Unless you have some kind of dance background, this workout is a little tough. Jamie shows you each routine at a slow pace, but steps it up a notch too quick. It takes me a while to catch on and this went way too fast for me.

this dvd is a great work out for beginners and pretty good dancers. after pregnancy, i have not gone to the gym. succumbing to work out videos to get some sort of exercise, i picked up this dvd because i missed hip hop dance class. the moves are not too hard to get, but not so easy that i don't want to do the dvd again. just doing it 4 times earns your money back since dance classes are usually 10 dollars per hour or so. the only thing i did not like is at the end of the dvd jamie breaks down two of the 8 counts he thinks were "hard" but he actually chooses the easier 8 counts to break down. rock your body! rock your body!
A Lot of Fun.......2007-06-08
Finally a Jamie King dance workout I don't have to try and follow along on the Nike website! I liked this workout a lot, and I usually find most cardio hip-hop DVDs lame. It's "organised" like a dance class, with phrases learned at half-time then tempo, a dress rehearsal where you put it all together and then a performance where you run the whole thing through a few times. The choreography is cool, and once you know it you can put a lot more energy into it and have a fun workout. Sometimes they counted off the beat, but it's easy to ignore that if you can count. This isn't high-intensity like a Les Mills dance class, but for a day where you want a steady-state burn, this is a fun workout to try. I hope there'll be more of these down the line, maybe getting progressively harder.

Another review broke down the sections of the DVD very well, so I won't dwell on that.
The workout is hard at first, you will stumble through the moves, and you won't be able to keep up. This is a good thing! It makes the workout more of a challenge and something that I will keep coming back to. Just don't feel down or frustrated if you don't get it at first.
You can tell Jamie's background is dance and not aerobics or fitness, but that's not a bad thing either. It is really helpful if you know how to pickup on the 8 counts.
There is also a Rock Your Body book available that has the same routine that's on the DVD in picutres. This was really helpful the first few times. The book has lots of other great info too, and I would suggest you pick it up
Fun, fun, fun!.......2007-05-22
I bought this DVD after reading that it was Shape magazine's DVD of the month, and I just finished my second time doing it. Overall, it's a great workout that is a lot of fun!
Jamie King leads the workout, and he is accompanied by four back-up dancers. Jaime has a lot of energy, and makes the workout fly by, which is always nice. The workout is broken down into six main sections: a warm-up, rehearsal 1, rehearsal 2, dress rehearsal (where you put the two sections together slowly), the performance (where you put the two sections together more quickly in front of an "audience"), and a cool down.
In each of the two rehearsal sections, Jamie breaks down the choreography and makes it very esay to follow. If you can't get a move, though, a great feature of the DVD is that in several places you can click on a sub-menu and go to the bonus section where Jamie breaks down the move even more slowly.
One of the things that makes this workout so unique is that the workout is done on a stage with a DJ playing music. During the dress rehearsal and performance sections, the dancers and Jamie also change into "costumes" and even do the routine in front of a live audience. It really feels like you're a rock star while doing these sections of the workout!
The DVD also has a bonus strength section and a section where Jamie breaks down the moves in more detail. The first time I did this workout, I couldn't quite keep up with the nuances of the moves, but I can see progress and I can also see that I won't be bored with this DVD in the future.
The last thing I wanted to say is that I was pleasantly surprised about how this workout got my heart rate up. It's true that there are much harder cardio dance workouts out there, but I was definitely breaking a sweat -- and having fun while doing it! Overall, it's a fun, very unique workout!

