Little did Tom Cruise know that he would become a box-office superstar after he cranked up some Bob Seeger and played air guitar in his underwear. But there's more to this 1983 hit than the arrival of a hot young star. Making a stylish debut, writer-director Paul Brickman crafted a subtle satire of crass materialism wrapped in an irresistible plot about a crafty high schooler named Joel (Cruise) who goes into risky business with the beguiling prostitute Lana (Rebecca De Mornay) while his parents are out of town. Joel turns his affluent Chicago-suburb home into a lucrative bordello and forms a steamy personal and professional partnership with Lana, but only as long as the two can avoid the vengeful pimp Guido (Joe Pantoliano) and keep their customers happy. A signature film of the 1980s, Risky Business still holds up thanks to Cruise's effortless charm and the movie's timeless appeal as an adolescent male fantasy. --Jeff Shannon
Description
High school senior is tired of being Mr. All-American and facing such traumatic decisions as which Ivy League college to attend. His life gets turned around when he meets a sexy call girl who transforms his house into a brothel while his parents are away.

too old fashioned.......2007-02-18
not that exciting, nor does it come with some amazing twists. maybe it fits the taste of the early 80's. the girl next door is more fun to watch, and damn, elisha cuthbert is hot.
Subversive.......2006-12-11
A subversive, quintessential 1980s-style coming-of-age story, disguised as an 80s teen sex romp, set in the Chicago suburbs. It recasts the elements of William Faulkner's coming-of-age story, The Reivers--the young man (Joel), the old man's car (the Porsche), the corrupting influence (Curtis Armstrong), and Miss Reba's house (his parents' North Shore home), twisting them into a sort of Reagan-era fable where it's OK, even admirable, to be a pimp for a weekend. The moral: take responsibility for your own mess, get rid of the evidence, and exploit the corruptibility of your Princeton admissions rep.
This is a classic. Not to bad for Cruise work. .......2006-08-22
This is again one of those movies that has been hyped up for years as a classic, often played in edited form on Cable movie channels, and is recognized as the birth of the monster that is know as Cruise. The story of a high school kid from a well off family said "what the heck"...well, different 4 letter word. But, every kids dream was having the house alone. Party time. Good kids would stay at home board and dreaming, bad kids would throw the party. Well, this movie was the changing of that good kid to the risk taking bad kid. Playing on the fantasy life of many young men, Joel is a Senior in high school trying to get to college and "walking the line" at home to not dissapoint his patents. Well, when their away, peer pressure gets the best of him and he make a call out of the personals for a "date"...and the rest is history. From thier his life take a nose dive. Can he save it? Well, the fantasy plays out and walla, he get into princton. Its how he gets their is fun. Probably the best acting from Tom Cruise in his life, Just honestly looking back went down from here. And the rest of the cast was good as well. A dark comedy, but funny at times. Worth a watching.
GOOD OLD TIME ROCK N ROLL.......2006-08-17
THE SCENE ON THE METRO, THAT WAS HOT, BACK THEN, STILL TIMELESS. TOM CRUISE'S BEST. I LOVE TEEN COMEDIES ESPECIALLY ONES FROM THE EIGHTIES. AND THAT CRYSTAL EGG AND THE PORSCHA..HILARIOUS, THIS MOVIE IS SPECIAL TO ME BECAUSE IT WAS ONE OF THE FIRST RATED R MOVIES I WATCHED BACK THEN. AND HOW TRUE IT WAS, TEENAGERS DANCING IN THEIR UNDERWEAR WHEN THERE PARENTS ARE NOT HOME, ONE WHO SAYS THEY HAVEN'T IS LYING.
Adolescent male fantasy, I should say so.......2006-08-05
A much better film than I imagined and was led to believe. Even we mature males fantasize about these things, at least I do. I enjoyed it much to my surprise and so did my wife. (Don't tell her about my fantasies, allright?) Surprisingly good acting by Cruise and the lovely Rebecca de Mornay who I saw only a few days ago in "The Shining". I wonder what she is like now, 23 years later. I'm sure she is still lovely. Light but fun.
