Somewhere in the world, there are probably people who don't understand why Mike Myers's character, Wayne Campbell, is funny--which is too bad. Granted, the laughs are often cheap and silly, but there's no one who can embody a comic character and riff within that character the way Myers does. Wayne and his pal Garth (Dana Carvey) were fixtures on Saturday Night Live before the unexpected success of Wayne's World, which is about what happened when they tried to take their local cable-access show citywide. This time, they want to stage Waynestock, a mammoth rock festival in their little Chicago suburb, even as Wayne copes with girlfriend Tia Carrere's interest in record-company exec Christopher Walken. For extra fun, Garth gets involved with the babelicious Kim Basinger. Yes, the humor is scattershot and the plot is lame--but you'll find yourself laughing nonetheless. --Marshall Fine

5 out of 5 stars An essential package........2007-02-13

The first Wayne's World provides all the necessary background, but Number 2 is actually better because it has a longer list of interesting cameo appearances, including starkly realistic versions of Jim Morrison and Sammy Davis, Jr., spoofing the Oliver Stone film "JFK", in the desert.

A funny movie set with lots of laughs based upon character dramatisation! Action and advernture scenes make the movies hyperactive which enhances the undertone of ironic humour. A great watch for those who enoyed or missed the 1990s!

5 out of 5 stars Both Wayne's World movies for the price of one? GAME ON!.......2006-09-26

Well, here it is, kiddies, the Wayne's World epic. The story of Chicago-area rock-loving slackers, the charismatic Wayne Campbell and the geeky Garth Algar, that went from SNL sketch to '90s pop culture staple.

Wayne's World has become a classic in the fourteen years since its release (okay, now I feel old). Who can listen to Bohemian Rhapsody and not think of the opening scene? Who can play street hockey and not say "GAME ON!" when the street is clear? Exactly. The movie also introduced many '90s slang words. Not! Scha-WING! That's what she said! Asphinctersayswhat? She/It will be mine. Oh yes. She/it will be mine. Party on! The movie never takes itself seriously, and is quotable from start to finish (SEEN SAH BEEN DO WAH!!!). This is the Caddyshack of the '90s.

Oh, yeah, and the sequel is very good as well. Christopher Walken shines as the sleazy record producer. "You want me to say what. Like, I don't get it." Not quite as good as the first, but still sweet, right down to the Graduate parody.

Bottom line: both movies are classics. They never take themselves seriously, they're funny as hell, you can quote them from start to finish, and they're both fun rides. For this price, there is no reason not to buy this set. None, whatsoever. Do you hear me? BUY IT. NOW. PARTY ON!

    4 out of 5 stars A MUST SEE...OH YES! A MUST SEE.......2007-03-28

Comedy writers agree you don't write a joke on a joke. Wayne's World 2
is an exception. The movie works because Wayne (Mike Myers)( and Garth
(Dana Carvey) are among the very few comic actors who get laughs every time the camera points there way. A more likeable comic duo you'll rarely see. They are unpretentious and honestly likeable--like bad little
kids who broke your window but turned it into a joke. So how can you get mad?
Ok, you can say the movie's dumb. It is pointless. It goes for cheap laughs. True.
But when did you ever get a full
belly laugh from stoic Charlton Heston?
    I rest my case.

4 out of 5 stars Not as good as the first but still manages to deliver several great laughs........2006-10-04

Altough not as good as the first on Waynes world 2 still manages to give you some of the same laughs you got from the first one. The main problem though is that its just not as original as the first one was. But don't let that fool you its still a good movie thats worth owning. I bought both of the movies in the complete epic boxed set and I have to say there some of my favorite comedy movies. Its just great to see Wayne and Garth again. I recommend buying both Waynes World 1 and 2.

2 out of 5 stars Yawn.....are we having fun yet?.......2006-09-03

I love Wayne's World. I love Wayne's World 2 more. NOT!!!!! This sequel is nowhere near as much fun as the original. "Fun" hardly makes an appearence in this flick. The jokes are weak; basically they just show us that they ran out of the good ones. It may be the change in directors, I don't know. All I know is this movie is not worth watching. It starts out like you would want a sequel to, and it stays that way.....for about 5 minutes. I turned it off about half way through. Thank God I only rented this one.

5 out of 5 stars "I had to beat them to death with their own shoes".......2006-04-25

This is more great comedy from the minds of the cast members of Saturday Night Live. Dana Carvey and Mike Myers are among my favorites, so Wayne's World has always been a favorite of mine.