I really like this workout. It's especially nice when you you're short on time or want to add-on to your cardio. Minna gives great cues and has some nice twists on old moves....and a few new ones that make this workout fun.
The Greatest DVD ever.......2007-05-30
I saw Minna Lessig on TV promoting this DVD, and after watching a few of the exercises, I decided to try it. I have tried many DVDs like pilates and taebo, and this was by far the best and most fun. You can do arms one day, abs the next, followed by bottom, or you can do a whole body workout. I like it because I can do a whole body workout followed by just abs or any combination that I feel is right for the day. She is also very motivating through the whole workout. The whole body workout is only 15 minutes long, but I was sweating by the end!!I would recommend this DVD to anyone who doesn't want to work out at a gym.
Another solid workout.......2007-05-20
This is my 4th dvd featuring Minna Lessig. I think she plans very balanced programs that hit all of the areas. This dvd has sections for arms & shoulders, abs, and glutes plus an additional 15 minutes segment for total body conditioning. All segments are challenging and include some moves that are new to me. You need two sets of weights (light & heavy) and a mat. I've been working out regularly for a while, so I used 5 and 8 pound weights. If you are just starting out, go lighter.
Minna demonstrates moves well and is very encouraging - never annoying. This dvd will be a regular in the rotation for quite a while.
overall body sculpting.......2007-04-25
This is a fun fast paced, intermediate body toning and sculpting video. The moves can be challenging, but once you get the hang of it your good to go. The instructor shows you the move first, and then you follow along with her. She does different moves to work the same body part in different ways. This keeps the work out fun and interesting. The music is great. You will love this toning workout. I built up a lot of sweat just doing the sculpting routines and I bet you will too. This is a keeper. You can also turn of the speaking and just do the workout or create your own workout to the music only.
Excellent workout.......2007-04-21
I bought this dvd 2 weeks ago and have done it 3 times now and really enjoy it. I was also very sore which, of course, is a good thing. Minna knows how to make working out fun. She does a very good job hitting every body part. In my opinion, an excellent workout for intermediates. I never dread doing this workout because Minna makes it fun. Often, I don't work out because I dread it, but this one is fun.

This DVD is probably the best workout I have ever experienced. The fast pace may not exactly be for beginners, but is a refreshing challenge and something to work up to. I consider myself "in shape" and my heart rate was up for the whole workout. I read somewhere that you can burn between 500 and 800 calories with these workouts and I plan on buying a lot more. I just bought AMPED today and I can't wait for it to come in the mail!

This is one of Billy's newest workouts and let me tell you, it is GREAT!!!! This is an awesome addition to your workouts! It'll have you sweating and flying through your workout in minutes! I just received this DVD yesterday and tried it out today. It was a little hard, but a lot of fun. There are some familiar moves, but Billy also adds a few challenging combinations that he has never done in other videos. There is also a few different moves. The really motivating part of these videos, the people seem to genuinely enjoy Tae Bo and are in good shape, but look realistic. I giggled a few times at Billy's humor. I own pretty much every Tae Bo DVD, so, this one was actually a refreshing change!

Since I bought this for my younger sister, who grew up during the 70's, I'm not the one to review this product. I did watch it briefly with my sister to make sure this is the one she wanted. I'll think she will like it once she gets into it so far I haven't heard a yah or a nay.
You're Gonna Sweat.......2007-05-13
I find this to be an excellent aerobic workout. The first few times I did it, I couldn't make it through the whole thing. There is an excellent ab workout at the end. It's a little bit long, but with the dvd, you have the option of skipping to another part if you don't have the time (or energy) to do the whole thing. Richard Simmons makes it fun, and the old Disco songs are great to workout to.

