The five discs in Playhouse #1 include all of Pee-Wee's first- and second-season adventures (including two unaired episodes) with his puppet pals Chairry, Conky the Robot, and Pterry, as well as a host of offbeat human performers like the late Phil Hartman (who played Captain Carl and served as one of the show's writers), Laurence Fishburne (Cowboy Curtis), Natasha Lyonne (the precocious Opal), William (Blacula) Marshall as the King of Cartoons (Marshall replaced Gilbert Lewis, who reigned as the King from 1986-87), Shirley Stoler from The Honeymoon Killers as Mrs. Steve, and Law and Order's S. Epartha Merkerson as Reba the Mail Lady. Highlights include the first episode, "Ice Cream Soup," which introduces most of the Playhouse crew; "Playhouse in Outer Space," which teaches a sweet (if thoroughly cracked) lesson in friendship; and the frantic "Party," which culminates in a rousing game of Pin the Tail on the Globey. PW faithful, take note: the 1988 Christmas Special is not included here, but fret not--it's available as a separate disc. This set has no supplemental features. --Paul Gaita

Great shows for Pee-Wee fans!.......2007-07-03
If you were at all a fan of this Saturday morning "kids" show you will absolutely enjoy the second installment of episodes. Who can not get a smile on their face as Pee-Wee entertains Miss Yvonne, The King of Cartoons, Globely, Chairy and all the other characters from the show. It is a must have for Pee-Wee fans!
PeeWee....the first season is the best.......2007-04-06
If you like PeeWee's playhouse, get this set. I was only a little dissapointed though because the much of the cast changes between first and second season....ohh, and no more Giant Foil Ball after season one.....that bothers me. There is no mention that characters were dropped between seasons 1 and 2....they shoulda made some sort of crossover episode (the playhouse gets totally renovated....I guess that's supposed to be the crossover).
It's funny....unless you're a die-hard fan, I recommend just starting with box-set 1....there's only so much PeeWee I can take, and I love the show....don't know that I'll ever get around to watching box-set 2....at least, not this month.
Poor reproduction........2007-02-12
These CDs are poorly produced technically. The brightness ocillates from lighter to darker. This is probably some copy protection scheme, but it is a noticable degradation of the quality. I will probably return this set and try for better viewable copies off of tivo. Honestly purchased copies should be better, not worse quality, than broadcast. (PeeWee is great, however, even though the final shows are clearly running out of steam and jokes.)
Memories for parents.......2007-01-15
My husband and I recorded a few episodes when Pee-wee was on late at night recently. Our two year old LOVED watching. Not only was it great memories for us but she was also able to enjoy. Some kids show are just horrible to watch and you wind up watching them over and over again. Pee-wee is fun for all three of us. We bought both dvd's as a christmas gift and have enjoyed watching.
IT'S BACK TO THE "PLAYHOUSE" .......2006-12-17
Welcome back to the playhouse.Pee-wee's playhouse set #2 contains the remaining 22 episodes of the show from seasons 3-5.Six of the episodes were thought to be lost and never seen-before.The episodes are once again spread out over five disc's and come in individual thin cases with great artwork. This set contains the same excellent video and audio quality as set #1.This set completes the show and brings back all the fun of Saturday mornings gone by. Paul Reuben's has recently been doing the late night talk show circuit and say's a re-release of the show on dvd is in the works. He also say's the dvd delay is because he's been working on bringing back the Pee-wee character for the big screen.I hope the rumors are all true and I wait for the triumphant return of Pee-wee Herman.

What else need to be said.. It's Pee Wee!.......2007-02-07
This is a wonderful Christmas Special. Lot's of fun, lot's of memories from the Playhouse TV show. My kids have fallen in love with Pee Wee.
Pee Wee's Playhouse Christmas Special.......2007-01-09
Absolutely loved it. If you like Pee Wee, you will definitely love this. I bought it for my 14 yr. old daughter who discovered Pee Wee's Playhouse reruns this past summer. I loved Pee Wee's Playhouse when it was a new show, so I really enjoy re-watching them with my children. And there is nothing "bad" in it or objectionable,so my 11 yr old can watch it too. Its just good, wholesome fun, with a message in it also. It is definitely worth buying.
The Scariest Christmas Present.......2005-04-02
Has gotta be Grace Jones in a box. The best christmas special ever. David Bowie and Bing Crosby + Lame. Give me the Del Rubio Triplets any day. Features Phil Hartman - RIP Captain Karl.
Mmmmmmm!! CHRISTMASY!! HA HA!!.......2005-01-23
Christmas specials are usually so boring & formulaic, but not this one! It's as insanely & surreally hilarious as the Saturday morning TV show, but it also has a good message about selflessness (without being preachy about it), plus even acknowledging the celebration of Jesus' birth as the origin of Christmas! My favorite part is when Grace Jones (!!) sings "Little Drummer Boy" while at the playhouse (probably the strangest rendition of that song I've ever heard or seen!), when she was misdelivered there! (She was actually being mailed to the WHITE House -- I didn't know Reagan was into that kind of music!) Hilarious year-round viewing!!
A must have for any PeeWee Fan!.......2004-12-31
Not much to say that has not already been said. It is great fun to be able to share PeeWee with my kids now. My friends and I watched it all through college. The Christmas Special will now be one of our Holiday traditions to watch as a family! huh huh

