One fascinating element in this picture is the portrayal of those relationships that could be only suggested in a period of tighter censorship, such as Peter Sellers's TV personality and Kenneth Griffith as his dresser, whose gay relationship is only faintly etched in here. More overt is the characterization of a masculine-looking authoress, known only by her initials, but sporting Agatha Christie's hairdo. You can't judge a book, or in this case, a movie, by its cover. From prior reviews, I knew beforehand that THE NAKED TRUTH was not, as the title may suggest, risque. As the credits begin rolling, I was surprised to discover the title either didn't go over well with British audiences or the movie was renamed for more impact. Don't be surprised when the title sequence names the film YOUR PAST IS SHOWING.

THE NAKED TRUTH is, as Lord Mayley (Terry-Thomas) says, "a rather vulgar" title for a scandal magazine. It's editor, Nigel Dennis (Dennis Price), digs up dirt on prominent victims and blackmails them with a sample issue. With the oft-repeated phase, "Pay in a fortnight or I publish in a month," the targets of his extortion are left in suicidal despair. Led by multiple disguises of Sonny MacGregor (Peter Sellers), several would-be victims, including Melissa Right (Shirley Eaton of GOLDFINGER fame) revolt with a plethora of unsuccessful murder plots against Dennis.

Armed with British humor, prepare for numerous disguises, madcap adventures, and unexpected surprises.

This is one of my favorite comedies, not far behind other British offerings from the 50's and 60's, such as Make Mine Mink.

In this madcap farce, a group of hapless people find themselves being blackmailed by a sleazy tabloid publisher played to perfection by Dennis Price. The blackmail victims independently and jointly decide to "eliminate" their problem. But since none of them are murderers by nature, their attempts end up more in bungled backfire than in relief.

The first problem they face is obtaining the means to do the deed. Peter Sellers is featured in one of the funniest scenes as he crosses over to Ireland assuming he can readily obtain some bomb material there from the notoriously explosive Irish rebels. He goes into a typical Irish pub, sprouting shamrocks from his lapels, confident of passing as a true Irish patriot in their midst. But of course, it doesn't quite work out that way. The Irish townspeople in the pub all too readily "smell the blood of an Englishman" and respond accordingly.

Every comedy needs a straight-man (woman) and in this movie, that part is filled by Georgina Cookson who plays the wife of Terry-Thomas in his role as Lord Mayley. Lady Mayley is coolly long-suffering, used to expecting very little from her wastrel husband. Terry-Thomas, not wanting to add fuel to her disaffection, tries to slip past her every night as he returns, defeated from his night's misadventures. He doesn't succeed. She catches him time and again sneaking up the staircase, covered in seaweed, showing other ludicrous dishevelments.

When Norman Cousins adopted the philosophy that "laughter is the best medicine," he fought againt his disease with all the comedy films he could muster. I hope he included The Naked Truth and the other Rank Studio comedies in his armamentarium. If watching this doesn't cure what ails you, nothing will.

"The Naked Truth", also known as "Your Past is Showing" is one of those hilariously daffy comedies that Britain seemed to turn out with great regularity in the 50s and into the 60s. The premise is quite outlandish and "over-the-top", but--hey--it's a comedy with never a dull moment, so who cares ?

First I must begin with a confession--I am a life-long, diehard Terry-Thomas fan. Since this film gives him one of his best roles, my review might be a bit prejudiced ! He is "Lord Mayley", a self-important, pompous English peer, who suddenly finds himself being blackmailed by Nigel Dennis ( wonderfully smarmy Dennis Price ), a dirt-digging journalist and publisher of a scandal tabloid, "The Naked Truth". It seems that Lord Mayley has not always been a "faithful husband", and his escapades will be printed for the world to see--unless, of course, he pays 10,000 pounds to slimy Nigel !

Nigel also has other "victims". Obnoxious "Scottish" television personality, Sonny MacGregor (the superb Peter Sellers )--mystery writer, Flora Ransom (formidable Peggy Mount)--and, hoping to marry her American oil-millionaire boyfriend, Melissa Wright (lovely Shirley Eaton).

All of these people individually, later collectively, make hilarious attempts to do away with the odious Nigel Dennis, usually with crazy ideas that backfire very badly. The ending is a genuine rib-tickler.