The dancers/pupils are very energetic,charged and SMILE a lot, which makes this excercise Motivational and fun. Even if you're just watching it for the fun of it.
It'll put a smile on your face, maybe have you go out and buy some hip clothes too.
Burn, baby BURN!.......2007-02-23
I bought this when I was like 14 or something, not knowing who Richard Simmons was and saw it in the infomercial program. It came in a set with the Tone video or something I forgot. But I couldn't follow it so I decided to let it dust away in the cupboard.
Now I'm 23 and I've gotten fat and wanna lose weight so I decided to exercise again. Since I love dancing so much (I was a dancer in my skinny years lol) I tried those hip hop dance workouts but non can make me really SWEAT without aching my body! The moves are fun yet cheesy and looking at 'large' people dancing in the background energetically motivates me even more because if they can do, so can I! Unlike all other workout videos that I own, they have skinny dancers and I couldn't follow their hardcore workout when I'm fat and heavy.
Unfortunately I own the VHS version so the picture is grainy and looks like it was shot with a cheap camera, and sound is quite bad...but still bearable. I'm so happy there's a DVD version now.
Some people that complaints about Simmons not instructing the steps and such, chill. After you workout a few times, you'll get the steps and you won't even realize it. For me, I didn't have problems at all because I'm a dancer but even if I wasn't, it's still not that hard to follow because when you've 'mastered' the steps you wouldn't want to listen to Simmons instructing over and over again like you're a beginner. You just wanna keep grooving and sweating and just keep going! Trust me, my other hip hop workout videos have instructions and when I've mastered the steps, those instruction becomes annoying!

Kick Butt workout!.......2007-06-11
I have worked my up the "Walk Away the Pounds" series starting off at 1 mile, 2 mile and now am on this 3 mile walk! It is a serious challenge. I did the workout for a week without weights and now use my own 2 lb weights and it makes a huge impact! The exercises are very easy to pick up because she only has 4 different steps but I am worn out by the end.
The only reason why I rated it a 4 instead of 5 is because the banter can get a little irritating at times(she doesn't stop talking!)and I don't feel like she stretches quite as long as I think you should after this kind of workout. Overrall, it really is a great DVD and a great series!
Great workout.......2007-06-03
I was already walking three miles intermittently and doing the 2 miles walks with 2 pound weights and the stretchie band, and this was still a challenge.

I first walked with this tape at my gym. I bought it for home, so that I can still exercise when I can't make the gym. This DVD or tape is great for all ages and I highly recomment it.
Fat Burning Workout.......2007-05-19
All in all I think this exercise really keeps me going. I know some folks complain about her sense of humor but I can overlook that. I have slimmed down and lost inches doing Leslie's workouts. The product is well worth the investment. This is great for the middle aged group! I have also done her 4 mile workout and I find it beneficial as well.-

I bought this a month ago and it has been a great dvd to add to the collection. I use 5 pound ankle weights along with the 2 pound balls and it really kicks my butt. It has helped me shave about 10 pounds off all together! The moves are super simple and easy to follow.I just turn up my own music and get to power walking and its great fun. Not to mention that you can do this dvd with limited space in your home. Its simple and effective....just the way I like things .

No Surprise - Great Workout.......2007-06-27
I have loved all of the tae-bo workouts I've done, and this DVD set is no exception. My only complaint is the group in the background counting down CONSTANTLY. Seriously, through out the entire DVD, they do not stop counting. I've never taken a class in person, or seen another DVD where this is done, and I find it to be very distracting and extremely annoying!!

This is the second dvd that I've tried of his that was awful. The other one was a Crunch video that I bought initially for my husband to try (there was no way a novice like him was doing it) which was terrible, but I ended up using it for the second workout which is done by Tracy York which rocks! Crunch - Master Blaster with Bonus Workout: Fat Blaster Plus Anyway, this one is also atrocious. He moves way too fast, is totally impressed with himself, and doesn't do any real consistent moves. Plus, it's just WAAAYYYY too long. Billy seems to think that we're all like him and have hours to devote to make ourselves look like him, which is phenomenal but not for me. I will never buy another Billy Blanks exercise program again.
Tae Bo Rocks.......2007-05-21
This is the second series of videos/DVDs I've purchased of Billy Blanks. This one is even more intense than the original Tao Bo videos.
My only complaint is that not anywhere in the description or on the box does it mention that you need the Billy Bands. Now you can do the exercises without the bands. And you probably should to begin with. I have since ordered them from Billy Blanks website.

Unfortunately I can't use the two DVD's, why the code 1 is not compatible with Europe. The others DVD's that I bought are working well. The code should be for "all" or number "2". What can' I do? It is possible to sent the two DVD's back?