A Fine Appetizer Before the Jeeves & Wooster Meal.......2007-03-20
I first saw this set when I finally decided to take the plunge to purchase the complete Jeeves & Wooster set. I haven't gone through all the episodes in the set, but from what I've seen so far (and I have seen episodes from all the DVDs), I feel that this set is, as I stated in my title, a fine appetizer to Jeeves & Wooster, pleasant sweetmeats before you gorge on the main meal. The episodes are structured in the typical 1/2 hr. sitcom style, with a laugh track & the production values are typical 1970s BBC, which is to say that the budget was probably calculated in pence. However, these episodes are faithful to the original stories & the fact that a husband & wife team does most of the main characters gives these episodes a charming amateur theater troupe vibe. Also, at least in the early episodes, you get the pleasant surprise of seeing P.G. Wodehouse himself doing the introductions. I do recommend this fine piece of televised British Rubbish (a term I use w/affection not malice) to Wodehouse fans as a supplement to Jeeves & Wooster.
very, very, very , very, very, very, dry English humor.......2007-03-17
These programs are unique. Unless you like reading Punch magazine you may not like them. Even if you liked Jeeves and Wooster you may not like these. They are very subtle satires of aspects of English culture that many people do not understand.
On another note, the two main acting people play the main parts in all of the programs. This may or may not have been the best casting decision.
The best of all Wodehouse television.......2006-12-06
The third major British Wodehouse television series consisted of twenty stories developed to half-hour form as Wodehouse Playhouse. Most of the source material were the Mulliner stories, with a few others of Golf and the Drones club. The series was broadcast in the United States over Public Television, and subsequently syndicated to many local PBS stations well into the 1980s, before finally appearing in home video in 2003.
The television screen naturally opened up new storytelling possibilities not available in prose. For instance, "Big Business" was able to use a recording of Paul Robeson singing "Ol' Man River" when Reginald Mulliner is supposed to have been sad enough to express it with the proper emotion, adding a new layer of comedy to what could only be hinted at in the original story. However, even when elaborating on the original, David Climie's scripts frequently used dialogue and scenes directly from the stories, and managed to create a near-seamless whole.
The first two series of Wodehouse Playhouse, of seven episodes in 1975, and another six in 1976, starred the husband-and-wife team of Pauline Collins and John Alderton, but the final series of seven episodes in 1978 featured only Alderton. Some in the British audience quibbled with the casting as reflecting the wrong accents and class sensibilities, but American audiences were oblivious to such details. There was overacting in many of the episodes, however, and Collins and especially Alderton played different types of roles, which, while commendable as an acting challenge, robbed the series of continuity in character types. His often secondary part outshined the ostensible romantic lead. While Collins's roles varied considerably, Alderton demonstrated the anthology nature of the original Wodehouse stories, with an infinite number of variations possible on the same basic character premise. (A 1981 series for Jackanory Unit Productions, Welcome to Wodehouse, presented Alderton's readings of five stories on minimally decorated sets.)
The individual episodes varied widely in quality, with the result that the series is better when blurred in memory than when reexamined episode by episode. The first series of Wodehouse Playhouse began with seven episodes in 1975, and the first two were disappointments. "The Truth about George," although amusing, had as its subject matter a stutter, a subject which evokes a certain discomfort today when used for humor. The second episode, "Romance at Droitgate Spa," was a complete mis-fire, predictable, tiresome, and unfunny. Only Raymond Huntley was appropriately cast, while the romantic lead was dreadful. However, by the third episode, "Portrait of a Disciplinarian," the writing and acting of the series began to convey the humor of the Wodehouse stories, both in dialogue and situations. "Unpleasantness at Bludleigh Court," "Rodney Fails to Qualify," and "A Voice From the Past" were all of an equal calibre; only "The Rise of Minna Nordstrom" demonstrates weaknesses. However, as whole, the first series failed to convey the wit of the stories, while sometimes capturing their hilarity and slapstick.
Alderton recalled that when presented with a list of the stories intended as the source, Wodehouse excused himself from the room to re-examine them. Laughs could be heard until he re-emerged, smiling, saying "Some of them are awfully good." Although he had been exhausted by the ordeal of the 90th birthday interviews, saying he never wanted to see a camera again, he liked Wodehouse Playhouse so much that he agreed to do brief introductions that were filmed in January. He had just received his knighthood with the New Year. All this provided a further toll on his constitution, and he checked into the hospital. On Valentine's Day, 1975, he died, age 93.
The second series of Wodehouse Playhouse, in 1976, replaced producer David Askey with Michael Mills, veteran of The World of Wooster and The World of Wodehouse a decade earlier. It was a wise decision, as the series quality notably improved. "Anselm Gets His Chance" gently tackles its subject, church formalities and piety, managing to be unobjectionable without losing any of the humor or pungence, as represented by ministers who constantly sprinkle their conversation with Biblical quotations, fully cited as to source. In "Mr. Potter Takes a Rest Cure," the madcap whirl gradually widens as beautiful but manipulative Bobbie Wickham, hoping to avoid a marriage her mother is encouraging, convinces Mr. Potter that Gandle is from a family with homicidal tendencies, while telling Gandle that Potter wants to commit suicide and must be prevented. It is slapstick, and unoriginal, but could not more accurately mirror the source.
By midpoint in the season, the series fully hit its stride, with such epsodes as "Feet of Clay," "The Nodder", and "The Code of the Mulliners." The series finally conveyed the wit of the Wodehouse dialogue, the satire of the character types (such as the self-advertising adventurer Captain Jack Fosdyke and the vampish female novelist in "Feet of Clay"). Most notably, the superlative "Strychnine in the Soup" reflects the humor, satire, and manipulation of genre formula and different character types from a range of narratives. A mistaken deduction leads to the romantic conclusion while the two explorers, potential in-laws, prove to be out of their depth in a drawing room whodunit. Running through "Strychnine in the Soup" is the predicament of the lovers, united by their love of the thriller, until finally its spell wins the mother's consent for the hero to marry her daughter.
The third series of Wodehouse Playhouse, seven episodes produced in 1978 by Gareth Gwenlan, revealed Alderton's persona and the repertory casting had so evolved as to be ideal. Such episodes as "The Smile That Wins," "Tangled Hearts," and "The Luck of the Stiffhams," maintained the high standard of the second season. Even those that fail to quite match their quality, such as "Big Business," are still memorable. (That episode, particularly, uses a portion with Alderton in blackface, a situation that kept a later Jeeves and Wooster episode, "Kidnapped," from being broadcast in America.) They were uniformly well enacted, capturing the humorous nuances and situations, such as the advice-dispensing know-it-all in "Tangled Hearts" who must be humbled. On the other hand, "Trouble down at Tudsleigh" has a riotously amusing first half but sputters with the introduction of a child performer, who has much the same effect on the viewer as she is intended to have in the story and succeeds all too well in making performance and episode quickly annoying. Perhaps the pinnacle of the series was "The Editor Regrets," ideally adapted, perfectly enacted, with every pause, nuance, and line impeccably delivered. Only the Drones played by middle-aged actors was out of sync, but the situation of Bingo Little, editor of Wee Tots, the journal for the nursery, could not have been better brought to life.
The last dramatization, "Mulliner's Buck-u-Uppo," overcame the inherent narrative difficulty of visualizing a tonic that provides almost magical human strength and personal dominance, by combining a light balance between persuasive power with slow motion movements that resemble something out of the contemporary television series the Six Million Dollar Man. "Mulliner's Buck-u-Uppo" was a fitting end to an exploration of different ways of bringing various Wodehouse milieus to the screen in a range of stories, succeeding to different degrees but usually bringing his prose vividly to the screen.
Into the "Playhouse".......2004-09-26
P.G. Wodehouse wrote a staggering number of plays, short stories and novels over the course of his life. And while the stories about dim peer Bertie Wooster and his genius manservant Jeeves are the best known, the short films by husband-and-wife team Pauline Collins and John Alderton are enormous fun.
Among the kooky stories: Romance between a pair of ethereal young poets are threatened by a family curse -- which causes an urge to hunt animals. A stammering Mulliner struggles to overcome his "slight hesitance," so he can tell the girl he loves that he loves her. Mischievous Bobbie Wickham spins a web of lies to get rid of a dorky suitor. A young interior decorator finds that the only thing standing between him and his beloved is her very imposing mother... unless he can use her mystery novel against her, and several other stories of love, misunderstandings, and shooting elderly men with airguns.
If the author himself introduces each first-season episode, you can tell that it's a solid adaptation. And P.G. Wodehouse did introduce every episode from the first season -- with a big smile. Not only are the stories very funny, but also very faithful to the original stories.
The writing borders on gut-splittingly funny. "You will marry me, won't you?" "Yes of course I will, Mr... I'm sorry, I didn't catch the name." Not the mention the bloodthirsty poem that an enspelled animal lover writes: "When cares attack and life seems black/how sweet it is to pot a yak..." Yet despite all the absurdity, it's all done with a more or less straight face -- in Wodehouse's world, this is all perfectly normal.
Real-life couple John Alderton and Pauline Collins get to play different roles every episode -- golfers, peers, poets, magician's assistants, members of Parliament, interior decorators and other oddities. It's fun to see just how many roles they can manage, and for the most part they do a pretty good job. Some of the supporting actors aren't quite as good (the reincarnation lady is too hammy), but Collins and Alderton give it their all.
"Wodehouse Playhouse - the Complete Collection" is a good adaptation of Wodehouse's lesser-known stories, with Alderton and Collins giving each one a couple to root for. Solid comedy with an upper-class edge.

