    The Mummy
If you're expecting bandaged-wrapped corpses and a lurching Boris Karloff-type villain, then you've come to the wrong movie. But if outrageous effects, a hunky hero, and some hearty laughs are what you're looking for, the 1999 version of The Mummy is spectacularly good fun. Yes, the critics called it "hokey," "cheesy," and "pallid." Well, the critics are unjust. Granted, the plot tends to stray, the acting is a bit of a stretch, and the characters occasionally slip into cliché, but who cares? When that action gets going, hold tight--those two hours just fly by.

The premise of the movie isn't that far off from the original. Egyptologist and general mess Evelyn (Rachel Weisz) discovers a map to the lost city of Hamunaptra, and so she hires rogue Rick O'Connell (Brendan Fraser) to lead her there. Once there, Evelyn accidentally unlocks the tomb of Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo), a man who had been buried alive a couple of millennia ago with flesh-eating bugs as punishment for sleeping with the pharaoh's girlfriend. The ancient mummy is revived, and he is determined to bring his old love back to life, which of course means much mayhem (including the unleashing of the 10 plagues) and human sacrifice. Despite the rather gory premise, this movie is fairly tame in terms of violence; most of the magic and surprise come from the special effects, which are glorious to watch, although Imhotep, before being fully reconstituted, is, as one explorer puts it, rather "juicy." Keep in mind this film is as much comedy as it is adventure--those looking for a straightforward horror pic will be disappointed. But for those who want good old-fashioned eye-candy kind of fun, The Mummy ranks as one of choicest flicks of 1999. --Jenny Brown

    The Mummy Returns
Proving that bigger is rarely better, The Mummy Returns serves up so much action and so many computer-generated effects that it quickly grows exhausting. In his zeal to establish a lucrative franchise, writer-director Stephen Sommers dispenses with such trivial matters as character development and plot logic, and charges headlong into an almost random buffet of minimum story and maximum mayhem, beginning with a prologue establishing the ominous fate of the Scorpion King (played by World Wrestling Federation star the Rock, in a cameo teaser for his later starring role in--you guessed it--The Scorpion King). Dormant for 5,000 years, under control of the Egyptian god Anubis, the Scorpion King will rise again in 1933, which is where we find The Mummy's returning heroes Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, now married and scouring Egyptian ruins with their 8-year-old son, Alex (Freddie Boath).

John Hannah (as Weisz's brother) and Oded Fehr (as mystical warrior Ardeth Bay) also return from The Mummy, and trouble begins when Alex dons the Scorpion King's ancient bracelet, coveted by the evil mummy Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo), who's been revived by... oh, but does any of this matter? With a plot so disposable that it's impossible to care about anything that happens, The Mummy Returns is best enjoyed as an intermittently amusing and physically impressive monument of Hollywood machinery, with gorgeous sets that scream for a better showcase, and digital trickery that tops its predecessor in ambition, if not in payoff. By the time our heroes encounter a hoard of ravenous pygmy mummies, you'll probably enjoy this movie in spite of itself. --Jeff Shannon

    The Scorpion King
There's nothing original in The Scorpion King, but this derivative action franchise gets off to a rousing start by cleverly stealing from a lot of better movies. Capitalizing on his brief cameo in The Mummy Returns, Dwayne Johnson (a.k.a. World Wrestling Federation star the Rock) stars as Mathayus, an Akkadian assassin in the age preceding Egyptian pharaohs, who vows to avenge his brother's murder by an undefeated warlord (Steven Brand) prophesied to become the desert-ruling Scorpion King. Their battle for supremacy comprises most of the film's brisk 95-minute running time, punctuated by comic relief from Mathayus's obligatory sidekick (Grant Heslov), romance with a beautiful sorceress (Kelly Hu), and alliance with a massive Nubian (Michael Clarke Duncan) on the eve of their climactic showdown. There's no rhyme or reason to the film's depiction of ancient civilization (the costuming is particularly ludicrous), but the Rock demonstrates adequate action-star potential, and director Chuck Russell (The Mask) wraps it all in a slick, professional package. --Jeff Shannon

4 out of 5 stars The Mummy Collection.......2007-06-27

I bought this for my dad for fathers day. He is a fan of the Mummy movies and for 15 it is a great deal.

5 out of 5 stars Great collection and great packaging........2007-06-04

I love the collection of movies or I would not have purchased them to begin with, but I equally love the way that this set comes packaged. All three discs are in the one case...not three seperate cases to take up unwanted space, and you can still clearly see the titles to all three discs.
If you have never seen the movies in this collection then I would have to say that if you like stories about Egypt, fiction or not, and you liek action, then this set is worth your time. It is action packed, great visual effects, good acting for the most part, and the storylines are good.
    It is worth the price!

4 out of 5 stars The Movies I love , but the boxset.............no so great.......2007-06-01

I love the Mummy and the Mummy returns. It has always been a favourite of mine but when i recieve it. It was Okay. The boxset was so cheap made. If the Box was made better, it would've been Okay. No wonder it was so cheap.

The Mummy is a collecter's edition with heaps of special features. I liked that about it, I do reccommend it to people that don't care how the boxset looks. but love the Movies.
Overall, I loved the movies at a great price.

5 out of 5 stars LOVE the Mummy!.......2007-05-17

Well, I love watchin Brandon Fraiser....what a hottie! Anyway, this is a GREAT deal! You can't beat it! You get all 3 of these movies for under $15! How awesome. If you tried to buy these somewhere else, it would cost you at least over $25 or more.

These movies are a must have!

    5 out of 5 stars I have not read the book....AND I AM GLAD!!!.......2007-06-18

Excellent..superb..well acted..well scripted..dark and brooding......I could go on and on! We review FILMS here at Amazon...not the book from which the film came! As a film, Patricia Rozema's adaptation of Jane Austen's MANSFIELD PARK stands on it's own as a stinging, satirical view of the life and times of one Fanny Price in 1806 England. All that is Austen, the "advantageous alliances" that are made through marriage, scandals that could kill a family's reputation, the pecking order of sons for inheritance, and the heart as the moral compass and guide are all here, and brought to the screen with great effect infused with a little bit of naughtiness and innuendo. This retelling of MANSFIELD PARK is so interesting and wonderfully reconceived that it far outweighs the BBC version for it's fresh and new characterizations of Fanny and the Bertrams and the Crawfords.

