There's a reason you haven't heard of this straight-to-video "sequel" to the seamy teen romp that had Ryan Phillippe baring his polished behind: it's twice as bad as the first one and is only worth a look to see just how embarrassingly buttless it can get. Writer-director Roger Kumble's original was no classic, Lord knows, but at least the game, nubile cast knew how to smack its lips--his follow-up (which, in tamer form, was to be the pilot for a proposed series called Manchester Prep) can't even pout properly. Phillippe's Sebastian character (here played by a bland, doughy Robin Dunne) is carted back out to be reintroduced to scheming stepsister Kathryn, enacted by a woefully unsexy Amy Adams (Sarah Michelle Gellar played Sebastian's ripe cousin in the first film). The two don't hit it off, and Sebastian--far more sentimental than his big-screen counterpart--immediately decides he's all for love, in the form of pristine deb Danielle (Sarah Thompson). It all amounts to a ponderously cartoonish nothing, including a twist ending that renders everything proceeding it completely incomprehensible. Kumble has the film spouting homilies on love and self-esteem, then randomly throws in bare breasts; it's like a horny Saved by the Bell, without the kick or pacing of good camp. --Steve Wiecking

First movie is ALWAYS the best one than the second movie.......2007-04-16
This movie is pretty odd and little mix-up parts but it's ALMOST the same as the first movie. I always like the first movie better than this one. I ordered this movie because of Keri Lynn Pratt and that I really loved the first one and I was hoping this movie would be great one but it's not. I still have this movie but I hardly watch this movie because my boyfriend really love this movie so I dont bother sell it. Our things is ours so. I am warning you guys dont order this movie unless you REALLY want to see it then go rent a movie BEFORE you order it!! Save your money!!
up, down, back and forward, faster, faster.......2006-07-02
3 stars for the scene with Kery Lynn Pratt and the horse. Also
Amy Adams is to die for
Just horrible.......2005-10-14
I've seen the first Cruel Intentions, which I didn't like very much. Compared to this movie, the original looks like Casablanca. I watched this one on DVD. You can see why it's direct to video. i understand the characters are the same because it is a prequel. But the dialog and plot were virtually the same. What do you get with this one: cheap exploitation, racial sterotypes, and a ridiculous, unfathomable ending which is cut off all too soon.
First one=intriguing, second one=biggest mistake ever, third one= redemption.......2005-09-05
Now the Second one is pretty bad and tries too hard to be as good as the first. It is very hard to create a sequel as good as the first but this one certainly proves that point. Jurassic park two Lost world is worth it compared to this one. don't even waste the $3.00.
The Worst Sequel I have seen to date.......2005-05-08
This movie has horrible acting, and a storyline that is so farfetched its in outerspace. This is definetly not a movie for young people considering the constant inuendo and sex scenes. This movie only gets 1 star because that is the lowest option. If I could really choose it would get none. It is best to stick to the first which at least had wit and direction. Cruel Intentions 2 is the same storyline just trashier.

Cruel Intentions
This modern-day teen update of Les Liaisons Dangereuses suffered at the hands of both critics and moviegoers thanks to its sumptuous ad campaign, which hyped the film as an arch, highly sexual, faux-serious drama (not unlike the successful, Oscar-nominated Dangerous Liaisons). In fact, this intermittently successful sudser plays like high comedy for its first two-thirds, as its two evil heroes, rich stepsiblings Kathryn (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Sebastian (Ryan Phillippe), blithely ruin lives and reputations with hearts as black as coal. Kathryn wants revenge on a boyfriend who dumped her, so she befriends his new intended, the gawky Cecile (Selma Blair), and gets Sebastian to deflower the innocent virgin. The meat of the game, though, lies in Sebastian's seduction of good girl Annette (a down-to-earth Reese Witherspoon), who's written a nationally published essay entitled "Why I Choose to Wait." If he fails, Kathryn gets his precious vintage convertible; if he wins, he gets Kathryn--in the sack. When the movie sticks to the merry ruination of Kathryn and Sebastian's pawns, it's highly enjoyable: Gellar in particular is a two-faced manipulator extraordinaire, and Phillippe, usually a black hole, manages some fun as a hipster Eurotrash stud. Most pleasantly surprising of all is Witherspoon, who puts a remarkably self-assured spin on a character usually considered vulnerable and tortured (see Michelle Pfeiffer in Dangerous Liaisons). Unfortunately, writer-director Roger Kumble undermines everything he's built up with a false ending that's true to neither the reconceived characters nor the original story--revenge is a dish best served cold, not cooked up with unnecessary plot twists. --Mark Englehart