The Book of Pooh: Just Say Boo
For those who found the animated Pooh video series a disappointment compared to the original Disney featurettes (compiled in The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh), the Book of Pooh may revive interest. Its puppetry gives child viewers the delightful impression of their stuffed toys come to life. Although this new Disney Channel series still offers more lesson-oriented storytelling than the whimsy of the A.A. Milne-based originals, it has its own charm. This 46-minute offering contains three fright-oriented stories with Halloween in mind. The first--a double-length episode--focuses on Eeyore's move to the Scary Woods while the rest of the gang dreams up creepy costumes to win the contest at Kanga's holiday party. Piglet finds a black hat he thinks makes him brave and Tigger, Piglet, and Rabbit get spooked house sitting for Owl in the other two stories. --Kimberly Heinrichs
Rolie Polie Olie: A Spookie Ookie Halloween
To describe Playhouse Disney's perennial preschool favorite, think Teletubbies meets The Jetsons. This loving, traditional family--Mr. And Mrs. Polie, 6-year-old Olie, sister Zowie, and Grandpa Pappy--are hairless beings with antennas, glassy eyes and noodle arms, set in a fruit-striped computer animated household of living appliances. Okey Dokey? While parents scratch their heads as to what makes this program work, preschoolers are enamored with the soothing storylines, predictable endings and deliberate pace of the Emmy-award winning show. A trio of hardly-haunted tales makes up this celebratory 24-minute video. If Charlie Brown gets the Great Pumpkin, then Olie can dream of the giant orange Spookie Ookie, which he does in "The Legend of Spookie Ookie." In "Oooh Scary," Olie and his pal Billy plan to give Zowie the fright of her life but the shivers come back to haunt them, much to her delight. And in "Zowie Queen of the Pumpkins," the spookie ookiest day of the year! becomes a sweet memory of dancing with spook-o-lanterns when Zowie meets a midnight friend in the pumpkin patch. (Ages 2-5) --Lynn Gibson