What I really like about this MANSFIELD PARK is Rozema's clever weaving of the English Slave Trade into the fiber of the film. No doubt this WAS THE hot topic of the time as in 1807 the trade of the Middle Passage WAS abolished in England.(See the current film AMAZING GRACE)Yes,people who sought their fortunes in it DID turn "to tobacco",which was the trade simply continued in America!!!

As far as performances...they are OUTSTANDING. Harold Pinter as Sir Thomas was played with great complexity and the late Sheila Gish as Fanny's Aunt is one of the best comedic turns yet for an Austen adaptation!

Lesley Barber's soundtrack is lush, romantic and also full of witty motifs to propel the action.

This MANSFIELD PARK is full of fine direction, sets, costumes and modern sensibility that makes the timeless Austen all the more compelling. The film never lags and is quite clever. 5******'s for Rozema's Austen!

4 out of 5 stars If You Don't Mind a little Affection between Cousins.......2007-05-24

I am always challenged in finding any kind of romance in the characters of Mansfield Park. They are cousins. Back in Ms. Austen's day, this was cool. To me, it is SO not.

This telling of the story, however, is really fun. I love the dramatic pauses at the end. I love the nasty Mrs. Norris. I love the artful Crawfords and the artless Edmund. Most of all, I LOVE Fanny, the smart creative Fanny that is presented in this movie. She totally makes the movie.

    (*)>

    4 out of 5 stars Most enjoyable.......2007-05-15

Most Janeites will disregard this film as not being true to the novel and claim the actors are too "pretty." I however, think this film is strong enough to stand on it's own without having to be completely true to the original. The characters are strong, the acting honest and raw, and Fanny is very funny, in a very Jane Austenesque subtle, ironic way. I am glad to own it.

4 out of 5 stars Great for romantic movie lovers, not so good for Austen purists.......2007-05-12

I wouldn't call myself an Austen purist, but I definitely compare the books with the movies I watch. For purists of Jane Austen's novel, this movie really tears the book apart substituting characters and cutting some out completely. But as a movie, Mansfield Park is one of my favorites. Most of the more recent Jane Austen adaptations really stole my heart in the movie category and this one was no exception. The heart of Jane Austen's story is still there and, as we all know, no one can write about love and romance quite like Jane Austen.

So purists: Beware! Dramatic and Romantic movie lovers: Check this one out!

4 out of 5 stars It is difficult to put Austen's work to film... .......2007-05-11

I always anticipate the difficulty of a relatively short film (2 hours or under) being able to fully bring to life the characters of ANY complex and beloved novel. Aside from maybe the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice, very few movies who aspire to bring Jane Austen's novels to life ever do. That being said. This movie is a piece of art in its own right, and also should be seen as such. I enjoyed this film. And while it did take many liberties, I still feel it was a genuinely well done movie. I LOVE Jane Austen's novels, for she was a woman entrenched in her time but also ahead of her time. I don't think she would take her stories to be sacrosanct, as many of her admirers and critics do. I enjoyed this cast and what the director did with the story. I was endeared to this Mansfield Park and the world that was created in it.

Call it Buffy the Culinary Slayer. Sarah Michelle Gellar, who usually runs around staking vampires and fighting demons, turns cute and cuddly as an aspiring chef in this magical-realist comedy that borrows a page--heck, whole chapters--from Like Water for Chocolate. Out at the market one day, Gellar stumbles on both a magical crab and the babelicious Sean Patrick Flanery who, wouldn't you know it, is opening up a posh restaurant at Bendel's department store (actually, the two have been brought together by fairy godfather Christopher Durang). Odd and implausible circumstances give these two cuties more opportunities to moon at each other, and suddenly Gellar's cooking takes off--turns out all her nicey-nice feelings towards Flanery are going into her cooking, with the help of that quiet but powerful little crab. Gellar's almost-closed restaurant starts to thrive, and her desserts begin making everyone horny. A cute premise that never really takes off, Simply Irresistible glides along on Gellar's charisma alone; in her off hours, Buffy certainly can be the lighthearted girl next door, and Gellar works to give some depth to her one-dimensional character. Flanery, though, while appealing at times, plays up his character's commitment-phobia to irritating degrees. Chock full of fairy-tale elements that never really come together (is that crab really necessary?), Irresistible does boast charming performances by Patricia Clarkson and Dylan Baker as Flanery's secretary and boss, respectively. However, it's a little odd to see these two, who scored raves for two serious and harrowing art-house flicks (Clarkson in High Art, Baker in Happiness) doing the light-and-fluffy romantic comedy thing. They're two of the very few ingredients that occasionally make this soufflé of a movie rise; at the end, however, it's flat as a pancake. --Mark Englehart

    Description

Beautiful restaurant owner Amanda Shelton (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is falling head over heels for handsome, hard-driving executive Tom Bartlett (Sean Patrick Flanery). Unfortunately, Tom is too busy to recognize that she's truly the girl of his dreams until Amanda puts him under her tantalizing spell!

    Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars If only they had cast Freddie Prinze Jr. .......2007-06-04

I thought Sean Patrick Flannery was too caddish to be believable as a foil for Sarah Michelle Gellar. She's very pretty in this movie but I found the movie awkward to watch. I think casting Freddie Prinze Jr. as a ruthless serial monogamist would have been a brave yet successful choice because the actor has the sensitivity and range to play a cold character that can still be believable as Sarah Michelle Gellar's love interest. Fans of The Wire will enjoy seeing The Greek and D'Angelo in the cast.

    4 out of 5 stars A Screwball Romance/Comedy with a Lot of Heart.......2007-05-09

I wonder what the suits in the room were thinking when they heard the concept of this movie:

"An angel and his magical crab help a good-hearted, but lousy chef save her dead mother's restaurant and the heart of a cynical handsome businessman."

    Jaws drop.

Suit #1: What an amazing idea!
Suit #2: A magical crab? Will it sing calypso music?
    Suit #3: Name it Sebastian!
    Suit #1: That's been done.
Idea Guy: No, no calypso. But great food. Mouthwatering. Sexy eclairs.
    Suit #2: Yes, yes! Marvelous!
Suit #1: Wait - what's an eclair? Some kind of doughnut?
Suit #2: No,it's an elongated pastry filled with custard or whipped cream.
    Suit #3: (chuckles,elbows Suit#1) O-kay. I get that metaphor.
Idea Guy: There's a scene where the magical crab wears a lettuce leaf and waves to the handsome businessman as he enters the kitchen.
Suit #3: (nods head excitedly) That is *exactly* the kind of movie we need to make!

