Christian (Wes Ramsey of the washboard abs) is a waiter, party boy, and first-class man magnet. Elder Aaron Davis (Steve Sandvoss of the goofy grin) is a straight-laced Mormon missionary. When he and three elders, including the uptight Ryder (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Mysterious Skin), move into Christian's Hollywood apartment complex, it's clear something's got to give. Christian tries to make his new neighbors feel welcome, but they're put off by his flamboyance--the short-shorts, the rainbow flag in his yard, etc. When Christian's trash-talking pals at Lila's restaurant, including the cynical Traci (Amber Benson, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), bet that he can't seduce one of these clean-cut young men, he takes them up on it and sets his sights on cute, soft-spoken Aaron. As a pretense, he asks to learn more about his Church, but where they really connect is over their love of old movies, everything from Psycho to Tommy. When Aaron accuses him of being shallow, however, Christian starts to wonder if the bet wasn't such a good idea--plus he's starting to fall for the guy. Turns out the closeted Aaron feels the same way about him, but when his roommates find out, he's shipped back to Pocatello where he faces excommunication. Written and directed by C. Jay Cox (Sweet Home Alabama), a former Mormon missionary, Latter Days features Mary Kay Place as Aaron's disapproving mother and Jacqueline Bisset as the acerbic, yet supportive Lila. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Description

Huge festival and theatrical hit, Latter Days is the story of 19-year-old Elder Aaron Davis, a sexually confused Mormon missionary who moves into an apartment complex in West Hollywood with a fellow group of missionaries. There he meets a neighbor, Christian, who, on a bet, tries to seduce him. When Christian exposes Davis' secret desire, Davis rejects Christian for being shallow and empty. As each boy's reality is shattered, the two are drawn into a passionate romance that risks destroying their lives. Audiences, young and old and straight and gay, have been moved to tears by this beautiful story of the transformational power of love and family.

4 out of 5 stars One of the Best of the Genre.......2007-06-22

I have read many positive reviews of this film and only 1 negative review (from gay.com amazingly enough) so I expected good things and was not disappointed. Of the two leads, Mr. Sandvoss (Aaron) is clearly the better Actor while Mr. Ramsey (Christian) is great eye candy and has the unrequited love thing down ! Mr. Ramsey's character Christian is a bit of a cliche - much like Dean Cain's shallow pretty boy in "The Broken Hearts Club" and the supporting cast here is largely forgettable, save for Ms. Bissett. Mary Kay Place, an excellent Supporting Actress, has an all-too-brief but powerful role. Ultimately all that matters is the love story between Aaron and Christian and it is bittersweet and wonderful. The last ten minutes of the film are true tearjerkers.

5 out of 5 stars An Awesome Tolerance Movie.......2007-06-12

I really enjoyed Latter Days because I found the love story between Aaron and Christian to be touching, and I also believe that the meaning of tolerance came out in this movie. I almost cried due to the epic scene with Aaron in the bathroom. If you liked Brokeback Mountian's forbidden love story, you will love the forbidden love story of Latter Days.

5 out of 5 stars Best GLBT Movie I've seen in a while.......2007-06-09

2 very sexy actors and it ends right. Great movie, great love scenes, the unrated version is much better than the watered down version they've been playing on LOGO.

An epic and extraordinary true story--or, at least, an extraordinary story based on a novel (Alan Burgess's The Small Woman) based on a true story. Gladys Aylward (an improbably mesmerizing Ingrid Bergman) is a British would-be missionary with an obsession about China. As she has no experience, the Missionary Society won't let her go, but she goes anyway, alone, to a remote northern province. She is hated, then loved; finally she becomes both a significant political figure and the heroine of a miraculous escape in which she shepherds 100 children to safety across the mountains just ahead of a Japanese invasion. Curt Jurgens is suitably stony as Lin Nan, the half-Dutch, half-Chinese military officer who falls in love with her, and a visibly ailing Robert Donat (who died before this, his final film, was released) is the wily local mandarin who sees and makes use of her extraordinary abilities. Directed by Mark Robson, The Inn of the Sixth Happiness is a sweeping, stirring tearjerker, a big tale told in a big landscape with acres of orchestrated strings by Malcolm Arnold. A beautiful and beautifully made film that's a classic of the "everyone said I couldn't but I did it anyway" genre. --Richard Farr

Description

All her life Englishwoman Gladys Aylward knew that China was the place where she belonged. Not qualified to be sent there as a missionary, Gladys works as a domestic to earn the money to send herself to a poor, remote village. There she eventually lives a full and happy life: running the inn, acting as "foot inspector", advising the local Mandarin and even winning the heart of mixed race Captain Lin Nan. But Gladys discovers her real destiny when the country is invaded by Japan and the Chinese children need her to save their lives. Based on a true story.