He can't wait to go to the jack-o-lantern auditions and play pumpkin games at the seasonal patch parties. However, in pumpkin society you either qualify to become a jack-o-lantern, or you are kicked out of the patch and made into pie by the Bakerman.
The Bakerman never makes pies out of the official jack-o-lanterns, but he has a big pie order to fill and now all pumpkins are up for grabs, especially Reggie. Reggie's courage unites the pie pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns and they all join together with the jack-o-lantern ghosts of Halloweens past to defeat the Bakerman. Worst Menu EVER!!!.......2005-10-31
This is the second year that we have pulled out this seasonal DVD and my son enjoys them now just as much as he did last year. The reason I started warehousing seasonal DVDs was because of the level of frustration I have with this menu. First of all there is a verbose and utterly unnecessary narration about how to use the menu. Once you get past it or hit MENU on your remote to shut the guy up then the play all function from the main menu doesn't even work. You can then go into a sub menu for each show. Just in case you didn't catch in the first time there is yet another explanation of how to use the menu. When I press MENU at this point I am removed from the all menus and have to start over. I can take it for a few weeks a year but it's going back into storage as soon as the jack-o-lanterns hit the trash can. I have to give this DVD a one just based on the poor menu design.
I agree a GREAT PICK!!.......2005-10-12
We, too, never had any trouble bypassing the menu. This is another great creation by Disney. For any kids and parents who adore Playhouse Disney, this is the DVD for you, just sweet Halloween cheer. We would rate it a 10 if we could. It is one of our favorites!!!
Great Pick.......2004-01-08
I just wanted to say that I have never experienced any problems with our DVD taking too long to load. It is just like any other DVD, when you put it in you wait for the restriction info, hit menu, hit menu again to skip the bit that explains how to use the DVD and hit play. It starts just like all the rest. I think it is great that they are slowly getting these switched to DVD. I love Rolie Polie Olie and my son loves it too. It's defintely worth the $$$ or whatever it is.
Not worth the money.......2003-10-22
This DVD is not worth the money (might buy it for $5.00). The beginning is this long drawn out explanation of how to use the main menu and about the spooky ghost who will try to scare you as you make your selections (I'm not kidding you, it takes 3 to 5 minutes to get to the right screen to start the program you want to watch then another 2-3 minutes to start it from there). My daughter was screaming for Rolie Polie Olie and I couldn't skip the main menu to start it and then it was only 20 minutes long (there's Pooh bear on it too). Don't buy it!!

