3 out of 5 stars Alien Cheese From Canada.......2004-02-25

This is easily one of the silliest coming of age sagas ever made. Made in Canada and starring Judy Landers as "Miss Xenobia", an alien disguised (with excessive makeup and gigantic hair) as a college biology teacher. "Dr. Alien" is somewhat like "Weird Science" combined with "Hobgoblins" in overall texture and concept. The plot revolves around the transformation of Billy Jacoby from nerd to extremely cool (for mid 1980's Canada) studmuffin. Along the way many silly situations typical of the genre happen, and poor Billy Jacoby gets a comical looking, yet disturbing additional appendage (which talks, but it's not what you think) that helps him out with the ladies.

I am particularly fond of the scenes in the bar, both for the rankness of the music and later the Hobgoblins-esque (though with better special effects) brawl. Three stars, it definitely has mid 1980s camp value, which will make you laugh if you are so inclined, but it isn't outrageous enough to watch repeatedly.

3 out of 5 stars B-movie classic.......2003-12-09

The plot is pretty standard. "Geek" is asked to help his (gorgeous) substitute biology teacher with an experiment. All of the sudden "geek" gets cool and has amazing...self-confidence...at least partially due to the pheremones put out by the thing poking out of his head. Turns out the substitute is an alien out to save her race by experimenting on hapless humans.

So can our geek ever get the one girl he wants, instead of the hundreds he doesn't? Get the show and find out.

3 out of 5 stars one hot alien.......2001-12-30

if you like campy b-movies then you must see dr.alien, it,s funny, it has judy landers, tons of hot sexy women, what more could you ask for.

4 out of 5 stars anyone who likes cheesy 80's, will like this........2000-09-10

This is a big time cheesy 80's movie, but I'm sure if you like stuff like that (I do), this is a good investment. It's also got a little T&A which I'm sure can't hurt at all.

1 out of 5 stars Your kidding right?.......2000-07-11

You actually want to know about this movie? Look at it. Buy STEWARDESS SCHOOL instead if you want to see a Judy Landers movie.

In the mid-1960s, with Dalekmania sweeping Britain, BBC TV's Doctor Who materialized on the silver screen. Doctor Who and the Daleks replaced William Hartnell with Peter Cushing and remade the Daleks' TV debut with a much bigger budget in Technicolor and Techniscope. With his two granddaughters, Roberta Tovey and Jennie Linden (and Roy Castle along for comic relief), the Doctor becomes an intermediary in a conflict between the robotic Daleks and angelic Thals on the almost-dead world of Skaro. A huge hit on release, the film remains an enjoyable, well-produced family adventure, though somewhat lacking the menace of the TV original. --Gary S. Dalkin

