The first time I watched it I was so busy laughing that it never registered even once.
The perfect antidote for (another) lackluster day at the office..........2007-05-21
That happy day when you finally graduate college and enter the workforce is upon you. You're eagerly anticipating putting your education to good use in an important, meaningful job; having an inspiring boss who will help you reach the full limits of your potential; mingling with interesting, supportive coworkers; and, of course, bringing home a big paycheck.
Get real. As the tagline for the hilarious "Office Space" so aptly puts it, "Work sucks." The live-action writing and directing debut of Mike Judge (creator of the "Beavis & Butthead" MTV series) is a hilarious tale of office doldrums that showcases what life is, sadly, often like in the workplace.
Ron Livingston (Mikey's friend Rob in "Swingers") plays down-on-his-luck Peter Gibbons, a 20-something who hates his job and is on the outs with his girlfriend. In a highly amusing opening sequence, Peter unsuccessfully battles some horrendous traffic on the way to work, and then arrives to his cubicle just in time to be lectured by his superiors for a tiny, inconsequential error he made.
It's a brutal day in the life of Peter, but unfortunately it's become the norm. However, when Peter goes to a counseling session with his girlfriend, an unexpected turn of events leads him to a new life philosophy: He doesn't give a s---. He disregards his boss' request that he work during the weekend, hangs up the phone on his (soon-to-be ex) girlfriend, and successfully asks out an attractive waitress he's had his eye on ("Friends'" Jennifer Aniston). Most significantly, he teams up with two of his coworkers, Samir (Ajay Naidu) and the unfortunately named Michael Bolton (David Herman), in a scam that will potentially screw the company out of thousands of dollars.
With the sharply written "Office Space," Mike Judge proves he's more than a one-note wonder by doing a superb job of capturing the malaise of the typical office environment. His most impressive directorial touch is an instantly classic scene in which Peter, Samir and Michael carry the office copying machine to a deserted field and literally kick the crap out of it. Shot in slo-mo and set to a gangsta rap tune, this scene is pure comic genius.
Livingston is a good comedic actor who has the talent to become a star in the mold of Matthew Broderick. He gets solid support from Naidu, Herman and Aniston (who deserves credit for taking a small role in this low-budget pic), as well as Gary Cole, who gives a top-notch performance as Peter's super-anal, monotone-voiced boss.
Whether you're a student looking for an amusing preview of what's in store for you on the job scene, or an unfortunate sap who's currently experiencing the hell of working in an office, you should get plenty of laughs from the excellent "Office Space."
Exactly as it happens in the office !!!!.......2007-05-14
Excellent performance of all actors. This movie is really similar to the regular life in the office. A lot of fun !!!
Office Space.......2007-05-12
This movie is a classic. A must see for all you 9-5 types!!!!
Funnyiest movie I'd never heard of.......2007-05-08
I must admit, I didn't know what to think when a friend recommended this to me, but I ended up enjoying this movie completly. It was hysterically funny, with some absolutely brilliant scenes which accurately describe life in any office, but particularly in the computer biz. Very witty and apt commentary on the things that go wrong with bad (or even average) leadership.

Sydney Pollack's 1985 multiple-Oscar winner is a sumptuous and emotionally satisfying film about the life of Danish writer Karen Blixen (Meryl Streep), better known as Isak Dinesen, who travels to Kenya to be with her German husband (Klaus Maria Brandauer) but falls for an English adventurer (Robert Redford). The film is slow in developing the relationship, but it is rich in beautiful images of Africa and in the romantic tone surrounding Blixen's gradual discovery of her life and voice. One downside: while we may all love Redford, he is as convincingly British as Kevin Costner is in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. --Tom Keogh
Description
The most acclaimed motion picture of 1985 stars Robert Redford and Meryl Streep in one of the screen's great epic romances. Directed by Oscar winner Sydney Pollack, Out of Africa is the fascinating true story of Karen Blixen, a strong-willed woman who, with her philandering husband (Klaus Maria Brandauer), runs a coffee plantation in Kenya, circa 1914. To her astonishment, she soon discovers herself falling in love with the land, its people and a mysterious white hunter (Redford). The masterfully crafted, breathtakingly produced story of love and loss earned Oscars for Best Picture, Director, Screenplay (based on material from another medium), Cinematography, Original Score, Art Direction (Set Decoration) and Sound.

