Two Hours You Will Never Get Back.......2003-01-15
The word travesty repeatedly comes to mind.
Like, I sit here, and I can't think of a worse movie... and it's not because I didn't understand it. I know what gay people do and I know how black people act; I know what they were trying to portray. The writers, directors, and actors were all simply too inexperienced to translate it into comedy.
Aside from the misused comedic elements, (which is a MAJOR infraction, since they routinely yeild a successfully funny film when used correctly), the movie just didn't flow well at all. I dare anyone who is not an experienced urbanite to rent this film and follow it. Did Tiny die or not? If so, which I think he did, then why did he appear at the end? And from what did he die? Drug overdose or Incesant Coughing Disease? These questions, among others, aren't answered in the movie, regardless of how IMPORTANT they appear to be.
Unless you want to get me started on the film's acting (or, lack thereof), then I'll close by simply stating that I can't think of a more wasteful way to spend four bucks and two hours. It really should have come with a little syringe full of heroine. Yes, it's that bad.
Some Funny Scenes worth checking out..........2002-11-27
David and Wayne are two homophobic construction workers. After a misunderstanding which quickly gets out of hand and escalates to violence, an unsympathetic judges sentences them to.. Beauty School. Yes, that's right folks... Forget the Hospital, the Highway trash pick up... Our heroes get hard time at a beauty academy.
At the school David falls for one of the managers, a woman named Aqua. Determined to win her, David pretends to be gay in order to become her friend. (Groan). During the process, David, does not grow or change (rather unsatisfying character development in my opinion), but Aqua doesn't seem to care! She loves him anyway! (Please.. Girl... This is the 21rst century!).
I really found this movie to be light-hearted and amusing, despite the fact that lying, cheating and intolerant behavior appear to be rewarded, and our hero David, never apologizes or shows much remorse to Tiny for throwing him through the window, nor does he really grow much as a person. (Sigh). Still, there were some good lines, which make this one worth checking out.