This was a movie about the human will to survive through war torn countries with a group of children in a school. After a period of time the war begins to worsen and she leads the children out of the country and into safety through many odds along the way.Outstanding actors in his movie.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent missioary story.......2007-06-13

I have watched this video many times and I really am inspired each time. I bought it for a missionary friend and she was impressed as well. It is well acted and most interesting. It follows the book about Gladys Aylward fairly well but the book is also worth reading for more details on her life adventure.

This is one of my all time favorite movies and now on DVD I loved it all over again. Great actors and acting. Wonderful and inspiring story.

4 out of 5 stars Read a good book about Gladys!.......2007-06-02

The movie is a wonderful movie and great characters and inspiring. When you are done watching it, get a good book about the real Gladys and learn why she was so loving. When faced with the hardships she went through it is not enough to feel like it. She believed in Jesus Christ who put the love in her heart to do what she did. She was complete not because of a man's love, which did not really happen, but complete in Christ. She obeyed God no matter who said what or what the circumstances were and God showed His faithfulness to her. Seek out her source of love: Jesus. Great movie--read the book!

While the primary lesson of Beyond the Gates of Splendor is about the power of Christian love, this extraordinary documentary transcends its missionary message with a universal tale of cultural exchange, murder, and the ultimate act of forgiveness. After establishing that the Waodani Indians in the Amazon basin of Ecuador had endured several generations of violent homicide among tribal neighbors, the film's central story begins to unfold: As American missionaries discover the Waodani in the mid-1950s, their Christian outreach goes smoothly until 1956, when lies and misunderstandings lead to the spear-killing of five of the missionary men whose wives and children--including narrator Steve Saint (whose father was among those killed)--responded to tragedy by living peacefully among the Waodani over the decades that followed. Through home-movie footage, photographs, and eyewitness accounts by American and Waodani alike, this incredible-but-true story of love and understanding unfolds with considerable power, urging the viewer to consider the meaning of this remarkable example of unified humanity. Is the missionary impulse a pure and beneficial one? Are the Waodani best left alone and ignorant of the wide world beyond their village? With deep tragedy, rich humor, and an overwhelming sense of compassion, writer/director Jim Hanon ponders these and other questions, hampered only by an overbearing score (by Ronald Owen) that's lushly beautiful at best, but too often maudlin, manipulative, and shamelessly heavy-handed. It's likely that Christian viewers will be most deeply affected by the film's thematic parallels to the lessons of Christ, but anyone with an ounce of compassion will be similarly moved and astonished. Not surprisingly, Hanon later dramatized the factual events of Beyond the Gates of Splendor in his 2006 feature film The End of the Spear. --Jeff Shannon

Description

"Beyond the Gates" is a feature length documentary film experience about the Waodani Indians and the missionary men and women who have given their lives to reach them. This powerful emotional journey begins with the Waodani describing their way of life before the missionaries visited them in 1956. Narrated by the son of one of the missionaries and each of the wives of the men who died, the audience takes a nostalgic trip back in time to see how the men and women came to meet up with each other in Ecuador. An inspiring story of forgiveness and love.

3 out of 5 stars Secularized presentation of a Christian story.......2007-05-09

This documentary assumes that you have seen the movie, or at least you know what it is all about. If you haven't, or you don't, then you will probably have some trouble following the dramatis personae of this drama. It starts in medias res, that is, there is no preparation or introduction. You have many Indians telling you pieces of the story, mentioning people's names that you don't have any idea who they are. Then come the missionaries (one assumes they are Christians, though this point wasn't made that explicit either) talking about such and such. By minute 30 I still didn't know who was who, or who was married to whom, etc. Very aggravating. I got the story alright. But the presentation is, I regret to say, very poor and disorganized.

I also agree with Michael M. Long (another reviewer) that this is practically a secularized account of a Christian missionary story. Disappointing.

2 out of 5 stars A most secularized account of the lives of several 20th century missionaries.......2007-03-28

This was a most disappointing purchase. I know the historical account of the missionaries who went to Ecuador to reach out to the Waodani. This documentary gave a very, very secular account of what happened.