Still My All-Time Favorite!.......2007-07-04
This true story's appeal is for all generations.A movie that intrigues and captivates as it tells of courage and perseverance while maintaining a tension of romance throughout. It is made of everything a great story should be.Meryl Streep and Robert Redford are the perfect actors for these roles.Immerse yourself!
A Favorite Film.......2007-06-09
This is one of my two favorite films of all time. The sweep and grandeur, along with the beautiful human elements makes this film a keeper!
Classic.......2007-06-08
This is one of the great classic films with wonderful actors, beautiful story and great photography. Love It
It Moved Me........2007-06-05
A masterpiece of cinematic beauty. This film is based on Danish writer Karen Blixen's(Isak Dinesen)years in Africa. One of the great performances of Meryl Streep, in a career of many great performances.
The story of a strong, yet very sensitive woman who follows her husband to Kenya to start a Coffee Plantation. His philandering ways soon leaves her with syphilis. Of course their relationship ends, and she is romanced by the Brit' Denys Finch Hatton, played by Robert Redford minus an ascent. One of the few often heard complaints during the film's release. But their chemistry still makes for one of the great screen romances ever.
1985's Best Motion Picture Academy Award winner, a year that saw many superb films. One of my other favorites that year was "The Color Purple", either one of which was worthy of the award in my book. Sydney Pollack also received the Best Director Academy Award for some of his most ingenius work. One of the most beautifully photographed films is magnificently transferred to DVD, though if you've never seen it on the big screen don't miss the opportunity should it ever arise. And John Barry's musical score makes for an even more breathtaking experience.
Some of Barry's Best Work.......2007-05-11
Everything it seems, has been said about this gorgeous film, except perhaps about the sound track. John Barry's work is outstanding and seems to enhance the move at its most powerful moments. The lasting impression I have more than two decades after the movie is the "Flight over Africa," when Denys takes his love up for a flight in his plane. I could watch - and listen - a million times and be enthralled every time.

Though it bears little resemblance to the original 1969 thriller starring Michael Caine, the 2003 remake of The Italian Job stands on its own as a caper comedy that's well above average. The title's a misnomer--this time it's actually a Los Angeles job--but the action's just as exciting as it propels a breezy tale of honor and dishonor among competing thieves. Inheriting Caine's role as ace heist-planner Charlie Croker, Mark Wahlberg plays straight-man to a well-cast team of accomplices, including Mos Def, Jason Statham, and scene-stealer Seth Green in a variation of the role originally played by Noel Coward. As the daughter of Croker's ill-fated mentor (Donald Sutherland), Charlize Theron is recruited to double-cross a double-crosser (Edward Norton in oily villain mode), and once again, speedily versatile Mini Coopers play a pivotal role in director F. Gary Gray's exhilarating car-chase climax. It's perhaps the greatest product placement in movie history, and just as fun the second time around. --Jeff Shannon

Good Cast-Good Movie, BRING ON THE SEQUEL!.......2007-06-15
The Italian Job brings to the screen the story of a group of thieves bent on revenge on one of their own who betrayed them by murdering their leader and running off with the gold.
Mark Wahlberg, Donald Sunderland, Edward Norton, Charlize Theron, Seth Green, and the rest of this AMAZING cast, have outdone themselves with their performances, which are commendable to say the least. All the actors, without exceptions, give it their 100% and it really shows! Very well written and very well presented, the movie is without a doubt guaranteed to provide more than just a few thrills, not to mention a few laughs.