This movie is odd in every sense, but that's why I like it. It's not your typical romance movie. Sarah Michelle Gellar is very sweet in this movie and there's a definite chemistry between her and Sean Patrick Flanery. This is a quirky, charming movie. Very adorable! Although Betty Buckley was wasted in this movie.

5 out of 5 stars A Magic movie for everybody.......2007-05-09

I bought this movie years ago, and everytime I see it again I really feel great. The romance in this movie give us the hope to have a better time every day, even the history is simple it has enough energy to touch our innerselves.
This movie is one of the romantic and delightful pictures I have ever see, mostly because of the great actors, Sarah Michelle really have chemistry with Sean Patrick.

    5 out of 5 stars Simply Irresistible..........2007-05-06

This was a simple, goofy, silly love fantasy. There was nothing believable throughout the entire DVD. That's why I enjoyed it so much. For some people, sometimes in their lives - the fantasy of love comes true. We should all be so lucky (sometimes we are - many are not!). The point: if true love presents itself to you, don't rationalize, take it, else it may NEVER come your way again!

    My rating: Five stars

3 out of 5 stars A series that never really lived up to its potential..........2007-07-03

Speaking on the behalf of all sci-fi fans who watched Space 1999 on its initial broadcast run, Gerry Anderson deserves our respect. With "Supermarination" like "Captain Scarlet," "Secret Service" and the "Thunderbirds," he raised the caliber of Saturday morning TV fare above the usual, two-dimensional animated cartoon.

With "Space 1999" he initiated a new renaissance in science fiction making it respectable with a broad appeal to audiences young and old alike. Not since "Star Trek" which made its debut in 1966, has there been another science fiction series on TV that has made a significant impact or has been more widely recognized.

To compare the two series would be unfair with Star Trek now having now reached the proportions of "epic" on par with the Illiad and the Odyssey in the realm of science fiction let alone the franchises the series has spawned. What detracts from the quality of Space 1999 is not the SFX (expertly orchestrated by Brian Johnson) or the quality of the acting from the leads, but rather, the implausibility of the plots. One tries very hard to enjoy Space 1999 like I have, but I like my science fiction with large dollops of science, and we live in an age where audiences have even a rudimentary understanding of physics and space travel. Sadly, this is the Achilles Heel of Space 1999; ridiculous plots at times matched with dull scripts with empty plots that approximate the size of a black hole.

The first season is generally considered the stronger of the two: the second noted for the addition of Maya (called a "Mr. Spock rip-off" by fans of Roddenberry), a resident of Moonbase Alpha and an alien that can morph into any living organism--an interesting, if wild stopgap to save the sagging ratings of the series at the time. Not surprisingly, many people are divided about Space 1999: people either hate it or love it.

This set, as a whole is wonderfully done and the 16 mm transfers to dvd are clean with a minimum of surface dirt and scratches. Included are interviews, some outtakes, commercials, etc. All in all, Space 1999 was significant because it illustrated the true potential that lay in science fiction paving the way for "Star Wars" and other epics that would follow.

Those interested in learning more about Space 1999, should pick up a copy of John Kenneth Muir's book-length study of the series, "Exploring Space 1999"--a fascinating read if you wish to know more about the series, its impact, and eventual demise.

3 out of 5 stars The question that needs to be asked..........2007-06-23

...is does this release contain season 1 episodes derived from the 2005 high-definition digital restoration? Or is it simply a repackaging of the previous Region 1 releases that claimed to be a remaster put pale in comparison. One way to tell is if Martin Landau's credit shot has him standing against a pristine clean & pure white background. Or does the quality of that shot vary between episodes and is generally soft, yellowish and covered in dirt & grain? If it's the latter the these are old versions.

3 out of 5 stars Entertaining, But Show Suffered from Unbelievable Physics, Insufficiently Developed Characters & Poor Writing.......2007-06-08

"Space 1999" was a mid-1970's sci-fi television series that lasted for two seasons with a 1-year hiatus in between the two. The brainchild of Gerry & Sylvia Anderson, "Space 1999" was their second live-action TV series that followed their earlier live-action TV series "UFO" (1969-1970) and several TV series that used marionettes, including the very popular show "The Thunderbirds".

The primary fictional plot of "Space: 1999" was unusual to say the least: following years of mankind using Earth's moon as an off-world storage facility for nuclear waste, a massive explosion occurs at one of the waste facilities that supposedly provides sufficient force to cause the moon to escape not only the Earth's gravity, but the Sun's gravity as well, and head into deep space at an extreme speed so that over the course of the series, the moon can travel through an assortment of star systems with inhabitable planets and alien life. To monitor & manage the nuclear waste sites and carry out scientific experiments, a manned lunar base was created called "Moonbase Alpha" with a population of slightly over 300 personnel, including Commander John Keonig (Martin Landau) and Doctor Helena Russell (Barbara Bain). In the show's premiere episode in which the massive explosion occurs, Commander Keonig makes the decision that rather than try to evacuate Moonbase Aphla and return to Earth (which is rapidly getting farther away), that the occupants of Moonbase Alpha should remain on the moon for an unknown fate in deep space.

Naturally, there are several basic problems with this plot. Before proceeding, let us consider the physics involved in reaching escape velocity. In order for an object in orbit around a more massive object to reach escape velocity, it must have a sufficient increase in energy. Earth's moon orbits the Earth at approximately 2286 mph relative to the Earth; but the Earth orbits the sun at roughly 66,542 mph. If the moon left Earth orbit, it would need an escape velocity equivalent to 3233 mph relative to the Earth (an increase in speed of 947 mph); but this would only place the moon into a new orbit around the Sun. So, to leave the Solar System entirely, the moon would need to reach a speed of roughly 94,105 mph, or an increase in speed of roughly 27,563 mph. So, the amount of energy that would be required to increase the moon's speed from an average of 66,542 mph to 94,105 mph relative to the sun would be roughly equivalent to 7,783,000,000,000,000 megatons of TNT, which is considerably more than the combined yield of every nuclear bomb currently on the Earth being detonated at the same time. Alternatively, if the moon ejected part of its mass, it would also have an increase in velocity. To reach an escape speed of 94,105 mph relative to the sun, it would need to loose approximately 29% of its current mass. Of course, either the explosion or mass ejection would need to occur at a precise location of the moon relative to the Earth & Sun and in a relative direction to both.

