After the worldwide success of A Hard Day's Night, the Beatles and director Richard Lester reunited for a follow-up film, Eight Arms to Hold You. Well, that wasn't the final title; a pleading Lennon-McCartney tune provided the catchier handle: Help! A loose semispoof of the globe-trotting James Bond pictures, Help! has always been considered a somewhat disorganized comedown from its predecessor; but it presents "the famous Beatles" even more clearly as the English cousins of the Marx Brothers. The plot has an Eastern religious cult declaring that the new ring on Ringo's finger is the key element in a human sacrifice; they will stop at nothing to obtain it. Meanwhile, a mad scientist (crazed Victor Spinetti, who also appeared in A Hard Day's Night and Magical Mystery Tour) believes that if he has the ring, he could--dare we say it?--rule the world. The songs, including "Ticket to Ride" and "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away," are filmed with gleeful ingenuity, in locations such as the Bahamas, an Austrian ski resort, and the Salisbury Plain. The relentless nonsense becomes nearly the equivalent of a swinging-'60s Alice in Wonderland: for instance, Paul shrinks to the size of a gum wrapper, John fishes a season ticket out of his soup, George wears a top hat on the ski slopes, the lads sing the "Ode to Joy" to a lion. Oh, and the film is dedicated to Elias Howe, "who in 1846 invented the sewing machine." Brilliant. --Robert Horton

DIVERTIDISIMA!!!.......2007-07-03
THE BEATLES' LEGEND CONTINUES WITH THE FOUR LADS THAT SHOOK THE WORLD........2007-06-12
I will be writing a review on the legendary historic landmark Rock n' Roll movie simply entitled "HELP" starring the FAB FOUR themselves, AND STILL the greatest band music ever produced. I give you THE PRIDE OF ENGLAND and BRITAIN'S MOST FAVORITE SONS OF THEM ALL, T-H-E B-E-A-T-L-E-S! "HELP" was originally released in theaters in 1965 by United Artists and on DVD in 1997 by MPI Home Video. May I also add that this particular DVD release is a great DVD recording and is not a sloppy recording off a VHS tape. As always, if I hear any new additional information concerning this legendary historic landmark film or the artist, I will edit this review immediately so that you the consumer will get the overall best informative and most accurate review possible.
What can I possibly say about THE BEATLES that hasn't already been said? Like the review I recently wrote on the film "A HARD DAYS NIGHT," THE BEATLES will forever go down in Rock n' Roll history and be remembered for composing and recording Rock's ALL-TIME MOST sacred anthems ever. THE BEATLES will also forever be remembered as being THE GREATEST BAND MUSIC EVER PRODUCED. 1965 was a great year for THE BEATLES. THE BEATLES would be awarded as recipients of the Members of The British Empire by the Queen of England. THE BEATLES would began their 1965 World Tour to highly critically acclaim. The climax of the successful 1965 World Tour would be the legendary historic landmark concert at New York's Shea Stadium on 15 August 1965. This legendary concert was the first of its kind ever and would mark the first time that any band ever performed in a stadium. (No disrespect to ELVIS but not even ELVIS did that.) But before the 1965 World Tour would begin, THE BEATLES were on location to film another movie for their loyal fans. Originally called "EIGHT ARMS TO HOLD YOU," the film would be changed to "HELP." Following the release and extreme success of 1964's mega hit Rock n' Roll movie "A HARD DAYS NIGHT," THE BEATLES were so thrilled and delighted that their movie did so well at the box office that it was only natural that the band would film another by popular demand. THE BEATLES, true to their words, did not disappoint their loyal fans either and would deliver "HELP" as another present as a token of their appreciation.
"HELP," in itself alone, is another great BEATLES film that also contains THE BEATLES' magical music that speaks for itself. "HELP" contains, once again, THE BEATLES as their normal witty and funny charming selves which alone, makes this film great to watch. "HELP" also contains groundbreaking live film and video performances of the magnificent theme song "Help," the mild Rocker "The Night Before," the beautifully slow romantic acoustic "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away," George Harrison's masterpiece Rocker "I Need You," the incredible soothing mellow Rocker "Another Girl," the blistering Rocker "Ticket To Ride" and the breathtaking Rocker "You're Gonna Lose That Girl."