Gone from the documentary are any mentions of the name of the Lord Jesus Christ (how can you have this possible in a documentary about how the Lord changed the lives of an entire tribe?). There is a tremendous gaping hole in what were the motivations of Nate Saint, Jim Elliot, and the other missionaries in going to Ecuador. There is absolutely nothing about their love for the Lord Jesus Christ and their desire to spread the gospel to an unreached people.

The gospel is not even mentioned through the documentary. At one point, the anthropologist interviewed mentions that the Waodani changed from their warring lifestyle because they were given 'new information' from the missionaries. What was this 'new information?' The documentary completely fails to mention that this was none other than the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, and that the entire tribe changed because they all got saved!

My 90+ minute DVD says it is an abridged version. Maybe this version somehow cut out all the references to the gospel and the Lord Jesus. I don't know.

In summary, this documentary completely fails to give God the glory He deserves.

5 out of 5 stars Great background info on End of the Spear.......2007-03-18

5 out of 5 stars WOW! isn't enough!.......2007-03-10

You just can't deny the power behind this great book! Once you pick it up, you won't put it down. Steve is a strong man, along with the rest of his family. I thank God that he has dedicated his life to continuing the spreading of the gospel to all the tribes in South America.

The swashbuckling adventure, Nate and Hayes, is a long lost prototype for the more recent Pirates of the Caribbean. Morally-intact pirate, Captain Bully Hayes (Tommy Lee Jones), adopts Nathaniel Williamson (Michael O' Keefe), a reverend's son, to fight the ultra-villainous, slave-trading pirate crew headed by bounty hunter, Ben Pease (Max Phipps). Hayes makes a living illegally selling weaponry to native islanders, but that's nothing compared to the misdeeds his ex-friend Pease has lately undertaken. After Pease's shipmates pillage and kill everyone related to Nate and his fiancé, Sophie (Jenny Seagrove), Bully Hayes springs to action, motivated by his own romantic interest in Sophie, which develops as the plot thickens. Nate and Hayes looks and feels like Indiana Jones, with Disneyland-like island sets, Tommy Lee as the heroic, charismatic guy full of one-liners, and natives costumed with generic "native" bones through the nose, feathered headdresses, and grass skirts, making it easy to date this film according to Harrison Ford's classic. Plentiful sword-fighting scenes and shots of pirate ships sailing the open seas guarantee to please pirate buffs, though Nate and Hayes doesn't have the swarthy power of classics like The Black Swan, or those starring Errol Flynn. --Trinie Dalton

Product description

4 out of 5 stars Savage Islands.......2007-06-16

This is one of Tommy Lee Jones best movies - heaps of swashbuckling action and one liners, and I think this is one of his best roles ( the others being "The Futigive","US Marshalls" and "Men In Black").
In Australia this movie had the title "Savage Islands", which in my opinion wasa much better title than the lame sounding "Nate And Hayes".

This is a great flick for any lover of adventure movies, and its not as B grade as some reviewers have made it sound. If you have actually looked this up on Amazon then you are the kind of person who will like this movie - just buy it as its cheap and more than worth it.
Four stars from me!

4 out of 5 stars Family connection.......2007-03-08

It wasn't as I thought it would be - a story of Bully hayes' life - it was a short span, I expected more. Besides which I had to get the DVD decoded to play in this country. But it was a good pirate-style film with action to keep you awake. The reason I bought the film is because Bully Hayes married my great-great aunt.

3 out of 5 stars Relatively Modern B Movie Adventure.......2007-02-14

This film is not the quality one would expect from a name like Tommy Lee Jones but it does have its moments. Watching it is like watching an old B movie serial with more modern effects like color and scripts.

Jones plays Capt. Bully Hayes, a south seas scoundrel with a reputation for piracy. He is hired to transport a young couple to the island where they plan to marry and become missionaries. The young lady on her way to be married is a bit nervous. She does not seem like she is ready to settle down to such a calm life. Even so, she is resigned to it but not without a little act of defiance. She takes some of her money to "invest" in the dashing captain's maritime exploits.

After dropping the couple off, the couple's island is raided by slavers who think they have killed everyone except the girl, who is naturally taken prisoner. They try to leave evidence implicating Hayes and plan to use the girl to trade to a barbarian king in exchange for basing rights for the expanding German navy. She is to be a human sacrifice in the style right out of the Saturday matinees.

