It turns out to be just one of many perfect celebrity voice-casting choices, for the farm animals, voiced by an all-star cast including Oprah Winfrey (the goose), Robert Redford (the horse), Steve Buscemi (Templeton the rat), and John Cleese (the sheep), lend plenty of sharp humor. My Oppinion: Charlotte's Web is an excellent movie very entertaining for all ages.

About the film: The movie is about a spider who bfriends a young pig and tries to save his life by writing on her web's and the two becomes good friends.

My Oppinion 2: This movie is a great story about friendship. this was a very good film, they didn't change much from the animated version which is great.

I loved watching this with my children. They kept rewinding it back to their favorite parts. Dakota Fanning really brings Fern's character to life, and Templeton was hilarious. This movie, taken from the classic by E.B. White, should be both read and watched, for, although most of the main characters are animals, they personify something significant about the human spirit. Some pig, some movie! Enjoy it!

Charlotte's Web, based on the classic tale, is a sweet adaptation of the classic novel. It is becoming increasingly rare that the entire family can sit down together and enjoy a movie together. This is one that is perfect for families to enjoy as the movie dislpays the importance of acceptance, friendship, and sacrifice. The voice work here is outstanding, especially with Julia Roberts as the voice of Charlotte. Dakota Fanning is charming as usual. This is a sweet and fun film well-worth 4.5 stars. Enjoy. My family sure did.

Great, great, great! I cried the whole time because the animals are just soooo cute! The picture was colorful, and the community where the town folks lived reminded me of home in Louisiana. Wish I could move to that farm when I retire. All should watch it and learn a lesson from the animals about being different but having the same idea about helping a friend in need.

Season One of "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List" is finally available, and the nice folks at Bravo have even gone the extra mile to tack on "Kathy Griffin is...Not Nicole Kidman" which is a stand-up special from 2005. I don't know what I've enjoyed more! Kathy is so quick and so impulsive, even the members of "Team Griffin" it seems are often surprised at how funny she is when she's not even trying. Even her stand-up special is so original and unscripted, it's like watching one big improvisational conversation, between Kathy and her audience. My only gripe is that the Bravo people found it necessary even here on its DVD release, to 'bleep' the explatives like they do for the TV broadcasts. While it might be a bit more family friendly, Kathy's cusses make it all the more chuckle worthy. (***Check out Kathy's DVD "Allegedly" for more uncensored laughs than you can handle. ***) All in all, it's a great DVD. Looking forward to Season 2 of My Life on the D-List. Thanks for all the laughs Kathy!

I love Kathy Griffin and I love this show. I really want a deluxe set with all three seasons and the specials included. I also want the show to last all year long and air three hours a day. What I really want is all Kathy, all the time.

Ok, Kathy Griffin is not for EVERYONE. However for those of "US" she is for, there is just NO one that will make you laugh harder! Kathy has that special way of telling her stories and her observations are keen and whitty. No one is "safe" (including Kathy herself) from her stories and she finds humor in it all. Can't wait for season 2 on dvd. (and you can watch season 3 on bravo Tuesday nights all summer.....Ok kathy...you OWE me Girl!)

FROM ONE REALITY SHOW HATER TO ANOTHER, THIS SHOW ROCKS...!!!.......2007-06-15

The one thing that's always bugged me about reality TV, is the fact that most of it looks staged ("Gee, I think, for no readily available reason, I'm gonna take off my cloths and jump into this public swimming pool...") but that is the one thing that grabs you from the get go in this show, is that Kathy Griffin seems so frazzled most of the time (what with her self proclaimed D-list status, making her do twice the amount of work, for half the recognition) and doesn't really seem to notice the camera invasion, about 95% of the time (the other 5% has her playing to the camera like any comedian worth their salt would, being as cuttingly insightful as she can be, and ripping on anyone she can get her mind around, including, herself).

It's GREAT to finally get the whole first season (with the second to follow, fingers crossed) on DVD, as here in Canada, it was next to impossible to find it's air time on the station that was broadcasting it, and as a result, I only managed to see an episode and a haf of the show, but what I did see was a funny, oddly cute, but also vulnerable, side of Kathy Griffin ("don't call me GIFFORD!!!") that wasn't so much evasive (as most reality TV tries to be) but more documentaries, in a wholly entertaining and unabashed look into this funny lady's hectic life.

