In Premonition, Linda Hanson (Sandra Bullock) is living in the Twilight Zone as she experiences recurring dreams of her husband's car crash, mediated by days in which the tragedy hasn't yet happened. By the time Linda does see her husband Jim's (Julian McMahon) death, one feels relieved instead of grievous. Though Premonition mines fascinating material, investigating the ways women in particular have uncanny psychic abilities to predict impending family dangers, Linda's premonitions are so convoluted, even to her, that it is difficult to determine their reality. Unrealistic scenes involving a sadistic psychiatrist and an unwarranted lithium prescription would lead one to question Linda's sanity, but instead add falseness to the story. Irritating sequences in which Linda confides in a priest at the local church, who tells her that faith will heal all, seem like Christian propaganda that completely eradicates any real witchcraft in the story. For a truly scary film about clairvoyance, see Dario Argento's Phenomena. Premonition is a bogus take on psychic prediction, as tearjerking as Ghost was during Patrick Swayze's heyday. --Trinie Dalton

It was very different and I found it very interesting. Not "Citizen Kane" great or even great but very entertaining. End could have had a better twist but it kept me watching.

4 out of 5 stars The Things We Can't Control.......2007-06-19

Sandra Bullock plays a housewife who finds herself caught between two worlds where she can predict a tragic event before it happens and then where the tragedy has already happened. One day, a police officer comes to her door disclosing the news that her husband was killed in an auto accident. The next day she wakes up, goes downstairs and finds him drinking coffee in the kitchen. Everything seems normal that day until she awakes the next morning to find her friends and family preparing to attend his funeral. Linda(Bullock)continues to feel as if she's in the twilight zone with each waking morning. The days that make up an entire week and the sequence of events that take place within those days come off as choppy and inconsistent until she begins to piece the clues together in an attempt to prevent her husband's death. Without going into more details, Premonition is compelling enough to keep you wondering and guessing what might happen next and which incident could or should follow the other. The end result is a good enough mystery with ties to religion, the supernatural, and twists of fate-some she couldn't change and others, well, you'll see in the end.

3 out of 5 stars I can't predict how you'll feel if you buy this..........2007-06-13

I was one of the few critics who actually enjoyed Sandra Bullock's last time travel film, The Lake House (Widescreen Edition). That one was a romance in the vein of Somewhere in Time (Collector's Edition), while Premonition is a thriller more along the lines of The Forgotten.

Unfortunately, Premonition is no better than The Forgotten (in fact, it has a lot fewer "scares") and uses the same loco logic at the end to explain the terrifying time warp (terrifying for Bullock's character, if not the audience).

The story follows happy housewife Linda Hansen and her hunky hubby Jim (Nip/Tuck's Julian McMahon) in their trip through time, following -- and previous to -- Jim's death in a fiery car wreck. Since Linda is the only one aware that the weekdays are all out of order and sometimes repeating themselves with different outcomes, everyone else around her just thinks she's a raving nut-job.

Linda is... sort of cosmically... sent to a psychiatrist (Peter Storemare... c'mon... who'd accept a prescription from that guy?) and put on anti-psychotics. Needless to say, that doesn't help and Linda finds herself jumping all over the calendar again. Unfortunately for loopy Linda, going back and forth in time is hardly helpful -- she's unable to remember what's happened in those alternate realities and is therefore powerless to stop the inevitable.

While there is interesting cinematography and jarring sound design, no amount of visual and aural accoutrements can disguise the fact that not only is Linda's life boring, but so is she. No wonder Jim goes on so many business trips (and we all know what that means!).

The only person who seems to understand what Linda is going through is her priest, who conveniently has several appropriate pages of the Bible bookmarked for her unheralded arrival -- but instead of support, Linda gets a spiritual upbraiding and is sent on her way, answerless.

The same could be said for the audience, many of whom will no doubt exit the theater scratching their heads and cancelling their subscriptions to Christianity Today. Premonition is so bad, there's even a scene mirroring the time when the old nighttime soap Dallas jumped the shark with Bobby Ewing in the shower! And the ending? ...I felt a queasy combination of morning sickness and Deja Vu. **Horror.com's review (2.5 stars)

3 out of 5 stars Nothing Special.......2007-06-04

Premonition tells the story of Linda's visions of the future. These hints tell her that Jim, her husband, is going to die in a car crash. Eventually, the viewer will see how the events in her visions tie together. The ending was rather anticlimactic.