Family and good will toward others prove vital ingredients to a Merry Christmas in A Very Playhouse Disney Holiday. In JoJo's Circus "A Circus Time Christmas," JoJo and her family enjoy cherished holiday traditions like building a snow family and decorating the Christmas tree, but the mood becomes somber when a special heirloom Santa Clown ornament gets broken. Later, JoJo discovers the perfect gift for her parents, but is forced to make a difficult choice between it and a warm basket to save a cold little bird's life. In Higglytown Heroes, Twinkle's greatest wish is to be a wrapper for Santa in the North Pole. When her dream is granted in "Twinkle's Wish," she realizes that being home with her family is an even more important holiday wish. Two very brief Shanna's Shows encourage viewers ages 2 to 5 to use their skills of observation and deductive reasoning to discover what professions Shanna is dressed for. The bonus "Playhouse Present Search" challenges viewers to match up different presents with their intended Playhouse Disney recipients. --Tami Horiuchi
Description

In "A Circus Town Christmas," JoJo rescues a little bird and learns that the perfect gift doesn't come from a store but from your heart. Then, in "Twinkle's Wish," Twinkle's desire to be Santa's helper sends her off to the North Pole where she discovers that the best Christmas of all is the one you share with your family and friends. And join in the fun as Shanna shines bright as a mail carrier and a ballerina. So pack the sleigh and hitch the reindeer -- A VERY PLAYHOUSE DISNEY HOLIDAY will send you and your child's hearts and spirits soaring all year long.~

Sweet Christmas Movie!.......2006-12-08
This movie is precious! I have 2 boys ages 3 and 5 and this is the second Christmas season they have watched it and they love it! It really will get you into the holiday spirit. The Jo Jo's Circus story is a nice reminder of giving during the holidays, and putting other's first. The Higglytown Hero's story has lots of snow and shows what goes on at the North Pole. The 2 songs Twinkle sings are really just beautiful. It also teaches that being with loved one's is the nicest part of Christmas. There are 2 Shanna's Show shorts, one about a ballerina, and the other about a postal worker. So these aren't exactly about Christmas, the rest of the movie sure is!
Disappointed, but should have known better!.......2006-01-09
I knew this dvd would not be worth the price, but I was lured in by my 2 yr olds love of the Higglytown Heroes and JoJo. There are only two actual episodes on the dvd, one Higglytown and one JoJo's Circus. Then there are a couple other shorts that have no holiday theme whatsoever. We have another Playhouse Disney holiday vhs from a few years ago and it was the same thing, one holiday episode and the rest not holiday at all. While my kids and I love Playhouse Disney, you would be much better off recording the shows yourself.