Meanwhile, Capt. Hayes has decided that he has a romantic interest in the girl and turns back to get her. He find a very hacked of fiancé who believes that Hayes is the cause of all his woes. Together, this unlikely pair head out to rescue the damsel in distress, take on the Imperial German Navy and clear the Captain's name.

The film is full of unlikely plot devices and rube Goldberg contraptions but it does have a certain brassiness about it. It was fun to watch but is certainly not worth keeping near at hand. It might be best suited for entertaining some unruly boys on a rainy weekend.

4 out of 5 stars Great pirate movies.......2007-01-09

This is such a classic! If you enjoy a movie of the PIRATE genre, then this is it! "Pirates of the Carribean" must have studied this to help make their movies such a success.

4 out of 5 stars Finally found it!.......2007-01-03

Ok, aside from the silly title, this is a pretty fun family movie. It stays decent, so you can watch it with your kids. Plenty of action for the boys and a little romance for the girls! I've been searching for this movie for years, ever since I saw it on an airplane when I was in elementary school. I never knew the title, all I knew was that it was a swashbuckler and had a girl in a white dress and headhunters in it. Thanks to an e-bayer for selling his videos from the 80's, I finally found it and ordered this DVD for my father who always wanted to see it again too!

5 out of 5 stars Flattering Considering the Obstacles.......2007-06-18

This documentary points out that relatively new religions have the disadvantage of having a paper trail leading to its origin. Mormon's have a sorted and well documnted history of polygamy, the Mountain Meadows Massacre, and racism. The director tried to be fair considering that those issues would have been the elephant in the room if ignored. Don't quite a few religions have similar origins? These themes aren't exclusive to Mormons.
I have several friends that were Latter Day Saints. Two had wonderful experiences with the group while the third one refers to it as a controlling cult. The documentary didn't comprehensively explore the control issues that some ex-mormons seek recovery from. The director was more than fair to the Church in not pursuing rhis angle of the story.
I plan to buy the film on DVD as soon as it comes out.

2 out of 5 stars An incomplete story.......2007-06-01

This was an interesting film of what non-mormons think the Mormons believe. A majority of the film was spent interviewing those who were either not members or those that had left the church. A disproportionate time was also spent on contraversial issues that were an unfortunate but a small part of Mormon history. Most of the actual beliefs and practices of the church are not included in this film.

1 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE!!.......2007-05-31

Bad, boring, and deffinitely not accurate. If you want a false representation of the mormon chuch, this is just the video for you. I was very disappointed in PBS and I'm questioning the accuracy of their other programs in which I know little about.

4 out of 5 stars This answers many questions.......2007-05-07

This video, recently seen on PBS, is balanced and fairly comprehensive. It gives enough history to put the LDS church in perspective through the years. The 'story' moves along fast enough that an overall picture was developed before the viewer was overwhelmed or became disinterested. It is well worth watching again!!

5 out of 5 stars Important lesson in American history.......2007-05-04

Whether you are a believer in the Mormon faith, a skeptic, or are generally unfamiliar with this Christian denomination, you should be able to appreciate this in-depth documentary about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

This documentary, produced by PBS Frontline & American Experience, does not try to promote the faith for purposes of expanding its membership, but it takes an unbiased path to explain the Mormon religion from a historical perspective.

The lengthy documentary cover many issues regarding very relevant aspects of Mormon history and modern Mormon culture. Many opinions from knowledgeable historians are offered to help dispel the myths & misunderstandings about the faith. There are many positive aspects about the church that are introduced to those unfamiliar with Mormonism. Several topics discussed may not sit well with some modern members and believers, but they need to keep in mind that the pursuit of truth is not about denying or hiding from factual history, but about telling the whole story whether or not it is a source of pride or a source of embarrassment.

"The Mormons" deserves to be watched with an open mind, in the spirit for which it was produced. It is an important and very relevant part of our American history, whether you are a believer or not.

cant really consentrate on the positions because the whole time the 2 doctors are talking about the positions

2 out of 5 stars Not that good.................2006-02-01

If you have had ANY sex outside of the missionary position - this is not the movie for you. We found it very boring. Nothing we hadn't tried before (and we are not THAT adventurous). And... the actors... hello?? Could they at least be attractive and not keep showing the guys hairy butt!!!

