Matthew Broderick, in one of his first grownup roles after years of playing teen heroes, stars as an air force foul-up, a pilot who, as punishment, is assigned to care for the chimps in military medical experiments. He's indignant at first but gradually warms up to his simian charges (who wouldn't?). The more time he spends with them, the more he realizes just what thinking, feeling creatures they are--which sticks him squarely in the center of a moral dilemma when he realizes that the outcome of the experiments involves putting all the chimps to sleep. Director Jonathan Kaplan, no stranger to ethically complex melodrama, gives what might otherwise be a predictable tale a jolt of both adrenaline and real emotion--and it doesn't hurt that most of his actors are lovable scene-stealers. --Marshall Fine

It is based on Sonic Acventure 2. It does not go into who the real Shadow is (to find this play the game and pay close atention to the cut sceens). Very fast paced. Great entertainment
The Truth.......2007-02-17
I can't beleve you people think that on the English version Maria was not killed but arested. That is not true! When that retired policeman was telling Scarlet and Mr. Stuart his story about what happened at the ark fifty years ago, it showed him pointing a gun at Maria and when she pulled the lever, yes they did skip the scean when she was shot but after that, the guy was crying and regreting he ever shot her, he wouldn't be doing that if nothing happened to her, besides he was pointing a gun at her and telling her to get away from the lever and she disobays him what else would you have expected to happen. When he said they took her away, he ment her dead body because they were camanded to take the casualty's bodies back to Earth to have them identified and that is when Professor Garald found her name in the list of those who died when the ark was shut down. If Maria was still alive and was arested as you guys say she was, even 4kids would know that Shadow wouldn't waist his time trying to destroy the earth, he would go strait to the prison that was holding her and break her out.
This is movie is awesome!.......2007-02-07
Man, these shows are so great together, I personally think Project Shadow should've been a full-length movie and released into theaters. Obviouslly, there's some parts that need to be edited, but there's many scenes in it, especially the end, that make it look like it should've been a full-length film and released into theaters.
Sonic Adventure 2 Adaptation!.......2007-01-29
To start things off, let me just say that Sonic Adventure 2, or SA2, is my absolute very favorite video game. EVER. Better even than Pokemon! (For me, that is definitely saying something)
While there were still some differences between SA2 and the Sonic X adapt, I have to say I loved it. Still the same blue blur that rocked the world with a Sonic Boom 15 years ago. Amazing. 15 years, and he's still making new game-totally awesome. Despite what those so called 'profession' reviewers say, I loved the new Sonic '06 game, Sonic Heroes was immensely fun, (Who couldn't love it? Totally awesome Neo Metal Sonic claiming that he was 'the one true Sonic.') and Shadow the Hedgehog had an awesome story.
But, now for the review. The Project Shadow SA2 adapt is probably one o the deepest Sonic stories ever. Shadow the hedgehog is a Mewtwo-like character, planning to gain revenge for the death of his best and only friend-a girl named Maria.
The military, GUN, mercilessly murdered her, and now, Shadow aims for revenge! Although, in the dub (English translated version is what 'dub' means) Maria is apparently arrested. Well, thats what some people have said anyway. IMO (In My Opinion) the dub implied it well enough that Maria was shot, and not arrested (They never explicitly said she was killed, but they never say she was arrested, just taken away. Of course, that could be a metaphor, and they showed a scene with the GUN soldier with a, duh, shotgun, and Maria...eh, I won't spoil it) So, yes, Maria died.
Its very emotional, (Though not as much as the game) and very, very good. Many scenes are very good, one in particular where Knuckles hijacks a space shuttle becuase the Master Emerald flew out the window. Strange, I know xD.
There is also a very cool battle between Sonic and Shadow as well. Very fun, so don't miss it!
So, a brief and spoiler free summary of the DVD? Sure! Why not? Sonic has been framed by a mysterious black hedgehog, and is on the run form the military. Meanwhile, this same hedgehog teams up with Dr. Omele-I mean, Eggman, and Rouge the Bat. When a dangerous space station known as the ARK prepares to fire a cannon into earth, can Sonic stop it? And what does a professor named Gerald and a girl named Maria have to do with this? Why, watch and you'll see~!
Despite the editing that the dubbers did to it, its still very, very good, but the game itsdelf is the very best. If you want the absolute ultimate SA2 experience, then just go buy the game itself.
All in all, this is a very deep story and any respectable Sonic fan should watch this DVD. And as a side note, fans of SATAM never fear, for a SATAM DVD has been released! To anyone who's missed the 'way past cool' Sonic the Hedgehog Freedom Fighter, buy that DVD as well as this one.
Oh yeah, the moon gets blown up.
Until next time! Sayonara, readers!