So, taking the above physics into account, if a massive explosion occurred with sufficient force to allow the moon to escape not only the Earth's gravity, but the Sun's as well, such an explosion would either probably destroy the moon in the process, or, at the very least, would leave a massive crater since the nuclear waste stockpiles were below ground. However, in "Space 1999", all views of the moon following the explosion never show a massive crater, nor do they indicate that the Earth was ever bombarded with ejected lunar material following the explosion.

Next, let's consider the moon's velocity. If the moon left the Earth and Solar System at a speed of roughly 94,105 mph, it would take the moon thousands of years before it reached the next nearest star (Alpha Centauri), which is roughly 4.5 lightyears away. So, in order for the moon to periodically visit planets orbiting other stars (within weeks or months of each visit), the moon would have to be traveling at a speed approaching the speed of light (approximately 186,000 miles per second) between visits (so that time dilation causes the moon's inhabitants to see little time passage), but then slow way down to give the moon's inhabitants time to visit the alien planets. Or, perhaps the moon is traveling through multiple wormholes conveniently positioned so that the entrance & exit points always occur near inhabited alien planets.

So, in order for the moon in "Space: 1999" to leave Earth's orbit completely intact after a massive explosion and regularly visit inhabited alien planets orbitting distant stars within weeks & months of each other, some very unbelievable physics would have to occur. Next, given the moon's inhabitants only number around 311 individuals and given that 1 or 2 people usually get killed in each episode, the moon's population after two seasons (48 episodes) would be closer to 230 people; but this decrease in population is never discussed during the show. Next, there are the spacecraft used by the moon's inhabitants. Called "Eagles", the spaceships are not particularly stable in design as they are held together only by a long metal grid along the top of each craft. Amazingly, when the middle passenger compartment is released, the ship remains completely stable even though it's just a long metal grid holding the cockpit on one end and the main engines on the other. If this ship was actually constructed, it is not likely to survive traveling through a planet's atmosphere, especially during re-entry. Further, if the moon is traveling near the speed of light in order to travel between stars light years apart in a matter of weeks or months, the Eagles would need to be faster-than-light vehicles; but since they appear to use chemical propellant, faster-than-light travel with such small fuel tanks appears highly unlikely. Again, unbelievable physics comes into play.

As a child, I enjoyed watching "Space: 1999"; but given that it was only on for two seasons (with very different casts between seasons), it's obvious that not many people were interested in watching the show. In comparison with the original "Star Trek" series which also had some rather remarkable physics occurring, the extraordinary physics in "Star Trek" is far more explainable than what was being shown in "Space: 1999". So, given that "Space: 1999" was not particularly believable from a scientific perspective, did it make up for poor physics with strong character development or excellent writing? Sadly, the answer to both of these questions is generally "no". Commander Keonig was not particularly approachable and Doctor Russell was often quite strange. The most interesting character was during the show's first season (1975-1976): the aging scientist Prof. Victor Bergman (Barry Morse). Unfortunately, he was replaced with the shape-shifting alien character Maya (Catherine Schell) during the second season (1977-1978) following its one-year hiatus. Sadly, the majority of minor cast characters that added depth to the show during its first season did not return for the second season. One of the few minor characters that did return was Eagle pilot Alan Carter (Nick Tate). Minor character Sandra Benes (Zienia Merton) appeared in some second season episodes, but was in virtually every first-season episode. Because the second season had fewer regular characters than the first, it's writing was geared primarily around the few regular characters, which included Subcommander Tony Verdeschi (Tony Anholt), who became romantically involved with Maya. The love interest between Keonig & RUssell was often downplayed during the first season, but became more apparent in the second season. The cast's uniforms & overall appearance of Moonbase Alpha were quite different from the first season with a lot more color. Where they found the time & resources on Moonbase Alpha to make such improvements was never explained during the second season.

As an interesting side note, what many "Space: 1999" viewers never knew was that Moonbase Alpha was originally intended to be an improved moonbase for the planned second season of the Andersons' earlier live-action show "UFO". However, the Anderson's decided to abandon the more interesting plotline & characters in "UFO" for the less believable "Space: 1999" plot line. For those unfamiliar with "UFO", it was about a fictitious secret agency named SHADO whose purpose was to defend Earth & humanity from mysterious aliens bent on kidnapping humans and using them either as robotic slaves or spare parts. SHADO defended Earth from a small moonbase with several armed spaceships, as well as specialized submarines, ground assault vehicles & aircraft on Earth itself. In my opinion, character development in "UFO" was greatly superior to that of "Space: 1999" and the individual episodes were also far more interesting & entertaining.

That being said, the most notable first season episodes in "Space: 1999" were "Breakaway", "War Games", "Voyager's Return", "Alpha Child", "Dragon's Domain", "Mission of the Darians", "Black Sun", "The Guardian of Piri", "End of Eternity", "Earthbound", "Another Time, Another Place", "The Infernal Machine", "Ring Around the Moon", "The Last Sunset", "The Testament of Arcadia" and "The Last Enemy". The most notable second season episodes were "The Exiles", "AB Chysalis", "The Bringers of Wonder Parts 1 & 2" and "The Immunity Syndrome". As this list of episodes implies, the second season was far less interesting than the first.

Picture and sound quality on the "Space: 1999" DVD's has been very good. Some longer scenes that were not originally aired in the U.S. don't always maintain the same high picture & sound quality. If you are considering purchase of this repackaged set of "Space: 1999", then this would be the set to purchase given it's much lower price. Overall, I give the "Space: 1999" TV series 3 out of 5 stars.

    5 out of 5 stars Great price.......2007-05-27

I've been meaning to buy the Space 1999 Megaset for over a year now, but priced at $179.99, it was never in my budget. I'm glad to see that they've lowered that price, considerably. I ordered it in a heartbeat. And believe it or not, I've never seen a single episode of Space 1999 before. But being a Star Trek/Star Wars fan, I've always been sure that I'd enjoy this show too. Having never seen the show before, I never new whether it was a half-hour or hour-long show. Amazon confused matters for me too, because they list the running time as 999 minutes on the "old" megaset, which led me to believe that each episode was a half-hour. That also contributed to my unwillingness to spend $179.99 on the collection. For this 30th anniversary set they list the running time at 2496 minutes, so I guess it's an hour-long show. What a bargain. I can't wait to explore the world of Space 1999.

