One of the most endearing and intelligent romantic comedies of the '90s, the Oscar-winning Shakespeare in Love is filled with such good will, sunny romance, snappy one-liners, and devilish cleverness that it's absolutely irresistible. With tongue placed firmly in cheek, at its outset the film tracks young Will Shakespeare's overwrought battle with writer's block and the efforts of theater owner Philip Henslowe (Geoffrey Rush, in rare form) to stage Will's latest comedy, Romeo and Ethel, the Pirate's Daughter. Jokey comedy, though, soon takes a backseat to ravishing romance when the beautiful Viola De Lesseps (Gwyneth Paltrow) disguises herself as a young man to wangle herself an audition in the all-male cast, and wins both the part of Romeo and, after much misunderstanding, the playwright's heart. Soon enough, Will's pirate comedy becomes the beautiful, tragic Romeo and Juliet, reflecting the agony and ecstasy of Will and Viola's romance--he's married and she's set to marry the slimy Lord Wessex (Colin Firth) in the near future.

The way that Oscar-winning screenwriters Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard enfold their story within the parameters of Romeo and Juliet (and even Twelfth Night) is nothing short of brilliant--it would take a Shakespearean scholar to dissect the innumerable parallels, oft-quoted lines, plot developments, and thematic borrowings. And most amazingly, Norman and Stoppard haven't forgotten to entertain their audience in addition to riding a Shakespearean roller coaster, with director John Madden (Mrs. Brown) reigning in his huge ensemble with rollicking energy. Along the way there are small gems to be found, including Judi Dench's eight-minute, Oscar-winning turn as a truly regal Queen Elizabeth, but the key element of Shakespeare in Love's success rests on the milky-white shoulders of its two stars. Fiennes, inexplicably overlooked at Oscar time, is a dashing, heartfelt Will, and as for Best Actress winner Paltrow, well, nothing she'd done before could have prepared viewers for how amazing she is here. Breathtakingly beautiful, fiercely intelligent, strong-willed, and lovestruck--it's a performance worthy of Shakespeare in more ways than one. By the film's end, you'll be thoroughly won over--and brushing up your Shakespeare with newfound ardor. --Mark Englehart

5 out of 5 stars if you have any theater experience.......2007-06-27

It has a great pace and a great turn of phrase. If you have any theater experience at all you will be in on the jokes. It makes one appreciate good acting from great acting. Their perfomances pull you in even when they are acting at acting.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant and So Clever.......2007-05-16

This is my all time favorite movie. I have always adored Romeo and Juliet. I love Shakespeare's poetic language. This movie is both funny and moving and poignant. The first time I watched it I was thrilled. And it has gotten better every single time I have watched it. And by now, I have probably watched it 35 times. It still makes me laugh. It still makes me cry. It still makes me sigh. It still makes me put my hand over my heart and gently shake my head at it's brilliance.

5 out of 5 stars Bill's Great Works.......2007-05-14

Although the history may incomplete, this film transports one back to the glory days of Elizabeth 1, who we owe so very much to; her father might also be in line for a little credit! On one hand, it is frightening to think of living back then, but the excitement of what was happening is amazing.
Since Bill's complete known works can be downloaded via the Guttenberg project, this movie can lead to an obsession with all things English. When we realize how much that small piece of real estate has contributed (Calculus, Physics, Chemistry......) it seems like a valid obsesssion.
There would also seem to be an important political lesson, which many need to go back and consider, if they can read...hint hint.

5 out of 5 stars Timeless Love .......2007-04-28

I was extremely pleased with the outcome of this movie. The screenplay is very well written, incorporating mainly Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet into the movie while also adding other various works of Shakespeare's. The movie has a semi-historical basis to it and portrays vast romantic comedy throughout. One of my favorite feel good romantic comedies to watch! Joseph Fiennes and Gwyneth Paltrow have great chemistry on set!

5 out of 5 stars The best Shakespeare.......2007-04-04

Well done, moving.
The music, the acting, the classic performances from Romeo and Juliet.

This is a great DVD to watch with family and friends. We had a whole living room full of people and we all started playing along using whatever we could find to make some noise. Very inspirational to anyone interested in percussion.