For Peter Sellers' fans, he has a field day with various disguises and accents, so that he can get close to the nasty Mr. Dennis without being detected. The supporting cast also includes future "Carry On" legend, Joan Sims, as Ethel, Flora Ransom's "scattered" daughter. Dennis Price deserves more kudos--the whole film revolves around his smug, sleazy character--"please don't appeal to my better nature--I don't have one !"

The picture is a black and white, letterbox format--I found the quality to be excellent. The sound is, of course, mono. There are no extras--I would have loved some "memories" from Ms. Eaton.

If you like British comedies with a really witty script, and amusing performances from a fine cast, "The Naked Truth" or "Your Past is Showing"--whichever title you prefer--belongs in your DVD collection. With Mr. Thomas and Mr. Sellers waiting to tickle your funny bone, push that "buy immediately" button, and let Amazon send you this "chucklefest" !

The selling point for "The Naked Truth" is that it features a young Peter Sellers. Truth be told this is more of an ensemble effort and not what you would call a break-out role for Sellers. Sellers as a "Scottish" television personality is given the opportunity to employ a number of disguises and voice characterizations that are amusing but not fitfully so. The film's central premise of a group of prominent Brits who conspire to dispatch a blackmailing tabloid publisher(Dennis Price of "Kind Hearts and Coronets") is played more for broad slapstick than for the macabre dark comedy of classic Ealing comedies. These observations aside this is a highly enjoyable film with a good laugh quotient. Solid cast also includes the irrepressible Terry-Thomas and Shirley Eaton("Goldfinger").

THIS MOVIE WAS OKAY. IT IS A LOW BUDGET PLAYER CLUB, BUT ITS STILL WATCHABLE. THE ACTING WAS'NT GRADE A, BUT THE MOVIE DOSES HAVE A INTERESTING STORY LINE. ITS SAID WHAT HAPPENS TO CREAM. I WOULD SUGGEST PEOPLE BUY THE MOVIE. ITS WORTH WATCHING AT LEAST ONCE.

Ki Toy Johnson Was in the movie for like 3 secs, she didnt get naked, when she started to dance she taken off the stage. I'm from ATl, GA and i've seen the same chicks they show nude in this film cant even get hired at an ATL strip club, even if they gave it up as easily as they did in the movie. But if the purpose of this film was to mislead Ki Toy fans into purchasing a KiToy film he did a good job, but she was not the star in the movie, her name was just in the credits. Also, this film CANNOT even compare to Ice Cube's Player's Club.

This movie is hot. You see a lot of hot women shaking their thang, and at the same time you get a really good story. Unlike other movies where strippers are protrayed as one-dimensional people, the director manages to portray each stripper as a person and a dancer. Some of these women are really hot looking. Some of the acting isn't so good, and some of the acting is pretty good, but it all comes together quite nicely in the end. Watch this movie if you want to see women dancing on poles, and you want to get a good story out of it. Another thing, this movie is realistic.

The Naked Truth is so similar to The Players, but The Players Club would earn more stars. If you enjoyed Players Club, you will like this one too. It stars Ki Toy Johnson, Tiana Jackson, Leland Jones and Trinita Turner. It features music by Thugz Nation, 285, 404 Soldierz, The Ivey Boyz and Juvenile. The cover has the San Francisco Black Film Festival seal for official selection displayed.

The G-Spot is an Atlanta Strip Club that is corrupt. The story focuses on three shake dancers that go by the names Cream, Cat and Belinda. There is a lot of footage of the dancers performing, which may mislead the viewer in the beginning. One may tend to think that the movie is all about flesh, sex, drugs and corruption...but eventually the movie gets into some substance to hold your attention and carry the storyline through. Salem (the club's owner) seems to be all about the money. He has Cream doing more than dancing for him, so I guess he could be called a Pimp too. He installs video cameras so that he can see everything that happens at The G-Spot. He has a cop on his payroll too which leads to murder and mystery. The movie has a few redeeming qualities at the end. One dancer graduates and gets out of the business. A former gay dancer, current cashier turns her life around for the better after her lover is killed. The narrator of the story breaks it down to the naked truth.