The setting, the plot, the dialogues, the humor, and the music are all wonderful!
In short, The Italian Job is a movie definitely worth watching and one to seriously consider adding to your movie collection!
The Italian Review.......2007-06-03
I live right around the corner from a Mini Coop dealership and I'm an Italian-American, so I thought it fitting that I finally rented this movie. It's a remake of the 1969 original starring Michael Caine. Whereas that film took place in Italy, the remake stays there only for the introduction and then swiftly moves to California.
I love heist films. Like Ocean's Eleven or Heat, it's all about the cast. You can see a pattern in the characters:
THE WHEELMAN: This is the guy who mans the getaway vehicle, be it helicopter, jet, or car. Handsome Rob (Jason Statham, my favorite action hero) plays a decidedly scrappy, suave wheelman. This also happens to be almost the exact character from The Transporter. Hopefully, Statham will move beyond this type of character, but it's a testament to action tropes that he can actually be typecast as "the wheelman."
THE TECH: This guy is almost always a nerd and usually the comic relief. Lyle (Seth Green) nails this role and actually steals the show with his jokes. One ad-libbed sequence of Lyle mocking Handsome Rob is the funniest part of the movie. Of course, the challenge with this sort of character is that he needs to be able to pull off seemingly magical feats of technological wizardry without overshadowing the expertise involved. When Lyle manages to take control of the entire traffic system, you really have to wonder if he couldn't be better off striking out on his own. He's almost too good for the movie.
THE DEMOLITIONIST: The demolitionist's job is to blow things up. Sometimes he's a homicidal maniac, other times he's cool and collected. Left Ear (Mos Def) is a cool customer. And he doesn't like dogs. He gives Lyle competition for the funniest line in the movie:
Left Ear: This dude got dogs. I don't do dogs... I had a real bad experience, man.
Charlie Croker: What happened?
Left Ear: I had. A bad. Experience.
THE OLD MAN: You've seen this guy before. He's probably the former leader of the group. He's seen too much, been around the block too many times, and he knows his days are numbered. He just wants one last, big heist so he can retire forever. He almost always dies in the film. That pretty much sums up John Bridger (Donald Sutherland).
THE HOT CHICK: A recent invention, the hot chick's purpose is to keep men interested. She can have a variety of roles (tech, wheel-err-woman, demolitionist). Sometimes she has her own unique set of skills as safecracker. That's John's daughter, Stella (Charlize Theron), who competes admirably in the sea of testosterone.
THE LEADER: Handsome, smart, a safecracker himself, this guy is the one who pulls off a sneaky job right under the bad guys' noses. Unfortunately, Charlie Croker (Mark Wahlberg) is more narrator than anything else. He seems to have very little to do, and that's a shame, because Wahlberg's talented enough to do much more.
The villain is Steve (Edward Norton) a thief turned bad. He knows all of our protagonists' tricks, so he knows how to counter them. And since he stole the gold from the original Italian Job, he's the perfect foil. Norton plays him with just the right amount of shifty-eyed sleaze.
The Italian Job has lots of cool car chases, lots of near misses, and a lot of twists and turns (literally and figuratively) that make it a brisk, entertaining movie. You get quickly caught up in the machinations of the characters, which allows the film to get away with a lot of unbelievable nonsense. But who cares? From the funky flashbacks to the quippy asides, it's clear that Italian Job doesn't take itself too seriously.
Although it's more Job than Italian, the Italian Job is still a fun ride.
Great Caper Film.......2007-05-14
This is a good cast and a fun story, and what I really like about it is not everything they do works for them the first time, so it seems more realistic that way. There's suspense and action and great characters. Theron and Wahlberg play off each other well and are both great actors as is most of the cast. I highly recommend this if you are into the "root for the theif" type of movie. It's one of those movies where everyone's a bad guy and you get to root for the anti-hero. Oh and Edward Norton plays a great bad guy. You really love to hate this jerk.
