Like the millions of fans who endured the St. Louis Cardinals' disappointing 1998 baseball season to watch the heroics of Mark McGwire, so will Albert Brooks devotees thrill to their comedy god stepping up to the plate in a rare starring role in a film he did not direct and knocking it, if not quite out of the park, then certainly to deep center field.

Brooks, sporting a paunch and a beat-up straw hat, stars as Al Percolo, a disheveled, down-but-not-out New York Yankees scout. His latest sensation, a high school phenom, blows his Yankee stadium debut after he unceremoniously throws up on the mound. Al is not fired, but instead banished to the backwaters of Mexico, where he discovers his own Babe Ruth and ticket back to the majors: local sensation Steve Nebraska, who has a 100 m.p.h. fastball and a titanic swing. As winningly played by Brendan Fraser, he is also an incredible screwball, part Encino Man and part George of the Jungle

The Yankees are willing to pay the outrageous salary of $55 million (those were the days!) for him. But first he must get a clean bill of mental health. That won't be easy for a guy prone to throw dinnerware at the press. In a scene that recalls Brooks's increasingly desperate lobbying to get casino owner Garry Marshall to return the nest egg his wife squandered in Lost in America, Brooks strikes out in his attempts to get Steve's psychiatrist, Dr. H. Aaron (Dianne Wiest), to rubber-stamp the case. As Al becomes a surrogate father to the troubled youth, Dr. Aaron uncovers dark secrets from his past.

While perhaps not in the same league as Bull Durham, The Scout will be a hit with everyone who loves baseball and Brooks (not to mention Brendan). --Donald Liebenson

Amazon.com essential video

Not only was Barry Levinson's comedy shot in a relatively fast period of 29 days, the satire of politics and show business feels as if it were made yesterday. There's a fresh spin quite evident here, a nervy satire of a presidential crisis and the people who whitewash the facts. The main players are a mysterious Mr. Fix-It (Robert De Niro), veteran Hollywood producer (Dustin Hoffman), and a White House aide (Anne Heche). Can the president's molesting of a young girl be buried in the two weeks before an election? A war in Albania just might do the trick. In the good old days, the president would just invade. With modern technology, it's even cleaner. The hungry press looks for any lead, convenient misinformation is created by the latest Hollywood fakery ("all developed by the new James Cameron film") creating images and merchandise all instantly packaged. And it must be real, because it's on TV. David Mamet's script never questions the morals or the absolute secrecy needed to pull this thing off. He and director Barry Levinson have enough truth in the story to make you wonder what is real news and what is just promotion the next time you see CNN. Many of the supporting players impact the story with mere presence: Denis Leary as a quote man, Willie Nelson as a songwriter. The three leads are magnificent. With the similarities between history and this film, Wag will forever linked to the Monica Lewinsky saga. This video version contains a new minidocumentary focusing on the parallels of the film with the Bill Clinton scandal, including comments from director Barry Levinson and hosted by newsman Tom Brokaw. --Doug Thomas

Description

Robert DeNiro stars as a Washington spinmaster who needs a war to distract public's attention from a sex scandal involving the President. Dustin Hoffman received an Academy Award nomination for his role in this biting political satire.

4 out of 5 stars It could have been true.......2007-06-27

Yes the dog needs to be wagged severely by the tail. If politics is nothing but a branch of show business, it is nothing but tall tales and scary stories. In this film they fantasize the re-election of a President based on a Hollywood secret production of a story that sounds truer than reality. The President is going to be accused of some sexual misconduct - read my lips - twelve days before election day, so his advisers invent a war in Albania which is deflated by the CIA who do not like, for once, what is not true. Then they go on with the invention of a US prisoner of war left behind and finally freed and brought home, a Rip van Winkle of modern times. Poor Schumann. A rape-offender who is severely psychotic and who tries to rape the first woman he sees through a diner's window in the middle of nowhere. He ends up killed by the husband of the woman and he is brought back home, directly to Arlington. Superb. Unluckily the producer turns psychotic in his turn and wants the credit for the super production that re-elected the President. So he dies of a massive heart attack on his way to Hollywood, picked by some CIA agents, or is it FBI, and does it have any importance at all? They could have really done the same thing with the war on Iraq. It could and would have been a lot more palatable than it is right now. The film is greatly done though it has little depth and as a comic taste and bitter after taste. Of course it is all a story and it has no truth whatsoever, does it not?