More Fantasy Than Comedy.......2006-07-21
PROJECT X is really a movie fairy tale for adults. It is billed as a comedy, and there are truly some humorous moments, but the basic thrust of the film is to transport the audience to a world of a deep and dark forest populated and run by evil witches and warlocks. The dark forest is a United States Air Force research test center and the resident warlock is a heartless and slimy researcher whose only stated purpose is to expose chimpanzees to lethal doses of radiation. Enter Matthew Broderick as a young and innocent air force recruit whose job is to bond with these chimps and basically and unwittingly get them ready for their lethal exposures. Broderick is young and boyishly goodlooking, but he is not the star. The one who steals more than a few scenes is Virgil the chimp. Virgil learns to trust Broderick, who in turn learns that the horrors of the dark forest are masked by the antiseptic environment that kills chimps in the name of science.
Director Jonathan Kaplan clearly tries hard to infuse PROJECT X with more than just the comic interaction between a chimp that is as at least as bright as his handler. Kaplan sets up the relation between Broderick and Virgil as a dramatic focus that zeros in on the rationale that the air force doctor slimily insists is the case: namely that if and when American pilots are exposed to killing radiation during a bombing run--perhaps to Russia--then how well will they be able to continue their mission? To Kaplan's credit, he has Broderick point out that unlike their simian counterparts in a flight simulator, a human pilot will certainly know if he has been exposed, and it is this knowledge that renders the entire PROJECT X experiment rationale as unneeded at best and evil at worst. Broderick is forced to juggle duty versus conscience, never an easy task at any time. By the film's midpoint Helen Hunt enters as a simian sign language teacher who, years earlier, had taught Virgil to communicate in contextually meaningful ways, thus intensifying Broderick's dilemma about the potential destruction of a sentient being that is not only cute but smart. It is this smartness that director Kaplan uses to ease the film into the slapstick world of farce. Not only is Virgil bright enough to help Broderick defuse a melt down in a lab experiment gone haywire, but he is also savvy enough to take an airplane up and pilot it in an escape.
PROJECT X is that odd but pleasant comedy/fantasy that brings the audience into the dark world of science to force the hero and the audience to wonder where duty ends and conscience begins. PROJECT X implies that a useful starting point is to define just what it means to be human--or in Virgil's case--near human.
The epitome of irony.......2006-05-28
This rating does not reflect the story in the film; it reflects the story behind the film. It is a disheartening revelation that a movie which explores the kinship between humans and chimps, and which condemns the inhumane treatment of our evolutionary cousins, is itself a glaring example of the regular mistreatment of animals in the entertainment industry. The chimp actors in this film were regularly beaten and abused (despite what the American Humane Association might say). Chances are any chimp actor in any movie has received similar treatment because, unlike domestic animals which have become inherently submissive, chimps are fiercely independent and resilient, much like their human counterparts. If you believe in the message of this movie, you should be adamantly against it for the horrible irony it embodies.
Good Film - Great Memories.......2005-03-29
One day my mother came home with a film she showed her kids in school that day. I was either 4 or 5 years old. The film was "Project X", a heart warming, no so far fetched idea, melodrama starring Matthew Broderick and Helen Hunt not to mention the extremely cute and hairy chimps.
The film is about an air force pilot who is transfred to an "Experimental Pilot Preformance Project" conducted by a strict doctor. From there he meets Virgil, an extremely smart and loving chimp who ended up there by mistake. He falls for the chimp like anyone else would and tries to save him with the help of the researcher who taught and cared for Virgil in the begining.
I found this film by mistake and quickly bought it. It's only special feature is the theatrical trailer and TV Spots but the film itself is well worth the ten bucks. The film has some very emotional scenes and some harrowing. Some of the scenes were honestly hard to watch. Being an animal lover won't one can only imagine how bad these kinds of experiments got. However, like all family films, this one has a great and happy ending.
This is simply a great movie that kids will love as well as adults. I'm 21 and I just love it!
A bit slow, but OK for fans of the actors.......2005-02-13
We first meet the chimpanzee Virgil when he's a carefree youngster living in the wilds of Africa. Before you can say "monkey's uncle" Virgil (played by Willie) is captured and put into an American university animal behavior program, where he meets a kind and gentle psychologist named Teri (Helen Hunt), who gives him a toy alligator and teaches him sign language. Sadly, the program's funding is cut, and poor Virgil goes to the air force lab to take part in a project so shady it's known only as "X". The sorry, caged critter soon meets disgraced Air Force pilot, Jimmy (Matthew Broderick), who's been demoted and forced into the drudgery of teaching chimps to work flight simulators. But the flight simulators are not as innocent as they appear.
The movie bills itself as a thriller, but it is actually pretty slow and there's no mystery or suspense to it. Still, Hunt and Broderick do a good job.