Nothing unique, but loads of fun.
A F.I.N.E. Movie.......2007-03-14
The Italian Job was fun to watch. It was a good double-cross/revenge story that kept me thoroughly entertained all the way through.
Kudos to Director F. Gary Gray for making such a good feature film when his directorial resume mostly consists of rapper videos. Gray's other most recent notable feature films were 2005's flop sequel to the classic Get Shorty (1995) and 2003's A Man Apart (which I have not seen).
Storywise, The Italian Job really worked well. It had a good flow that kept you interested. There were way too many of the typical over the top Hollywood action film sequences that are just plain old unbelievable: cars driving down busy sidewalks at high speed; driving through a busy subway; people surviving sure-death situations; absolutely zero police response to what would realistically summon a cavalry of cops...these kinds of surreal action take a bit away from the movie.
The cast is pretty good, and the acting is very good. The story is familiar enough as it is popular throughout the history of film: A heist is made by a group of thieves/one of the crooks goes rogue/the group seeks revenge.
So if the genre is up your alley, then by all means The Italian Job should work for an evening of entertainment. And if you like it, you're in luck....A sequel has been announced for 2008 called The Brazilian Job with (mostly) the same cast and director (the most important aspects in a recipe for a successful sequel).
Let's hope in the sequel that Gray keeps a better handle on reality. I'm sure that it'll be F.I.N.E.
steadily satisfying entertainment.......2007-03-11
As a veteran action-flick fan, I found this film very satisfying on all fronts: the plot was believable and coherent, the bad guy was compellingly evil and arrogant; the technology was current and appropriate, the settings - specially Venice - were interesting, the female lead (Theron) was sexy and a nice mix of feminine, seductive, vengeful, and hard-nosed; the main and suppoorting characters were clearly-drawn, human, and interesting, the violence/action scenes were well spaced and paced, And the (classic) ending was predictable and still satisfying. I commend the writers, producer, and director for maintaining a steady level of "What's going to happen next?" suspense throughout the flick. Worth investing in, if you're an action fan!

Description
Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz live slaphappily ever after as newlyweds honeymooning in The Long, Long Trailer, breezily directed by Vincente Minnelli. They quickly find that the interior of a moving trailer is ideal for tossing a Caesar salad - and everything else. That backing up their 40-foot, three-ton home is only a little more difficult than threading a needle wearing boxing gloves. And that trailer-park folks are neighborly sorts who turn the lovebirds' rig into the wrong, wrong trailer by crashing the wedding night. Co-starring comedy pros Marjorie Main and Keenan Wynn (Ball's frequent co-star in her MGM days), this smash was filmed at the height of the I Love Lucy craze and is packed with the inventive sight gags and physical humor that made the series a TV landmark. If you like the Trailer, you're going to love the movie!

The Long Long Trailer.......2007-05-21
I had seen this movie years ago. While doing some gardening , I was reminded of the movie by moving some large rocks. My sister-in-law and I decided we wanted to see it again. It was worth the search.
Very Entertaining.......2007-05-17
I really enjoyed this movie as the humour in it was simple and I could relate to it really well. It was simple and the actors expressions easy to read. I enjoyed it and so did my young children.
it was great!.......2007-05-08
I came right on time and it was sooo funny, the whole family enjoyed it.
Formula for disaster!.......2007-05-08
Filmed while I Love Lucy was in its peak of popularity, The Long, Long Trailer was a forerunner of many vacation farces to come. How could you miss with the premise of a huge trailer being hauled across the country, especially if Lucille Ball is involved? It is slapstick situation comedy at its best, with memorable scene after memorable scene. You'll never be tempted to ride in a trailer while it's moving after seeing "Trailer". Watching Lucy cook for Ricky while they navigate winding roads should have nipped the whole RV movement in the bud. What's sad is that our own family's real RV experiences aren't much better than what Lucy and Ricky endured. This is an excellent DVD to take along to watch on a vacation. Team it up with National Lampoon's Summer Vacation.
excellent classic comedy.......2007-04-06
This is a great oldie that makes light of road trips, getting married/honeymoons, hauling something with a vehicle and collecting momentos. The experience is all too real for those who have traveled on self-planned trips or are do-it yourself types with regard to travel.

