Woody Allen as a worker ant with an inferiority complex? Sylvester Stallone as an affable soldier ant who discovers that digging tunnels is cool? The animation playground we all knew so well is turning into a theme park full of in-jokes for grownups. Antz explores age-old topics (one person--err, insect--can make a difference, individuality and social responsibility must exist side by side, war is hell) with comic asides and Woody Allen's funniest quips this side of PG (adults will chuckle at the socialist slogans bandied about as he campaigns for workers' rights). Sharon Stone voices the rebellious princess with a fun-loving streak that doesn't quite overcome her royal bearing and court training, but she can learn. Gene Hackman is all teeth (ants have teeth?) and menacing grins as the Army general plotting insect-icide. This bug's-eye view of life on Earth gives Allen's neurotic nonconformist an epic adventure of microscopic proportions: a devastating war with a termite colony, an odyssey to the fabled land of plenty (a picnic ground), and a race to save his fellow workers from certain death. Other voices include Anne Bancroft as the Queen, Christopher Walken, Jennifer Lopez, Danny Glover, Dan Aykroyd, Jane Curtin, and John Mahoney. The computer animation isn't exactly realistic but feels as solid and contoured as puppet animation with the smoothness and slickness of traditional cel cartoons, and the character designs and animation offer a marvelous range of expressions. If this was supposed to be a kids movie there was too much profanity. It has an allstar cast, Stallone, Woody Allen, Sharon Stone, etc... The story is a bit slow. You keep waiting for something interesting to happen. The story concept "finding Nirvana" away from the colony was not one for an exciting story. The "Evil Villan's" plot makes no sense as to why he would want to do what he wanted to do. If you want to hear the voice of the stars in animated Ants then this is movie. Otherwise its not worth the money. I have no desire to see it again.

As an animated movie goes, this is one of the best. It has excellent voice over great grafics. This movie includes Humor, Action and a good story line.

I like the idea of being one person (or ant in this case) and positively impacting a whole community (or ant colony). It is inspiring and hopeful but there is swearing in this. I'm not sure how it is kid friendly when Weaver says "quit your bitching" to Z. Of all the words they could have replaced it with like stop complaining/ stop being irritable, difficult, unreasonable.

Its about ants what else can I say. Honestly I bought it for the little one but it does have some adult content. No nuditiy or anything like that even though I guess ants do sport around in their birthday suites. You can let the kids watch it. They probably won't pick up on the content anyway. Its a good movie.

    Animated films have come a long way. DreamWorks is doing a fine job in competing with Disney. Antz is not your average kid's movie. Like Finding Nemo there is much there for the adults in the family to have fun with. The art direction is quite different from Disney offering A Bug's Life and the all start cast voicing the film is quite impressive. Overall if you like Pixar & Disney offering you will like Antz (Score: 4.5).

    Chicken Run goes for the old classic clay look and the animation is quite good. While the Story is quite good it has it dull moments in which your kid may wander-off or loose interest. However for those who stick with it the movie is quite good and fun to watch (Score 3.5).

    Woody Allen as a worker ant with an inferiority complex? Sylvester Stallone as an affable soldier ant who discovers that digging tunnels is cool? The animation playground we all knew so well is turning into a theme park full of in-jokes for grownups. Antz explores age-old topics (one person--err, insect--can make a difference, individuality and social responsibility must exist side by side, war is hell) with comic asides and Woody Allen's funniest quips this side of PG (adults will chuckle at the socialist slogans bandied about as he campaigns for workers' rights). Sharon Stone voices the rebellious princess with a fun-loving streak that doesn't quite overcome her royal bearing and court training, but she can learn. Gene Hackman is all teeth (ants have teeth?) and menacing grins as the Army general plotting insect-icide. This bug's-eye view of life on Earth gives Allen's neurotic nonconformist an epic adventure of microscopic proportions: a devastating war with a termite colony, an odyssey to the fabled land of plenty (a picnic ground), and a race to save his fellow workers from certain death. Other voices include Anne Bancroft as the Queen, Christopher Walken, Jennifer Lopez, Danny Glover, Dan Aykroyd, Jane Curtin, and John Mahoney. The computer animation isn't exactly realistic but feels as solid and contoured as puppet animation with the smoothness and slickness of traditional cel cartoons, and the character designs and animation offer a marvelous range of expressions.     If this was supposed to be a kids movie there was too much profanity. It has an allstar cast, Stallone, Woody Allen, Sharon Stone, etc... The story is a bit slow. You keep waiting for something interesting to happen. The story concept "finding Nirvana" away from the colony was not one for an exciting story. The "Evil Villan's" plot makes no sense as to why he would want to do what he wanted to do. If you want to hear the voice of the stars in animated Ants then this is movie. Otherwise its not worth the money. I have no desire to see it again.

    As an animated movie goes, this is one of the best. It has excellent voice over great grafics. This movie includes Humor, Action and a good story line.

    I like the idea of being one person (or ant in this case) and positively impacting a whole community (or ant colony). It is inspiring and hopeful but there is swearing in this. I'm not sure how it is kid friendly when Weaver says "quit your bitching" to Z. Of all the words they could have replaced it with like stop complaining/ stop being irritable, difficult, unreasonable.

    Its about ants what else can I say. Honestly I bought it for the little one but it does have some adult content. No nuditiy or anything like that even though I guess ants do sport around in their birthday suites. You can let the kids watch it. They probably won't pick up on the content anyway. Its a good movie.