1 out of 5 stars Wag? My tail didn't wag an instance..........2007-02-08

Clearly by the rating you have to be expecting some sort of negative positions on the film, and you'd be right. Because in my opinion this film was trumped up to comedy gold, only to realize itself as nothing but a false laugh in the back of an empty theatre. Yeah, I don't know what that sentence entirely means, but I do know that Wag the Dog lacked realism (except for the end, but assuming there's a chance you may actually watch this I figure I'll be nice enough not to spoil this.)

The plot centers around DeNiro, who is a political mind who is supposed to help control public opinion in the face of a presumably soon-to-be leaked sex scandal. To spin his magic DeNiro teams up with a Hollywood producer, played by Dustin Hoffman, who plans on making this cover-up the masterpiece of his career.

Well, that's the story. So now you know the basic beginning to what I believe is far from a masterpiece, as Wag the Dog lands much closer to a master flop.

5 out of 5 stars A Very Wicked And Prophetic Satire.......2007-01-30

When this movie came out, Monica Lewinski's 15 minutes of fame (or infamy) had not started ticking, though people thought it was realistic especially with Clinton in the White House. A year later, Clinton was bombing Iraq, which coincidentally coincided with when the impeachment hearings took place (starting the day the hearings were to begin, though they were postponed a day, and ending right after the hearings ended, being termed a success).

The makers of the movie for some reason thought this movie needed an R rating and used the "f" word more than necessary (though I feel it being used once is much more than necessary). Aside from that, the movie was funny (e.g. a girl running with Doritos), with cynicism concerning the reporting of news. By the way, this movie was not a direct attack on Clinton but rather looking at the way politicians work.

Dustin Hoffman earned his best actor nomination. Robert DeNiro deserved one as well.

5 out of 5 stars Classic for all the times (10 stars from 5).......2007-01-28

Somebody can say that it's good "political comedy" Yes it is. And it have to be proud of it.

The person who made a script of this movie is real genius (or he really was a part of American electoral process. And i believe that in real live everything goes exactly like this and no other.

This movie didn't had much commercial (maybe because this movie only for intelligent people), but it should be anyway. This film is BRILLIANT, scenario is brilliant, actors game is brilliant, directing is brilliant.
Just no words for this film - only positive emotions!!!

In this movie you can see in action how government plays with people's mind.

That's movie that you have to see: buy it, rent it, steal it... but this movie is not only Classic of Hollywood, but also Classic of life (with brilliant actors game of Dustin Hoffman and Robert De Niro).

Must see movie!!!

5 out of 5 stars Wag the Dog.......2007-01-08

"Wag the Dog" is one of the best political satires ever made. In fact, it might be one of the best satires ever made about anything. The film is co-written by David Mamet ('Edmond'), directed by Barry Levinson (who, in 2006, directed another political comedy "Man of the Year"), and stars two two-time Oscar winning actors. The movie stars Robert De Niro as Conrad Brean, the Mr. Fix It of the White House. After the President (whom we never see) is accused of sexual misconduct with a teenage girl, 11 days before the election, Brean is hired to create something that will take the focus away from that. With his assistant Winifred Ames (Anne Heche) in tow, Brean hires Hollywood producer Stanley Motss (Dustin Hoffman) to stage and execute a fraudulent war. Motts gets to work, staging a war in Albania and hiring a young girl named Tracy Lime (a young Kirsten Dunst) to portray an Albanian girl running away from terrorists. One of the funniest scenes in the film occurs while filming the fake war.

Tracy: ...I get to put this on my resume, right?
Brean: Actually, no. You can never tell anyone you did this.
Tracy: What could they do to me?
Brean: They'd come to your house and kill you.