I suppose one of the themes "studied" by this film is the notion of fate. Can a person shape the future, or is the future predestined and hence immutable? This issue was also examined in Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy. Linda's priest suggested that her visions were the result of faithlessness and that nature abhorred vacuums.

While I understand that some things in life cannot be explained and that religion can provide people comfort in times of hardship and uncertainty, I did not really buy such an explanation. I felt the film did not bring anything new to the table, so to speak. Moreover, there was not enough development into why Jim was tempted to cheat on Linda.

For one-stop convenience, you can't beat this handy compilation of Laurel & Hardy classics. Although it's modestly priced and packaged, this DVD packs plenty of extras along with Stan & Ollie's finest feature and several of the comedy duo's best-loved "talkie" shorts. Sons of the Desert (1933) is the crown jewel in any L&H collection, and with Charley Chase as their stellar comedy costar, the boys reached the pinnacle of their unique partnership, playing a pair of Fez-wearing "Sons of the Desert" sneaking off to a convention in Chicago, but their wives discover the ruse with hilarious results. For L&H fans, it simply doesn't get any better than this, although 1932's "The Music Box" shares equal status--and a 1932 Oscar® for Best Comedy Short--in the L&H pantheon. The remaining shorts on the disc ("Another Fine Mess," "Busy Bodies," and "County Hospital") were produced during the prime of Stan & Ollie's sound-era success (1930-33), each boasting their own timeless bits and flawless routines. Abundant laughs are virtually guaranteed.

Most of the bonus material pays tribute to legendary comedy producer Hal Roach, who first partnered Stan & Ollie in 1926. A film-clip tribute includes interviews with comedy greats like Mel Brooks and Steve Allen, and on-screen articles explore Roach's career in greater detail. A "then and now" photo tour provides an historic tour of Roach Studio locations in Culver City, California, and text biographies are provided for Roach, Laurel, and Hardy. In addition to the films themselves (which never looked or sounded better), these extras make this Laurel & Hardy DVD a perfect choice for old and new fans alike. --Jeff Shannon

Being an avid fan of Mr. Laurel and Mr. Hardy down through the years, I really appreciated the Digitally Remastered versions of "Sons Of The Desert", "The Music Box", "Another Fine Mess", "Busy Bodies" and "County Hospital." The feature film "Sons Of The Desert" is one of my absolute favorites of their collected full length works. It is only rarely that one views a modern comedy of the quality these two portrayed.

Steven Spielberg's deeply flawed but sporadically fun and moving update of the Peter Pan legend stars Robin Williams as the grown-up Pan, a corporate-takeover type who must embrace his old identity in order to save his kids from Captain Hook (Dustin Hoffman). The stars put on a good show, including Hoffman's read of Hook's hysterical personality, Julia Roberts mini-turn as a tiny Tinker Bell, and Maggie Smith's touching performance as the aged Wendy. The visual contrast between the adult Pan's bustling outside world and the insulated fantasy of Neverland is striking, but Spielberg's ideas about the Lost Boys--politically correct in their ethnic diversity, energetic on skateboards--are contrived and cheapening. On the plus side, the story's theme about adults finding their innocence again through their children is very touching (though some people have found it cloying). If you can look beyond the glaring problems, there's plenty to like here. --Tom Keogh

5 out of 5 stars GOOD MOVIE FOR FAMILY.......2007-06-18

My 5 years old son love to watch this movie. He also watch Disney Peter Pan(anime) but after few months I bought Hook and peter pan(no anime) then he liked it very much because he know the story from Peter Pan animation so it is easy to understand.

    5 out of 5 stars Heart-warming.......2007-03-03

This film warms my heart, makes me laugh, provides some good points for teaching and sermon illustrations. I am surrounded by people who have forgotten who they are. Tinkerbell's push to help Peter remember has deeper meaning than perhaps it's meant to have, but it's true nonetheless.

    1 out of 5 stars embarrassing.......2007-02-28

Seldom has so much talent (and MONEY!) been wasted on such unentertaining silliness.