Just a note, yes the censor bleeps are still there, but in all reality, I think it adds to the hilarity of the show (kind of like Yo' Semity Sam, from the Buggs Bunny Show, when he'd curse under his breath, you couldn't quite make out what he was saying, and that only made it all the more funnier).

Or is it just me?

Jody is the kind of guy that every 1970s teen looked up to. He's in his early 20s, has a cool car, splendid '70s hair, leather jacket, plays guitar and (naturally) snags all the girls. His little brother, Mike, in particular, admires him and emulates him at every turn. Things start to go astray, however, when the two brothers and their friend Reggie attend a funeral for a friend. Mike notices a tall man working at the funeral home; in the course of his snooping, he sees the tall man put a loaded coffin into the back of a hearse as easily as if it was a shoebox. Jody doesn't believe his little brother's stories, though, until he brings home the tall man's severed finger, still wriggling in what appears to be French's mustard. From there, the film picks up a terrific momentum that doesn't let up until the sequel-ripe twist ending.

Phantasm was one of the first horror movies to break the unspoken rule that victims were supposed to scream, fall down, and cower until they were killed. Instead, Mike and Jody are resourceful and smart, aggressively pursuing the evil inside the funeral home with a shotgun and Colt pistol. Furthermore, the script has a great deal of character development, especially in the relationship between the two brothers. The film even has a surprisingly glossy look, despite its low-budget origins, and little outright gore (except for the infamous steel spheres that drill into victims' heads). This drive-in favorite was a big success at the time of its release, and spawned three sequels. Little wonder; it includes an inventive story, likable characters, a runaway pace, and, of course, evil dwarves cloaked in Army blankets. The end result is one of the better horror films of the late 1970s. Hot-rod fans take note: Jody drives a Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda, the pinnacle of 1960s muscle cars, rounding out his status as a Cool Guy. --Jerry Renshaw

Interesting but not scary.......2007-06-19

Plot: A kid on a bike, his brother and a funeral home. Then a tall man whos turnin people into some kind of demons or slaves. It had somewhat of an atmosphere to it but this wasnt that great. I mean it was boring, long, and the ending made no sense at all. Low budget dosent have to mean bad but this one was close to it. It kept me watchin till the end hoping something good would happen but it ultimately disapointed. They 'overdid' the music. I was watchin the scenes and it was that continuous loud score playing over and over. I guess it was for the 70s but far from the best horror movie.

Oh, the fond memories of watching an old, worn-out, crackling VHS tape of dubious origin, in a dark garage-turned-creepy-livingroom, on an aging TV. This remains one of the scariest and coolest horror films I've ever seen, despite some issues with effects.

One of my major horror movie gripes has to do with the color and consistency of blood--I know that's a relatively minor quibble to some, but to me it's an important aspect. The blood in this movie is too red and has the opaque appearance of latex paint. The yellow fluid that the Tall Man bleeds also has this quality. My circle has always referred to it as "banana pudding". But, this is one of the few films wherein the blood thing doesn't take me out of the moment at all.

The first sentinel sphere death scene is dramatic, and the Tall Man is nothing short of iconic. Sound and silence are used to great effect, and the score is awesome. The film also captures a unique period in history, the strange transition from the '70s to the '80s, which adds to the bizarre atmosphere. Goofy hairstyles, characteristic over-the-top slasher effects and a dash of self-effacing camp. Fun!

I'm glad to see this released on DVD, finally, and with lots of great extras. What a treat! It's a shame it took so long. The last time I saw this film, I was about 13, and was afraid that, like so many other half-forgotten old favorites, it wouldn't stand up to the test of time. Well, glad to say I was proven wrong. So horribly wrong.

Phantasm is just a cool, fun, undeniably creepy film that captures a unique snapshot of a particular era in the history of horror movies, and certainly deserves a place on anybody's shelf. Cock your quad-barrel shotgun and bust out the banana pudding, it's time to break some balls.

phantastic philm!.......2007-05-14

OK so now that I've annoyed you with really bad phonetic jokes....for the brave few willing to get past that obvious mark of bad taste....phantasm is a truly unique addition to any horror fans library. i remember first seeing the film many years ago and the starkness and eerie quite of the mausoleum is something that has always stayed with me. the flying orbs are a great vehicle for terror. If you are new to Don Coscarelli's movies I hope this will encourage you to check out the sequels to Phantasm and of course the mighty Bubba-Hotep! (Long live the king!) The movie has a great balance of drama and good old 70's cheese (not over the top in my opinion....just enough to make you sit back and smile). After all when was the last time an aging ice cream vendor with pattern baldness was a hero!!? All kidding aside though, as a pretty avid horror movie junkie, and a fan that looks for really good horror films that continue to stand the test of time....this is one of them!

