When Andy Warhol made his prophetic comment about fame, he could not possibly have anticipated the lengths some would go to get their 15 minutes. Consider Johnny Knoxville and his posse of merry pranksters. These are America's funniest home videos, a generous and representative sampling of segments from the notorious MTV series Jackass, which capture men behaving very badly, and very stupidly. Knoxville and company are mostly content to do injury to themselves and each other (their poor and battered groins alone must be eligible for combat pay). Other segments have a demented Candid Camera quality. In one, Chris Pontius dons a werewolf suit and runs amok through London. In another, two hockey players continue their "fight" inside a store. Throwaway bits, such as the popping of a blackhead, cleanse the palate between stunts. As one observer notes: "You'd have to be an idiot to try this." Watching this, however, is another matter. And by the way, there is no volume 1; go figure. --Donald Liebenson
Description
Due to some random haggard circumstances, Volume 1 of the Jackass TV series isn't coming out anytime soon. But in the meantime here's Volume 2. Volume two of the Jackass series contains a random, haggard selection of segments and bits that aired on our crappy little television show. Remarkable moments in this half-ass collection include Chris Pontius masquerading as an American werewolf and creating panic in the streets of London, Johnny Knoxville sticking his arm right up a cow's butt, Bam Margera and Brandon Dicamillo taking the hockey gloves off and brawling in the middle of a café, Ehren McGhehey falling flat on his pink face while skateboarding blindfolded, and a bunch of other absurd stunts, pranks and queer misbehavior from our bumbling cat and crew of idiots.

Never before has arrested development looked so much fun as the cast of Jackass make it. From stapling Jackass on their rear-end to mounting magazine stands in gorilla costumes, Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, and the rest of the gang show us what it takes be a Jackass!

2 out of 5 stars ... and that's why it's NOT called, "The Complete Box Set".......2007-05-27

I was watching this in its entirety recently and I got pretty annoyed when I discovered that the milk drinking challenge was nowhere to be found on any of the discs. You get a flash of it in a montage at the start of one of the discs but that's it. In fact, as you pore through the set, you slowly start to realize that there are a couple of skits that are missing besides that one.

I have no idea why these skits are missing and in all honesty, it's a disappointment when you discover that what you're holding in your hands isn't the definitive Jackass collection that it should've been. Maybe it was legal issues? It'd have to be. I couldn't tell you exactly how many skits are missing but the information should be available somewhere. It's definitely more than a couple.

While there's a lot of crazy antics to sit through (and even with the missing skits, it's still a lot of stuff) including extra documentaries and stuff, I wouldn't really consider this set to be that well put together. I agree with someone else's opinion that instead of just lumping everything together, they should have kept the episodes intact. I don't mind that they still censor out the profanity but watching skit after skit after skit in no particular context gets boring. The set also comes with a decent little photo book with disc details plus behind the scenes info.

To make a long story short, had this have been a true completist's set, I'd have recommended it easily. The fact that it's not, coupled with the fact that it's missing my favorite skit from any of the episodes make this a box set that I can't recommend in good conscience. Especially to a die-hard Jackass fan.

3 out of 5 stars dissapointed.......2007-04-06

I love every moment of this dvd but when I found out it was not all of the episodes(as I thought would be) it isn't , its a best of and with all this footage they might as well have put all the episodes. I guess they didn't so that the cast would agree to do the commentary. If they ever come out with all the episodes i don't know if I'll buy it or not but I'll be piss that they did this.

4 out of 5 stars if it was complete it would be better.......2007-03-27

i like the box set,its most off their antics but some is missing, like the first show where knoxville tries to jump the river and breaks his ankle or foot,if you have watched the show from the start you will know some is missing but its a great buy for all the stunts and pain

1 out of 5 stars Unhappy with your response to return of merchandise........2007-02-20

My son in law returned this to you and they have had a terrible time getting any significant response, other than an e-mail that you
received it. We don't know if the return was credited to buyer, or if the ball has been dropped. Not happy here.

4 out of 5 stars Everything it promises.......2007-01-29

This box set delivers everything it promises: the complete Jackass. There are lots of extra and deleted scenes, and the 4th disc has a bunch of extra features like interviews and public appearences. I especially liked the interviews about where they are now and what they're doing.