First is good, second is eh..........2005-01-18
The first Cruel Intentions was such a good movie, Actors you actually hear of, & can relate to(kinda), Sarah M. Gellar, Ryan Phillipe, and Reese Witherspoon were good charactars... The second one is not all that great, for some reason the story seems to be identical to the first, As much as I like the first, I wanted something different for the second, The charactars also had the exact same names, but they are clearly different people, They should have gotten the same actors if they wanted that!!!!!!!! No wonder it was a straight to video release, no one wants to pay to see the same film twice, stick with the first one, and I just got the 3rd(hopefully its a DIFFERENT story), but if I hadnt seen the first, I might have liked the second, but the reason I didnt is because it was the same story with inferior actors/actresses playing the roles, so 4 1/2 stars for the first, 2 1/2 for the second, It averages out to 3 1/2 stars.
Best Intentions.......2002-09-23
This movie is amazing!! I loved it. I watch it every chance I get.
Cruel intentions.......2002-01-25
I loved the first movie (big fan of Sarah Michelle Gellar). The rest of the cast was also great in their roles. The basic plot is that Sebastian and Catherin are step siblings and they have wanted to ahve sex but know they can't (family reasons), so they make a bet that if Sebatian can sleep with Annette (the headmaster's daughter) that he will sleep with Catherine, and if he can't sleep with Annette, Catherine will get his car. The movie takes off from there and it is a great film for a Friday/Saturday night!
The second one, while great for a laugh (horrible acting, the actors do not even resemble the original cast) and it was cut from the series that they were going to make of the movie (Manchester Prep, never aired).
I will give it five stars (not going to punish it because of the prequel)
Such a bad movie they made a second!.......2001-09-20
The first movie was full of hammy and snobbish acting. Perhaps it was the point of the first movie to just be rude and awkward because the plot of this movie is that a boy bets his step sister that he can sleep with the new girl on campus. This is not an original plotline, but the added twist is that if the boy sleeps with this new girl, as part of the bet the step sister will give herself to her step-brother. Take that for what its worth. There was a good crop of rookie actors in the first movie, but then the second movie is not worth it at all. It was a B movie... which is why it went straight to video. If your a frustrated teen boy, you will love this movie for its sexual content. Otherwise, it is greatly overacted and over dramatic.
Manuvering and Mundame..........2001-09-05
I suppose as a 'teen' movie, and in comparison to other teen movies, Cruel Intentions could be seen as a 4 star flick, especially when you consider the above average acting of it's a-list cast.
Cruel Intentions, however didn't do anything except bore me. Obviously the actors cannot be blamed. The plot and direction (or lack thereof) is what seriously stunts this film. This is an R-rated movie. Why it was dumbed-down to the degree that it was baffles me. Cruel Intentions could have been far more vindictive, sexual, and ultimately more entertaining (and given the ending much more weight in any event), if the director had spun it in a more coherent way.
Alas, this movie falls completely flat on it's face. I found it neither funny, romantic or engaging - or naughty enough to keep me interested. The only good swing in this movie is that in the end, both characters get what they deserve. There are a lot of things that could be made into a movie. Why this book was ever made into a movie I'll never know.