David Lynch Forever.......2007-05-13

This book is a mixture of interviews and an overview of Mr. Lynch's career. I'll be the first to admit that he's not the best at interviews. He gives none of the magic of hios movies away. Which I for one think is a good thing.
Out of all the books on the subject, this is the best.

I thought the entire package was just great! The stories were interesting and humerous and I loved the way the ending was written. You aren't left hanging, wondering, unfulfilled. The acting is superb and I am so glad that I can watch Six Feet Under anytime I want too. I was appreciative of the price - it was almost $200.00 less than on other sites.

I'm writing this review in order to achieve closure following my immersion into the entertainment vortex known as Six Feet Under. This television experience is a 63 episode exercise in Morbid Curiosity. Each episode progressively illuminates and multiplies exponentially the dysfunctional personality characteristics of every major participant. Initially, the characters offered little attraction for me, but the intelligent script galvanized my interest and I was powerless to withstand the psychological chemotherapy that coursed through my psyche during each episode. Clever sidebar dramatized daydreams added comic relief and insight into the multitude of traumatized psyches. Individuals who choose to evade unpleasant facts or situations, controversial sexual topics and avant-garde discourse should avoid this mesmerizing series. Mentally unstable or depression-prone individuals will disintegrate rapidly if exposed to repeated viewings. This DVD series should be the dedicated visual textbook for "Understanding and Recovering from Death 101". Most individuals flee from the topic; I suggest that you succumb to this immunization and build strength for the day when Death in one form or another demands your attention. Perhaps the mentally stable individual next to you will ensure your psychological safety during your 63 episode exposure.

I'd rate it 10 if I could!.......2007-06-21

What a truly life-changing series! I didn't watch this on HBO but caught it on Bravo. My husband and I got so into the nuances of the Fisher family and their struggles, triumphs, life defining moments and everything in between that after season 2, we just bought the box set and watched it over 2 1/2 days! This included taking a day off work! I wouldn't recommend watching it in that short amount of time because we were so devastated by the ending that it was truly depressing. You don't just watch the show, you invest in it emotionally. You can't help it. The Fishers become your family. You root for them. You laugh with them. You cry with them. Lessons are learned for those who pay attention. I know it sounds crazy but I evaluated my life so much after that show that I changed professions into something I truly love. I was happy in my comfortable life but SFU really shows you that at the start of each episode, life is too short to not be happy or strive to be a more self accepting person. This show was by far the best show the grace the small screen. Beautifully written, impeccable casting, even the lighting is amazing. You will never regret owning this box set!

How Much Would You Pay..........2007-06-18

for the greatest television show of all time?

I'm going to stress to you right off the bat that for those of us who followed this show as it aired... we would have bought this set at five times the price. As I write I also find myself envying those of you who will get to experience all of it for the first time. Enough waxing nostalgic though. Let me just say get past the price (which is honestly a very good deal if you work it out), that's the last time I'll mention that.

Six Feet Under is about a family that owns a funeral home. Like all great things you can sum it up in a sentence, but the substance of it doesn't come across in less than... well in this case... about 62 hours. In the show we follow Nate, who fears death and hates funeral homes. David, who starts off as a self-hating gay man who may just want to stop being a funeral director. Claire, our rebellious young woman finishing high school. Ruth, the mother of the bunch... a highly neurotic and fickle woman... and everyone who comes in contact with the family during the course of their business.

I will say that though the show can hook you from the close of the first episode, the characters don't really feel completely fleshed out until about the fourth or fifth episode. Then again there are some shows that NEVER flesh out any characters.

You can trace the entire voyage of the show to Nate. It is about his fear of death, and the death business. It's about how he matures over the course of about six years... to me, all else is secondary. David's struggle with who he is, Claire trying to find herself, and Ruth attempting to find her place in the world now that her children are all grown up... all of those stories are brilliant as well, but they still mostly center on Nate.