This tongue-in-cheek 1970 variation on The Dirty Dozen looks less fresh than it did in the year of its release, but it still has some enjoyable moments. Clint Eastwood stars along with Donald Sutherland, Harry Dean Stanton, Telly Savalas, Don Rickles, Carroll O'Connor, and Gavin MacLeod in the story of American soldiers who try to steal gold behind enemy lines in World War II. Sutherland's hippie G.I. doesn't have the sardonic and timely appeal he did during the Vietnam War, but the film's irreverence and several of the performances are worth a visit. --Tom Keogh

5 out of 5 stars Kelly's Heroes.......2007-05-06

Clint Eastwood has always been a favorite of mine and his protrayal
of the enterprising fighting soldier is standard of his image as
top quality movie star. The product is good with great color and
sound.

5 out of 5 stars I still love this movie.......2007-04-04

I first saw this movie when I was a kid and was just a WWII buff. I can honestly say, though, that since then I will make a point to watch it whenever I see it. While it is not high art by any stretch, it is an eminently watchable movie that is well paced and has iconic characters you'll remember well after you see the movie (who could forget Oddball). In fact, I'm going to go watch it right now...

5 out of 5 stars Simply a great film..........2007-03-20

One of my all time favourites, Kelly Heroes somehow manages to find comic relief, humor and irony in the otherwise dismal environment of war.

Under the mask of wartime confusion, the guys pull of the 'perfect caper.' You just have to wonder just how often such a real event must have taken place.

The action in this movie flows very well and the performances by Sutherland, Savalas and Rickles are superb. I must have watched this film 25 times by now and never tire from or get bored with it.

Highly recommended - but not for under 12yo.

4 out of 5 stars Very subtle, but hilarious.......2007-03-16

The hordes of reviewers that have written earlier on this movie have covered the plot, and how funny this movie is, and how "1970s" it is. I want to add a bit about the subtle points in this movie that are really good. Telly Savalas does an excellent job as the lungs-of-brass Sergeant who goes along for one reason only, and that is to keep all the men under him alive. How he does this and the efforts he goes through are all kept in the movie, and that could not have been easy to do. Carroll O'Connor's General is another lungs-of-brass type, but his focus is to get close enough to the real action to share in the glory. He, however, is so completely clueless as to be, well...believable! Sutherland's Oddball is everybody's favorite. What is really funny though is how everyone in theater (combat theater) knows him. Then there is the whole subject of the marching band and how it gets involved. Yes, the story in the movie is pretty superficial, but the subtleties in this movie are what really make it go, and make it one of the most satisfying Eastwood movies ever made.

Chris Farley fans will enjoy this "best of" video! Very funny sketches and out-takes. Great reminder not to do drugs at the end.

4 out of 5 stars Makes me tear up every time I watch it [4.5 stars].......2006-08-23

Chris Farley was, in my estimation, one of the best sketch comedians ever. Saturday Night Live greatly improved when he became a cast member. His work was brilliant. Sometimes his size and willingness to do pratfalls were overused, but he was perhaps the best there has ever been at using those gimmicks for laughs.

The video is funny and moving. It constantly reminds you of the tragedy and untimeliness of his death. But, it's harder to find more laughs than you'll get from the DVD.

Too much of Chris's best SNL work -- I mean a whole bunch -- was left out, which explains my 4.5 star rating. That some sketches made the video (e.g. Cher haircare products infomercial) is downright baffling. The producers could have hit a grand slam home run with this set. Instead, they played it safe and boring and went for the triple.

Even so, this is a must for any comedy fan's collection. My 6 year old loves Lunch Lady Land and sings it around the house. Except for some language, it's good for all ages.

Perhaps one of the greatest lights ever to shine on late-night television, Eddie Murphy has gone on to well-deserved international superstardom. Check out his earliest television work on Saturday Night Live: The Best of Eddie Murphy, a collection of his greatest roles, from Gumby to Stevie Wonder to Buckwheat. Of course, some would argue that his best role was as himself, and there is plenty of evidence for that--many of the skits feature Murphy au naturel and the opening sequence is taken from his monologue when he returned to the show triumphantly after leaving for Hollywood. Exploring the world around him and finding laughs everywhere, Murphy can take a simple idea (such as the "James Brown Hot Tub Party") and run wild with it, leaving the audience hysterically begging for more. You don't have to be a fan to enjoy this collection, but odds are you'll be one by the time you're finished. --Rob Lightner