One of my all time favorite movies. I have enjoyed watching it over and again.
Brilliant.......2007-01-25
This was a truly fantastic film! I thoroughly enjoyed it and would watch it over and over again. It is a very clever film with an excellent cast including Ryan Phillippe, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Reese Witherspoon and many more. It is, however, a certificate 15 and for good reasons. There are sex scenes, drug refernces and coarse language. However, it is a great movie with many surprising twists and turns and an unexpected ending that leads you through the journey of true love and what people will do to get hold of it!
A great watch, this film deserves to be purchased.

I love young love. I enjoy a romantic movie that contains it as well. I lose myself in romantic movies that are well made and that have characters that make me want to know them better.
I know this is a movie remake made in modern times and I am thrilled that it is the first one that I saw. The chemistry between actors was sensational. The scenery was exquisite. I loved the opening scene and every single scene in between.
If you like romantic movies, you'll love this film.

Melissa Yvonne Lewis?.......2005-12-02
I watch this bec. or Melissa Yvonne Lewis, remember Joe Schmoe where she play the rich bitch, she did a superb job on that show, but on this movie, her acting is just a mediocre.
on the movie - just average, very predictable, nothing really exciting
This film sucks.......2005-10-14
Two guys at a college prep school make wagers on seducing naive young girls, and then meet their match when they agree to see which one can seduce the most popular and devious girl who has her own agenda to everything. I think this film is really sucks but I loved Cruel Intentions 1 and CI2 but this film sucked.
a worthy sequel.......2005-03-13
This movie was a worthy sequel to the original installment. They were clever, and didn't use different actors for the same charactesr, which almost always is a disaster (the exception, imo, would be Scarlet, the sequel to Gone With The Wind). Instead, they focused on Katherine's cousein, Cassidy, who's very worthy of being a successor, and her malevolent friend, Jason. The movie is charming, and has its own, different, plot. The ending is particularly good, because of the double-twist. The really interesting thing is that you're actually rooting for Cassidy and Jason to get together, and they do in a way.
The background music in this movie is normally good, and fits with the mood. However, it doesn't have something as awesome as Verge's Bitter Sweet Symphony.
If you liked this movie, I'd recommend reading Choderos de Laclos' book: it's a classic. I'd also recommend Marquis de Sade's _Juliette_.
Surprising. . ........2004-12-20
I bought this only because i loved the first one, hoping it wasn't as terrible as the second. After i watched it i was so impressed. First of all i loved that it really didn't have anything to do with the first, aside from Cassidy being Katherine's cousin, and sharing the same last name (there is only one reference to Katherine and Sebastian in the beginning). It is much better than having different actors playing old characters, which drags a movie down alot. I thought the story was great, with good twists. The whole cast is very attractive, which can't hurt either. The "bad" characters are all pretty likeable, aside from one, and all is well in the end. The best thing about this movie is the character Cassidy. I sarted out hating her, and ended up really liking her for her realness, and honesty she does not try to hide that she is a b*tch. This actress does a particularly good job, pulling off both loveable, and complete brat at the same time. I would definetly reccomend this movie.
Soooooo bad !!!!!.......2004-10-03
Yesterday, i was in a DVD store when i ran into this. As i had enjoyed the first movie quite a lot (and despite the second one which was awful) i decided to buy Cruel Intentions 3. Back home, i sat on my coach and started to watch... After 5 minutes, i was already wondering why on earth i had spent money on such rubbish.
This movie has nothing in common with the first one or the second one. It's the story of Katherine Merteuil's cousin, Cassidy (which doesn't have the class of Katherine and dresses more like a hooker), and of a friend of hers, Jason (played by Kerr Smith, seen in Dawson's Creek). Bye bye the luxurious mansions and appartments in New York and the picnics in Central Park... The story is here set in California, under the palm trees. The characters are sticky, insipid and unclassy. The movie goes in every direction. There are no surprises at all, everything is clear from the beginning.
It's the very first time i'm so dissapointed by a DVD i buy (and i have quite a lot...).
Do NOT buy this ! It's worth nothing !!!!!