The bitter, vengeful world of waiting tables gets the Clerks treatment in Waiting.... A new employee (John Francis Daley, Freaks and Geeks) gets trained at Shenanigan's, a banal theme restaurant where the bored employees play a game of flaunting their genitals. The staff includes a snarky waiter (Ryan Reynolds, Van Wilder, The Amityville Horror) who lusts after the underage hostess; a waiter suffering from crippling pee-shyness (Robert Patrick Benedict, Threshold); an oracular dishwasher (Chi McBride, Roll Bounce); and a conflicted waiter named Dean (Justin Long, Dodgeball), who's just been offered a promotion to assistant manager--a job that offers more money, but threatens to trap him at Shenanigan's for the rest of his life. Waiting... is a loose shamble of a movie--the only thing resembling a story is Dean's life crisis--but that's part of its charm. It's a tricky thing to depict tedium without being tedious, but Waiting... pulls it off; some jokes smack of forced sitcom writing, but most of the humor feels genuine, as if it came from writer/director Rob McKittrick's personal experience. A future cult film. Also featuring Anna Faris (Lost in Translation), Luis Guzman (The Limey), and rabidly adored stand-up comic Dane Cook as..a cook. --Bret Fetzer
Description
A hilarious comedy about frustrated waiters, stingy tippers and dicey food, Lions Gate Films' WAITING... stars Ryan Reynolds, Anna Faris and Justin Long as young employees battling boredom at Shenanigan's, a generic chain restaurant. A waiter for four years since high school, Dean (Justin Long) has never questioned his job at Shenanigan's. But when he learns that Chett, a high school classmate, now has a lucrative career in electrical engineering, he's thrown into turmoil about his dead-end life. Dean's friend Monty (Ryan Reynolds) is in exactly the same boat, but he couldn't care less. More concerned with partying and getting laid, Monty is put in charge of training Mitch (John Francis Daley), a shy new employee. Over the course of one chaotic shift, Mitch gets to know the rest of Shenanigan's quirky staff: Monty's tough-talking ex-girlfriend, Serena (Anna Faris), Shenanigan's over-zealous manager, Dan (David Koechner), and head cook Raddimus (Luis Guzman), who's obsessed with a senseless staff-wide competition known only as "The Game"... Featuring crazy busboys, unsanitary kitchen antics, and lots of talk about sex, WAITING... is a hysterical, behind-the-scenes look at the restaurant industry, and an affectionate ode to those lost, and thoroughly unproductive, days of youth.

Another underated comedy from Ryan Reynolds.......2007-06-28
This movie is to restaurant workers as Super Troopers was to cops. A very funny movie. Much love to the goat!
WAY FUNNIER THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE! .......2007-06-13
It is always a good feeling to watch a movie that you think is not going to be that good and getting more than you bargained for! This movie is pretty damn funny and I laughed out loud many times watching it. Not much plot, just low brow humor at it's best! The DVD has a great transfer and some funny extras.
this movie is hilarious.......2007-04-20
this is a really funny movie. although the guy from the mac commercials is a tool, but he is the lame dude in all the funny movies lately, he sucks, but the rest of the movie sucks. oh yeah and dane cook blows too, i wouldnt of known he was the cook if my brother didnt tell me. but besides those two cakes, the movie is really funny worth buying a cheap copy of on amazon fo shizzle
Funny as hell.........2007-04-10
this movie is hilarious. i thought it was funny as hell. it was kind of disgusting. but funny. I really can't say more than what i did. see the movie man.