4 out of 5 stars Great Show, but a questionable rerelease.......2007-05-19

I'm always happy to see 1999 get a release, but I do question the "digitally remastered" claim on the box. The first season released by A&E was very badly done, with some real glitches. A few episodes didn't seem remastered at all and the volume on the sound of the episodes varies. Some eps are soft while others are nice and loud. However, the complete second season looks and sounds stunning.

The UK DVD company, Network, released a first season set overseas and those prints WERE remastered and they look fantastic. Now, if A&E put those on the discs, then fine. But since the extras are identical to the prior release, this seems to be nothing more than a repackaging.

4 stars for the show, no stars for the "remastering"...if they're the same prints.

Strictly for kids, this 1999 live-action feature version of the popular cartoon series seems long even at 80 minutes. As a video, it's easier to take and appreciate for what works best in the story: the special effects. Matthew Broderick plays the security guard who is physically transformed into a multi-use cyborg with a zillion attachments, from stilts to helicopter blades to skis. A crimefighter in raincoat and fedora, and equipped with a nifty Gadgetmobile, the hero investigates the death of a man linked to the villainous Sanford Scolex (Rupert Everett). Scolex, who blames Gadget for having to wear a prosthetic hand, develops an evil robot twin of the good inspector, causing much mischief and giving Broderick an opportunity to poke fun at his own performance of the virtuous Inspector. The action is shaky, the script plods along, and the effects soon take over; Everett has to go to the extremes of hamminess just to be seen above it. But children of a certain age will almost certainly engage with the more clever stuff and forgive the rest. --Tom Keogh

This movie was not as good as the second gadget movie. It was funny, and that was the best part. Claw was a very bad villian, so I was into that. I like villians.

The first time that I wanted to rent it at blockbuster, my Dad thought that it may be inappropriate. Then he changed his mind. We watched it together, and like it very much. It was so good that I know own it on DVD.

This capable and intelligent adaptation of Charles Dickens's classic novel is one in a long line of Great Expectations put to film. But this two-part drama distinguishes itself with its faithfulness to the book and outstanding performances by the principal cast. Ioan Gruffudd plays the adult Pip, an orphan who lives with his sister and her kindly blacksmith husband. Pip's life changes when he is sent for by Miss Haversham (Charlotte Rampling), an eccentric and wealthy spinster who wears only her bridal gown, which she was wearing when she was left at the altar years before. Introduced to Estella (played later as a woman by Justine Waddell), Miss Haversham's contemptuous ward, Pip falls in love with the girl and spends the remainder of his youth attempting to be good enough for her--a state of affairs that suddenly seems possible when a mysterious benefactor makes Pip's education as a London gentleman possible. Gruffudd is a fine choice for the central character, and his naturally intense expression underscores Pip's problems with insecurity and sense of deservedness. Waddell is an appropriately solipsistic Estella, slightly reminiscent of Vivien Leigh, and Rampling's casting is an unexpected but terrific move on the filmmaker's part. The veteran actress's career-long air of mystery, vague suffering, and intense sexuality bring a potent power to Miss Haversham's baleful looks. Dickens would be proud of this one. --Tom Keogh

    Description

Ioan Gruffudd, Justine Waddell and Charlotte Rampling star in this adaptation of Charles Dickens' enduring classic Great Expectations, the story of a young orphan named Pip who lives with his sister and her blacksmith husband, Joe.

One day Pip is sent to play at the residence of Miss Havisham, a frightening, elderly woman who seems locked in the past. She wears ancient bridal attire and never moves from the dusty upper rooms of her home. Miss Havisham's beautiful but contemptuous ward, Estella, makes Pip feel appallingly inferior, creating in him a desire to better himself—changing his life forever. But despite his efforts to improve himself, the frustrated Pip seems destined to remain Joe's apprentice. Until one day a lawyer calls to inform Pip that he has "great expectations:" Pip is to be released form his apprenticeship and educated in London as a gentleman! The benefactor who has made this life transformation possible, however, wishes to remain anonymous.

1 out of 5 stars Mr. Dickens' Divorce Tells in this Story........2007-04-06

The story focuses upon a young man, who desires a young woman, who is pretty but immature, and makes a fool of him. The attractive, but deceitful charm of the pretty young woman leaves the young man empty, and so you.

The 1981-version has a better first episode; but then drags painfully. Both versions have some strange scenes.

The 1947-version is much better, with John Mills, father of Haley Mills.

Mr. Dickens wrote the story "Great Expectations" in 1861, after leaving his wife. Mr. Dickens married his wife Catherine in 1836. They were together 21-years; during which he wrote his brilliant novels: "Oliver Twist"-1839, "A Christmas Carol"-1843, and "David Copperfield"-1850. Mr. Dickens left his wife in 1858.

Unlike "Great Expectations", Mr. Dickens's great novels have a high-minded thought; balance with moments of cheer, triumph for the main character, adventure, and interesting characters. A novel is not a classic just because it is: old, assigned in English class, and written by the writer of other novels indeed brilliant. "Great Expectations" has portions which show Mr. Dickens's talent; however overall it lacks the charm and elements that make his other stories enjoyable, true, classics.

Walt Disney, usually brilliant, made the poor decision to go from one feature length animation film at a time, directly, to working on three such films at a time, over-extending and nearly bankrupting the company, as World War II closed Europe to Disney. The Disneys saved the studio, only, by becoming a public corporation, giving up total family control and ownership. Mr. Disney's poor decision followed the tragic death of his beloved mother, caused by a leaking gas heater, that had supposedly been repaired by a Disney studio mechanic the day before. Mr. Disney hurried to use work as a distraction from his grief. (This is also likely the reason Bambi's mother is killed.) Mr. Disney eventually bounced back. Divorce is also traumatic, even if for the better. I do not judge Mr. Dickens's divorce. I do say Mr. Dickens's divorce from the mother of his ten children affected his writing, and for the worse, telling in the empty "Great Expectations".