In their ode to die-hard 80s hair band fans, Wayne and his faithful sidekick, Garth, set out on another adventure. This time around, Wayne begins to question his mortal purpose. He is soon visited in a dream by a naked indian man who leads him through the desert sands to Jim Morrison. Morrison tells him that the purpose of his life is to put on a concert.

Of course, there are obstacles... Namely, Bobby (played by Christopher Walken), the smooth-talking and suave record producer in charge of managing Cassandra's (Wayne's girlfriend) budding music career.

Garth has issues of his own, though. He has just "gotten his first pubes", so he is eager to become familiarized with the ways of the woman. A snake of a woman, played by Kim Basinger attempts to take advantage of his innocence and loyal nature. The scenes Dana Carvey shares with Basinger are hilarious.

This is just a funny and ridiculous movie. With a good cast of actors, the story leads from one funny scene to the next. Carvey and Myers are great together...

Highly recommended for fans of SNL comedy.

4 out of 5 stars Great follow up to a great movie..........2006-01-18

Wayne's World 2, starring Mike Myers as Wayne and Dana Carvey as Garth is the short awaited sequal to the smash hit of 1992.

Wayne and Garth have moved out of the parents basement and now have their own place across town, still doing their low budget local access TV show and still worshipping every rock musician out there. Wayne and his girlfriend Cassandra, from the first movie are still an item only now she has a manager trying to help her get her career started.

This time Wayne has been sent a message from the spirt of Jim Morrison, of the Doors who tells Wayne he must put on a concert in Aurora and find the meaning of his life. Wayne takes the message very seriously and even flies to London, England to find Del Preston who used to be friends with Jim way back when. Now our duo must deal with putting on their TV show, raising enough money for a permit to hold the show Wayne titles "Waynstock" and deal with Cassandra being taken away from him by her manager. Not to mention Wayne has to prove himself worthy with Cassandra's father and Garth has a close encounter with a beautiful woman, Honey Hornee' (Kim Bassinger) who takes an instant liking to him but may be up to more then just a one night stand.

Overall the movie is on par with the first one. All the funny one liners and sight gags and situations fly by us with the same familiarity that the first gave us. We jump right back into the universe we left a year ago and it's like we never left it. A classic mock Kung Fu fight between Wayne and Cassandra's father with dubbed English while they talk is a priceless moment. As well as Wayne, Garth and two friends dressed up in outfits that the Village People music group wore spying on Cassandra and her manager only to be spotted by them and having to perform as said group in a Male only bar.

The only thing holding this movie back is that it seems too familiar, like we did this all before. There is enough original in this to make you forget the first but too much was taken from the first to make it more like a differnet version of the same. It still holds it own though quite well. Many more stars this time around play bit parts like for instance Drew Barrymore, Jay Leno, Heather Locklear, Metalica and Rip Taylor having parts that are just randomly thrusted upon us. Some play themselves while others playing differnet parts. Of course we can't forget the late and great Chris Farley who I must admit seemed a bit out of place in the part they gave him, but always cool to see him any time.

While some of the jokes were recycled from the first movie, Ie) the alternate ending and the new guy stealing Wayne's girlfriend from him while Wayne gets jealous all the while.. there are some great new gags. I loved the moment towards the end when Wayne stops at a gas station for directions and some bad old actor is giving Wayne some sad story about the street he is looking for only for Wayne to say he wants a better actor for this part and they suddenly change the actor before our eyes to someone better. Some new jokes didn't work like Wayne and Garth being lifted on their backs at the concert they are at and after they are placed down a lot of weird items are being sent in the same mannor to the security guards. That was probably one of those better on paper then it actually turned out to be moments that should have been left on the drawing board. It is also a bit dated, jokes that were funny in 1993 may seem a little silly now. For instance the Jurrasic Park moment but that's to be expected in these type of comedies. Usually popular pop culture of the time will be spoofed and if anything it brings back fun memories of yesteryear.

Overall if you enjoyed the first film, there is no reason not to get this one. It has all the same actors we loved, even a cameo from Ed O'Neil reprising his Glen role from the first. It may not have the same originality and charm the first did, but it is a welcome addition to any fan of a good comedy, follow up to a good film or something that the whole family can get a good laugh to.

The DVD has commentary from the director and about 20 minutes in little tidbits from the cast about moments in the film. More then worth it, especialy at the more then affordable price.

Check out the adventures of Wayne and Garth one last time as they put on the greatest concert in Aurora, IL history. You won't be sorry you did.