The video features various "candid camera"-like skits in which some lucky man is tricked into taking on a temporary job or errand or some sort. In the course of performing his duties, he inevitably runs into a woman wearing too little clothing.
In my favorite scene, a woman walks into an office for an interview (given by the unsuspecting guy). She excuses herself to go change clothes since she didn't have time to prepare, so she steps into the restroom. After a few seconds, she stunningly sprints out completely naked to grab something from her purse, which she's left sitting in the lobby area. However when she does this the door to the restroom slams shut and locks, leaving her stranded in the lobby wearing nothing at all! Needless to say, the guy is totally shocked. The young woman, who is very attractive, tries hard to cover herself with her bare hands. At first she squats against the wall but later gets some courage and stands up, still trying to cover her [...] with her hands. Eventually, she gives up and just stands there letting the guy (and us) enjoy her beautiful body. To add some spice to the situation, the guy's "boss" then walks in and discovers his employee standing there with a naked woman in the lobby! The plot is then revealed to the victim with the usual laughs. If you're looking for porn, then this isn't the video for you. However, it has a different kind of sexiness to it, since you get to see women in everyday situations, except without any clothes on. The fact that they're the only ones naked makes it really stand out.

The picture quality was great. To bad the movie went down from there. Writing was a little weak and boring. A lot of sides and rear shots. There was plenty of times it could have been interesting, but it never happen. If you have nothing else to watch, it might be good.

I was looking forward to this one, because I was a fan of the old Allen Funt Playboy's Candid Camera. This DVD might have been satisfying had it been watchable.

From the very moment I put it into the DVD player, it skipped and got stuck continually. This happened in spite of the fact that the disk was brand new and didn't have a scratch on it anywhere.

Its a region 1 DVD, which is suppsed to be compatible with my machine. Moreover, all of my other DVDs played perfectly. This is the first DVD I have seen with problems of this magnitude. Attempts at troubleshooting made it worse.

In addition, this DVD, like most Playboy videos, has no extras, deleted scenes, or behind the scenes footage (not that you would be able to see them though all of the blurring and skipping.

But wait! There's more! I almost had to have a crowbar to get it out of its case, a fact which may have led to this DVD's poor performance.

I tried exchanging the DVD and the replacement was worse.

The bottom line: this is a waste of money and a complete piece of crap.

There is so much fun to look at the faces of men having the most lucky day of their life. And it's also wonderful to see beautiful naked women staying still, instead of jumping around all the time.

You know a film is a flop when its sole selling point is the inclusion of cameos by several C-list actors. It's the last resort when a movie maker knows they have a stinker on their hands with nothing resembling an actual plot or humor. That's the naked truth folks.

This piece of celluloid is what you get when you take "Bosom Buddies" and "The Naked Gun" and have them stripped of everything funny. This is the type of film where a character says "Black Russian" to a bartender and the white bartender responds saying that he's just "really tan". Was that ever funny...ever? This is the type of film where two gentlemen are in side-by-side helicopters and one guy asks the other if he has some Grey Poupon. This is the type of film where some guy ignores a bunch of good-looking women in skimpy swimsuits and instead gets all hot and bothered by some dude in drag.

In short, this is the type of film that doesn't have even a shred of originality and would be destroyed if we lived in a civilized society. I can understand the likes of Bubba Smith, Lou Ferrigno and Zsa Zsa Gabor showing up in junk like this. The saddest moment for me, however, was seeing the wonderfully talented Yvonne De Carlo make an appearance. She deserved to be given more roles in the '90s but not in trash such as "The Naked Truth".

Kinda' silly- kinda' fun - "The Naked Truth" (not to be confused with the Peter Sellers comedy ages ago) is one of those little oddities that defies easy description - ostensibly a take-off on "Some Like It Hot" (with mild nudity and lots of skimpy bikinis) this early-90's indie goes for easy laughs (and scores) with a cast of your favorite and former-favorite TV stars, and a couple of newcomers - Robert Caso and Kevin Schon (the first movie credit for both actors.)

Some clever set-ups and surprising cameos (Lou Ferrigno and David Birney as FBI agents - that's creative!) and veteran character actor M. Emmet Walsh as FBI Chief Gesundheit and "Murder She Wrote's" (late) Herb Edelman as the evil ketchup tycoon Rupert Hess. The comedy conjures early Mel Brooks - broad and silly, but without the sophistication. Still, subtle send-ups of the tacky L.A. celebrity life-style (omnipresent cell phones, a pink stretch limo with a bubble bath hot tub, valet parking for airliners) lend a knowingly mocking tone to the proceedings. As in most films of this type the plot is dispensible - the jokes are the point and they are frequent and surprisingly funny.

The camera work is excellent -with a stand out helicpoter sequence involving Little Richard (!) You don't usually expect high production values in a low-budget film like this, but they are present here.