2 out of 5 stars The Production is Great......But dont Buy this DVD .......2007-04-05

Even though I have never read the book I found this Production very good.
I would recommend this to any one who is a Dickens Fan but do youself a favour and dont buy this DVD release.
As a British review on Amazon uk site indicated this DVD looks as if it was copied straight off the TV and also the commentary in the beginning and end of the movie telling us about the Great Expectations novel made the DVD worse.
Masterpiece Theatre has spoiled this Great BBC Production of Dickens Great Expectations with it's Commentary (even though they think they are being helpful- but are not) and poor DVD.
Four Stars for the Production itself but giving this Two stars because of the DVD quaility.
Wait until BBC Release a DVD of the Production and the DVD quaility will be much, much better.
I will be selling this DVD and wait until BBC release the DVD in Australia.

2 out of 5 stars bad DVD production.......2007-03-02

The video quality of this fine adaptation is terrible. I've been waiting years for a DVD release only to be dissapointed by the poor video transfer to DVD.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent film adaptation.......2007-01-23

Charles Dickens triumphs once more. This excellent film adaptation of the masterpiece novel manages to be somewhat dark, gritty, and mysterious, and still maintain quirky memorable characters and a tangled web of plots in the typical Dickens way. Justine Waddell's performance as the icy Estella (a very different role from her warm character in "Wives and Daughters") is perfect, complimented by Ioan Gruffud's dramatic display as the hero of story, Pip. The movie is fairly true to the book, and likewise manages to be ambiguous, but satisfying. Fans of Dickens work will not want to miss this instant classic, and anyone looking for a good drama with mystery and character study will not be disappointed.

4 out of 5 stars Great Expectations Box Set.......2007-01-10

This movie follows the book pretty well. My 8th grade students enjoyed it. We watched the movie before we read the book since sometimes the book can be hard to follow with the English flavoring in the language and the many characters. I would reccommend this movie.

Has it really been decades since the first James Bond film? Over the course of 19 films and 5 Bonds, the beloved film spy has evolved to keep up with the times, but James Bond is at heart still the same suave, urbane tough guy that Sean Connery established in 1962's Dr. No. The James Bond Story traces the development of the character, interviewing Bond leading ladies Maud Adams and Jane Seymour and Bond actors Sean Connery, Roger Moore, George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan and exploring the ups and downs of the filmic franchise over the years. Also, director Terence Young, producer Cubby Broccoli, and, of course, Ian Fleming follow the progression of the Bond character from its first onscreen realization through the 2000-model Bond. There's lip service paid to his progress from a womanizing, Martini-swilling Neanderthal in a tux to a somewhat more politically correct man, and the traditional Bond killing gadgets get treatment as well (complete with outtakes and flubs). This is just the thing for Bond fans and of the spy genre in general; an affectionate look at 40 years worth of James Bond. --Jerry Renshaw

4 out of 5 stars Story about a secret agent who likes his Martinis stirred and not shaken (or is that shaken and not stirred?).......2007-05-15

    XXXXX

This action-packed documentary is a behind-the-scenes look at everything that makes people like the James Bond or 007 movies. (For those into trivia, there was a 1954 James Bond TV episode and a 1956 Bond radio program.) It includes brief film clips (and a few longer clips that highlight dialogue) from all the 007 movies (meaning from 1962's "Dr. No," the first Bond movie to 1999's "The World is Not Enough," the last Bond movie that was still in production as this documentary was being made).

There are ten scenes in this brief documentary covering everything from the origins of the series, sex and girls, violence, gadgets to the five actors who up to 1999 portrayed James Bond, locations, Ian Fleming (the author who created 007 in 1952), and the predicted future of the movie series.

The initial interviews with the five Bond actors (Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan) as well as their comments throughout are, I found, very interesting. Be aware that at the beginning Connery mentions that there were a total of 20 Bond movies made. But as the documentary proceeds it shows printed on screen how many Bond movies each of these actors made. Respectively, these are {6,1,7,2,and 3 (as of 1999)}. The total is 19. Why the difference in totals?

The difference is due to the fact that Connery is including the movie titled "Never Say Never Again" (1983) in which he starred as Bond. However, the documentary is counting only those Bond movies made by `EON Productions' and "Never Say Never Again" was a non-EON production. Unfortunately, this fact is not mentioned by the narrator (actress Miranda Richardson) and this may cause confusion for some. (Another piece of trivia--there was a 1967 comic Bond movie made that was a non-EON production.)

Besides comments made by the Bond actors, there are also comments made by others involved with some of the Bond movies such as directors and producers. Comments are also made by "Bond girls" such as Maud Adams and Jane Seymour. (You will also see other Bond girls in brief film clips that are shown.) There is excellent archival footage of Ian Fleming and his James Bond writings. I also enjoyed the interviews with the Bond "gadget man" named "Q" (the late Desmond Llewelyn--who was in, count them, 17 Bond movies). These are some highlights. Much more interesting stuff is included.

The last scene of this documentary is called "The Furture" where the future of the James Bond movie series is discussed. It was predicted that Brosnan would make one more Bond movie and, as is known now, he did in 2002 (bringing the total EON Bond productions to 20). After that, they felt sure the series would continue. This documentary was right again! We now have a sixth James Bond portrayed by actor Daniel Craig who made his first Bond movie in 2006 (bringing the total EON Bond productions to 21 as of the date of this review).

I did have some minor problems with this documentary:

    (1) I feel that, as discussed above, it should have been mentioned that the official Bond movies for this documentary were those made by EON productions. By not doing so, confusion in movie count was created.
    (2) This documentary implies that all Bond movies were based on the writings of Ian Fleming. This is untrue. After Fleming died in 1964, there were other writers that took up the Bond saga and on whose writing some movies are based.
    (3) On the DVD front case for this documentary (displayed above by Amazon), it says as of 1999, that there are "5 bonds; 19 films; over 30 years." The first two facts are correct. However, this documentary goes to 1999 so it would be more accurate if it read "over 35 years."

There is one major problem with this documentary. It does not discuss anything about the unique Bond theme music. This music is an essential ingredient of all the EON Bond movies. I thought this was a major oversight.

Finally, the DVD itself (the one released in 2000) is perfect in picture and sound quality. I found that some of the scene selections did not match the sections in the documentary. There is also one major extra--a multiple-choice twenty-question interactive trivia game. I found this interesting and fun but did find that the dates following some Bond movie titles were incorrect.

In conclusion, despite some minor problems and one major problem, I found that this documentary is a good way to increase your "Bond, James Bond" I.Q.

Excellent. From Sean Connery to Pierce Brosnan, this video gives you a look at all of the men who were Bond. Also the people behind the scenes who have the very important role of supporting the actors in their efforts to come to life. I highly recommend it for any Bond enthusiast.