I can take all day and tell you about the whole concept and plot of this legendary historic landmark film, but I do not want to spoil it for all of the new BEATLES fans. I would definitely hope that all of you would go out and purchase this film and see it for yourself. Doing this, I feel confident that by letting you be the judge for yourselves that you will fall in love with this film as I have. I hope all of you will purchase this great film, this is one great film that no BEATLES fan should be without.
In closing, all I will say is that THE BEATLES are the greatest band that music ever produced. The accomplishments, contributions and achievements that THE BEATLES have given us speak for itself and will never be forgotten or denied. THE BEATLES are not just another one of Rock Royalty, THE BEATLES DEFINE AND ARE ROCK ROYALTY. THE BEATLES have received the highest ultimate honor possible by being inducted as members of the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame. THE BEATLES will forever live in all of our hearts as those four witty and funny young men from Liverpool, England who call themselves John Paul George and Ringo. The critics were truly right when they said that THE BEATLES were the "FOUR LADS THAT SHOOK THE WORLD!" In my opinion, that is definitely a very appropriate statement to make. And as the saying goes, "AND THE REST IS ROCK N' ROLL HISTORY," need I say more? Thanks for reading my review and I truly hope that you have enjoyed reading it as much as I have truly enjoyed writing it for your reading pleasure. I also deeply hope that all of you will read all of my other reviews in the near future when time permits. THE BEATLES FOREVER! R.I.P. John Lennon (1940-1980) and George Harrison (1943-2001). Long Live Rock n' Roll. Rock out always and take it easy. Forever in Rock, John L.
The Night Before and Another Girl.......2007-04-26
The singing scenes of this movie are worth remembering and each time you see them, these guys glisten. Theres George Harrison singing "I Need You" very well. This is definitely a very unserious movie but much of it a classic to keep. "Another Girl" belongs to Paul McCartney, he sings it way cool and draws the line. Ringo is royal to the beat. John Lennon is naughty and inquisitive. These guys never let me down. They're just a downright great band and fascinating!
An Underrated Classic.......2007-02-16
This spoof of James Bond is errie to watch in this post 9/11 world. The story of the death cult willing to take down an icon of western civilization to fulfill its ritual seems prophetic in retrospect. The scene with Leo McKern as the cult leader talking theology with the Anglican priest as an equal says much about the state of modern western civilization.
ITS THE BEATLES!!!.......2007-02-06
IF YOU ARE A BOOMER AND LOVE THE BEATLES, YOU WILL LOVE THIS. THE MUSIC IS THE BEST PART. THE SECOND IS THAT YOU GET TO LOOK AT THESE WONDERFUL GUYS DOING PRANKS AND ANTICS THAT ARE LIGHT-HEARTED AND IT MAKES YOU FEEL
AS IF YOU COULD GO BACK TO THE 60'S. SIT BACK AND ENJOY.

16 mm silent movie.......2007-07-01
This is a reel to reel 16 mm silent movie filmed during "Help" shootings by a crew member (maybe an opeator or is wife, I dunno). The movie is really short (16 minutes) and shows little Beatles action. It's a die hard collector item (I own the VHS version).
What does this mean?.......2006-02-28
If, as I assume, this means that the film is finally coming to DVD, then 5 stars are little enough. Right now, there's no information, other than "this film is currently unavailable". One can only hope that Help! is coming to DVD, with Let It Be soon to follow.

Product Description
A few copies back in stock! This DVD captures both Beatles concerts at Budokan, Tokyo in the Summer of 1966. Aside from the two concerts you get a host of newsreel footage and the lengthy press conference. The first half of this footage is film-only with Beatles cuts playing over the top. Half way through the section, during the press conference the audio comes in with the Fab Four answering a host of questions to Japanese and U.S. journalists. The setlist is the same for both concerts: June 30th and July 1st, 1966: Rock And Roll Music, She's A Woman, If I Needed Someone, Day Tripper, Baby's In Black, I Feel Fine, Yesterday (Band Version), I Wanna Be Your Man, Nowhere Man, Paperback Writer and I'm Down. Runs 75 minutes.