You really can't go wrong for the price, and this is a genuine bargain for collectors of odd little films staring famous actors.

This movie is great. I was thrilled to find out it was on DVD. The page says Erik Estrada is the star, but the real stars are Robert Caso and Kevin Schon (who?). The other stars are: Courtney Gibbs, Herb Edelman, Brian Thompson (the guy who kinda looks like Arnold Schwarznegger), and the great M. Emmet Walsh. one of the funniest black comedies ever made. the whole film is a satiric grotesque. imagine political correctness, bondiana, "some like it hot", "tutsi", "casablanca" and LA attitude all mixed up in one film. stupidest puns look and sound so real, that it makes you laugh really hard :-) if you like "naked gun", "hairspray" or "pink flamingoes" you will undoubtedly have fun with "naked truth".

      I like the movie and the main reason I bought the movie. is because of Shannon Tweed. I think she is a great actress and model.

      You know a film is a flop when its sole selling point is the inclusion of cameos by several C-list actors. It's the last resort when a movie maker knows they have a stinker on their hands with nothing resembling an actual plot or humor. That's the naked truth folks.

      This piece of celluloid is what you get when you take "Bosom Buddies" and "The Naked Gun" and have them stripped of everything funny. This is the type of film where a character says "Black Russian" to a bartender and the white bartender responds saying that he's just "really tan". Was that ever funny...ever? This is the type of film where two gentlemen are in side-by-side helicopters and one guy asks the other if he has some Grey Poupon. This is the type of film where some guy ignores a bunch of good-looking women in skimpy swimsuits and instead gets all hot and bothered by some dude in drag.

      In short, this is the type of film that doesn't have even a shred of originality and would be destroyed if we lived in a civilized society. I can understand the likes of Bubba Smith, Lou Ferrigno and Zsa Zsa Gabor showing up in junk like this. The saddest moment for me, however, was seeing the wonderfully talented Yvonne De Carlo make an appearance. She deserved to be given more roles in the '90s but not in trash such as "The Naked Truth".

      Kinda' silly- kinda' fun - "The Naked Truth" (not to be confused with the Peter Sellers comedy ages ago) is one of those little oddities that defies easy description - ostensibly a take-off on "Some Like It Hot" (with mild nudity and lots of skimpy bikinis) this early-90's indie goes for easy laughs (and scores) with a cast of your favorite and former-favorite TV stars, and a couple of newcomers - Robert Caso and Kevin Schon (the first movie credit for both actors.)

      Some clever set-ups and surprising cameos (Lou Ferrigno and David Birney as FBI agents - that's creative!) and veteran character actor M. Emmet Walsh as FBI Chief Gesundheit and "Murder She Wrote's" (late) Herb Edelman as the evil ketchup tycoon Rupert Hess. The comedy conjures early Mel Brooks - broad and silly, but without the sophistication. Still, subtle send-ups of the tacky L.A. celebrity life-style (omnipresent cell phones, a pink stretch limo with a bubble bath hot tub, valet parking for airliners) lend a knowingly mocking tone to the proceedings. As in most films of this type the plot is dispensible - the jokes are the point and they are frequent and surprisingly funny.

      The camera work is excellent -with a stand out helicpoter sequence involving Little Richard (!) You don't usually expect high production values in a low-budget film like this, but they are present here.

      You really can't go wrong for the price, and this is a genuine bargain for collectors of odd little films staring famous actors.

          This is a live performance DVD filmed at a small cafe in Amsterdam, 1992. This is taken from the last night of a string of three "unplugged" shows Golden Earring did for a small audience of fans, friends and family. You get to see them perform an additional 5 songs not on the audio CD of the same title. The sound (Dolby 5.1 or stereo) and picture quality (widescreen) are excellent. There's also a biography, photo gallery, lyrics, and 3 bonus audio tracks from their "Face It" CD.

          Now for some bad news. This DVD is a Region 2/PAL import, not NTSC as Amazon's description states - Golden Earring has yet to release any of it's DVD's outside of Europe. Although most of their DVD's have been Region Free(0)/PAL, this one isn't. So, if you intend to watch this on a TV in the U.S., only purchase it if you have a region free DVD player that also has a built-in PAL to NTSC converter (I recommend Pioneer's DV-383S for about $100). It will also play in any computer DVD drive that lets you change the drive's region, with the player software (PowerDVD, WinDVD) automatically handling the PAL conversion, but you'll be limited to watching it on your computer monitor.