Good old fashioned tv drama suitable for family viewing.......2006-12-04
A good print of four tv shows from 1953-4 by four stars - hence four star playhouse.
David Niven stars in and produced "Man on a Train", a good natured crime/mystery story. The Dick Powell show is "Sound off, my love" featuring the denial of the newly disabled and a little domestic problem that could lead to murder.
From Ida Lupino, "House for Sale" -would a single woman drive to a remote house with a property agent today? Perhaps a bit cliched and in the best horror film tradition of "why'd she do that.." with a rather daft proposed victim but nicely shot and acted.
John Howard stars in "Lady of the Orchids", another domestic misunderstanding situation, with a light touch of romance and a satisfactory unconcluded ending (left to you to imagine). Beautifully played.
A little gem of a collection of early tv drama.

ONE SHOW PARTLY MISSING.......2007-06-17
I just received this, and since I am a fan of classic television, now and then I have some duplicates of a show. The first program in this, is called, "Let The Chips Fall," which I have in another series. As it
had been awhile since I watched it, I viewed it here. Imagine my shock
when it suddenly cut off during dialogue and went straight to the closing
credits a good five minutes BEFORE the ending! And it is the ENDING which makes the story! The story doesn't even make sense the way the ending has been cut off. It is a great story though, and for those interested, it is available on "100 Classic Television Shows" DVD series. The other three programs on this are fine, and are STILL very much worth the money. For Ida Lupino fans, such as myself, she stars in
two of these! The other three stories are, "Looking Glass House," "A Place Full Of Strangers," and "The Case Of Emily Cameron," which was also written by Ms. Lupino. Again, aside from the problem with the first story, this is well worth the price.

Here's the deal.......2006-12-06
Look the only way a hardcore porn actress should do softcore is when the movie is written, produced & directed by either someone who is French or Italian. Only they know how to make erotic softcore movies.
Once a pornstar does hardcore, it's almost an insult to the intelligence viewer &/or fan to put out a softcore product.
Gr8 dvd.......2005-04-17
I knew this wouldn't be hardcore as peach make erotic titles so i knew what to expect and I wasn't disappointed.
Just a comment.......2004-05-25
If Amazon doesn't sell hardcore, what do you call Girls Gone Wild?
Of course it's not hardcore.......2004-04-05
I am really tired of seeing reviews of these vids complaining they are not hardcore porn. This is Amazon, folks! Amazon doesn't sell hardcore porn. So if you buy it off here, don't be shocked that it is softcore.
A Woman's Point of View.......2004-03-17
Well, I'm sure a lot of you men are used to seeing Jenna engaging in uh, more hardcore activities, but being a woman I'd much rather see her, in addition to many other lovely ladies, being sexy and teasing. You don't have to have penetration for it to be entertaining. I can't believe some of you don't find this DVD sexy.

LIVE AT THE PLAYHOUSE (SHAKATAK)
Customer Reviews:
If you like Shakatak..........2007-07-03
...then this has a given spot in yor collection!
I used to listen a lot to Shakatak in the mid- to late 80ies, but then they sort of disappeared (with me leaving albums and going to CDs) and it was not until recently (thanks YouTube) I realized they were still very much performing - and being better than ever!
This is an amazing live album, and a good collection of "everything" Shakatak has done over the years, both old and newer stuff. It is good to see how well they all have "aged". Jill Saward's voice is better now then ever and she displays a great "joy" over performing. Far too rare among today's performers!
So, if you want a good sampling, get this one! The music will make you happy and thanks to Bill Sharpe & Co., it is not just only well written, it is also well performed (technically and lively)!
As much as Steely Dan is great (the greatest?), this is a "happy" concert that you really shouldn't be without.
Turn the music up AND ENJOY.......2007-06-27
An excellent live performance from one of the best Brit Funk bands around. A testimony to true musicianship. Shakatak sound just as good if not better in concert than they do on their CD's. I have had the pleasure to see them perform twice to huge crowds of thousands, this dvd concert takes place in a rather more intimate setting but their performance remains top notch. All the members perform with skill and gusto..front woman Gill Saward has a brilliant voice but makes some dodgy wardrobe choices (flowery dress)...but then Shakatak have always maintained they are not a 'fashion band'...highlights for me include Under Your Spell, Let The Piano Play, Streetwalkin and many more. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Shakatak Live at the Playhouse.......2007-05-26
A great concert and collectible dvd for jazz and 80's music lovers. I am so glad that I opted to acquire this particular Dvd! I highly recommend it!
Very Good Show... BUT.......2006-12-06