4 out of 5 stars Yes, they messed-- but they did add---.......2007-03-01

I too was surprised that the new, improved DVD version of The Best of Eddie Murphy was not the same as my old VHS version. Sure, James Brown doing Hot Tub and Bu'wheat and Velvet Jones were there; but there was only 1 Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood instead of 2, and it was missing a few gems like the discussion of the Emancipation Proclamation and a sketch with Stevie Wonder. But where the DVD redeemed itself was on the inclusion of a Gumby skit (I didn't care which one, I couldn't believe they didn't include one on the VHS and I wanted Gumby, dammit!), the prison film in which the poet recites the ever-popular and billiant poem, "Kill My Landlord" (C-I-L-L my landlord), and Stevie Wonder playing a nerd trying to do a Stevie Wonder impersonation, only to be taught by Eddie how to do Stevie. So they taketh away with one hand, and giveth with the other. Could they have included ALL of them, and then some, on a new DVD? OF COURSE THEY COULD! And why didn't they? Good question. But to be fair to the DVD, I welcomed the new inclusions. Just don't get rid of your old VHS. If it was ALL in one, it would be 5 stars. But just having Gumby ordering a Morey Amsterdam sandwich again made me feel good all over (dammit). Not perfect, but I'll give it better than a C (a bouncy C).

1 out of 5 stars messed with the original VHS release, made it worse.......2007-02-07

Loren Michels ruins most things he touches. they left out the "Hot Tub" sketch, where eddie play's as the late, great James Brown. it may be one of THE most funny sketches in the history of television!!!! I could see that thing 100 times and i would still laugh as hard as the first time seeing it! i stand buy the greatness of that sketch, SNL was riding the Eddie Murphy thing all the way to the bank ( the show would most likley been canceled, in my opinion, the show was unwatchable without him an piscapo teamed up).
then to make this thing worse is that the VHS version had zero Gumby sketches in it ( still great without it thought). i see they have a Gumby sketch in the dvd version, i think "oh, cool, a Gumby dammit segment", but it ends up being one of the lamest one's around. what, they didn't want to pay piscapo the royalties for showing the one where Gumby goes on Letterman (Piscapo as letterman)?
do everyone a favor and don't purchase this watered down version....Delirious just came out. get that instead. that is GARUNTEED to make u laugh! this dvd....meeeeh!

    3 out of 5 stars Falls Short!.......2006-08-21

This DVD fell short of the quality of the original VHS version. There were so many great clips left out. I can sum it up in one sentence: More Eddie, less Buckwheat.

It was classic Carvey. I loved it. The only thing wrong was it wasn't long enough.

    5 out of 5 stars Great.......2007-05-02

Carvey was probably the most underrated SNL member in history. He seems to have been overshadowed by his less talented (not an insult, he's great!) Wayne's World counterpart Mike Myers. I would love to see a volume 2.Carvey created some of SNL's most memorable characters- Church Lady, Garth Algar, George Bush, Hanz & Franz, etc... Definately a great pickup. The "Gerald Ford died today" sketch will have you ROLLING!

5 out of 5 stars Ross Perot only wishes he could do Ross Perot this good!.......2006-11-10

Dana Carvey was among the 2 or 3 most talented performers in the long history of Saturday Night Live, at least in my opinion.

His best work seems to age timelessly as seen in this highlight DVD.

His impression of Ross Perot is entertainment at its best!! No matter how many times I have seen it, I always enjoy seeing it again!

    5 out of 5 stars Can I Finish?.......2006-01-07

Dana Carvey is one of the funniest and most talented comedians to have ever appeared on SNL. Although his film career did not truly take off, like many other SNL alumni to follow, he is among the finest when it comes to comedic material and timing.

Best known for his impressions, his "Best of" DVD is loaded with them. George Bush, Regis, Jimmy Stewart, Ross Perot, George Michael, Johnny Carson, etc... Some of our old favorites are also revisited: The Church Lady, Garth Algar, Hans and a Grumpy Old Man. Whichever is your favorite, you will enjoy them all. This is some of the best material Saturday Night Live has to offer, courtesy of their best impressionist to date.

Also included on the DVD you will find Carvey's original SNL audition tape footage and appearances on Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien.