4 out of 5 stars Not really that educational.......2006-01-31

If you've never seen one of these movies before, they're all a little bit like watching a porno. This is one of the better ones, most of them aren't very educational. There are some basic sex-ed things they go into that's a little ridiculous but it's a pretty good video. For being a DVD though, the quality was a little on the rough side.

4 out of 5 stars better sex video.......2005-09-21

I feel it was very informative, but the naration by the doctors made it seem like they are speaking to young people. I just got a divorce, so do not have a partner right now, so do not know if the positions work!!!!!!!!!!

My wife and I found this video both educational and informative. Let's face it, one of the best aphrodisiacs is novelty and there is plenty of novelty in this DVD. It's nice that they used real people and the expert commentary was very permission giving. It has definitely helped our relationship.

4 out of 5 stars Good Christian Movie!.......2007-03-30

I thought this was a good movie, with a solid action drama story to go along with the christian message of love and hope.

5 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL!.......2007-02-28

I saw this movie on TV for the first time and right away began looking for it to buy. Last Flight Out is a very clean Christian movie but in no way would I call it lame. It works great for a family movie or a witnessing tool. In this story you have a hard headed, unsaved man - a very 'joyous' Christian - a dedicated Christian woman (who is also a women of prayer) - and a father who is bitter, and afraid of losing his last child. So basically, it covers all the bases.

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding.......2006-04-02

Wonderful mix of suspense, drama, romance. Columbian terrorists try to distroy a South Amerian village. Well-written. Teaches character, integrity, and insight into life's ulitmate purpose. Definitely 5 stars. After watching it on TV, I had to buy it!

2 out of 5 stars Safe, nice, pleasant, but otherwise disappointing .......2006-01-31

This is an ok movie for a Saturday afternoon. It's inoffensive and perhaps a little more dramatic that an episode of the A-Team and only provokes the viewer to wonder what exactly other actors do do when not working on bigger movies. This is not to say most of the characters don't gel, they do, it's just that the end product is a hodgepodge of something resembling a turd that even though stepped in refuses to offend the steeper.

About the actors involved, I can fully understand most of the actors making an appearance in this movie, except for the delectable Miss Bobbie Phillips who has so much to offer dramatically, sensually and erotically. Bobbie is excellent at times but the script and general lack of story slows her rhythm down and refuses to ignite any real feelings of suffering or tragedy the movie deals with.

Can't help feeling the movie could have been artistically better and more exciting had it not been tied down to so many moral underpinnings.

Product Description

This is the story of a missionary who died alone on a desolate island within sight of the land of his life s dream, unaware that he had forever changed the face and the race of Christianity. During the Age of Exploration, the world began to shrink as more and more Europeans journeyed far from home where they met the peoples of Africa and the Americas, India and the East. While the history of exploration and globalization tells of murderous mistakes and tragic ignorance, one man s encounter with the diverse world looms large as one of compassion, invitation, and grace. Narrated by Academy Award-winner Liam Neeson and filmed on location in the footsteps of the Jesuit missionary, Xavier: Missionary & Saint, features stunning scenery from Rome, Spain, Paris, India, China, and Japan as well as interviews with world-renowned scholars in the fields of history and theology. Through scholarship and image, Xavier commemorates the 500th anniversary of the birth of the most successful missionary since St. Paul. 5 out of 5 stars Excellent Video! .......2007-03-08

I heard from others that this was a very good video, so I went ahead and bought this since I was interested in Xavier and his life. I was not disappointed. It was beautifully done and gave me a good understanding of his life and how he followed the will of God. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to donate it to my Catholic Church's library so others could also watch it.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent, High Quality Documentary.......2006-12-19

I was skeptical when I first saw this film, because I was sure it was just more of the video hagiography-style type stuff you see on cable. I was very pleasantly surprised. It is an excellent film and its quality equals that of a PBS documentary. Liam Neeson is terrific as the narrator and the cinematography is breathtaking. I highly recommend it.

Fennessy

Huge festival and theatrical hit, Latter Days is the story of 19-year-old Elder Aaron Davis, a sexually confused Mormon missionary who moves into an apartment complex in West Hollywood with a fellow group of missionaries.

1 out of 5 stars I really wanted to like this movie, but..........2007-01-03

I got this DVD to show it to my friends from Church around Halloween. I really wanted to like it because it is a Christian film and because it has Chuck Norris in it. But it was really bad. The acting was bad, the dialogue and story were silly and there was hardly any action. I decided that I would not put my Christian friends through this punishment and I never watched it with them. I will probably trade this movie for something else at a local movie trading store.