4 out of 5 stars The Inside Review Of The Story..........2004-05-03

The James Bond story is worth, buying or watching.
Great for any Bond fan who wants to know a little bit more about the secret agent and the films in the pass, from DR. No, to The World is Not Enough.
The Story is based on the coming of Bond, Gadgets, Girls, and more. Interviews with our favorite characters as Bond from past and present.
But the story is great, but could have added more to the story, more details, to be exact. Worth getting, by all means.

5 out of 5 stars The Story of Bond....James Bond........2002-11-29

Are you a bond fan? This is the movie for you! Filled with exciting information on all the James bond films from Dr. No to The World is Not Enough, this story is one not to be missed. Also included are interviews with many people of the "Bond Family" including Cubby Broccoli, Michael G. Wilson, Terence Young, John Glen, Louis Gilbert, Maud Adams, Jane Seymour, Pierce Brosnan, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Sean Connery, George Lazenby and many more.... There are also exclusive interviews with Ian Fleming from his home Goldeneye in Jamaica. This story contains chapters on the Bond girls, exotic locations, the novels of Ian Fleming and many more. The only downer to this is the very droll voice of narrator Miranda Richardson. Telling the tales of the movies, the novels and James Bond himself- this story should be in everyone's collection who calls themself a Bond fan!

Tired but watchable adaptation of the popular '60s TV show of a friendly Martian who lives with an agreeable earthling. Like Disney's other live-action remakes 101 Dalmatians and Flubber, the emphasis is on quick-moving scenes and special effects--not character. Jeff Daniels is the bemused earthling who gets to know Christopher Lloyd's alien ways. Much of the film feels like a retread borrowing heavily from other sci-fi comedies (and "fish out of water" films), including Lloyd's own Back to the Future. Lloyd and his talking space suit (voiced by Wayne Knight who brings the same personality as his Newman role on Seinfeld) don't know simple Earth customs but inexplicably know every pop culture reference in the last 10 years. Daryl Hannah and Elizabeth Hurley are along for the ride as Daniels's good-girl and bad-girl flames. TV's Martian, Ray Waltson, shows up as a secret agent alien hunter--and pours more emotion into his scenes than the rest of the movie combined. Ages 6 and up. --Doug Thomas

This hilarious adventure begins when an ambitious TV reporter, Tim O'Hara (Jeff Daniels), stumbles upon a Martian (Christopher Lloyd) who has just crashed on Earth! Thinking this is the story of the Millennium, Tim schemes to expose the Martian -- who has taken human form as "Uncle Martin." When Tim's efforts are constantly foiled by Uncle Martin's crazy antics, he decides to help the resourceful alien return home. With the government hot on their trail and a spaceship in pieces, can they blast Uncle Martin off in time? Wild special effects create outrageous laughs, including aliens morphing, cars shrinking, objects floating, and Martin's rowdy spacesuit, Zoot. Also starring Elizabeth Hurley (AUSTIN POWERS), Daryl Hannah (SPLASH), and Ray Walston (from the original "My Favorite Martian" television series), MY FAVORITE MARTIAN keeps kids and parents entertained over and over again with its fast-paced action and nonstop laughs!

1 out of 5 stars Miss this Martian.......2007-02-02

I like Christopher Lloyd. From Star Trek three's Kruge to Taxi's Reverend Jim. The man is a great character actor. I like the classic Martian show

However, this movie version is for the birds. It seems to recycle old ALF plots rather than cover any new ground.

Jeff Daniels and a pre "Kill Bill" Daryl Hannah is wasted in this remake.

I wont subject you to the worst stuff this film offers like a talking space suit with a mind of its own.

The cameo by the original martian, Ray Walston is cute, but worthless in this drek

4 out of 5 stars Humor for the Whole Family.......2006-11-12

I love Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future, so had great hopes here. As the martian, stranded by his ship's engine problems, he gives the film some humorous moments. Unfortunately some of his speeches were delivered too fast and the viewer can only guess at the content.
They make pretty good use of special effects changing people into aliens or having Lloyd fall literally apart when he feels depressed. I could have skipped the corny talking suit, but guess they wanted to work some animation in as well.
Enjoyable enough on first viewing, but not one that I'll want to see over and over.

    5 out of 5 stars Disney At it's Best..........2006-01-01

Disney's My Favorite Martian is a very good and enjoyable movie for the whole family. It stars (Jeff Daniels), who plays a reporter for a tv show & (Christopher Lloyd), who plays an out of this world Alien from mars. Tim O'Hara(Daniels) had a good job, when he got fired from his job, he stumbles upon a crash wich was made by an alien space craft, inside this space craft emerges an Alien who hitches a ride with Tim, wWhen Tim relizes that he picked up an Alien he becomes Atached to him and calls Him Uncle Martin(Lloyd). can Tim help Uncle Martin back home, Well you'll have to rent the movie and find out.

This movie is also based upon the tv show. This is a really good movie.

    1 out of 5 stars I Nearly Cried.......2005-11-20

Now I understand what Don Maclean is trying to say.
'My Favorite Martian' was one of my favorite shows as a child. I looked forward to seeing how the movies would render it: but I must say I was sadly disappointed. This is a violent, over the top mess. The grotesque Christopher Lloyd has no charm as the Martian and Daryl Hannah needs to be in a slasher film to play out her twisted sensibilites. I do not know what the director was thinking about. Is everyone in Hollywood on some kind of mind zapping stimulant?
This is supposed to be family entertainment? It has been appropriated by the dark side.

4 out of 5 stars Ray Walston Shines... But Chris Is Fun Too!.......2005-04-29

This movie was my first exposure to "My Favorite Martian". Originally, I wasn't overly impressed. Though I have always found Chris Lloyd funny, the inuendo used here (especially by Zoot) degrades rather then builds up the fun, for the most part. "Give her the finger." Tim tells Martin (refering to his levitation ability; but the other implication is clear).

Now, I appreciate it a little more but I'd ditch the talking suit. He does nothing for the plot (except a vital 15 second bit).

I have only recently purchased Season 1 of Ray's original My Favorite Martian Series and I have to say that I prefer it over this 80% To be fair, Chris is heart-warming in his own right. But Ray was really the one who caught my attention..."I've been tryin' to hike a ride home for 30 years!" He exclaims. The poor guy. His other comments leave me wonderin' is he playing his '60's character?

