How low can you go? Not much lower than Guiseppe Andrews's Trailer Town. This Troma release sets itself in the realm of a reality-based version of the early John Waters. The movie is filled with lewd sexual commentary (by all characters), non-traditional relationships (mostly older women with somewhat younger men), and the just plain gross (one character, O Henry, courts his own feces). In other words, diehard Troma fans will love it. The parodic Lloyd Kaufman intro, which shows a brief scene with the Troma president and his debutante daughters set in upscale Manhattan, sets a stark contrast to the California trailer-park setting of Trailer Town. The movie is relatively plotless. It focuses on the personalities of the Trailer Town who risk being thrown out of their homes. The characters come together at the end as they resolve to go to war to avoid eviction. The portraits play like lowbrow Warhol, but pick up energy as they focus in on Chief Stan and Bill for the last half of the movie. The highlight of the movie (other than the Kaufman intro) is undoubtedly Stan and Bill's mock Catskills-style stand-up routines just prior to the war; their performances are so inspired even non-Troma fans may find them entertaining. Special features include Andrews's feature-length Who Flung Poo, starring most of the same actors in Trailer Town, and the usual Troma promotional fare. --Brian Saltzman
Description
Trailer Town is a unique motion picture experience, truly unlike anything you've seen before. A sexual interpretation of inner violence, about out-of-work comedians living in a trailer park run by a soap opera star. The old comedians cannot work anymore due to their addictions, and come up with the filthiest, most offensive routines they can devise, to strike out at mainstream society, their only audience being themselves.

When Bill recieves an eviction notice for having too many wild parties, he takes to the roof of his trailer with a rifle, and declares he is a victim of an "aluminum holocaust."

4 out of 5 stars For anyone who thought "Gummo" was funny.......2006-03-25

Giuseppe Andrews is one of the few modern day Auteurs. He is able create more entertaining films on his consumer mini dv camera than the majority of Hollywood films can on their $20,000,000 budgets. His combination of realism and white trash surrealist poetry equal to something great.
I will admit that Trailer Town has some flaw and pointless scenes, but as a whole its really something worth checking out. For beginners, I recommend you checkout his short "Dribble" on the "Best of Tromadance 3" dvd. Werner Herzog fans will be happy to hear a answering machine message at the end from the German auteur.
Trailer Town dvd also features some entertaining interviews with Giuseppe and another one of his short films "Who Flung Poo?".

3 out of 5 stars Great start, but loses steam........2004-08-25

I really enjoyed this movie in the beginning, but it got old and stale around half way through. I thought it was very funny and disgusting at the same time, but the swearing and dirty language got old and lost its humor. First of all, I was mislead by the idea behind the movie. I thought most of the movie would be about a man that goes on top of his trailer to defend it. Well, I was wrong, that only happens for around 5 minutes and it's at the end of the film. Basically it is about people living in a trailer park who only know how to use foul language or talk about sex. The film depended too much on the dialogue to try to win the audience over that it actually just hurt it in the end. Another problem with this film is there are huge subtitles that I do not think you can get rid of, at least I didn't see any way to get rid of them. They are very annoying and they also ruin the viewing of this film. I do recommend viewing this film if you enjoy films released by troma, but do not expect much more than a bunch of dirty language. By the end of the movie, you'll be glad it is over and it will probably leave you a little disappointed if you were expecting to see some guy defending his trailer as advertised. Overall a great start, but a very weak finish.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant Giuseppe Andrews Film.......2004-08-14

See this brilliant low budget indie film if you are in any way a fan of Herzog, Fassbinder or David Lynch. Highly recommended. Definitely one of my new favorite films.
