I found this and the Feature #2 companion DVD a reak kick in the old Nostalgia keister. I saw these movies in the theatre when they were first released. That gives you an idea of how old I am. The two movies on #1 were a little scratchy but considering how old they are and what they may have looked like before restoring them, I was very pleased. I have had worse copies of old movies. I can't say if the humor would hold up to most of the last two generations, but for any of us oldtimers, they are worth the price. The same with feature #2.

    Description

    Based on the popular 1930's and 1940's radio series Lum 'N' Abner, this second in a series of six films finds Lum and Abner running the Jot 'Em Down general store in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Abner Peabody (Norris Goff) is in love with middle aged Geraldine (Zasu Pitts), but is too shy to propose to her. In desperation, he convinces Lum Edwards (Chester Lauck) to stage several "accidents" in which Abner rescues Lum. The two are nearly killed, but Geraldine is impresssed. But on the flip side, Lum angers Abner when he decides trade in their delivery car for a race horse, hoping to win a big race and be a hero. A slapstick horse race ensues and all ends well for both men.