When it was first broadcast in 1975, there had never been a more lavishly produced science fiction TV series than Space: 1999, a British production whose budget for the first of its two seasons ran an astounding £3.25 million. What keeps us fans enthralled after all these years has only partly to due with the first-rate production values, the plausibly constructed spaceship models, and expert special effects. The tone of the show is one of scientific dispassion, setting it apart from its TV sci-fi predecessors such as Star Trek, whose mood was more convivial. Our heroes here are in dire circumstances that require cool heads as a survival trait. Those circumstances: the 311 crew members of Moonbase Alpha experience a cataclysm that causes the moon to break away from Earth's orbit and travel endlessly through space, turning our heroes into unintentional explorers. No TV series has created a more palpable feel of hard science fiction than this.

Of course the show is not without its detractors; it has been soundly lambasted for its many scientific errors. No less august a figure than Isaac Asimov criticized the show for its premise in the opening episode, "Breakaway," which had nuclear explosions on the "dark side of the moon" somehow propelling it out of Earth's orbit and flying through space without regard to any physical laws. In "Earthbound," aliens traveling to Earth state it will take them 75 years to reach their destination, making one wonder why it didn't take the moon that long to encounter the aliens. While these are serious complaints, fans tend to remember the scientific seriousness of the series and the sense of awe created by the many strange creatures and phenomena that the crew members encounter on their journey through the galaxy.

The Space: 1999 Mega Set collects all 48 episodes broadcast over the show's two seasons, contained on 16 DVDs that include vintage interviews, production stills, TV promotional spots, and interactive menus. All episodes have been digitally remastered, and some material that was not seen in the original U.S. broadcasts has been restored. --Jim Gay

4 out of 5 stars These two planets have been at war with one another, but neither side can gain an advantage. That is, until the Moon shows up........2007-02-07

'Space 1999' has been compared to Star Trek Voyager. If you can get past the premise of the show, that astronauts on 'Moon Base Alpha' are stranded on the Moon after a nuclear accident causes the Moon to leave the solar system, it's a great show. There's a hot shape-shifting alien (Maya), and each week, as the Moon travels thru the galaxy those on Moon Base Alpha meet various other aliens. They have small fighter-like spacecraft, and, who knows, maybe they did have some kind of super-reactor powering their base.

Instead of the whole series, I'd like to review just one episode 'The Last Enemy' that's always stuck with me.

In 'The Last Enemy', as the Moon passes by another star system a ship from one of the planets lands near Moon Base Alpha. The alien ship launches some hellacious looking missiles towards the Base, and, a commercial is cued. After commercial - the missiles roar over Moon Base Alpha - towards another planet in the solar system. The aliens on the ship contact Commander Koenig, saying, 'Not to worry, we have nothing against you, this is a private matter between us and the other planet of the solar system'.

Are these two planets at war?

Commander Koenig take a Moon-buggy out and visits the alien ship. Their commander isn't just female, they're all females. Their whole planet is populated by females. Of course, Koenig (Martin Landau) has a small affair with the commander of the alien ship.

Meanwhile, Moon Base Alpha receives a transmission from the other planet (and they're all men) - a planet filled with men. Their leader saying, 'if you don't put a stop to what's happening yourselves we're going to destroy this enemy ship, and probably you along with it'.

It turns out, these two planets have been at war with one another, but neither side can gain an advantage. That is, until the Moon shows up.

There are some negotiations in 'The Last Enemy', but in the end, Koenig destroys the alien ship, saving Moon Base Alpha once again.

5 out of 5 stars Space:1999 The Ultimate Adventure Series!.......2007-02-05

I was born in 1968, so I was very young when "Space" premiered in 75. Never the less, it has been and always shall be my favorite sci-fi show of all time! As a kid, I preferred the second series to the first. For no reason other than it kept my attention better. I mean, what kid wouldn't love watching the beautiful Maya changing into differant animals and alien monsters every other episode. The second series had a much faster pace to it. Where as the first series was much more contemplative and metaphysical in nature. Which I never really came to appreciate until my adult years. Now I must say that I prefer the first series out of the two. This Megaset contains all 48 episodes over the shows 2 year run, and I believe is a must have for "ANY" fan of the genre. Whether it be science fiction, fantasy, or action adventure that tickles your fancy, this show has it all! Of course, then there is the Eagle Transporter!!! Which I've had an obsession with since the first time I laid eyes on it. It is the most realistic space ship ever depicted in a sci-fi show, and is in every episode but one. So, if you like watching shows with interesting plots, solid acting, action/adventure, fantasy/metaphysical elements, and lots and lots of explosions. Then you'll love Space:1999 and the Magaset is just waiting for you. Go on, Maya won't bite!!! :)
    Sincerly, Commander Anderson :)

3 out of 5 stars Yes I watched This In The 70's.......2006-12-14

OK, here goes. I'm ready for the haters to vote me to death here. I want to say that I am a Trekie and a Sci Fi fan. I was born in 1963 and a product of the space race (much more than today's generation, we feel that space is exciting). I was at one of the early Star Trek conventions in 1974 in NYC, I watched the Star Trek cartoon and loved it (Filmways even!), I loved UFO and would try to catch that whenever it was shown in the odd random time slot it would be. Space 1999 comes out and I'm all over it, I'm a big fan, I have my sci fi fix. Than something happenned, I lost interest. Here I am in my pre-teens and I still can't get enough Star Trek or UFO, yet Space 1999 is no big deal. Yeah, I'd still watch it but I hardly remember any of this show. Thats the big thing here, it's a boreing show, period. The origins are exciting, the moon is blown off on its own and there are people living there! Wow that's incredible. OK now what? Well, after that reality sets in and even a pre teen sees that the people don't survive week after week like that. And what was the point after that anyway, the show had no point. I could go on but I'm sure there are those who worship this show. Like I said, I grew up watching Space 1999 and so I feel I can be critical of it. The last straw was seeing that an episode was picked for MST3K. Thats the last straw, Space 1999 is lame. Big money aside, if the show has no endgame it gets old fast. I guess the endgame was they got home, but from what I remember the Earth sucked so I don't even think they wanted to go back, nor did I stay around to find out.

5 out of 5 stars I've wanted this for years........2006-11-03

I take it to work and watch an episode every day while I eat my lunch. I love it.