Great workout. I have 14 different Walk Away the Pounds workouts. I alternate them, and even for those of us moderately fit, this workout will make you SWEAT!! The interval training with weights is great, and different from Leslie's other workouts where you use weights. The intervals using weights are slow, and challenging. Ususally you use weights and are going faster. I kept my heart rate at 80-90% of maximum. I keep a chart on the wall and check during the workout. This workout is great to add to the WTP workout.

This is without a doubt the best workout video I have. It is the perfect combination of aerobic and strength training in a 30 minute workout. I highly recommend it.

This is a great quick workout. It's 3-minute intervals of cardio and muscle work. I counted 160 squats in this video so it's a great leg workout! I started with 3-lb weights and increased to 5-lb weights, but I think it's a good workout without any weights at all. I recommend it!
A Great, Varied Workout!.......2007-05-10
I have used a few of her Walk Away the Pounds DVD's and I like this one the best, because of the interval training. It is a good aerobic challenge and I get an overall 30 minute workout. It's a great substitute for when I can't make it to the gym. I figured if it gets too easy, I can run through it twice.

At a time when we know so much about choosing safe, effective exercises, reissuing Cindy Crawford's 1992 best-selling disaster, Shape Your Body, is inexcusable. Swimsuit-clad Cindy puts herself through flings and gyrations that show off her body but aren't any good for anyone else's. She presents one after another of the exercises that fitness professionals threw out of their routines two decades ago because they're ineffective and risky to back and joints. Her alignment is awful; her control nonexistent. She rounds her back and flings her leg into high kicks. She does squats letting her knees go way past her toes. Even when the exercises are decently chosen and performed, she does them much too quickly, relying on momentum instead of muscle power, such as two-second bent-over rows. Trainer Radu, who designed and coached this workout, should be sentenced to an eternity of fast donkey kicks, leg swings, and trunk circles.
This "toning" video would be a joke, except that you really could get hurt following it. In fact, when Shape Your Body first came out, fitness expert Peg Jordan, author of Fitness Instinct, appeared on CNN warning viewers about the risks of this video. "I received a call from a chiropractor who had treated 12 patients' back injuries from that video alone!" she recalls. If you've got to have this one, watch it only, don't do it. --Joan Price

Over 100 videos and this one's my favorite.......2007-06-02
This was the first workout video I ever bought - when I was an overweight out of shape 13 year old. At the time, it was way over my head - so I have to say it's not a beginner friendly sort of workout. These days I do it all the time - even though it's now 15 years old. As "Celebrity" workout videos go - it's very good. Cindy Crawford leads the video, she's not just there while the instructor leads, and even waves Radu off a couple of times when he tries to interrupt her instruction. (It's actually very cute without being sassy.) There is minimal instruction - which I have come to prefer as I have advanced through higher levels of excercise videos. Video's that give lots of detailed instruction on form and placement are great - this is not one of them. You start the workout from the beginning of the warm-up and go straight through to the cool down. She does remind you to watch your allignment, but doesn't go into great detail about what that is. Other revievers have given excellent breakdowns of the sequencing - so I won't. There are short water breaks, which is really nice because you have the feeling of working out with her instead of having to miss a little bit of the workout. It is more toning based - which is what the title indicated - it's a shaping video. There is a little cardio benefit, but it's not the main focus of this video. The second workout is my favorite because of the long ab sequence. The "leg flinging" mentioned in the editorial review is actually very effective strength training for the legs which maintains flexibility and elevates the heart rate at the same time - it's similar to excercises I've done in dance classes and seen my husband do for martial arts. Overall, this is a great workout, there are lots of us who still do it even after all these years.

Don't do the whole thing the first time, even if you think you can.

3 Workouts in One.......2007-04-12
I love this video and have used it recover from two pregnancies! The first workout is a bit hard on the knees, and I often just do the second workout! The third I know by heart as it is only 10 mins and I often will stop and do it when traveling or watching another program!
It's a low-impact excellent all around motivating workout!

