CYCLE SLUTS emphasizes sex much more than violence and even contains a strong strain of improvised humor. A couple of shake-sipping chippies are picked up at a roadside burger joint by a pair of girl-hungry hog jockeys. Porno guys got cheap multi-year leases on most of " The Deuce" and surrounding blocks. Formerly unrentable retail stores became "storefront theaters." A plywood partition was built to house the projector, the back wall was painted white or a sheet hung up, a few dozen folding chairs were lined up, and the windows were blacked out. Usually a window had something on it to entice you in - a painted silhouette of a naked woman or a glaring cheap sign, framed out in yellow light bulbs, proclaiming "XXX Movies." Now, After Hours Cinema and yours truly, 42nd Street Pete, are going to give you the storefront theater viewing experience. But we can only show you this collection of classic films, painfully restored from their original grimy elements.

Save your money and invest in a Pet Rock. You'd get amusement from it than you will from this dreadful film. I picked it up at a Blockbuster previously viewed movie sale. Thank god it was only 1.99. And now I know why. IT'S AWFUL. I honestly tried to watch this movie, but I had to fast forward through most of it because of the insipid dialogue and trite premise. It tries to come off as a serio-comic romance, but it's boring, predictable and trite. If you come across it, lie very still and it may just sniff you and leave you alone. If it doesn't, may God take mercy on your mortal soul.

Serious Spackled With Comedy.......2002-07-23

I actually really enjoyed this movie--a lot. I throw this movie into the category of the successor to those relationship movies such as About Last Night and St. Elmo's Fire, but with a somewhat lighter tone. I thought the ending was well done. The characters and their situations felt real. I don't want to give parts of this movie away, but there are a few interactions with the guys that I found hilarious.

I wish the DVD had more features--actually, any features. Apparently, they did not want to spend a lot of time to put any of those special DVD perks before they shipped it out.

I know everyone who watched this movie wouldn't like to comment on it because of the title of this movie. But I'd like to take the plunge and be the first person to review it.

I accidentaly knew this movie from an ad on a portal site of South Korea, which was Brooke Shields with a cigar. She is famous and popular in my country, so I wanted to watch this for a try.

This movie is for mature audiences, but not so-called an adult movie. You can't expect a stuff except a slight upper-body one. That's usually good for most viewers.

For the content? It's just what men and women are all about for the ages in this movie. You knew it before you will see this. If you'd like to know it, you don't have to know it.

If you have time and nothing to do, it would be an option to watch this movie. But it would be better for you to watch other better movies, if you'd choose to watch a DVD/VHS.

Just watching your familiar actresses will be fine and that's all. I don't know how familiar they are because I can't watch U.S. TV series except very famous ones in my country.

I received the DVD of this movie for Christmas and had no idea what to expect. I have never seem any thing like it and probably never will.
It is a crazy mock sexual documentary made in 1971. If this movie came out today it would be a shocker with the topics they explore. The movie is laugh out loud funny. The middles does drawn out a bit and some parts are less funny but it is a must see for a comedy fan. I was speechless after watching it being amazed what I had just seen. 5 stars. Gold Medal for the Sex Olympics.

This Is One Funny Movie!.......2004-04-30

Is There Sex After Death is an hilarious documentary styled spoof of the sexual revolution of the 1960's and 1970's. Starring and directed by famed hoaxer Alan Abel, and featuring some wonderful improvisational comedians like Buck Henry, Marshall Efron, and Rubin Carson, the movie rolls through a series of funny, tongue in cheek vignettes that will keep you laughing throughout. My favorite bits are Abel's tour through his Bureau of Sexological Investigation, Efron's interview as a porn filmmaker, and the classic finale: couples competing in the International Sex Bowl. This movie is one of the memorable comedies from the 70's.

Hilarious Spoof.......2002-07-27

IS THERE SEX AFTER DEATH? is perhaps the funniest motion picture spoof about the 70's "sexual revolution." A documentary styled crazy quilt of sketches and interviews, the film features hilarious bits from Buck Henry, Marshall Efron, Rubin Carson, Holly Woodlawn and others. The film's narrator and director, Alan Abel, is famous for pulling off media hoaxes including a phony organization to clothe all naked animals (he once condemned the Bronx Zoo as a moral disaster area) and a bogus school for beggars. The movie's final sequence, The International Sex Bowl, is a fall down laughing sketch complete with competing couples and a Wide World Of Sports style announcer. This one's a must!

I must say, I didn't have a clue who Alvin Lee was or 10 Years After. Now I know! What a great guitarist!!! I certainly felt like ripping his clothes off as he ripped that guitar up, so I understand how those groupies felt. Unfortunately, most of them come across as boring, un-attractive, brainless air-heads! If you are looking for "Penny Lane", you won't find her here! I enjoyed the segments with Cynthia Plaster-Caster and Pamela Des Barres, the most famous groupies and no need to identify them, I know them by sight! I didn't have a clue who the other girls were. It would have been nice if their names were pictured somewhere during their interviews, so I could put a name to a face! More could have been done to spruce up the dvd! It will become obvious how a pretty girl (though no raving beauty) like Pamela Des Barres became "the most famous" groupie....most groupies (judging by this dvd) were hideously ugly! Other famous (and BEAUTIFUL) groupies, like Catherine James and Christine Boris, are not on this, just so the buyer knows...

Great soundtrack.......2001-11-26

Besides giving us a look into a 60's phenomana, the groupies, we get to hear some of the most blistering songs ever played by Ten Years After back intheir prime. The band is still great today, but the playing due in part I believe to ingested chemicals, is what made this group the best of all time. Alvin's fantastic guitar work, Leo's sympathetic bass lines, Chick's moody but not down keyboard work, and last but not least Ric Lee's penominal drumming show whay this was the band no-one wanted to follow on stage.Listen and savour. Unfortunate Title - Great Movie.......2005-06-09

It's great.

The affair between an older woman and a younger man, the impact of this on her family, and on herself when it ends, is shown in a way that is hilarious, serious, and sympathetic.

Why I liked it:
* The true awful self-centeredness of love is not avoided. There is acknowledgement of just how ridiculously we behave, but at the same time a respect for the strength of these feelings.
* The surprising way that some of the people around the affair reacted to it.

I'm considering showing it to some of my middle-aged women friends. "Look what happens when you take something like your appreciation of that waiter just a bit too far ...."

Insane love affair leaves a lot to be desired.......2003-04-13

This movie was okay if your cable has gone out and you're tired of watching Tracy Lords videos. LadyHendrix says her friends say she talks about this movie too much. I agree. Insanity loves company. I have seen this movie and I have seen LadyHendrix act it out and I would say in comparing the two, LadyHendrix's version was much more entertaining. Of course the movie has more then one actress and that limits LadyHendrix' scope somewhat. But the film lacked a great deal of what I like to call "realism." This was obviously made during the free spirited 60's and maybe those that love it remember it through a fog of LSD. It does not hold up well while sober, straight or sane. But LadyHendrix's verions can be enjoyed as a great piece of performance art and should be filmed and released as a respectful homage.

one of my favorite.......2000-05-17

This is the French movie "Post coitum, animal triste" with English subtitle. When it was shown in theatre in New York city in Spring 1998, I watched it three times, because this is the perfect movie for me, with the beautiful scenes, interesting characters, story, etc. The story is about a middle aged book editor with a husband and two kids, who fell in love with a handsome young man and went destructive. It is interesting that the cover of the videotape version released in the U.S. is dark and full of hints for sex, while the cover of the version availabe in France is very bright and colorful, with the heroine herself and the background of a Greek isle under the sunshine.