This truly is the best show that has ever aired. The weakest season of it (four) is still better than everything else out there. You WILL be hooked from the first episode... and unlike so many other recent series finale's... you will not be left hanging, nor will you be disappointed.

I've not yet come across one human being who is not moved to tears at least a few times a season... and not yet met a person who hasn't sobbed at the end.

Television can be art, it can move you, it can challenge you and shake you up. It can change your life. The proof is in this package. Get it.

Kathy Griffin's Life is D-list - only according to her. To her fans, she is A -list all the way, and this DVD proves it! 'Allegedly' is Kathy at her uncensored, straight-up, no-holds-barred, un-bleeped best. This a stand-up routine from 2004 that is just as hysterical today, and it's definately something you'll watch over and over. Whether she's dishing on Brooke Sheild's mom, Gwyneth, Barbara Walters and the ladies of The View or any other random celebrity in Hollywood, Kathy shoots straight from the hip, and takes aim at everyone! A MUST-HAVE!.......2007-03-31

Anyone with a best friend should have this movie. All the people in Fried Green Tomatoes played their parts with great enthusiasm and with heart. Staying close to the book by Fannie Flagg it focuses on Idgie and Ruth, as well as Evelyn and Ninny, showing how friendship blossoms and stays strong through out the years. The cast is sterling - No one could have played the part other than Jessica Tandy as Ninny, an elderly lady in a nursing home that brings her humor and stories to a sad candy-consumming middle age Evelyn Couch, played brilliantly by Kathy Bates. The two strike a friendship as Ninny relates the story of Idgie Threadgood (played by Mary Stuart Masterson) and her family as well as her unique friendship with Ruth Jamison (played by Mary Louise Parker). Cicely Tyson does an excellent job as Sipsey, a woman who is a cook at the cafe in Whistle Stop. There is romance, intrigue, murder, and suspense as well subtle and explicit humor. Having this movie brings parts that weren't even in the original movie or in the first video or dvd. I am glad I waited to get the extended version and plan on sharing it with MY best friend. The setting for the story is beautiful and no one should miss watching the Bonus Material as they describe how a town they chose for the movie was almost a ghost town but they brightened it up and more people have chose to live there now. You will laugh, you will cry, but you will also understand what life is all about...friends...best friends.

This big, fat theatrical bomb has a lot going for it. There's the three leads, Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker, playing three resurrected witches who wreak havoc on Salem, Massachusetts, 300 hundred years after they were hung. There's music, special effects, and magic. There's a surprisingly horror-filled plot. Whoops, hold up on that last one. It's probably the extremes that this film goes to (displaying a Disney label), such as the witches sucking the life out of a little girl in the first five minutes, that put the brakes on any success for Hocus Pocus. This movie brings back so many memories of my childhood.

I remember when I was younger and it was around Halloween, I would watch this with my sisters and NOTHING would get me more excited for trick-or-treating than watching this movie. I also remember that my sisters and my cousins and I would make movies and we made a movie about Hocus Pocus. All of us would sing the songs and pretend that we were the witches. And even watching this 10 or more years later, I notice things that I didn't when I was younger and I still absolutely love this movie.

This movie starts out with a boy, Thackery, and his sister, Emily, getting lured by witches. The witches literally suck the lives of children to stay young. The witches suck the life out of Emily but they turn Thackery into a cat. The townspeople find out what the witches did and hang them but the witches tell them that they will return. Hundreds of years later, they do return when a boy named Max and his sister, Dani, and Max's crush, Allison, light a candle that causes them to come back to life. The kids meet Thackery, the talking cat, who tell them that the witches have returned to suck the lives out of children. The rest of the movie has the kids fighting to get rid of the witches and successfully return Thackery to his sister.

This movie needs to be in every household. No matter what age you are, everyone can appreciate a good movie. And THIS is a good movie.

As upscale sitcoms go, Something's Gotta Give has more to offer than most romantic comedies. Obviously working through some semi-autobiographical issues regarding "women of a certain age," writer-director Nancy Meyers brings adequate credibility and above-average intelligence to what is essentially (but not exclusively) a fantasy premise, in which an aging lothario who's always dated younger women (Jack Nicholson, more or less playing himself) falls for a successful middle-aged playwright (Diane Keaton) who's convinced she's past the age of romance, much less sexual re-awakening. As long as old pals Nicholson and Keaton are on screen discussing their dilemma or discovering their mutual desire, Something's Gotta Give is terrific, proving (in case anyone had forgotten) that Hollywood can and should aim for an older demographic. Myers falls short with the sitcom device of a younger lover (Keanu Reeves) who wants Keaton as much as Nicholson does; it's believable but shallow and too easily dismissed. Myers also skimps on supporting roles for Frances McDormand, Amanda Peet, and Jon Favreau, but thankfully this is one romantic comedy that doesn't pander to youth. And the "someones" are Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton, who give wonderfully sweet and sassy performances in this story about Destiny almost thwarted.