As the media eats up the war, taking the attention away from the sex scandal, they find themselves in need of another made-up story. So, they come up with a war hero who is still stranded "behind enemy lines in Albania." When they become ready to unveil him to the nation, they find themselves in even more trouble. Turns out the war hero, William Schumann (Woody Harrelson) is unlike any war hero you've ever seen. "Wag the Dog" is filled with scathing wit and is masterfully directed by Levinson. It's Hoffman and De Niro that really make this film as good as it is. They play so well off of each other that they both eat up the scenery. The movie features a whole jubilee of other stars including Denis Leary, Willie Nelson, and William H. Macy to name a few. The film was made during the Clinton administration and there's a lot of parallels with that, but the movie is still relevant today. It was one of the highest praised films the year it was released, but few people see it now. Hopefully anyone who does stumble upon it will give it a chance; it's truly a terrific and very funny movie.

Tim Allen and Kirstie Alley are New York scammers on the lam from the IRS--they got framed by their slimy accountant, Wayne Knight of Seinfeld--so they hide out as fake Amish farmers in Intercourse, Pennsylvania. As parodies of Witness go, For Richer or Poorer can't compete with the Woody Harrelson-Bill Murray flick Kingpin, by the creators of Dumb & Dumber. Allen and Alley are directed by the creator of McHale's Navy. But wait, come back! The true test of talent is a capacity to romp right through weak material, and while this story is hopelessly lame and formulaic, Allen and Alley are credible candidates for the clown prince and princess of broad TV comedy. When somebody wonders how come alleged Amish guy Tim Allen has no beard, Kirstie says, "Lice." Of course, his face has no lice on it either, so Kirstie adds, "Minute lice!" --Tim Appelo

Though I love Kirstie Alley, I am not a huge fan of Tim Allen but he and Kirstie work so well together in this movie that I have to rate it a 5. This is an absolutely hilarious film- I have watched it at least 2 dozen times through the years. I've owned a VHS version for years and was excited to find it on DVD. This movie never got the credit or acclaim it deserved when it was released. Excellent writing, good plot, excellent cinematography, and some very fine actors make this a must see!!

In giving 1991's The Last Boy Scout a three-star review, critic Roger Ebert was properly performing his duty as an objective reporter, praising the filmmakers' professional skill while observing that "the only consistent theme of the film is its hatred of women." For the purposes of this capsule review, there's no such obligation to level-headed fairness; the simple truth is, this ultraviolent, action-packed vehicle for Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans is disgustingly rotten to the core. Not only is it fueled by a bitter and spiteful attitude toward women, it's also the kind of profanely vulgar movie that doesn't hesitate to put foul-mouthed children in the path of vicious thugs and potentially deadly situations. Willis plays an ex-secret service agent turned private detective who is hired to protect a stripper (Halle Berry) and then teams up with the stripper's boyfriend (Wayans), a disgraced NFL star who was kicked out of football for gambling. They catch on to a criminal plot leading all the way up to a corrupt football team owner who wants to legalize gambling on pro football. Willis and Wayans get in and out of all sorts of trouble along the way, and naturally there are plenty of explosions to go along with the brutal beatings, gunfire, and constant cussing. Shane Black (of Lethal Weapon infamy) set a Hollywood record (since broken, several times) for the sale price of his slick but vile screenplay, and Top Gun director Tony Scott handles the action with his trademark gloss and high-impact style. But, seriously, is this a movie that anyone could bear to watch twice? --Jeff Shannon

2 out of 5 stars "water is wet, the sky is blue, women have secrets".......2007-04-25