Robin Williams, Dustin Hoffman, Maggie Smith, Julia Roberts, Bob Hoskins--it is painful to watch them cope with the bad writing, overemoting, over-elaborate (and dull) sets, and just general aimlessness of this picture.

Everybody works REALLY hard, and the strain shows.

The fun seems forced, the situations pointless, the message ham-handed, and the music--oh, my goodness--the music is the most syruppy mess this side of "Pearl Harbor."

Even the special effects are less than special.

All in all, very uncomfortable to sit through.

5 out of 5 stars A Fun and Amusing Continuation of a Wonderful Tale!.......2007-02-18

Peter Pan left Neverland and grew up. He married Wendy's granddaughter and had two kids. He is a succesful lawyer and makes almost no time for family. That's where Hook picks up. Steven Spielberg has created another wonderful film that is very entertaining and has an all-star cast, including Dustin Hoffman (Hook), Robin Williams (Peter Banning/Pan), Julia Roberts (Tinkerbell), and Maggie Smith (Wendy). The story begins when the an adult Peter Pan visits Wendy in London. His company is giving a wing in the local hospital to help Wendy adopt and care for orphans. Peter, his wife Moira, and Wendy go to a special ceremony, and when they return they discover that Peter's two kids have been kidnapped by Captain Hook. Peter must join up once again with Tinkerbell, and go back to Neverland to save his kids. In doing so, he must get training from the Lost Boys, who have a new leader, Rufio. They must teach him to fly, fight, and crow in order to save his kids.
This movie has a fun plot and a meaningful message. It teaches lessons about family and friendship, and it for sure will leave you in a better mood then you were in.

5 out of 5 stars Everbody Loves Hook!.......2007-01-04

If you need to buy a gift for a kid from ages 3-93, Hook is a good movie to purchase. It was great seeing Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman battling it out in NeverLand.

One day, everything is fine. The next day, the woman's husband dies in a car crash. The next day, she wakes up, and there he is drinking his morning coffee! The next day, he's dead again and funeral arrangements are being made! Every day of the week is a different day, and they are all mixed up! What is going on? Is the woman crazy, confused, or what?

Be prepared to keep guessing and to keep being wrong until the end of the film!

Sandra Bullock gives a great performance as the grief stricken widow Linda Hanson. This is a film you will want to see more than once to put the pieces together. It's part Sixth Sense, part Lake House, part something totally unique. Great movie!

This is where is the Lynchian nightmare began. Though he may have redefined surrealistic cinema in the 1980s and forever altered the face of television in the 90s, for many hardcore fans it is this infamous feature film debut that is David Lynch's crowning achievement. Many words have been used to describe Eraserhead (weird, bizarre, frustrating, enlightening, significant, unwatchable, meaningless, and momentous), but there is no denying it is completely unforgettable. As a surreal work of art, Eraserhead easily holds it own next to the works as Buñuel, Cocteau, and Dali. And like many surrealistic works, there is no clear answer on what Eraserhead "means." But, if you are trying to find a simple, linear, plot in Eraserhead, you are clearly missing the point. For Eraserhead is not simply a movie to view, but a true cinematic experience, like jumping into someone's nightmare and seeing it from their perspective. Whether you see it as a meditation on the terror of being a new parent, the suffocating feeling of living in an increasingly vapid, industrial wasteland, or a nightmare about the fear of loneliness, the film easily holds up to multiple viewings. And since this film is a dark visual ride and a supreme aural achievement, this long awaited, new transfer is an absolute blessing for David Lynch fans who will finally get to see, hear and experience Eraserhead clearly on DVD. Bizarre experiment? Surrealistic nightmare? Or a meaningless cult film? You be the judge. --Rob Bracco

    Description

Is it a nightmare or an actual view of a post-apocalyptic world? Set in an industrial town in which giant machines are constantly working, spewing smoke, and making noise that is inescapable, Henry Spencer lives in a building that, like all the others, appears to be abandoned. The lights flicker on and off, he has bowls of water in his dresser drawers, and for his only diversion he watches and listens to the Lady in the Radiator sing about finding happiness in heaven. Henry has a girlfriend, Mary X, who has frequent spastic fits. Mary gives birth to Henry's child, a frightening looking mutant, which leads to the injection of all sorts of sexual imagery into the depressive and chaotic mix.