It's okay, more Dane Cook please!.......2007-03-08
This was an OK comedy. It could have been way better seeing as it had the benifit of comedic genius Dane Cook and the minds that brought us Van Wilder. If you have worked at a restaurant like Fridays or Applebees, it would probably be funnier, but it missed a mark and leaves the watcher unfulfilled. It'll pass teh time though. I suggest you rent this one.

The plan was flawless. The execution was perfect. Charlie Croker pulled off the crime of a lifetime. The one thing that, he didn't plan on was being double-crossed. Now he wants more than the job's payoff...he wants payback. Mark Wahlberg is electrifying as Croker in this "fast and furious action-adventure."* Along with a drop-dead gorgeous safecracker (Charlize Theron), Croker and his team take off to re-steal the loot and end up in a pulse-pounding, pedal-to-the-metal chase that careens up, down, above and below the streets of Los Angeles. With an ensemble all-star cast that also includes Edward Norton, Seth Green, Jason Statham, Mos Def, Franky G and Donald Sutherland, The Italian Job is "Hot!"

Mi first movie in HD.......2007-07-03
Hi, everybody i saw the movie with my girlfriend and it was perfect,
We love the story and the color of the minis stunning.
We recomended this movie by far.
Excellent movie.......2007-07-01
I love this movie and I really don't know why so many people are complaining about the quality of the transfer. I thought it was quite good. Not perfect, but good. Much better than the standard def DVD upscaled.
Great Movie, lousy transfer........2007-06-23
I have this movie on regular DVD and the quality far exceeds the Blu-ray version. As another reviewer wrote, I have so much noise and a line through the center of the screen, that the movie is not watchable. These things should be recalled.
Great Movie, Terrible Video Quality.......2007-06-17
Regular DVD in upscale player is better than Blu-ray. For some reason there are a significant amount of artifacts to the point of a distracting line in mid-screen. If you haven't trashed your regular/upscale DVD player, then buy the regular DVD and save some money. Don't get me wrong, the movie itself is fantastic...just the quality of its current Blu-ray version is sub-par. I'd return it, if I could.
Italian Job - Blu-Ray, Great Movie, poor quality video.......2007-06-02
I recently rented this movie from Netflix and I'm glad I didn't buy it due to the poor video quality. The picture is grainy at 1080P like others described especially at low light levels. When you spend the money upgrading to Blu-Ray, there is a certain expectation that the quality will be substantially better, and in this case it is awful. A pity since this is a great movie. Paramount, shame on you.

Adam Sandler vaulted into the $20-million-salary stratosphere with this, his second $100-million hit in 1998--a movie that further shows just how deeply embedded he is in the Jerry Lewis tradition of idiot comedy. He plays Bobby Boucher, a backwoods Cajun and a mentally challenged individual with a fixation on water: specifically, on serving the coolest, most refreshing H2O available to the college football team he has served since he was an adolescent. But when he's fired from his position, he takes up a similar job with a lowlier college team coached by neurotic Henry Winkler. One day at practice, Bobby loses his temper and delivers a bone-shaking tackle to the starting quarterback; before he can say, "blackened crawdads," he's the star of the team and leading it to a bowl game. But it's all against the wishes of his overprotective mother (Kathy Bates), who wants to keep her Bobby to herself--and that includes keeping him away from the floozy girlfriend (Fairuza Balk) who's sweet on him. There are two kinds of people in this world: People who find Sandler funny and people who view him as a neon-lit symbol of the decline of popular taste. You know who you are and, based on that, you can decide whether this is a movie for you. --Marshall Fine
Product Description
America's favorite wild and zany funnyman, Adam Sandler (50 FIRST DATES, MR. DEEDS, PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE), scores big laughs in a smash comedy hit where the laughs never run dry! Just an oddball mama's boy from the back bayous of Louisiana, Bobby Boucher (Sandler) never wanted anything more than to quench the thirst of the dehydrated athletes who treat him like dirt! But when Coach Klein (Henry Winkler -- HOLES, TV's HAPPY DAYS) makes the call that allows Bobby to finally stand up for himself, it unleashes a torrent of bottled-up frustration ... and exposes a talent for tackling that transforms him from a meek "water distribution engineer" into the hardest hitter ever to roam the gridiron! Also featuring award-winning Kathy Bates (ABOUT SCHMIDT, TITANIC, MISERY) and sexy Fairuza Balk (ALMOST FAMOUS, RETURN TO OZ) in a hilarious cast of stars -- here's your chance to join the millions everywhere who've proudly stood and cheered for The Waterboy! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Customer Reviews:
ONE OF SANDLERS BEST EXCELLENT CAST.......2007-03-27
I saw this film in theaters and thought it was OK. After waching it on DVD a few times over the years it has really grown on me. Henry Winkler, Jimmy Reed and Kathy Bates are hystrical. A classic sports comedy that blows away his lame remake of the Longest Yard!