Well, despite the assembled cast in this film, this isn't one of Bruce Willis's best action flicks. Its a pretty cheesey/hammy action film made when Hollywood scripts were still heavily employing wise cracks and one liners, and this film is full of them, and a whole lot of something else.Damen Waynes as the "tag along" I'm goona help kick some A@!? character is fairly annoying as is the basic plot in this film,"the corruption of professional football".It comes complete with a really cheesy bar room jingle that just outright sucks, the singer even had the brass cojonies to have a mullet. This film is full of action, allot of unrealistic action, but its not the first, nor will it be the last. The foul mouthed 12 year old was a totally unnecessary character as were the retarded subplots trying too creep in and maintain the viewers interest which it vaugley does.Yes, Bruce has some funny one liners and I got a chuckle out of a few of them and I even liked some of the cartoony action, but the Last Boy Scout is a dud hands down and I'm sure that Bruce Willis today would much rather forget he was in this film.I suppose it was sort of a launching platform for Damen Waynes and even the Oscar winning Haley Barry in her hay day has a 10 minute onscreen presence before being cut to ribbons durring one of the major action sequences in the begining of the film.Bruce is a great/likeable actor, but sometimes too much of Bruce is too much, especially when he's out saving the world all the time from the likes of homosexual phsychos like in this film which was pretty freak'in lame. The Last Boy Scout is semi-watchable,but really nothing to get your panties in a twist over.Willis can be seen in other, better made action films if you know where to look...just take your pick.

5 out of 5 stars The Last Boy Scout.......2006-11-10

Action packed with mature humor mixed in. One of Bruce Willis's best films.

4 out of 5 stars The only Tony Scott film worth bothering with..........2006-09-02

I generally don't like Tony Scott's work, but I did like this film. Bruce Willis plays another smart a** character here, but Bruce's schtick was still fresh at the time, so it still works. Damon Wayans is very good as his sidekick. Aside from a grueling, cringe inducing opening scene (a takeoff on Hank Williams, Jr.'s Monday Night Football song, which is also cringe inducing), the film is filled with very violent action, great one liners, a good sense of humour, a decent story, and a great scene where you see a wide receiver pull a gun (NFL players, don't get any ideas). The film has no depth or substance, but I have to admit I liked it. This is the only Tony Scott film I really like.

5 out of 5 stars The Best Boy Scout.......2006-07-04

This movie is the true Willis vehicle and Damon Wayans only eggs the Man on...If you're looking for Oscar material, get over it. But! if you're looking for a goodtime, then this is it. I love this movie and Bruce Willis is in true form in this flick, Wayans is awesome too. Sometimes you get tired of watching the Fat A---d Rich guy Win time and again. This Movie is about doing what's right, even if it means going about it the wrong way...you gotta do what you gotta do and Willis does, with a little help from his Friends. I was Cheering at the Explosive ending and I Love when a low life gets his. This is a non-stopper and it only lets up to let you catch your breath and then you're off again. Willis gives new meaning to getting a "light" for a cigarette and shows us that "Yes" he can dance a jig. Wanna have some fun? Wanna Cheer for the Underdog? Wanna see how a Man stands up when the chips are down or his Kid is in Danger? "The Last Boy Scout" is your ticket. Great Action Flick!

4 out of 5 stars A Great Guy's Movie.......2006-05-12

The Last Boy Scout, is one of the last and greatest 1980s-style action movies. In my mind, it is to 80s action movies what The Wild Bunch was to Westerns: it's a marks the end of an era--with a bang.

Bristling with gunfights, explosions, wisecracks, vulgarity and testosterone, it's definitely a guy's movie, the kind of movie that probably couldn't be made today due to Hollywood's obssession with "girl power!" and political correctness.

Featuring 3-dimensional main characters who struggle with their inner demons while struggling with the bad guys, The Last Boy Scout remains an entertaining movie, even upon multiple viewings.

Description

After one year too many on the road with a ramshackle jazz band, Lem Siddons (Fred MacMurray) decides to put down roots. He marries sweetheart Vida Downey (Vera Miles) and embarks on a lifelong roller-coaster ride as a scoutmaster to a steady stream of high-spirited youngsters. Set against lovingly recreated scenes of 1930s America, this family classic shines with all the warmth and humor of Disney entertainment at its nostalgic best.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent for Scouts and Scouters.......2007-06-14

We showed it to our Cub Scouts on a portable video screen during a family campout and everyone LOVED IT! I remember watching it as a kid, but now as a Cubmaster, it was even better. Highly recommend this movie to all, especially leaders.

