colleague, Dr. Solomon. It's all very compact with a few nice jabs at the greed within the medical profession. There are no extras on the 2005 DVD.
Lighter Than Air, and What's Wrong With That?.......2005-12-20
In a career that featured a wealth of great comic performances, Walter Matthau gave few that were more delightful and relaxed than this one. In contrast to the wonderfully over-the-top style he displayed while winning an Oscar for "The Fortune Cookie" and being nominated for another in "The Sunshine Boys," Matthau employed a lighter but equally effective comic touch for this 1978 romantic comedy. He plays a widowed doctor who is over his grief and ready to sow some wild oats, only to find that he's fallen for a woman who wants nothing to do with his playboy ways. Glenda Jackson, who later left acting to join the British parliament, is a perfect match for Matthau's game, and the two trade barbs beautifully in a film that plays so leisurely that it's over before you know it. Look for superb supporting performances from Richard Benjamin as well as Art Carney as the dottering and caustic hospital administrator. He hams it up wonderfully in a part far removed from the nice guy he played in "The Honeymooners." This is one of those movies that looks like it was fun to make. It's definitely fun to watch.
House Calls.......2005-09-07
Delightful romantic comedy benefits from a top-notch script (by Max Shulman and Julius Epstein-co-writer of "Casablanca"!), and the unexpected chemistry between lovable schlump Matthau and starchy Jackson, who are both fabulous. Affirming once again that true love will triumph over casual sex, "Calls" is a charming, clever romance, with plenty of laughs and heart. Matthau fans should flock to this.