5 out of 5 stars Funniest of the 'Best of SNL' so far .......2005-01-28

In my opinion, out of the three SNl Best Of's that i have watched so far (Will Ferrell volumes 1 and 2, and Chris Farley) this is the funniest and best yet. Dana Carvey is a brilliant impressionist and is able to transform his own natural voice into anything he wants to. Whether it be The Church Lady, Hans, Garth, George Bush...etc. The other two Best Of's that i watched actually left out some of the more funnier sketches. I believe the sketches compiled into this DVD are the funniest Dana Carvey did. Also, the extras are great too. You can watch Dana's original audition for SNL, watch many outtakes, a sketch that was actually completely cut from the actual show, and his appearances on Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien. Highly recommended for Dana Carvey fans, SNL fans, or just comedian fans in general...Expect to be laughing to the point of tears in this great DVD!

Ah, Shakespeare. The great bard. You've heard he's a terrific writer. One of these days, you may actually get around to catching one of his plays. Yeah, right. Well, with the help of the Reduced Shakespeare Company, not only can you catch all of Shakespeare's plays at once, but you can have a riotous good time doing so.

Three men performing 37 plays in less than two hours may seem a bit of a stretch. But Adam Long, Reed Martin, and Austin Tichenor--all members of the Reduced Shakespeare Company--pull it off beautifully with The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), a slapstick show that summarizes the playwright's stage work (with the sonnets thrown in). Never read Titus Andronicus? No problem; it's presented here as a cooking show. Can't keep your Shakespearean histories straight? Visualize them as a football game. Wondering what exactly is the deal with that guy Othello? Hear his story as a rap song. Hard as it is to imagine, this video of the stage show (originally seen on PBS) is one of the funniest, most clever productions around. Long is hysterical in his roles of Juliet and Ophelia (among others), bringing a hip, edgy feel to the plays while remaining surprisingly true to the stories. Martin and Tichenor will amaze with their acrobatic movements and frequent costume changes, and the three together are a marvel of timing and rhythm. Best of all, whether you know Shakespeare inside out or have yet to read a word of him, The Complete Works will have you in stitches. --Jenny Brown

    Description

Life is short. The complete works of Shakespeare are long. To the rescue: THE REDUCED SHAKESPEARE COMPANY, the three-man comedy troupe known for fast, funny, physical condensations of real serious stuff. They wrap up the Bard's outsized oeuvre in 90 roller-coaster, rib-tickling minutes. After warming up with a nothing-is-sacred send-up of Romeo and Juliet, they're off, dispensing with the comedies in one fell swoop (because the tragedies are funnier). You decide after you see Othello as a rap song, Titus Andronicus as a cooking program, and the show's unforgettable finale - Hamlet - told with the help of audience members and lascivious sock puppets. Contains material not seen on the PBS broadcast. "Intellectual vaudeville" - The New York Times. "Inspired American spoof merchants...slings and arrows of outrageous comedy" - Daily Telegraph. "This trio of modern Marx brothers will leave you in stitches" - Boston Herald.

DVD SPECIAL FEATURES INCLUDE: Trade secrets: Two commentaries featuring the stars and the director; Humble beginnings: Rare footage of an early RSC performance; Who are these clowns?: Cast bios; Pop Quiz: Interactive trivia, Say Again?: English Subtitles. WARNING: High-speed hilarity. Not for people with weak hearts or English degrees! Starring Adam Long, Reed Martin & Austin Tichenor.

    3 out of 5 stars 2/3s Funny.......2007-06-21

About 2/3s of this show are funny and about 1/3 is either boring or forced. Adam Long is a stitch, very enjoyable. But do we really need multiple versions of "Hamlet"? This is one I would rent if I had to do it over again.

5 out of 5 stars The Best of Rap: Othello.......2007-05-13

I had seen a live production of this play a few years ago, but forgot how much I laughed. Great satire of the Bard's works. Bravo!

    5 out of 5 stars A great disk of a great play.......2007-05-06

This is simply one of the funniest shows ever staged, especially if you have at least a passing familliarity with most of Shakespeare's works. The DVD is not a movie, it is simply a recording of a stage performance, with a little bit of camera work.

Best of all, this DVD's performance features the writers of the play.

Bonus features include a home video of the very first performance of the play, under a park shelter in Canada. Once you're familliar with the show, watch this feature to see how the show has evolved. The earlier version will also make you laugh.

    5 out of 5 stars Beyond hysterical!!.......2007-04-08

The first time we watched this, my husband and I were laughing so hard that our eldest teenager came in to see what on earth we were watching. She promptly claimed it, and while she was watching it in turn, her younger brother came in because she was laughing so hard. He was next to succumb to the hilarity of Reduced Shakespeare.