5 out of 5 stars great family movie!.......2007-03-31

I am an Assistant Scoutmaster and my son is about to be a First Class Boy Scout. We (as well as big brother and Mom) really enjoyed this movie! It upholds traditional values and fun and the scouting spirit in a wonderful, entertaining way. It has some humor too. Highly recommended to anyone involved in scouting, but you will also enjoy it if you don't know anything about Boy Scouts.

5 out of 5 stars Follow Me, Boys.......2007-03-28

If you have never seen this movie, you really need to watch it. It became a family favorite years ago when it was on Disney channel I believe. Just a wonderful movie and makes you laugh and cry. But even better if you enjoy Fred MacMurray! He reminds me of my own dad and doesn't get better than that!

One of the finest family movies ever made. I enjoyed it as a child and I love it as an adult. I watched it with my family and my children were smiling throughout the night. Anyone who ever wore a scout uniform should be able to relate in some way with the movie. I highly recommend it.

Chemistry and quirkiness--and a stellar cast--help make Barry Levinson's Bandits more than just another comedy about ill-matched outlaws. Levinson's deft touch in Rain Man is evident in the film's road-movie structure, which follows bank robbers Joe (Bruce Willis) and Terry (Billy Bob Thornton) on a crime spree from Oregon to California. They're eventually joined by an aspiring stuntman and getaway driver (Troy Garity, son of Jane Fonda) and a neglected housewife (Cate Blanchett) who falls in love with both Joe and Terry after escaping her boring marriage. As scripted by Twin Peaks alumnus Harley Peyton, Bandits shifts from character comedy to crime thriller with reckless abandon, and the humor (particularly Terry's multiple neuroses) is occasionally forced and flat. Levinson compensates with offbeat moments of unexpected tenderness, allowing his cast to express depths of character not necessarily found in the script. A twist ending won't surprise attentive viewers, but it gives Bandits the extra kick it needs. --Jeff Shannon

4 out of 5 stars Diverting Divertissement.......2007-06-27

I usually watch films alone or with one other person--just my little quirk. BANDITS was the rare film that I watched with several other people after a pleasant dinner at the home of one of them (the best cook of all, fortunately!). As an "evening's entertainment," the Bruce Willis/Billy Bob Thornton caper was just right, for the most part. But in the back of my mind, I'll admit, I kept wondering what kind of impression the film would have made in a less convivial setting.

BANDITS has lots of genuinely funny moments--and an equal number of ones that fall flat. But it's such a likeable bit of fluff overall that you can (at least under the right circumstances) forgive it its flaws. Willis and Thornton could be accused of doing shtick, I suppose, but it's masterful shtick at least. Yes, I'd have to agree with those who find Billy Bob's Terry Lee character just a little too damn neurotic (and dysfunctionally hypochondriac) to actually pull off a series of bank robberies and daring escapes. But at least in the mood I was in while watching, my attitude was more along the lines of "Hey, it's an "action comedy" not Ibsen."

I will let the debate over Cate Blanchett's being cast as Kate Wheeler, the frustrated LA hausfrau who escapes her confining marriage to join up with hese two self-styled latter day Robin Hoods. This argument will likely continue for as long as people are still checking this movie out for the first time. For those doubters out there, I say, look beyond he impeccable American accent (and it IS that) and see her performance for the marvel it is. It's always fun to see a gifted dramactic actor getting the chance to let her flaming red hair down. (Have her and Tori Amos stand in field, and you could use them to land airplanes.) It's also nice when said gifted dramatic actor can pull said knock-off role off without appearing to be overtly slumming.

But the movie still suffers from the too-long--and maybe a little too cute for its own good syndrome. The longueurs do start to set in well before the film's actual end. You may have heard or read that the film has a delightful twist at the end. Well, you're likely to see it coming, if you've been paying any kind of attention to the plot at all. Which doesn't mean to imply that it all suddenly falls together and (just as suddenly) falls into place. Just how smart are these guys supposed to be anyway?