4 out of 5 stars It'd be better if they could use the f word........2003-07-11

Jackass is what it is. Funny stupid stunts where someone always gets hurt. MTV took Bam Margera's CKYs and Big Brother's skate videos and turned it into mainstream chaos. It is great exposure for Bam, Johnny Knoxville, Steve-o, Random Hero and the rest of the gang. The stunts and pranks are all real. And all are really funny. This is a good DVD. The only downer is the censorship. It is the exact same as the TV show. Bleeped curse words and fuzzed out nudity.
All the crazy stuff they don'y show on TV, they don't show on here either. It is still worth it. If you want movies with real crazy funny stuff that will leave you shocked and in stiches check out CKY 1-4. And Big Brother's Poop.

5 out of 5 stars Laugh out loud!.......2003-03-30

If you liked the movie, you will like this (albeit tuned down) version i asume is clips from the TV show. No cursing or nudity like the movie, but so what. It's funny anyhow. Many awesome scenes. Be warned however, volume 3 stank. Stick to volume 2

5 out of 5 stars Cringe-Tacular!.......2002-12-20

Finally, Jackass has come out on DVD. Although there is no Vol. 1 right now, (I don't even know if there really is a Vol. 1 or if it's just supposed to be a joke), Vol. 2 is still a great collection of some of the most outrageous, disgusting, shocking, and disturbing moments from the very popular TV show. Join Johnny Knoxville and his gang of misfits as they do some of the most idiotic things ever to be caught on tape. (But it's hilarious!)

With this collection you'll see stuff like this: The cup test, plunger wake up, the worm trick, bucket cars, red wagon, bikini wax, ice blocking, lawn trap, human bulls-eye, punt return, and many, many more wackiness and chaos.

The DVD has very few special features, but that's okay. All I wanted was the show itself. The features included are a trivia game, photo gallery, and cast bios. Yes, the swears and bleeped out and nude people are blurred out. (Funny how they will censor the swearing from the guys themselves when the music playing in the background is uncensored. Interesting.)

You'll laugh, you'll cringe.... you'll want to hurl after seeing some of the things you will witness. (One I couldn't even watch. I had to skip it. Try to figure out which one it is when you watch it.) "Jackass: Volume 2" is Jackass at its best.

Kids, don't try this at home. I'm sick of all the parents and news complaining about the show because some stupid and brainless moron decided to reenact some of the stunts. Watch it, don't live it. Okay? Okay.

4 out of 5 stars Don't Expect Vol. 1 Anytime Soon...but here's 2 & 3..........2002-12-16

Jackass should win a Grammy for best TV show of the year. After seeing the movie twice, I've started watching the show (which I didn't before), and because I missed the first few seasons, this is a good way to catch some glinces of them. Not as good as the movie, but entertaining at least. GET IT!!!

And by the way, there is no volume 1; go figure.

Volume 3 is everything you want in a Jackass compilation, and more: more arrested adolescent behavior, more outrageous stunts and pranks, more "poo." Pogo-stick skateboarding, ice-block downhill skating, and backwards bull-riding are representative of the way-extreme stunts that have made Johnny Knoxville and his posse folk heroes to Generation BMX. But Jackass turns it up to 11 with its fearless forays into public performance art. In one of the more benign segments, Rick Kosick shaves his head and dons a frightful toupee, which he proceeds to drop in front of people. Funnier are the bits with Knoxville convincingly costumed as a 90-year-old man. In a more grisly segment, Knoxville and a partner subject an unsuspecting carpet cleaner to a bloody scene of escalating mayhem. And it wouldn't be Jackass without frontal assaults on the groin. Guaranteed to get the party started, this volume, at 78 minutes, has tremendous shock value. --Donald Liebenson

5 out of 5 stars AWESOME.......2007-02-22

this is a goody video buy it today the stick it in ur dvd player your wildest dreams will come true!!!!!

1 out of 5 stars Just tape it off the TV, for FREE.......2005-07-24

1)The curse words are censored, and so is the nudity (just like on TV).

2) No special features whatsoever.

3) This is not seasons 2 and 3 of the show. It is a compilation of so-called "greatest Jackass moments".

4) Some of the funniest skits/stunts are cut out, and in some of the skits the original songs have been changed to something else.

5) Just to avoid any confusion, there is no "Volume 1".

I guess if you have no other way to watch Jackass, this would have to do. But for a true fan of the show, this is so disappointing. Even the Jackass guys have said in interviews that this DVD set sucks, and that MTV sucks.

The only thing you gain from buying this over just taping it off TV is no commerical interruptions. Other than that it is just like watching the show on TV, only with many of your favorite stunts cut out, and some of your favorite songs replaced! I'm not advocating piracy or anything, but send MTV a message that we are not morons who will stand for being blatantly ripped off! Don't spend your hard-earned money on this POS

5 out of 5 stars hillarious.......2005-04-27