As another reviewer mentioned, you will fully appreciate this if you know and love the Bard. The Reduced Shakespeare Company performs all of Shakespeare's works, including the sonnets, in about 90 minutes. Well, they don't actually perform the sonnets, but they make an appearance, and were I to further comment on that, you would not enjoy it as much!

Their Othello rap is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. They also reduce, rereduce and rerereduce all Shakespeare's comedies to one sentence, then perform them all simultaneously. (That may not appear to make sense, but trust me, it works!)

If you are a fan of Shakespeare, and seeking comedic fare above the average available on DVD, you owe it to yourself and your family to get this DVD. Whether you see it once or a dozen times, it is guaranteed to get you laughing uncontrollably (seriously, drink beverages while watching this at your own risk!). Not appropriate for very small children, teens and up will really have fun. In fact, showing it to your teenagers may get a whole new generation hooked on the Bard!

    Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars Don't Get Shakespeare? Try this!.......2007-03-11

I first encountered this grandly amusing entertainment as a live production at my university campus some years ago. My son and I decided to to go based solely on the play's title, and a winking characature of Shakespeare displayed on the poster. Little did we know what that wink signified, as we had no idea of the lunacy that was in store for us. When "The Reduced Shakespeare Company" came available on VHS (then, later, DVD), I purchased it, and have been enjoying and sharing it ever since.

As a secondary English teacher, I have difficulty sometimes getting my students to embrace the classics. When I mention Shakespeare, eyes roll, heads fall onto desks, and moans can be heard. It's like getting a small child to eat his vegetables. Like broccoli, the classics are good for us, but they're hard for some to digest.

Enter the Reduced Shakespeare Company with its "The Complete Works of "William Shakespeare (Abridged)." I have used excerpts in class to show the kids that Shakespeare can be a lot of fun. With their more-or-less complete versions of "Romeo and Juliet" and "Hamlet," even my most resistant students know the major plot points and themes of these plays.

The overview of the other plays is inspired, lumping the main ideas of Shakespeare's comedies into one tossed-salad. The histories are also compressed in a manner that only Americans could have devised.

And, one can never view "Othello" in quite the same way after hearing the "Reduced Shakesperians" rendition of "Othello Rap."

This performance is much more (or less) than a teaching tool. It is a rollicking, comedic fun time for all. If you like Shakespeare already, you'll like the witty satire going on here. If you like the Three Stooges, the slapstick is right up your alley. If you have a short attention span, don't worry. One can view this performance as a whole, or pick out bits one finds amusing.

I have viewed "The Complete Works" several times now, both with my family and with my students, and each time I find a new joke, or even a new insight, that I missed earlier.

Some have suggested that Shakespeare is perhaps rolling in his grave at this treatment of his plays. I like to believe, however, that if he were alive today, Will would be laughing--all the way to the bank.

    5 out of 5 stars WOW!!!.......2007-05-25

I didn't want to leave the theater when I originally saw this film. Any musician, especially music teachers, will appreciate the multiculturalism that "Pulse" displays. (My students beg to watch this movie when I have a substitute.) "Pulse" is a great way to expose yourself and others to the vast variety of music that exists in our world. It is moving and absolutely breathtaking -- Enjoy!

    5 out of 5 stars Teachers.......2007-05-20

Pulse is an excellent video for the classroom. Students from elementary through high school will enjoy watching this video.

    4 out of 5 stars Finally!.......2007-03-21

I've waited a long time for this IMAX film to be put on DVD so I could share it with my music students. I'm so excited that it's finally available!

Everything is there, plus some cool extras.

However, my excitement is tempered by the following:

The only reason I give it four stars instead of five is that the film was simply compressed from IMAX down to a letterbox.

Everyone looks a bit squished - noticeably wider and shorter than they did in the film. This is unfortunate because in the extras, everyone is proportioned correctly, obviously filmed with regular film instead of IMAX film.

5 out of 5 stars This DVD has been a long time coming.......2007-02-03

Pulse: A Stomp Odyssey works along the premise that music--and more accurately, rhythm--is the global language. To that end, the Stomp team has done a fantastic job of collecting and filming cultural rhythms from around the globe. For those expecting something along the lines of Stomp's live performances such as the ones showcased in Stomp Out Loud, prepare to be disappointed. But for those looking for a creative and fantastic journey of discovery, Pulse delivers in spades.