You are likely to enjoy this flick if you view it as just that, a MOVIE MOVIE. It was only AFTER seeing it with my friends the other night that I went back and read some of the rather mixed criticism that the movie received upon its release (and since!). And, ironically, for once I'm less on the side of the film crit establisshment than on that of the easy-to- entertain masses). I can well see the point of those who complain that this movie doesn't quite achieve what it sets out to do (as either a caper film or as a latter day screwball comedy), but still, as an evening's entertainment, it was just fine.

4 out of 5 stars Charming Caper.......2007-04-16

Another movie where my best friend and I split. I, too, believe that Cate Blanchett stole this film. Without her, it feels too much like The whole nine yards (comedy-wise) but with Thornton cast in Matthew Perry's slot. Bad hair-pieces aside, Bruce Willis' comedies feels pretty much the same dating all the way back to his Moonlighting days. Thornton gives into his corky side, but Blachette absolutely shines, orange hair and all. Recommended.

5 out of 5 stars It's Cate's Movie.......2007-04-04

I stumbled across this movie on cable one night and was immediately captured by it, much like the bank managers chosen for one of their capers by Bruce and Billy Bob. This is an intriguing tale that draws the viewer in father with each scene, and both boys give excellent performances, but the real star of the show is Ms Blanchett, who characteristically inhabits her role from the bone marrow out, switching back and forth between her character's own diverse personalities along the way. That the caper ends with all using their brains to get away cleanly makes it even better. Can't say enough about this film.

5 out of 5 stars Comic Genius.......2007-02-15

Billy Bob is the greatest as a hypochondriac! And Bruce Willis' dry humor and sarcasm is so clever. Love this movie!

5 out of 5 stars Beavers and Ducks!.......2007-02-12

After watching this movie the first time, I remember being surprised at how much I loved it. The chemistry & humor between the three stars makes for such a helarious ride, this is one of the few movies I can watch over and over. There is something laugh at something new each time. Very clever performances by all and Billy Bob is one of a kind.

3 out of 5 stars Better than most Horrorfests I've viewed as of late . . ........2007-06-22

I've been very disappointed in these "Horrorfest" films, but this is one is probably one of the best. I'll give it "3" stars if only for the fact that I didn't feel cheated when the film was over. It looks and feels more like a horror film and relies less on bombastic CGI effects.

5 out of 5 stars GOOD MOVIE!!!!!.......2007-05-29

I must admit I only watched this because Scout Taylor-Compton who stars in the new Halloween. But then I watched it and I really liked it. The children scared the heck out of me. Dont believe all these bad reviews. check it out for yourslef.

2 out of 5 stars Save Your Time and Money .......2007-05-24

Wicked Little Things held promise, simply because it was selected for the After Dark filmfest. Other movies in the series are good, if not great, like Dark Ride and Gravedancers. I expected similar quality from Wicked Little Things. I was vastly disappointed.

The basic plot without giving away many spoilers is that children worked the mines years ago, and due to shotty and corrupt practices by the owner, the kids were killed. Now they roam the mountains by their mine looking for revenge and blood. Into this comes a recently widowed mother and her two daughters. They inherited a house just by the mine and are determined to make a new life for themselves, but they cross paths with the zombie miner children.

Now I like a good, cheap horror movies. This movie isn't good, just cheap. The little zombie minors are just kids with black contacts and dirty faces. That might have been scary in maybe 1960, but now it looks pretty lame. The kids sometimes eat bits of people. Most of us have seen that done to death if we've watched 28 Days Later, or Night of the Living Dead. This movie offers nothing new, just bad directing, bad acting, a weak script, and a feeble ending.

If you haven't seen them yet, watch Dark Ride or Gravedancers instead. If you must see a zombie movie try Army of Darkness for comedy, or 28 Days Later for great zombie action. But do yourself a favor. Save your time and money and avoid Wicked Little Things.

Not recommended.

4 out of 5 stars Not a bad little wicked movie.......2007-05-21

This may be one of the better recent horror movies I have seen. There were so many things I liked about it also!
First off... I've read the other reviews and do not agree with some of the comments. I will agree that the plot is a bit cookie cutter... the plot has been reiterated a number of times so I won't go into that.
But... the good things I liked are: The acting is not overdone... it's right on par. The special effects AREN'T the movie.. they enhance the movie. The plot is easy to follow, direct. All the characters fit into the story... no suprise characters. No special camera effects that took away from the movie.
Simply stated... this is a more traditional scare fest. But I happen to like those.