A great girft.......2007-01-03
I ordered 2 of the Waterboy DVDs...one for a gift and one to keep. As always, we love the movie!
Boy, Are You Playin' the Foozeball?.......2006-11-16
I am not a big Adam Sandler fan. I find most of his movies to be a little bit on the boring side but for some bizarre reason, I absolutely love this movie. Maybe because it's just bizarre.
Adam Sandler plays Bobby Boucher (pronounced Bo-shay). He's not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer, he's in his thirties, he's a momma's boy, and he makes his career as being a professional water boy. Water is his life. Sandler created a very interesting character in Bobby Boucher.
He goes to work for the Louisiana Mud Dogs where the Coach, played by Henry Winkler discovers a "hidden talent" in Bobby. When Bobby gets angry, he has the strength of twenty men so the coach makes Bobby a defensive tackler with the Bobby's condition that nobody tell his momma.
In college Bobby learns that alligators are aggressive not because they "have all these teeth and no toothbrush" but because of the way their medulla oblongata is geared. He learns to have friends' outside of his momma. In other words, Bobby is growing up which is his momma's biggest fear because she is afraid that once he grows up, he won't need her, any more.
It's actually a very sweet movie. What I really liked about this movie were the visualization scenes. The Coach has Bobby visualize his opposition as people who have made him angry in the past. There is this one scene where he sees the whole offensive line with Henry Winklers head on their shoulders singing, "Water sucks...it really, really sucks..."
You have to see it...it's hysterical.
For the most part I review spiritual/metaphysical/philosophical books and movies, but I love films like this even though they may appear to have no "redeemable" aspects. Which is not true. I can find meaning and depth in everything. I'm not saying that The waterboy is a major philosophical triumph, but it does have meaning and depth even though it's primarily silly and highly bizarre...which is also good!
I love this movie and even though I do not own this DVD, I do watch it every time it's on television. It does generate some hardy laughs and I appreciate it just for that!
Peace & Blessings.
Forrest Gump with passive aggression.......2006-08-27
Waterboy is the story of a poor man's Forrest Gump who owes his dim-witted persona to the overprotective nature of his mother. Adam Sandler is at his silly, "stupid comedy" best playing Bobby Boucher, a Cajun recluse who has been a waterboy for one football team or another his entire life. After losing his job, he eventually catches on with another team where his life changes dramatically.
One day while perorming his waterboy duties, something he takes to ridiculously hilarious extremes, Bobby is abused by his new team. His precious water gets spit in, he gets tackled, and everyone of the players makes fun of him. With his old team, he had to endure the pain and ridicule without retaliation, but not with the new team.
A star is born.
Bobby eventually joins the team where he immediately, albeit inexplicably, becomes the starting linebacker. Despite his lack of football knowledge, he ends up becoming one of the greatest forces in college football history. He destroys everyone and everything on the opposing team, with highlight after highlight, using visualizations of all who have wronged him in the past to fuel his aggression.