1 out of 5 stars Silliest movie i've seen in a long time.......2007-01-02

"Bells of Innocence" is about three guys who are flying to Mexico in a small plane to deliver bibels. Their plane runs out of oil and they have to land in the middle of nowhere, somewhere in Texas. They find a small town where there is no phone and everybody's acting strange, especially the children. Chuck Norris appears as a mysterious man with a horse. After a while it turns out the town has been taken over by the devil or something like that and that our three christian heroes must save the children.

Even though I know that whenever a film stars David A.R. White, the film is always some sort of christian propaganda, and usually not well made. Still, "Bells of Innocence" was surprisingly badly made. The special effects were what you might have expected from a 1960s movie, and all of the dialogue, and the entire story, was laughable.

If you're looking for a good movie, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a Chuck Norris movie, look elsewhere. He only plays a minor character. If you're looking for a movie that preaches christianity, this might do, and it's also worth watching if you like really bad movies, because it's so bad it's entertaining.

5 out of 5 stars Christian Zombie Western Supernatural Horror Buddy Film.......2006-06-15

A gutsy and ingeniously approached spiritual warfare drama about battling demons, both one's own and in intercession. Intense and horrifying--as a movie dealing with Satan, soul stealing, and the horrors of hell should be. Mike Norris plays "Jux," a man out of fellowship and in a dark place personally after his wife left him, blaming him for their daughter's death. Yet Jux agrees to pilot his Christian buds Conrad and Oren to transport their collected Bibles to Mexico. The plane crashes outside "Ceres," a place that "doesn't even look like the planet Earth, man," "dirt, and a lot of sky," "not a place but a what." Hmmmm....Ceres, I recall from mythology, was the Roman name for the goddess who went looking for her daughter that was kidnapped by Hades. But that's not spoiling the movie, it's full of surprises--though yeah, it's about setting captives free. This movie's desert town of Ceres is populated by mark-bearing drones with superhuman strength and kids dressed like Little House on the Prairie...and then there's supercool "Michael," played by Chuck Norris, of course. "Bells of Innocence" caught my eye in the store at a time when I'd been praying for wisdom for what to do after I heard an other-worldly, threatening voice come out of a zombie-like shell of a person whose eyes normally were lifelessly void or displayed flashes of imprisoned fear, not the blazing hate that accompanied the demonic voice. Anyway, "Bells of Innocence" helped me to stand firm in faith, to strengthen my commitment to Jesus, to intercession, and to "fear not man who can kill the body but not the soul." My only reservation about the movie is that it's too scary for most kids. Everything else about it I found impressive: story, acting, music, production and underlying biblical message.

5 out of 5 stars Original, Mesmerizing Thriller.......2006-04-12

Bells of Innocence is a thriller with a Christian faith-based theme, but is not too preachy, and succeeds in the creator's efforts to appeal to secular as well as religious audiences.

Chuck Norris stars as the mysterious Matthew, who assists three friends whose plane has crashed in a remote, sinister Texas town that is not found on any map. Mike Norris, Chuck's son, plays Jux, a tormented soul who has lost his faith with his young daughter's death. The three friends soon find themselves in a battle against Satan's minions for the souls of the town, and most importantly, the children who are being manipulated and used.

Though this film may be billed as a family movie, with no nudity or profanity, this is a dark thriller for adults. There are terrifying and violent scenes. The movie starts off slow, but it pulls the viewer in and scares you as bad as any secular horror film. Do not watch this film at night.

As far as those Amazon reviewers who have panned the film and said the acting was horrible, if they can genuinely cry as Mike Norris did in the climatic scene, then I would take their comments seriously. The acting was not horrible. It was solid, especially the villianious Joshua, played by Marshall Teague.

Very odd is that the only actor who WAS poor, David White (Conrad), looks exactly like Chuck Norris. I spent the entire movie thinking that White was Norris' son. Mike Norris in reality looks nothing like his father, and even looks the same age as Chuck. This movie is worth checking out just for this anamoly.

1 out of 5 stars Dopiest movie EVER!.......2006-02-22

We picked this up on a whim from Blockbuster. Why they even carry this film, I don't know. Our local one has about 4 films (i.e. their selection is about as broad as a toothpick) and for some lame reason this is one of them. Suffice it to say: The acting is really, really, bad and the story is really, really stupid. Don't waste your time, money, brain cells on this one!