5 out of 5 stars Great Movie, favorite line from a movie........2007-06-23

Either you will love it or you'll hate it. I love it. It has my favorite line. at the start of the movie. "they're not even sure it's a baby" the movie is best in an old rundown theatre around 3 in the morning.

    5 out of 5 stars Creepy.......2007-06-13

Well, this is a strange movie indeed and I have to disagree with some of the reviewers that say this isn't enjoyable to watch or very entertaining,I think it is extremely fun to watch and extremely entertaining. This is the most creepy, depressing movie that I've ever seen. The one thing that I do know is that this movie is supposed to be a dream(or a nightmare I should say). I've also had the idea of turning a dream into a film(or a film into a dream)and can see that David Lynch had that same thought almost forty years ago and pulls it off perfectly. If you have one of those dream trans-later books lying around it would probably help to dig it out for a viewing of "Eraserhead".
I believe in actuality that Henry Spencer is a normal man with a some-what
normal life and that we are just witnessing his dreams and his doubts about life, lack of communication in his relationship, doubts of being a father, loneliness, suicide and the after-life.I don't think anybody really knows what the message is behind "Eraserhead or if there is a message but thats the great thing about it.Oh yeah, and THE LADY IN THE RADIATOR REALLY CREEPS ME OUT.

5 out of 5 stars Unquestionably the strangest film I have ever seen........2007-06-02

I've watched several David Lynch films before and now that I've finally watched Eraserhead, I feel that I have a deeper understanding of Lynch and his films.

I think a lot of people who have watched Eraserhead have probably said, "What the hell was that? That was boring, pointless, pretentious and made no sense whatsoever." On the other end of the spectrum, many people might try to find some meaning with the film and try to make sense of Eraserhead in terms of it's imagery and the narrative.

I think they're both missing the point.

Eraserhead is a film that you surrender yourself to and absorb. It's a work of art, a dark, surreal painting with real people that has been committed to film. It's a gateway into the psyche and unconsciousness of a young artist (at the time) named David Lynch. The film is an experience - probably as close as you'll ever get to being able to watch someone's darkest, strangest dream unfold on your home theatre.

So is it good art? I think so. Good art should provoke a reaction in the person experiencing it, and Eraserhead certainly did that for me. It left me feeling unsettled and bewildered but at the same time I had the thrill of knowing I had just watched something completely unique, haunting, funny and in it's own weird way, beautiful.

Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Eraserhead certainly isn't for everyone, but I recommende it for film buffs, David Lynch fans and anyone who thinks movies can be more than just mindless entertainment.

    4 out of 5 stars cult film.......2007-05-25

It was near impossible to find until it came out on DVD. Strange film you should probably watch more than once. You have to be a little twisted to even want it, so it fit in our film library just fine.

5 out of 5 stars the best orignal movie ever...Masterpiece.......2007-05-23

this is Eraserhead you don't like it...don't watch it... nothing more to comment

The combination of choleric, combustible Oliver Hardy and mild, perpetually helpful Stan Laurel sustained dozens upon dozens of comedies, including the popular Way Out West. What makes this hour-long feature stand out is not just the physical hijinks (of which there are plenty), but the moments of surprising elegance, like a supple soft-shoe duet accompanied by what can only be called cowboy doo-wop. The plot concerns keeping the deed to a gold mine out of the hands of a greedy saloonkeeper (frequent comic foil James Finlayson), but it's just a pretext for gleeful slapstick orchestrations. Laurel & Hardy II also includes the underrated Block-Heads, another hour-long feature which starts out in the trenches of World War I and ends in a 13th floor apartment in New York; domestic strife and even lost limbs become fodder for jokes, yet the movie never feels cruel or ghoulish. It's the lightheartedness of their brutal mishaps that marks their success. Both features are from the late 1930s. An additional short from 1931, Chickens Come Home, features Hardy running for mayor and trying to squelch his past indiscretions, with Laurel as his right-hand man. No matter the circumstances, they wear bowler hats; wherever they go, madcap devastation follows. --Bret Fetzer

    Product Description

    Way out west (1937)
while trying to deliver the deed for valuable gold mine to the daughter of a dead prospector, stand and Ollie run into her evil guardian, who wants to keep the gold mine for himself. One of Laurel & Hardy s funniest full- length feature film and their only western spoof!