Great for your core!.......2007-05-12
This is definitely a good ab workout, especially for intermediate exercisers. I run about 4 miles every other day, and I use this alongside Billy's "Favorite Moves" in between running days. The ab workout is 30 minutes long, and there's a lot of focus on your waist. There are moves for your lower and upper abs too, but it's definitely waist-intensive. Most of the moves are done standing up which is a HUGE plus for me because I hate ab moves that put any strain whatsoever on my neck. Unlike Billy's Bootcamp videos, this ab workout does NOT require any extra equipment whatsoever--just a soft floor.

I am an avid Billy Blanks fan. I own several of his dvd's. This is a good workout for the abs, though i don't feel particularly sore the next day. I like it b/c it's 30 minutes, so it's fast and you still work up a good sweat even though you are primarily focused on your core.

This is a good ab workout. It has some challenging moves. Not the hardest to do. I would say it is a good intermediate dvd. You need 30 minutes to complete the workout.

This is a wonderful DVD, but get the heating pad out....My abs were killing me the next day...I bought two of his DVD's and they are both great...this is not particularly a beginner program, but hang in there....there will be better days

NORMALLY BILLY BLANKS WORKOUTS ARE VERY ADVANCED, BUT WITH THIS ONE THAT IS NOT THE CASE. I BELIEVE THIS DVD IS FOR EVERYONE! MOST WOMEN HAVE PROBLEMS IN THE MID-SECTION AREA, EVEN THE SKINNY ONES. MY ABS HAVE REALLY TIGHTENED UP. THIS WORKOUT IS NOT HARD AT ALL. MY ABS HAVE BECOME MUCH MORE DEFINED.

Sweat inducing, challenging, great workout........2007-06-05
This workout is a combination of weights, plyometrics, and cardio. FYI for those with knee issues there are a LOT of lunges, dips and squats in this workout. It is set up in sections with cardio intervals, then weights and plyometrics. I really enjoy this workout, Allison's attitude and cueing are great. I love that she is breathing hard and pouring sweat, because that is exactly what I'm doing! I must say I agree with the reviewer who pointed out that the camera work is sometimes unhelpful, showing only the modifier when transitioning into a new move. I find that to be the biggest flaw in an otherwise great workout.
Good workout but annoying camera work.......2007-05-29
I did this DVD for the first time today. Although I felt like I got a good workout and it was a nice change from the other 20 Firms that I've done, the camera work was just too amateur. At times, it focused on the girl with the easy moves so you could not follow along with the regular instructors. Also, there were times you could not see the leg work because it focused only on the upper half of the instructors. Whoever shot this video needs to learn from the original Firm camera people, who really knew how to shoot a workout video. However, I liked the plyometrics and speed moves because I felt I was going at different paces throughout the video and that is supposed to give you results faster. Worth a try.
AWESOME!!!.......2007-05-23
Alison Davis has quickly become my new favorite FIRM instructor thanks to her 2 new workouts. She has new, inventive moves and a very fun style that actually make you enjoy the torture! This is the only workout I have EVER been bummed about when it is over! She incorporates easy dance steps, kick boxing, and new "power moves" to target muscles as never before! I have always used The FIRM for my workout needs, but this workout accompanied with her Ultimate Fat Burning Workout has really made me get past a stubborn plateau. I am SO looking forward to MANY more workouts to come! Simply AWESOME!!!!!!!
Hard- But GOOD Hard!.......2007-05-21
I first watched the video to get an idea, and I immediatly put it aside, as I thought "that looks like way too much!" However, the other day I thought I would try it... well I did I couldn't finish it, but I will! The point is MAXIMUM Calorie burn is right! It is broken up into segments so you have moments to cool down and you don't fatigue your muscles at one time.... so I like it a lot and I can't wait to do it again and finish! If you want a good cardio video with basic moves that are not super dancy this is for you!

this is an intense workout. that first cardio segment is pretty tough. the weights are not that hard but your body definitely feels different after this video!