Jack plays a quitessential playboy. It seems he has a new girlfriend every week. Only this time perhaps he's found "the one" in Amanda Peet. Enter Diane Keaton, Peet's mother. A successful playwrite, she is hardly looking for romance. Comfortable in her static, routine existence, surrounded by her characters, living her life vicariously through them at times, Keaton seems blissfully unaware of her own appeal. (Typical to any Keaton character, which is likely part of her basic charm.)

Keaton and Nicholson have a battle of wits, a battle of charms and an ultimate battle of hearts (notwithstanding Nicholson's heart attack about mid movie.)

In the closing minutes, the question is looming... will they or won't they? And I won't spoil it... you'll have to watch it to find out.

but I will say this... the movie is satisfying in its conclusion and is remarkable throughout. I LOVED it!

This fun, silly movie would be a great date movie. 2 icons of the Baby Boom generation visiting all the relationship stereotypes we've grown up with over the years - and finding each other.

I could have lived without Jack Nicholson's naked butt, but hey, the more things change ... the more they stay the same. What can you say about Nicholson? He's fresh, fun, charming, warm and heart-rending in the role of the over-the-hill playboy who finally falls in love. Keaton is adorable, as always, and I could fall in love with her myself.

Keanu Reeves is the proverbial heart-throb, but it is true that being with someone younger than you doesn't make you feel young - it makes you feel old. There's something to be said for sticking with your own cohort. There's more to relate to.

All I have to say, is that this is my favorite Keaton movie and my favorite romantic comedy! I love her in Reds, Annie Hall and Mrs. Soffel, but for me, this was her best performnace (so far)...Nancy Meyers is a great director and who doesn't like Nicholson. Warning guys, it is a chick-flick, but a great date movie!

The movie gets 4 stars for entertainment value. It, however, is a historical piece, and as one that would be so widely viewed, they should have used less 'artistic license' for what was already a fascinating period. The aesthetic qualities of the film are excellent, no doubt, but often foray into some Vegas-style midieval fantasy. Kate Blanchett is a decent Elizabeth, but can not even come close to Glenda Jackson's spellbinding portrayal. Geoffrey Rush as Walshingham is good, but exaggerated. The rest of the cast is so laughably inaccurate, especially the Duc d'Anjou, Dudley and Cecil.

Best way to watch this movie...clear your mind of any notion that the characters portrayed were in any way real historical figures!

I enjoyed this movie for many reasons. I loved the story and plot. I was amazed at the costumes and scenery. The actors and actresses were surperb. This movie got me into reading a little bit about the Tudors and why she was called a [...]. Before I started to read about the Tudors, this movie confused me a little bit. When I read a little bit about the time, I understood this movie a lot better. I know that Dudley did not betray Elizabeth and was loyal to her until his death. Elizabeth knew that Dudley was married before Cecil told her. There are many historical inaccuracies in this movie and that started to bother me when I read a little bit of history.

Visually Stunning "what-if" version of Historic Royal.......2007-05-12

I was almost as much enamored by the stunning visual feel, cinematography and lighting-effects of this film, as the performance by Miss Blanchette. This film ranges in tone: from silly to grave timbres, certainly covering the catharsis of emotion, as well as creating believable characters (with a glaring exception or two: you be the judge) ...this film would round out the many colors in a collector's set of biographical royalty movies. I'm not sure I'd watch it five times a week, but I'd make sure it didn't gather too much dust in my collection.

This is one of my favorite movies. It is amazing to watch the character visibly grow up from a young frightened girl to the powerful queen whose riegn is called the "Golden Age". The music and costumes are both amazing, the dialogue is witty and the use of historical quotes brings a sense of authenticity to the film. If women such as Elizabeth I, Catherine the Great, or Cleopatra interest you this film will definately be for you.