THIS BEATLES BUDOKAN DVD VERSION IS THE BEST OVERALL PICTURE AND SOUND QUALITY AVAILABLE SO FAR........2007-04-18
I will be writing a review on the legendary historic DVD landmark concert entitled "THE BEATLES CONCERTS AT BUDOKAN" by Rock's all-time greatest band ever. I give you England's most favorite sons and Liverpool's pride and joy, the one and only original FAB FOUR, T-H-E--B-E-A-T-L-E-S. May I also add that this legendary historic DVD concert is also part of another review that I wrote on 13 June 2006 on the CD album entitled "FIVE NIGHTS IN A JUDO ARENA." You might want to check that review out since it contains so much information concerning THE BEATLES legendary historic 30 June 1966 Budokan concert performance. As always, if I hear any new additional information concerning this legendary historic DVD landmark concert, I will edit this review immediately so that you the consumer will get the overall best informative and most accurate review possible.
"THE BEATLES CONCERTS AT BUDOKAN" has never been officially released worldwide despite the rumors that there was a legitimate release in 1993 on VHS for JAPAN ONLY. In reference to this statement, I own an excellent crisp and clear picture and good sounding quality version of this concert on VHS entitled "THE BEATLES CONCERT AT BUDOKAN 1966" highlighting the 30 June 1966 Budokan show which was later televised on Japanese television after 30 June 1966. This perfect VHS recording version was unbelievably released in bootleg form in 1993 by VAP INC. Tokyo. Like "THE BEATLES AT SHEA STADIUM" in America, both BEATLES Budokan performances were professionally filmed live and later televised on Japanese television.
Being a devout hardcore diehard BEATLES fan and collector like many of you out there are, believe me when I tell you that I own just about every single VHS and DVD versions of the historic Budokan performances. After doing an extensive research by viewing and reviewing over and over all of the different VHS and DVD versions of the same two Budokan performances, my final conclusion is that despite not transferring the perfect crisp and clear 1993 VHS release to DVD, the "BEATLES CONCERTS AT BUDOKAN" has the overall best picture and sound quality available thus far. What really surprises me is that this DVD release version contains the only known good overall quality footage of the BEATLES Budokan performance videotaped on 1 July 1966.
What can I possibly say about THE BEATLES that hasn't already been said. In general speaking terms, we all know just how much THE BEATLES' music means to all of us in reference to the band's many contributions and accomplishments in popular music as well as Rock n' Roll history. We are all also very aware of the many well deserved achievements and honors THE BEATLES have received worldwide as a result of the many BEATLES contributions and accomplishments throughout their glorious reign and unsurpassed career in all of music history. Like "THE BEATLES AT SHEA STADIUM," "THE BEATLES LIVE AT THE BUDOKAN" performances would also become a legendary historic concert event that would make Rock n' Roll history. I can continue talking more about this DVD concert performance, but I would rather you read my other review dated 13 June 2006 in order to shorten this review. And now without further delay, it is now time for me to take you on a journey on the magical mystery tour back in time to 30 June 1966 and 1 July 1966 at the Budokan Hall, in Tokyo, Japan where THE BEATLES are about ready to take the stage and once again, make Rock n' Roll history.
It is now time to let the live Rock n' Roll music of THE BEATLES to speak for itself and back it up by doing all of the talking musically. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BEATLES PLAYED THE SAME SONGS IN THE SAME ORDER ON BOTH BUDOKAN PERFORMANCES. THE BEATLES would take the stage before a loud cheering Japanese audience but more tamed and controlled. After THE BEATLES would spend a few moments tuning their music instruments, the band would quickly begin by roaring into the CHUCK BERRY classic song "Rock And Roll Music," the breathtaking classic "She's A Woman," the incredible George Harrison classic composition sung by George himself, "If I Needed Someone," the unbelievable classic Rocker "Day Tripper," the slow powerful classic song "Baby's In Black," the raw and crisp classic Rocker "I Feel Fine," the beautifully slow live version of THE BEATLES classic "Yesterday," Ringo's shining moment in the spotlight singing the classic song "I Wanna Be Your Man," the slow soothing classic number "Nowhere Man," the blistering live Rockin' version of "Paperback Writer" and THE BEATLES explosive answer and response to the LITTLE RICHARD classic song "Long Tall Sally," "I'm Down." May I also add that I still do have the same opinions that I wrote on the review dated 13 June 2006 on the CD album entitled "FIVE NIGHTS IN A JUDO ARENA."