5 out of 5 stars A Dalektable Lark.......2007-02-14

This 1965 film and it's 1966 sequel "Daleks-Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.".Were made cheaply and quickly to capitilise on the immense success the Daleks were having on the kids of Britain at that time.(Myself included)
You could buy Dalek toys,sweets,wallpaper,Pyjamas and slippers, sounds familiar doesn't it?
The reason the Doctor was changed to an eccentric "Professor type" from an Alien were for reasons of simplicity. At that time the Doctor Who TV show was not playing in as many countries as it is now, so no complicated and time consuming back story would be needed,
and it made audience identification that much easier with the various members of the cast.
~~~~
The producers,(New Yorker's)Subotsky and Rosenberg approached the BBC to see if they could use the TV show's distinctive theme music, but due to the high price the Beeb wanted, they gave up on that Idea.
This Film is an edited version of the first Dalek story shown on TV in 1963,with marginally better production values.
This film did much better at the box office then the sequel.
As a long time Doctor Who fan,(Episode six,Dalek Invasion of Earth,December 1964 was my first episode.), I have to admit the Daleks in these films are a long way more visually impressive then they were on the TV show.
Happy memories, I can still remember my Mother taking me to the Pictures to see this Movie and the sequel.
Both these films were made for a family audience, so get a big tub of popcorn, lower the lights, and watch them with your children!
(To see who the real stars are in this film notice the size of text "Doctor Who" get's compared to "The Daleks" on my house poster picture!)
2 out of 5 stars A curiosity piece for Doctor Who fans.......2006-09-01
Although I'm a great fan of Peter Cushing, I would have much preferred the original cast of the show in this feature film version of the Doctor's first encounter with The Daleks. My biggest complaint is the way the character of the Doctor has been rewritten for the movie. Instead of a Time Lord from another world, in the movie you get the impression that the Doctor is nothing more than an eccentric inventor. He is not nearly as interesting a character. Cushing plays the Doctor as a lovable, doddering old man. It's a shame because this movie could have been quite good. Instead, it's not much more than a curiousity piece for the die-hard Doctor Who fan.
4 out of 5 stars new and old.......2005-12-18
the daleks are strong but they could never take over a planet with staires they could not walk up them for years and years this has been the daleks weakness when the time war was in place beetween the daleks and the timelords different time machines were destroyed a red phonebox who beolonged to this is true the dentist the red phonebox was known as the margate the tardis being known as the last time machine was also the most famous was prosumed to be destroyed the doctor a timelord the last of the timelords every dalek was an enemy to the timelords but they most feared the doctor because they ran into him the most and over time they were all wiped out one by one whitch made them all scared of him remember the timelords all wiped out giveing there lives the save the intire universe and the doctor still keeps to his duty trying to save the universe with no help from his people DID I MENTION IT ALSO TRAVELS IN TIME?
1 out of 5 stars A Sad Recreation.......2004-04-23
Overall, this movie was not impressive. The characters seemed to be too stereotypical for my tastes, with the eccentric inventor, the hapless but cute girls, and the clutsy but well-meaning guy.
Gone is the mystery of the Doctor and Susan's origins. Gone is the darkness of the script. I know, I know, the original series was a bit lame, but that's because of the budget. The script by itself was suspenseful. This recreation had none of that.
In fact, the only thing I find likable about this was the TARDIS' interior. It was an interesting change.
5 out of 5 stars GOOD DOCTOR - GOOD MOVIE!.......2004-03-25
"Dr. Who and the Daleks" is a fine film version of the television classic! A great addition to anyone's science fiction film collection! Grade: A-
1 out of 5 stars A waste of money.......2007-06-02
Talking heads and really bad graphics. Nothing new.
Out of the Blue is by far the best UFO documentary to come along in recent years. Although I've yet to see a completely objective UFO film.
1 out of 5 stars Not worth your time and money. What stunning new footage???.......2007-04-22
There is no stunning new footage. Why did they sell something saying there is when clearly there isn't! All it is is 90 mins of experts talking.. and talking.. and talking.. it almost put me sleep! No substance, or exciting new information. It's just them giving their opinions on the same boring crap we've heard for decades. And don't get me started on the poorly designed graphics and robotic host. I could've made this DVD myself, really! Just take a bunch of experts, sit them down and have them talk for 90 mins, and make sure to plug their books. There is nothing new in what they're saying.. it's all been said and done before under a new "clever" name.. Fastwalkers! Absolutely boring. Nothing new. Move on.
4 out of 5 stars WHAT'S WRONG WITH SUBTITLES?.......2007-03-16
SOMEBODY KNOWS ABOUT THE SUBTITLES?
I LIVE IN MEXICO AND I'M REALLY INTERESTING IN THE DVD.
I WENT TO JAIME MAUSSAN'S CONFERENCE, AMAZING! AMAZING!
HE KNOWS EVERYTHING!
5 out of 5 stars Fascinating and comprehensive.......2007-02-22
"Fastwalkers" is the kind of UFO documentary that ought to put to rest the notions that UFOs can be explained by mundane causes, and, more significantly, that we are the sole inhabitants of planet Earth. Expert testimony from retired military personel, air-line pilots and private investigators lead to the same conclusion: we are not alone.
Yet the mass media refuses to treat this subject with the seriousness it deserves and perpetuates the illusion that the UFO is irrelevant. The evidence, however, is overwhelming. Across the globe, from Brazil to Belgium, the UFO is an acknowledged phenomenon. Yet the major media in the US enforce a virtual black-out to preserve the fiction that the UFO doesn't exist. Jaime Maussan has been airing UFO footage on Mexico's "60 Minutes" for years, yet we in America remain in the dark.
This documentary pulls away the veil of secrecy to reveal the truth about the ET and their long-time presence on what we like to think of as our planet, Earth.
5 out of 5 stars One of the best UFO documentaries ever done.......2007-01-21
I had my first flying saucer sighting back in the late 1950's and have been interested in this phenomena since then. I am an investigator for the Mutual UFO Network, have a bookcase full of books and videos on UFOs, and consider myself an expert on the subject. The 'Fastwalkers' DVD is one of the best UFO documentaries ever done and includes interviews with many of the top people studying the UFO phenomena. I would highly reccommend this video for anyone who wants to learn more about the UFO subject.
What the Marx Brothers rubbed off on the Beatles, The Three Stooges rubbed of on the Chesterfield Kings! Humorous romp with the Kings of Rochester that compliments the films "Help"(Beatles) and "Head"(Monkees). If Tarintino made a Rock and Roll movie I would envision "Where Is The Chesterfield King". Very enjoyable! Great to see an appearance by Paul Revere and the Raiders own Mark Lindsey. Fun for All!
2 out of 5 stars Good movies......very bad quality picture and sound.......2001-01-12
The Slime People has always been one of those favorites of mine. I was excited to be able to get it on DVD format. Unfortunately, the transfer of the original to DVD has been done so badly, that the film is nearly unwatchable. And the sound is warbly to say the least. Perhaps they simply had a bad original to work with. It is still fun to watch though....just not very well preserved.
Creature was transferred with about the same disregard for getting a decent quality of picture recorded on the DVD format. It's a shame that two fun movies were recorded this badly.
I'd recommend this DVD for anyone who likes old flicks, The Slime People is one of the classics of low-budget B&W California sci-fi. Just don't expect to see high quality video or hear decent sound because the thing was recorded very badly.
3 out of 5 stars Pre-Alien film is very original and has some good scares........1999-02-09
I enjoyed this movie, which is about a trio a aliens that terrorize a small backwoods town. It has a few good scares and came out before Alien, so it can't be billed as a ripoff.