    Block-Heads(1938)
Stan and Ollie are first seen as soldiers with the AEF in France in 1917. Stan receives orders to stay in the trench and guard his post while the rest of the company makes a sweeping attack. Time passes indeed, 20 years go by and Stan is seen still faithful to his charge. Stan is finally told that the war is over; he returns home and is reunited with Ollie. It is immediately evident that Stan has not changed, and he is still as big a blockhead as he used to be.

    Chickens Come home
Ollie, running for mayor, is blackmailed by an old flame. Illie agrees to meet both his old girlfriend and his wife at the same time. Stan gets cough in the middle and unbridled commotion results.

I liked the whole DVD but I was hooked after watching Stan Laurel getting tickled in one of the scenes in Way out West, say no more, just watching Stan in that scene had me in stitches. I have always liked Laurel & Hardy and I would like to own more of these DVD's.

5 out of 5 stars Two Classic Comic Actors in Three Classic Comedies .......2007-03-10

Not much more than the three titles here - the "extras" aren't much - but here we have very fine DVD pressings of top drawer L & H. Some lesser known Stan & Ollie flicks from the non-independent, large-scale studios in the following decade have been released recently, and though they have historical significant and some sporadic fun (if you can supress your "couda-shoulda" button), they only emphasize the often brilliant and heartwarming stuff which really made them famous. We have three examples here: a 1937 trip out West, about one hour long, yet absolutely loaded with inventive gags (though a midnight attempt to hoist Ollie to the second floor of Finlayson's Saloon is badly dragged out) and clever dialogue. Ofcourse, the performances are great, and in Way Out West have the added dimension of music and "magic". While Hardy tries to plot out the rescue of a young lady and her deed to a goldmine, Laurel constantly befuddles his partner with all kinds of reality manipulations - like using his thumb as a lighter!
The next year, they produced a partial remake of their very first "talkie" - it's fun to compare Unaccustomed As We Are from '29 to Blockheads. The later film is far better and contains much pathos. Hardy's wife, who starts off her day reminding her husband that he forgot their anniversary, then returns to find old buddy Stan lounging about, delivers an incredible, drammaticly schizophrenic display - one of the great moments in comedy history. Ultimately, it is typical L & H - Ollie's new found respectability is torn asunder by the well-meaning but completely incompetent Stan, who wrecks his car, his apartment...and his marriage. By the end of the film he flees with his friend from his home and a violent neighbor who believes he is a filanderer.
The 1931 short-subject is an hilarious work - again Ollie is on the threshold of true acceptance in high society, until Mae Busch shows up to upset his political plans, his marriage, and Stan himself in a wild wrestling match outside of her hotel suite. This is perhaps her sexiest performance - and her attitude is all business - she wants her share of the success. Her acting is bit more nuanced than usual - she projects admiration and revulsion of Hardy at the same time.
Side note: I've read of the Spanish-language version of this film and hope that it can become available through this company.

    4 out of 5 stars Block - Heads.......2007-02-19

I (Jim McCutcheon) saw this film way back in the 50's and it cracked me up. I have hankered for it for some time and althouh I have matured somewhat (68years) still found if highly amusing, and thanks to Amazon, now have a copy for myself.

I would class it as one of Laurel and Hardy's better efforts.

    Cheers,
    Jim.

    5 out of 5 stars Prefontaine.......2007-06-27

Great movie for the track athlete and/or track fan. Interesting look at an athlete who has transcended death and time to become a model for aspiring runners. Even if you don't run, Pre's attitude toward his training and competition teaches a valuable lesson in giving whatever you do in life your best effort.

4 out of 5 stars Coaching Track & Cross Country.......2007-05-12

We rented PREFONTAINE and had a pizza/movie social night for our team this spring. Most of the kids had never heard of this athlete, and they really enjoyed the show! They want to see another running movie-- this time featuring less white people! :)

    5 out of 5 stars Excellent.......2007-05-12

It encourage me to try harder in running. Excellent movie. My daughter is an athlete 5 mile runner and she improved from 5:20 to 5:10 within a month. the 800 from 2:30 to 2:23.