Overall, this is one great legendary historic DVD landmark concert worth seeking further research and information into and checking out for everyone of all ages whether you are a hardcore diehard BEATLES fan, music historian, a devout music collector or anybody that is curious as to what the fuss was all about in reference to the phenomenon known as THE BEATLES.
I would like to highly recommend purchasing this particular BEATLES DVD concert release to own as a valuable and important part of his or her own personal music and DVD concert collection. Despite not being officially released, this legendary historic DVD landmark concert has already proven to stand the test of time and will always be around for historic purposes to be enjoyed, appreciated and cherished for many years to come, NOW AND FOREVER. This is one historic DVD concert that no one should be without. This historic DVD concert may very well be another valuable BEATLES treasure that will become one of the most important posessions you will ever own. If you can find this particular DVD release, buy it, you'll be glad that you did.
In closing, The 1966 World Tour highlighting THE BEATLES historic Budokan performances would serve as a true testament of some of the last remaining final shows on what would be the last and final tour that THE BEATLES would ever give. In my opinion which is only speculation, I really truly believe that if THE BEATLES would have had another chance to relive the 1966 World Tour all over again on a better note, THE BEATLES would have definitely done it differently resulting in continuing their touring and possibly staying together a lot longer than 1970. Because of the many near fatalities and bad situations that were happening during the disasterous 1966 World Tour, its no wonder that THE BEATLES gave up touring forever on the bad note they had no choice to leave on. I also truly believe that THE BEATLES did not really want to give up touring. However, because of the primitive video and audio recording equipment and technology that was available during their time in the 60's, THE BEATLES could not perform live to their fullest potential. This would be the only main reason why THE BEATLES would force themselves to quit touring forever. Despite all of these setbacks, the contributions, accomplishments and achievements that THE BEATLES have made to popular music as well as Rock n' Roll speaks for itself and will never be denied. THE BEATLES incredible phenomenon has forever kept the band's legend and legacy fully intact and will never be repeated or surpassed in our lifetime. So here's to you late great John, Paul, the late great George and Ringo. Thanks for the great memories. Keep The Faith. JOHN LENNON LIVES! GEORGE HARRISON LIVES! And as the saying goes, "AND THE REST IS ROCK N' ROLL HISTORY," need I say more? Thanks for reading my review and I truly hope that you have enjoyed reading it as much as I have truly enjoyed writing it for your reading pleasure. I also hope that all of you will read all of my other reviews in the near future when time permits. THE BEATLES FOREVER. R.I.P. JOHN LENNON AND GEORGE HARRISON. Long Live Rock n' Roll. Rock out always and take it easy. Forever In Rock, John L.

This four-disc set includes two feature films and two documentaries (all previously available on DVD). Help! (1965), in which a religious sect is in pursuit of a sacrificial ring stuck on Ringo's finger, is a broad spoof of the spy flicks of the time, with James Bond-like themes and locales. Songs include "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" and "Ticket to Ride." Only two years later but strikingly different in mood and tone, Magical Mystery Tour (1967) is chiefly a series of psychedelic music videos, including "Fool on the Hill," "I Am the Walrus," and "Blue Jay Way," loosely organized around a plot of a bus trip through the English countryside.
The Beatles: The First U.S. Visit is an 83-minute black-and-white documentary by acclaimed directing brothers Albert and David Maysles that captures the group's trip to the U.S. in February 1964. It includes plenty of songs as performed on The Ed Sullivan Show, of course, as well as footage of the band riding the train or sitting in their hotel room watching television coverage of themselves. A subsequent performance in Washington, D.C., suffers from grainier footage and spotty microphones, but still captures the frenzy of the fans.