Waterboy is highly enjoyable, with classic Sandler, and tons of either comedy or action to satisfy all needs. Henry Winkler is great in his role, bringing laughs whenever he's on-screen. Kathy Bates is great as the near-psychotic mother, a Col. Sanders lookalike who brings about easy comedy, and the cameos of Rob Schnieder and Clint Howard are subtle comedic genius.
I must warn all potential viewers. You may find yourself quoting several portions of the movie when finished, and quotes are FOR THE DEVIL!
Great Movie.......2006-08-06
This movie is top-notch hilarity, this is a must-own for Sandler fans or slapstick comedy fans. This movie is a classic in many ways and has a lot of firsts for later Sandler movies(like Rob Schnieder). A great movie, has almost non-stop laughs, I recommend it!

I love this movie, I had it on DVD and I got it on HD DVD recently. My only gripe is the quality of the video transfer. There is a lot of graining and artifact noise, especially on dark scenes. The blacks on the DVD version look better than the HD DVD version's blacks...

Who would expect a gimmick like a pair of magical pants to be the hook for such a smart, charming, and emotionally rich teen movie? Four close friends discover a pair of pants that fit them all perfectly, even though they're physically very different. Since all four are going in different directions for the summer, they pledge to each wear the pants for a week and then mail them to the next girl. In Greece, Lena (Alexis Bledel, Gilmore Girls) lands in the middle of a Romeo & Juliet family-feud romance; Carmen (America Ferrera, Real Women Have Curves) discovers that her estranged father is about to marry a blonde Southern belle; Bridget (newcomer Blake Lively) flirts with love at a Mexican soccer camp; and Tibby (Amber Tamblyn, Joan of Arcadia) stays home and gets a boring retail job to pay for her documentary film--but finds herself with an unwanted young assistant (Jenna Boyd, The Missing). These four stories manage to cover an amazing amount of ground (touching on race, body issues, divorce, mortality, and more) without resorting to stereotypes or easy resolutions. The engaging characters are brought to vivid life by these four talented actresses, who grab this excellent script and run with it. One of the best movies about teenage life in a long, long time. --Bret Fetzer

Customer Reviews:
sister hood of traveling pants.......2007-05-08
very good movie and price and shipping time the best
A well done movie.......2007-04-29
I haven't read the book yet so I have no pre-conceived notions except that there is a pair of pants. Someday I will read it and if it changes my view of the movie, then I'll update.
The movie was well done, great acting, scenery and directing. Each of the four girls was given enough development so that you feel as if you knew them and grew with them. They each had a situation that they had to grow through, yet they all kept connected together with the pants. None of them were perfect but they all supported each other, "warts" and all. It was overall pretty clean, very little language, no nudity and only one implied sex scene.
I appreciated the fact that the girls weren't bed hopping, and that the only one who had done something - had mixed feelings about it. In the end, the girls learned a little more about themselves - each taking a risk of their own. Their relationships together grows stronger through their struggles. It's the kind of group of friends that most of us long to have!
Very cute teenage girl movie........2007-03-26
I bought this for my niece as a birthday gift. She loves the books, so I took a shot. She liked the movie alot also. It's very sweet and covers very real issues.
Sisterhood For All Ages.......2007-03-20
I read the book first and that of course placed the 'visual' in my mind of how the movie would be. The movie didn't stay exactly true to the book, which was disappointing. The actresses were very good and I still look forward to the second movie, but it most likely will not follow the book since it's already off course. It's a fun movie for sisters - friends - mother & daughters of all ages. I would recommend adding this to your dvd collection.
Not as good as the book..........2007-02-20
I enjoyed this movie for the simple fact that it was based on the book. It was okay but I was disappointed that events were changed so dramatically. I just don't feel that it was necessary to change certain things.