    Jurassic Park
Steven Spielberg's 1993 mega-hit rivals Jaws as the most intense and frightening film he'd ever made prior to Schindler's List, but it was also among his weakest stories. Based on Michael Crichton's novel about an island amusement park populated by cloned dinosaurs, the film works best as a thrill ride with none of the interesting human dynamics of Spielberg's Jaws. That lapse proves unfortunate, but there's no shortage of raw terror as a rampaging T. rex and nasty raptors try to make fast food out of the cast. The effects are still astonishing (despite the fact that the computer-generated technology has since been improved upon) and at times primeval, such as the sight of a herd of whatever-they-are scampering through a valley. --Tom Keogh

    The Lost World: Jurassic Park
After the global phenomenon that was Jurassic Park, it was a given that novelist Michael Crichton would conjure up a sequel and that Steven Spielberg would then commit it to film. Considering the potential profit involved, it was practically a commercial mandate. Perhaps it was inevitable that both efforts were contrived, and well below the talents of Crichton (well, maybe) and certainly Spielberg, who just didn't have the heart for this recycling after the artistic triumph of Schindler's List. What we're left with, for better and worse, is a redundant blockbuster that still benefits from Spielberg's mastery of high-intensity action sequences and the further development of amazing computer-generated special effects. What's missing is the awe and wonder that made Jurassic Park a technical marvel and a dazzling product of scientific imagination. The story's a no-brainer: after the deadly fiasco of the original dinosaur theme park, we're taken (along with returning star Jeff Goldblum) to a second island where genetically engineered dinosaurs still thrive under the watchful eye of Goldblum's biologist girlfriend (Julianne Moore). But a devious capitalist (Arliss Howard) is determined to export dinosaurs to a new park in San Diego, financing a hunt-and-capture expedition that results in another series of fatal disasters. In Spielberg's hands this movie's more exciting than it has a right to be, given the creative paucity of Crichton's novel and David Koepp's adapted screenplay. The special effects are state-of-the-art, and the T. rex's rampage through the streets of San Diego is nothing short of spectacular; but apparently an improvement upon the shortcomings of Jurassic Park was too much to hope for. --Jeff Shannon

I got this, I already had "Jurassic Park" on VHS, but I wanted it on DVD. And I'd never seen "Lost World" before. I actually liked it, not as much as "Jurassic Park" but it was still good, oh, and one more thing, the "Jurassic Park III" trailer SUCKS! In part one, Doctors Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler are invited by John Hammond to spend a weekend at Jurassic Park. On the way they meet Dr. Ian Malcolm, and as Hammond says, "I bring scientists, you bring a rock star." He says it to Donald Gennaro, head of InGen, the company bringing dinosaurs back to life. Well, a man named Nedry sets everything wrong, and the dinosaurs escape and wreak havoc, 'cause they were behind electrified wire, and Nedry turned it off.

In part two, Hammond asks Malcolm to visit Site B. They visit it and all the animals are loose. They have to get to the communications center in the center of the island, infested by raptors, to get out. And I won't ruin the spectacular ending for you. Adios, amigos!

    5 out of 5 stars Great Movies!.......2004-10-08

TV's Saturday Night Live has been like the evil twin of the legendary alchemist's stone, which supposedly could turn lead into gold. SNL usually does the opposite, taking rich comic premises from short skits and extrapolating them into overblown and unfunny full-length films. ("The Coneheads"? Puh-leeze!) But this film proved to be the exception, thanks to Mike Myers's wonderfully rude lowbrow humor and his full-bodied understanding of who his character is. Wayne Campbell (Myers) and his nerdy pal Garth (Dana Carvey) are teens who live at home and have their own low-rent cable-access show in Aurora, Illinios, in which they celebrate their favorite female movie stars and heavy-metal bands. When a Chicago TV station smells a potential youth-audience ratings hit, the station's weasely executive (Rob Lowe) tries to coopt the show--and steal Wayne's new rock & roll girlfriend (Tia Carrere) at the same time. It's filled with all kinds of knowing spoofs of movie conventions, from Wayne talking to the camera (and forbidding other characters to do so) to hilariously self-conscious product placements and labeling a moment a "Gratuitous Sex Scene." Dumb--and very funny. --Marshall Fine

      4 out of 5 stars Wayne's World.......2006-11-16

"Wayne's World" was Mike Myers and Dana Carvey's first proper movie, and features their characters Wayne and Garth. It's fairly entertaining, and it's the sort of film that can be watched a few times here and there with friends. It's got an interesting atmosphere, this film.