Product Description
Frequently cited as the most prolific aeronautical test program ever flown, the X-15 pushed the boundaries of altitude and speed as never before. This 3-DVD set presents the most complete collection ever assembled of the X-15 flight program, with rare footage from over 50 (of the 199) specific flights, documentaries, engine testing, suit testing, and more. Over 10 hours of rare material. As always, Spacecraft Films made new, digital transfers of the archival film, and for much of this set the 35mm color film shot of the program yielded stunning footage that looks as if it were shot yesterday. An incredible collection that also includes audio commentary from members of the X-15 project.

X-15 THE EDGE OF SPACE.......2007-05-12
I THOUGHT X-15 THE EDGE OF SPACE WAS A VERY GOOD DVD.
Best X-15 footage around.......2007-01-06
Another great offering from the folks at Spacecraft films. This one suffers a little because it gets a bit redundant on disc two. Basically it's a bunch of footage of launches and landings (there was little else to film since nothing could keep up with the X-15). Spacecraft films should consider doing a DVD set on the lifting bodies. There were 6 different configurations and great footage that hasn't been seen (plus one of the most famous crashes ever). Plus, there is more complete footage of the flights. It would be a little more interesting with the different vehicles and could avoid the redundency of seeing the same configuration (the X-15) over and over. In any event, Spacecraft films is to be commended for their efforts. This is another fine offering and hopefully this company will not only continue with the excellent spacecraft series but will also continue to release these experimental research flight sets also.

Don't waste your time, UNHHHHHHH!.......2002-05-23
If you like poor acting, glorification of "ghettoes and gangsters and guns" (oh, my), outrageously dated dialougue, crude sexuality, and needless violence (as well as hard core gagster-rap), then throw your money away on this mess. ... As Master P (Percy Miller) himself would say, UNHHHHHHHH!
Good storyline....Bad Camara Footage.......2002-04-25
This movie is quite tight. this sh** keeps it real for most part but just exagarates about how "bad" Master P was/is. But is basicly acurate. Every seen in this movie is tight its more than good enough to rent this is a "classic" that needs to be owned on your "Hall of Fame" movie collection shelf. The only bad part is it looks like they filmed it with a home video camara with the poor film quality and some bad camara angles. (NEEDS TO BE REMASTERED ON DVD!)
strictly for TRU players.......2001-06-17
This movie is surprisingly good.Master P does a good job of portraying himself in this movie as a young thug.Owes more than a little to Menace 2 society and Boyz n' the hood(note,P gets shot in the shoulder ,just like in Menace 2 society).Silkk the Shocker plays P's younger brother Silkk.C-Murder(who, along with Silkk the Shocker is P's brother in real life)has about 10 minutes in the movie as P's younger brother Q.A realistic(if not sometimes exaggerated )count of life in the Calliope projects.
Stay tuned for music videos after the movie.
Awsome but some boring parts.......2001-04-22
IT is Master P's best getto movie Note: This is NOT a movie for the whole family It was great alough there was some boring parts in it that will make you FF threw it but it was great.
big sid bling in 'nawlins not 'bout it.......2000-07-13
big ups to massa p for this golden ghetto fabulous masterpiece, chronicling his rise to fame from the streets (this must not be a true story because they left out the scene where p sells his soul to the devil so that people will buy and actually listen to his horrible, horrible music (and i stress horrible). i liked alot about this movie. i didn't so much like the bad acting, the bad camera shots/angles, the plot (i use the term loosely), the passing script that was probably written on napkins as filming went along, or the glorification of violence and abuse to women. no, i liked the underlying theme of homoeroticism between p and his boyz. you could tell that in all of their b-boy posturing there was a real sense of longing and desire to express their physical attraction for one another in the hot, sweaty, dirty south. if they would have centered the movie around that i would have definitely been more 'bout it.