4 out of 5 stars A very good film about a person I'd never heard of before.......2007-03-27

Not being into track and field i had never heard of Steve Prefontaine or his remarkable story. Jered Leto is very engaging as the runner with gold medal hopes and talent to spare and makes this movie "run" (sorry had to say that). Well worth the time and effort to find and watch this one.

    3 out of 5 stars motivational ?.......2007-03-12

If you are looking for a fair balance between biographical and motivational, then this is your book. However, if you you are looking for a strongly motivating audio-visual material (e.g. preparing for a race), the movie is just not enough. More workout scenes would have required. No matter, Jared Lareto is great. On the whole, it is worthwile buying this book !

Well I am glad that Fox Video FINALLY made this Nerd quadrilogy set. Frankly I was hoping that they would've just gone and put Nerds III and Nerds IV back to back like they did I & 2. But they didn't. This means that I will have to part with my Nerds I & Nerds II DVD and buy this one. I think all four of them are awesome however I think they could've kept the same cast members in ALL four because Robert Caradine seems to be the only one who comes back in ALL four. I will say this, Latimore and Booger make come backs. Anyway, my comments go to Fox Video "WAY TO GO" I am glad you put this out.

This is one of those movies series that when I think about they remind me of all the saturdays in middle school where I would stay up till 4am watching all the old movies my parents and much-older siblings had laying around in our movie collection.

'Revenge of the Nerds' is the perfect middle-school/high-school movie in every since of the phrase. It is cheap/slackstick/sexual humor, but unlike a lot of newer movies along the same lines ('American Pie,' 'Eurotrip,' 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin') it never feel gratuitous, eventhough the language is much more questionable. The plot itself follows two best-friend nerds durring their fall semester of their freshman year. When they are kicked out of the dorms, they along with fellow 'outcasts' band together and start their own fraturnity and cause problems for their fellow Fraturnity full of Jocks.

The Second movies features almost all of the entire original cast (Anthony Edwards only appears in the first 3-minutes of the film), as they take a trip down the Miami for a natual 'Fraturnity Leadership Meeting' and of course chaos insues.

The third film takes place a good 10/15 years after the events of the second movie, and thus has a completly different tone than the previous two. This movie was original made-for-TV so already from the beginning the humor is more slapstick (and much less sexual), and its dare-I-say almost 'family freiendly'. In the movie Louis' nephue moves off to college to find the college overrun with Nerds, but the Dean trying to get rid of them all.

The Fourth (and final film) I have only viewed once, but it is another 'made-for-tv' movie that follows the surviving nerds (now in their late 30s/early 40s) getting married and starting their families.

The teaming of Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn would seem to have been sure-fire casting, but Housesitter's writing is never strong enough to sustain it and the film's hit-and-miss quality has more misses than hits. Martin plays an architect who builds his dream house for his high school sweetheart (Dana Delany), then surprises her with a marriage proposal--both of which she rejects. Distraught, he goes back to New York and pours out his heart to a woman he meets in a bar and beds (Hawn), not realizing she is a flaky con artist. She knows a good thing when she hears it and heads for his hometown, moves into the empty dream house, and begins passing herself off as Martin's new wife. Though the writers build in a variety of complications (involving Delany, as well as Martin's parents and boss), the film finds its jokes only in fits and starts, though Martin has a particularly hilarious moment when he must sing to his father in front of a crowd of strangers. --Marshall Fine

    4 out of 5 stars Martin & Hawn a great duo.......2007-06-16

I love these two together. This movie is very funny and I think the craziness of Hawn versus the uptight Martin are great.
    Oh...and I love that house!

    5 out of 5 stars Housesitters.......2007-06-08

This movie is one of Goldies best and Steve Martin does great as the straight guy.....a real keeper.

    3 out of 5 stars Great casting, in a light feel-good movie.......2007-03-15

This is a charming, light, sweet screwball comedy, with an excellent ensemble cast all wonderful in their roles. Goldie Hawn beautifully plays a charming, off-beat con artist, whose pathological lying and skewed take on reality unwittingly lead her to bring about genuine love and kindness. Along the way, she reunites a family; sheds light on the old flame of her "victim" Steve Martin (exposing the motivations of the woman who broke his heart); and creates two new families -- proving that, in the movies at least, you may be able to make a silk purse from a sow's ear.