Wayne and Garth have a cable show, hosted from their parent's basement in Aurora, a suburb of Chicago. It catches the eye of a TV executive, who thinks it will tie in perfectly with a prospective sponsor, "Noah's Arcade". Wayne and Garth, who are a bit strapped for cash, jump at the contract, but soon discover that it is full of compromises. Will Wayne and Garth sell out? Will Wayne be able to escape his deluded ex? Will Garth get his dream girl?

The DVD menus are done like the menu of a cable TV network, which scrolls up and down when you select something. Kind of an odd look I thought. Special features include a director's audio commentary and interviews with the cast and crew, which was interesting.

5 out of 5 stars Mike Myers and Dana Carvey at there best .......2006-10-04

I have to say out of all the Mike Myers and Dana Carvey movies I've seen this has got to be the best. Straight from Saturday Night Live Wayne's World delivers laugh after laugh.Join the fun as you watch Wayne and Garth go from public acess cable show to a huge late night show, and encounter the problems that come along with it. I just love this movie. I can't even estimate how many times I've watched since I got it on DVD last year. No matter how many times you watch it, It'll always find a way to bring a smile to your face.

      5 out of 5 stars EXTREME CLOSE-UP! AAAGGGHHH!!!!.......2006-08-29

Man, this movie is pure gold. Mike Myers is, as always, hilarious, and Dana Carvey, who I once thought sucked after seeing The Master of Disguise, earned my respect. This movie is just painfully funny, extremely fun and never crosses the line of what's funny and what's not. Don't even think about renting it; just pick it up at the store. Most places have it for under $10! I can't wait to see Wayne's World 2!

5 out of 5 stars The single greatest comedy film EVER!!!.......2006-08-21

I have seen this easily a hundred times. I am not exaggerating! I know every single line. I could write the script, compare it to the real one, and not notice a difference. The first time I watched this there was non-stop-rolling-on-the-floor-cramped-stomach-aching-cheeks hysterical laughter!!! And there still is!!
There are a million things to laugh at in this movie. Even in mid-conversation the motions, the way they deliver their lines, and much more create non-stop laughs. If you've never seen this movie and are planning to, get ready to rethink what you think is the funniest movie ever. You should definetely watch this!

      5 out of 5 stars It's Like A New Pair Of Underwear........2006-05-27

Meet Wayne and Garth. Wayne (Mike Myers) and Garth (Dana Carvey) are the type of guys you knew in high school that you think about now and wonder where they are today. Two guys who love to party, scope out babes, rock out and generally have a good time. One has virtually no career goals (save for a low-budget cable access show) and the other is still an awkward nerd with limited social skills (and unlimited drumming skills). And yes, they still live with their parents. If this describes you, you might find this movie a bit depressing. As for the rest of the world, it is absolutely hilarious and infinitely entertaining.

Most people know of Wayne and Garth from the early 90's "Saturday Night Live" skit that Myers and Carvey carried on, but the movie truly outshines it. There have been countless SNL spin-off movies, but how many can you name off the top of your head? How many were ever this funny -- scratch that -- half as funny? "Wayne's World" is essentially, the best SNL movie ever. It stands on it's own, but still has the feel that the skit did. Both Myers and Carvey are dead-on with their roles and really slip into the characters. Carvey is especially entertaining as the awkward Garth Algar. If nothing else in this movie makes you laugh, Dana Carvey will have you busting a gut with his little quirks. Whether it's red-rope licorice, severed tongues, auto-shop tools or Bugs Bunny dressed as a girl bunny, everything this guy comes up with is downright absurd and hilarious. While Myers truly carries the movie with confidence, Carvey nearly outshines him at moments. Co-stars Rob Lowe, Tia Carerre (who shows off her vocal abilities), Ed "Al Bundy" O'Neill, Robert "T-1000" Patrick, Lara Flynn-Boyle and the late-Chris Farley, are also spot on, but rather insignificant when you consider the two strong leads.

What else can I say good about this movie? Well, it boasts a broad soundtrack with plenty of class acts such as Eric Clapton, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jimi Hendrix, and of course, Queen, whose "Bohemian Rhapsody" is forever changed by this movie. Hell, there's even a role for Alice Copper in there too. If you're looking for a movie full of back-to-back jokes, this is the movie for you. If you don't like one joke, just wait a minute -- there'll be another one following it. If you love movies that you can quote for the rest of you're life, SCHA-WING! This is it. I can't say anything bad about this movie. I saw it at the ripe age of eight, and now, 14 years now, and I'm still laughing and finding new jokes. I could go as far as to say this is the funniest movie I have ever seen. Truly a classic.