5 out of 5 stars horrorfest 2006.......2007-05-07

haven't even watched the movie yet, i bought it because it was one of the movies in the horrorfest 2006. and i can't wait to watch it! can't wait for horrorfest 2007!

5 out of 5 stars Sleepover.......2007-06-13

The movie "sleepover" is about a girl named Julie [Alexa Vega] who has a sleepover and invites 3 other girls. They do the usual sleepover stuff: website vandalism, frozen bra, makeovers, and fried Twinkies. Then Julie's old Stacey friend who became popular comes over and tells the girls that her and her friends made up a scavenger hunt and they want them to do it too. Julie agrees but she will only do it if Stacey agrees to a little deal, first one with all the stuff on the list and to get to the high school first wins a seat at the fountain [the high school lunch spot]. So Stacey prints it out and leaves. Julie and her friends do all the stuff on the list but at the same time have to worry about not getting caught being out of the house. The girls do all the stuff and make it to the high school but Stacey gets there at the same time, so they make another deal. Whoever gets the crown at the dance wins. Watch the movie to find out who gets the crown at the end.

I thought this was a great movie, one of Alexa's best. The best thing about this movie is that you can watch it over and over and it will never get boring. This was my favorite movie!

If you like funny situations and out of the ordinary adventures, this movie is great for you. This movie is more for girls 10-16 years old, because they probably can relate to all the girls in the movie better than a boy could.

Ok, I'm not a kid but I'm using this account from time to time as Iit's easier than creating my own. So... first of all, I watched it yesterday and I thought it was quite lovely and optimistic :) I hadn't planned watching it, it just appeared and I thouhgt "why not"?
We got here 4 14-years old girls who have just graduated from junior high and and going to high school. Julie (Alexa) is, i believe, the main caracter.
On the other hand we have Sarah Paxton (I've no idea what she was doing there. She looked like she was 30 years old. I'm suprised she's the same age as Alexa). She's ex-friend of Julie and since she's been dumped by a boy, she proposes a game.... .
Girls have done really well (exept for Sarah - I can't stand her. All film I was wondering where did a see this Mika girl. She was playing the younger sister of Romolas in "DD: Hawana Nights". Nice.
There's nothing to say about directing or photos. It was just... you know, a teenage movie.
Music done good, though.
4 stars - you don't watch a your watch, that's what matters.

Oh, and Sean Faris as This Steve guy - hunky :D

I bought this at Walmart in the $5.50 bin. It's definately worth it. I love Alexa Vega and the other girls all create a fun chemistry that I wish I had with my friends. It's a good girl triump movie which seem to not happen anymore.

4 out of 5 stars Nice, lovely, anything connected to this...........2007-02-03

5 out of 5 stars family fun.......2007-01-10

I bought this at Walmart in the $5.50 bin. It's definately worth it. I love Alexa Vega and the other girls all create a fun chemistry that I wish I had with my friends. It's a good girl triump movie which seem to not happen anymore.

My family loves this movie! Its a nice, clean movie that will give everyone a laugh. A pampered, rich couple stuck on an Amish farm with no way out- plus its Tim Allen, so you know its gotta be funny.

5 out of 5 stars For Richer or Poorer.......2007-01-08

Though I love Kirstie Alley, I am not a huge fan of Tim Allen but he and Kirstie work so well together in this movie that I have to rate it a 5. This is an absolutely hilarious film- I have watched it at least 2 dozen times through the years. I've owned a VHS version for years and was excited to find it on DVD. This movie never got the credit or acclaim it deserved when it was released. Excellent writing, good plot, excellent cinematography, and some very fine actors make this a must see!!

4 out of 5 stars For Richer Or Poorer.......2006-11-04

I love this movie for it's clean content. It's funny and refreshing. Money is important, but connecting and communicating with your partner can solve a lot of problems.