No other person has been a guest on Saturday Night Live as many times as the inimitable Steve Martin, which is what makes SNL's Best of Steve Martin compilation the finest of the series. This collection gives us not only clips of some of the show's funniest moments, but also a sense of how the show has evolved from the 1970s. Earlier monologues were rougher, less staged, but absolutely out of control in the best way, as Martin is given free rein to unleash his "happy feet," play the banjo, and generally explore his zaniness. The earliest clip dates from 1976 and the latest from the mid-'90s, showcasing the program's greatest players throughout the seasons--Chevy Chase, Laraine Newman, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Mike Meyers, Dana Carvey, Nora Dunn, David Spade, Jon Lovitz. The beloved classics are here, from "King Tut," with complete Egyptian regalia, to the arrow through the head to, of course, a "wild and crazy guy." Not enough for you? Well, "excuuuuuuse me." Also included are the Coneheads at home (with Martin playing a hapless IRS agent), "Jeopardy 1999," "Common Knowledge" (one of the wittiest SNL sketches ever), and ads for "Rise" and for "Steve Martin's Penis Cream." This collection will satisfy longtime SNL fans and is a great way to show newer fans what comedy is really about. --Jenny Brown

Now if I could find the skit with Rosie Grier as a doctor operating on a patient with several other celebrities (could it have been the Ed Sullivan Show or am I just senile?) to Sir Paul McCartney's "Oh, My, My!"

Little Britain Live contains just about everything from Little Britain the BBC television series. Leads Matt Lucas and David Walliams along with familiar faces from the series, reenact skit after skit, extracting new scenarios from the characters that have created die-hard fans. Little Britain Live has the twist however, of being a filmed touring theatrical production, and unlike the series, watching this DVD plays like you are an outsider during an inside joke. The actors are playing to a crowded theatre and often over-hamming, which serves to dilute the characters they worked so hard to perfect. They interact with the audience, address the audience, pause during applause, and sometimes break character, which tends to interrupt the skit of the moment. Clearly they chose to run the performance this way, and in person the magic is probably there, but that magic doesn't transfer well to the impersonal DVD. The stage set-up is impressive, closely mimicking sets from the original program; the costume changes are lightning fast and perfectly timed. Little Britain as a series is a masterpiece of comedy. Little Britain Live is probably best seen live.--Rachel Moss

    Customer Reviews:

    5 out of 5 stars It's superb.......2007-06-27

If you Love Little Britain - or British humor - you won't be disappointed. Full of creativity - and simply hilarious. It is brilliant to see skits performed live and the twists that Matt Lucas and David Walliams have come up with.

4 out of 5 stars You either love them or snicker politely..........2007-06-26

Little Britain is one of the oddest shows to come over the Atlantic. Their humor is very strange, somewhat disgusting, and they both like to dress as women. But somehow they pull it off and have created a uniquely entertaining series. The live show that this is is not as "elegant" as their TV series due, most likely, to having to please an audience. Still, it is a good addition to the previous 3 series if you've been jonesing for a hit.

4 out of 5 stars Laugh out loud funny.......2007-06-14

I first heard about these guys in Entertainment Weekly a few years ago so I decided to check season 1 DVD out. I loved them and they seemed to get funnier with each season. A must for any British comedy lovers.
This show has many of the same character they do in their regular show but it's Live.
    Great stuff.

5 out of 5 stars Little Britain is Fab!!!.......2007-06-10

Matt and David are brilliant. The live show just proves it. I loved seeing the adlibs and bloopers and especially the segment on David swimming the Channel.

On a side, Paul Putner was fabulous in all of the little roles he played. His costume changes were infinitely more complex and faster than some of the others.

For British comedy lovers, this is a must own!!!

5 out of 5 stars More than you might expect..........2007-05-31

This is the live version of Little Britain that played on stages around the UK, which means that the performances were uncensored, but not over the top. All of the favorite skits are represented including a cameo from Anthony Head as the Prime Minister. What is more interesting I found was the parallel story of costar David Walliams' training during the stage tour for an attempt to swim the English Channel for charity and his subsequent successfuly attempt. The DVD is well done with a blend of on-stage performances, off-stage background, and David's training.
