Frank McKlusky, C.I. is the latest movie to follow in the footsteps of the Farrelly brothers (who made Dumb and Dumber and There's Something About Mary). Dave Sheridan plays the title character, an insurance claims investigator whose father (Randy Quaid), a daredevil stuntman, blew up while attempting a motorcycle jump. In response, Frank's mother (Dolly Parton) became a safety nut, forcing her children to wear padded clothing and crash helmets even when sleeping. Frank's one goal in life is to get revenge on two shyster lawyers who prevented his father from getting proper medical attention. But the plot of Frank McKlusky, C.I. is just an excuse for an endless series of tasteless jokes about the handicapped, gays, fat people, bodily functions, and Scott Baio. If this is your cup of tea, you know who you are. Featuring Andy Richter, Kevin Pollack, and Chyna of the WWE. --Bret Fetzer

Description
Comedian Dave Sheridan stars with Randy Quaid and Dolly Parton in an outrageous comedy where hilarious things happen to a claims investigator who takes his job a little too seriously! As a child, Frank McKlusky (Sheridan) watched his daredevil father "Madman" McKlusky become comatose in an ill-fated motorcycle stunt. Now as a risk-avoiding adult, he lives with his parents, always wears protective gear, and works by the Claims Investigator Handbook. Insurance fraud wiped out the family finances, but Frank's career compensates. When he suspiciously loses his partner on the job, Frank must become a master of disguise, take on a sexy new partner, and grab evidence to bust up the biggest insurance scam going.

It's probably not worth a trip to the video store, but catching this movie randomly on tv with no expectations I was pretty impressed. It's a solid second-string quirky/crude comedy, successfully blending a bunch of sketch comedy type ideas into a semi-coherent story. It's no Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, but it's better than Corky Romano. If a 40ish year old man in a wheelchair on stage at a Hanson concert trying to dance and yelling "Hanson rock" isn't your idea of funny then maybe give it a miss. 7/10.

I love this movie, and I bought this as a birthday present for my son. He loved it too. This is one of the funniest movies around and everytime I see it I find something new to laugh at. A true classic!
Great Movie.......2004-07-03
I believe that this was a great movie that people can enjoy and lift your spirits. Andy Richter was great and Dolly Parton was beautiful and Dave Sheridan was perfect. It kept me laughing all through the movie and I recommend it to all comedy fans especially Ferrally Bros. fans.
a piece of Wackness.......2004-06-19
I can see why Jim Carey even wouldn't do this film&it has his name written all over it.cliched humor&just a cheap joke of a film on a whole.ain't much to it.
Frank McKlusky: Comedy Internecine (*).......2004-04-25
After his daredevil father "Madman" McKlusky is left comatose & brain-dead after a motorcycle stunt goes horribly wrong; young Frank McKlusky is bought up to be extremely safety conscious by his overprotective mother (Dolly Parton, still looking quite sexy. Ain't botox a godsend?).
Of course all this mollycoddling has turned Frank into a big sook, and fifteen years later the grown-up Frank is still living with his mother, who insists he wear safety gear at ALL times, including a crash helmet. (Ditto Frank's dog). And his now hippie-backslash-vegetable father & his mute, agoraphobic brother Daryl who always wears a space suit. As if that isn't bad enough the entire family is addicted to reruns of old 80s sitcoms like MR. BELVEDERE & CHARLES IN CHARGE.
Frank now works as an insurance claims investigator. A job his mother feels is nice and safe for him: amusing considering whenever she hugs Frank he is nearly suffocated by her jub-jubs (not a bad way to die, really!).
The "plot" or what passes for one begins to unravel when Frank's overweight partner Dooley is found dead. It is a tragic scene: Dooley is discovered with his head dunked in a fish tank wearing nothing but his underwear. The cops declare it a "classic fat guy suicide". Case closed. But Frank remains unconvinced & with the help of his new partner Sharon (Cameron Richardson), a cute but ditzy blonde, Frank goes against the wishes of the police & his boss to find the murderer.
Written by Mark Perez & Sheridan, FRANK MCKLUSKY CI is a silly but reasonably enjoyable comedy, with cameos from Emmanuel "Webster" Lewis, Lou Ferrigno & of course; Scott Baio is soon worked into the plot- and immediately all the movies feeblest jokes begin to revolve around him. The WWE's Chyna also appears. She can body slam me any time.
The movie isn't a classic, and neither is it a flick to put on your list of movies you must see before you die; but it's not bad for killing time. The comic highlight for me is the scene where Frank goes fishing for paraplegics. That alone is worth shelling out $1 to rent the DVD. FRANK MCKLUSKY is mostly recommended to those who are old enough to remember the aforementioned sitcoms. Young kids may not get the humour in this, but generally it's pretty harmless so this is an OK movie for them to watch with guidance from an adult (unless you happen to be one of those conservative wet-blanket types). Check it out if you`re stuck at home on a rainy day or if you just need a good excuse to get out of slicing the tops off your Grandma's bunions with a potato peeler.
