Very Entertaining.......2007-07-02

I was not sure if I wanted to pick this set up because of the idea that Paramount or whoever might put out their own, super-official set. But, I was in the mood to watch the show again and I gave this a blind buy, and I'm glad I did. The coolest thing here is the fact that original sponsor promos were in this one - I've never seen that stuff and I know it wouldn't be on an "official" release. So, even if the studio does put out something later, this is still something original and great. If only MPI could put out every episode.

There are way too many other 'Beverly Hillbillies' dvd collections out there and I was reluctant to buy this one as I bought 2 other different collections of this show and the quality was poor and the opening/closing themes were not the original as seen on tv. This set and volume 2 are both 100% original shows as seen on tv. This includes original opening and closing them songs and they kept it in B/W as they were originally presented on tv (I do not like colorized versions of anything when it was originally shot in B/W). The quality of video and sound are great and I honeslty can't wait for next set of Beverly Hillbillies or Petticoat Junctiion to come out. Hey, as others say, there are a few shortcomings, but the quality and being the origianl shows easily overcome the issues that were written. I have had no problems with discs playing.

The show i gave three stars because of the theme song and the unaired pilot. The picture and sound are ok and after all these years the show still makes me laught.
To all the reviewer prior to me I give a big zero and thank them a lot for failing to point our that the episodes are not in color as advise on the amazon site but black and white.

A classic comedy.......2006-08-15

The Beverly Hillbillies is a classic show that makes me smile,and laugh, and makes me remember watching it as a child---which makes me smile again!! This set is great if you are into a good slapstick laughing time!! I highly recommend this collection.

"The Beverly Hillbillies" was one of my all time favorite television programs. This series was created at a time when quality counted in television production. So, I was extremely happy when it was announced that this collection was being released. The picture and sound quality is excellent. And the extra features are the icing on the cake. You will enjoy this collection.

The Clampetts, an Ozark hillbilly family, accidentally struck it rich when patriarch Jed, while hunting, shot the ground and struck oil. At the advice of their family and friends, they moved to Beverly Hills, California, where they moved into the mansion next door to banker Milburn Drysdale, president of the Commerce Bank of Beverly Hills. Accompanying Jed to Beverly Hills were his daughter, Elly May, a beautiful young "spinster" tomboy; Jethro, Jed's nephew and the brain of the family (with a 6th grade education); and Granny, Jed's mother-in-law, a mountain healer and matchmaker.

Over the next nine years, several constants emerged...Jed never replaced his old worn hat or the family truck; Elly May never got a husband; Granny never got to go back to the hills; and Jethro never got to keep the girl.

The Beverly Hillbillies was an instantaneous hit when it aired in 1962 and continued to be a hit until its last episode in 1971. During its first two seasons it ranked as the number one program on television, attracting as many as 60 million viewers per week!

WARNING - NO THEME MUSIC.......2006-03-18

If you buy ANY item produced by Platinum, the theme song will be missing, especially from The Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction, and the Andy Griffith Show (and probably Green Acres). The theme music is replaced with some dumb replacement music. It seems that if the theme song has words, Platinum will replace it with their own dumb music. You have been warned!