The couple Goldie's character enlists to play her parents are delightful. So are the small-town characters and situations. Though the overall plot may be somewhat predictable, enough surprises are sprinkled throughout to make the film enjoyable watching, again and again. Heartwarming moments, and the lack of the modern age's gross-out techniques, are huge pluses, to this viewer. Fans of whimsical, somewhat innocent light comedy likely will enjoy this film.

Steve and Goldie have great chemistry in "Housesitter." Their roles here lack the sometimes-shrillness that marred their later pairing in the remake of "The Out-Of-Towners" (a film which did have some funny moments, by Steve, Goldie, and the hilarious John Cleese). Well-written and well-acted subtlety make "Housesitter" a charming film to enjoy watching again over the years.

Steve Martin's wonderful dancing and physical comedy skills are not used a lot in "Housesitter," but his great performance doesn't require them. In fact, this role allows him to demonstrate his skill in pathos and dramatic acting. (For a side-splittingly funny movie that showcases his excellence in dancing and physical comedy, there is the hilarious "All of Me," whose wonderful cast includes superb performances by Lily Tomlin, Jason Bernard, Richard Libertini, and Victoria Tennant.)

    4 out of 5 stars A funny romantic comedy.......2007-01-26

This movie is a fun "Cinderella" type story. Steve Martin is funny as always and Goldie Hawn is superb! It is a romantic comedy full of fun, entertaining twists. I've watched this movie over and over and love it every time!

    5 out of 5 stars The Housesitter.......2007-01-04

Great film. Steve Martin, Goldie Hawn and Dana Delany are fantastic in this enjoyable, fun moview. Both Steve and Goldie are hard for any others to match. They easily switch from comedians to serious. A film you'll enjoy watching repeatedly.

This warm romantic comedy by newcomer Maria Maggenti is a gay coming-of-age story framed by Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass. Randy (Laurel Hillman) is a stoner, lesbian teenager who happens to be failing math and dating a married woman. One day, fellow student Evie (Nicole Parker) drives up to Randy's gas station in a Range Rover and flips her world upside down. Evie is privileged and popular. Randy is poor, impulsive, and according to the other students, a freak. Opposites attract when the two girls kick off their friendship in detention. The flirtation blossoms after Evie introduces tomboyish Randy to the joys of Whitman and opera. Randy returns the favor by acquainting the sheltered Evie with the problems and delights of mature, taboo love. There is a beautiful scene where the two consummate their courtship on Evie's birthday while Mom is out of town. The true test of their relationship occurs during the hilarious climax when angry families and friends chase the troubled girls into hiding. --Margaret Griffis

    5 out of 5 stars Movie.......2007-03-22

I have not seen this movie as of yet. Looking forward to it though.

    3 out of 5 stars It's ok.......2007-03-16

Not a great movie. In my opinion the performances didn't convince me (actually I was kind of disappointed with Laurel Holloman) and I couldn't trully get involved with the characters or the story. And to be honest found it kind of boring.Nicole Ari Parker is great though.

4 out of 5 stars Truely Unbelivable Story Line.......2007-01-05

This is a cute coming to understand yourself story. Very low budget flick. I think it is something teen lesbians or I dono if I am a lesbian people should see. One of the main 2 characters is now a main character on the L Word, so that was very interesting to see; it was quite a surprise also. I would recommend people to see it; all in all.

5 out of 5 stars The Incredibly True Adventures of Two Girls in Love.......2006-11-25

The movie shows the real meaning of love, for 2 girls that care so much about each other, would do what they did in order to be with one another, the movie is now and forever will be my favorite, for i have come to know that my soul mate is out their and it for shall be a woman.

    4 out of 5 stars Highly entertaining.......2006-11-03

This movie, although the story is unreal, is highly entertaining and well worth watching. I love the fact that the two girls are so different. One is so sure of herself and her sexuality and the other is slowly awakening. The scene were the mother enters the bedroom and goes crazy finding the two girls in bed together is a hoot.