You Can't Do That!: The Making of "A Hard Day's Night" is an hourlong documentary that traces the creation of the historic 1964 film. Hosted by Phil Collins, who appeared in the original among a crowd of screaming teenagers, the film features extensive clips and interviews with those involved with the movie (though George Harrison is the only Beatle whose voice is heard). A highlight is "You Can't Do That," a performance that was cut from the original film. Obviously, a perfect DVD set would include A Hard Day's Night itself, but rights issues have kept it out of circulation. --David Horiuchi

"For Those of [Us] in the Cheaper Seats, Clap Your Hands" [for an Affordable Beatles' Collection].......2006-10-16
The value of this collection is in some ways priceless. "Imagine" a collection that could get us all five Beatles' films for an affordable price. The two-star rating isn't for the very good release, 'Help' or for the flawed, idiocyncratic, random, but sometimes groundbreaking and interesting 'Magical Mystery Tour' and all of the gravy of the accompanying "rockumentaries". Hopefully, the capitalist version of trickle down economics will materialize--the way it did for C.D. players and Walkman--when the prolitariat will be able to afford all five Beatles' (movie) DVD's, either separately or together. By the way, although the bickering on 'Let It Be' (not included here--or barely anywhere else) is legendary, so is the music. For those who have seen the last Beatle film, the strife is enlightening, but overrated. Can we have that movie, please? (For myself, I only saw it once: At a Mark Lapidos' Beatles' convention in 1980.) I hope trickle down theory works, and someday the rest of us will get the movies we want.
missing Movies.......2006-01-23
This Is an Alright set, But it is missing 3 great movies! Where is "A Hard day's Night"? The First Beatle Film. Also Where is "Let It be"? Let It Be is too hard to find! so they need to put that in there! Plus they are also Missing "Yellow Submarine" I Think they should Have put the Behind The Scenes in another set!
Fans of the wonderful Beatles will be ecstatic!.......2004-01-25
"The Making of A Hard Day's Night" is a very interesting 'Making Of" (well, of course its a Making Of!) and is hosted by Phil Collins. The Beatles are in their usual charming and funny selves and, YAY, this video introduces a song which was cut out from the film, which is, "You Can't Do That." It is one of my favorite Beatles songs and I just love the guitar intro.
"A Hard Day's Night" is a great Beatles movie and it definitely deserved a "Making Of." The Beatles are very entertaining in it and in this VHS as well. John, Paul, George, and Ringo! Aaah!
The reason why I added a four star is because I would have liked more of the Beatles. After all, they are the main cast. But then, I do understand why they didn't have them in this, because they weren't there at the time and they probably didn't have much of their behind-the-scenes stuff. Also another reason is because I think only a Beatles fan would love it. (Ahem, that reason leads me to the fact that tells me that only Beatles fans would get this...) Some parts were rather boring, but that's the only complaint I have.
My favorite part in this VHS is Abbey Road Studios where the Beatles are composing their songs for the film ("A Hard Day's Night"). John and Ringo are hilarous in it. It makes me laugh just thinking about it. Haha!
All in all, I enjoyed most of this one hour (and 5 minutes) "Making Of" with the writer, producer, director, and cast members of "A Hard Day's Night." I definitely recommend it for Beatles fans.
The Best Available DVD offering of the Beatles.......2002-07-27
Until A Hard Day's Night and Anthology are released in DVD, this, along with the remastered Yellow Submarine DVD, is basically it. You can save money by buying the packaged product. The First US Visit is like traveling in a time machine. Note how George is the only one who looks into the camera and mugs for it on the Sullivan Show debut. As far as I can tell, all the Sullivan appearances are on here.
Help! is essential for the true Beatles fan & collector. Making of AHDN is loads of fun, as well. A nice preview for the upcoming release of that cinematic classic this fall. Yes, Mystery Tour is tough to watch, though the Walrus Video established an MTV type years later. Love to have Let It Be out on DVD, as well, but no signs of that just yet.
Where's the rest?.......2002-05-10
Along with sebastian, I also wonder why "Let it Be" isn't avalable and also the excellent footage from the television special "The Beatles at Shea Stadium" some of which was also included in the "Anthology" series.
