A half-hour parody, Frankenthumb is one in a series of featurette pastiches of famous movies masterminded by Steve Oederkerk (Kung Pow: Enter the Fist) cast with human thumbs with CGI-inset mouths and eyes, a process that's more weird than funny. A précis of the 1931 Frankenstein, shot on impressive (and beautifully lit) miniature sets, the film tells the old, old story: megalomaniac Dr. Frankenthumb and his inept assistant Humpy create life in the laboratory, unleashing a monster named Pepper ("because he's brought spice into our lives") who goes on a rampage, menaces the daughter of a somewhat irritating Italian man, and is pursued by a mob into a burning windmill, whereupon a guest star from an earlier mini-epic (Bat Thumb) turns up to deliver some sort of an ending. One or two good jokes pop up, but not enough. --Kim Newman
Description
It's alive! Gasp at nonstop comedy in this outrageous spoof of the horror classic, direct from the mind of Steve Oedekerk (Jimmy Neutron, The Nutty Professor). Incredible stylistic detail brings you into a world of gothic laboratories, hunchbacks, and even a deceased Thumb brought back to life! Hold on to your electrodes!

This movie gives a green thumb a whole new meaning.......2003-08-19
Hello there. This movie is great! It starts off with a funeral then a scientist digs up the grave and turns it into Frankin Thumb! Oh right the middle is good the ending is good and the movie is good too. So enjoy!
"Pepper! Bad! Bad! Pepper!".......2003-04-25
The originality of Oedekerk's works are pure genius. From all that I have seen, these thumb movies will make you laugh over and over again, if not they will at least keep you smiling. I would recommend to anyone who is an Oedekerk/thumb movie fanatic.
I admit, it is not the best thumb movie of them all, but it was sure great. With all the visual gags that are pulled and corny little jokes that are made, this is a funny movie.
Franken-dumb.......2002-12-26
Oh wow. I was embarrassed to have watched this one. Poor. Pathetic. Lousy. If you're thinking about buying this movie, I'm speculating you've seen at least one other thumb movie before (if not, check out a ditty called Thumb Wars first). Let's just say this: Frankenthumb is not that funny and doesn't live up to the expectations set by Oedekerk's work before. You won't find much worth quoting unless you like long, mundane monologues. Set design and animation aside, it isn't that great of a movie. A very, VERY disappointing video. The DVD extras are actually better than the feature itself (which isn't hard to do, I suppose). You'll be better off with just about any other thumb film you can find. But PLEASE don't succumb to buying this one, even if it IS a complete series.
lives up to the greatness of the others!.......2002-12-07
I am happy to discover that Frankenthumb is every bit as good as the other thumb parodies! If you are planning on buying this and have seen and liked any of the others you will not be disapointed! If not and you have any of them at a video rental in your area you should pick one out.If you are satisfied with it buy the box set containing the current six thumb parodies!
Aso like the other dvds this contains hilarious extra footage!
my favorite since "thumb wars".......2002-10-26
Bat-thumb was good, thumbtanic kinda stunk, blair thumb- pretty good, Frankenthumb- really good. Oedenkirk goes back to his evil/funny ways in this diddy. There are precious little gems in the writing that only Oedenkirk could do, and they are in a German village (so the accents are hysterical). Thumb Fans: rejoice.
