Lesbian love takes a kinky turn in Mango Kiss, a romantic comedy about role playing of all kinds. Lou (Michelle Wolfe) and Sassy (Daniele Ferraro) are best friends who move to San Francisco, where they're delighted by the abundance of lesbian lifestyles. Sassy can't wait to sample the bounty, but Lou just wants Sassy--though when she gets her wish, complications begin. Mango Kiss features a host of quirky characters, ranging from tops and bottoms in the bondage scene to a couple that has replicated a 1950s male-female relationship. Fortunately, the movie doesn't just coast on quirk--the writing and acting are strong, though the story loses momentum towards the end. Mango Kiss also doesn't take itself (or the role-playing) too seriously; its satirical humor gives the movie some spark--and a couple of steamy sex scenes don't hurt either. Also featuring Sally Kirkland (Private Benjamin). --Bret Fetzer

Customer Reviews:
A Playful Film.......2007-05-04
This film can best be described as playful, cute and artsy. It's kinda like those lesbian experiences or fantasies we all had as kids. It's definatly a great film to eat junk food and get drunk to and even if your not drinking you'll still laugh your head off! Although it is not the best film and you may not watch it as much as the others, it will always be nice to see one that just celebrates us lesbians rather than the "we gotta keep it in the closet" stuff. It may be a straight world out there but we can still have the same enjoyment of playful romantic comedies.
playful drama.......2006-06-30
It is hard to find lesbian films that veer from the norm. Having low budgets and time constraints, they often are taken as falling short of mainstream art. However working within those parametors, the movie was great. Role playing, comedy, and truthfulness added depth to this project that was 4 years in the making. Yes, the situations were over exaggerated, sometimes campy but the actors brought to life the essence of this story. We all role play--we just call it by a different name. In the "real world" people do experiment with sex- do we label that kinky? If we like to wear jeans and baggy pants does that signal being a dyke/butch? If we are in love with someone but hide behind our feelings are we being truthful to ourselves? The chemistry between Lou (Michelle Wolff) and Sassy (Daniele Ferraro) was evident, sexy, but yet serious. The film proved credible by bringing these 2 out of character in the last scenes. In making mistakes they could at least salvage a relationship instead of walking away with regrets. Watch the behind the scenes footage and you will appreciate the characters. Hats off to Sascha Rice.
Run and hide.......2006-04-25
I have a list of lesbian movies that I am interested in buying over the next few months or so. Fortunately a friend of mine bought this movie before I had a chance to consider it as it was quite frankly the biggest load of crap I have ever seen.
Look, I must admit, I am not one for stereotypical butch and femme relationships so for starters that was a HUGE no-no for me. That just added to the fact that just about everything else in the movie was badly done.
Harsh maybe, but if like me you live in the lipstick lesbian world and loved movies like Saving Face, this one is definitely not for you.
uhh.....not what I expected.......2005-11-11
I have seen worse, it's a little weird! When I first watched it I thought it was good because I hadn't seen very many lesbian films, now that I have I don't think it is very good. It's okay but lets put it this way I watched it once and it's been on the shelf ever since!
A Must See.......2005-08-16
A passionate playful wonderful artistic piece. While it may not be for those uptight about kinky sex it is a masterpiece for lesbians who appreciate playful sex and fun dramatic characters with a creative plot. A little fun never hurts anyone and this is just a fun, creative piece to get one's juices flowing. If you're looking for a more serious film this is not for you, but every bit of this deserves at least a 4 star rating no matter what your tastes are.
