Excellent Production by Tyler Perry.......2007-05-21
Very funny! High quality video. I felt like I was in the audience of the actual stage play. Great performances by the cast!
Meet the Browns.......2007-01-28
Having viewed many of Tylers shows, I must admit that "Meet the Browns"
did NOT!!! prove to be as entertaining as the other shows. It seems as if the plot just could find its FEET.... or shall I say Madea just was not in the room and you really noticed her being missing.... The performers gave their best but Mr Brown just couldn't save the "One man Show". Strongly suggest viewing this show 1st on rental then Purchase....
Madea has changed my life.......2007-01-10
i love madea and her messages even though she isn't in this movie it is still a great play
Introduction to Laughter!.......2006-07-01
This play was funny! I didn't think that I would like a play without Madea but I was wrong!
First of all, Mr. Brown is always funny, he bounces off of Madea and vice versa. Cora takes up where Madea leaves with a gun in her purse. The actors are all good singers and play their roles very well.
I especially loved the sister Vera who drinks throughout the play and is in love with the Reverend. The scene that she has with her son who is a doctor is too funny.
This is a must see especially the song Will you love on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday et. I loved this play! All of the actors were wonderful.
Family loved it.......2006-06-22
As with any other Tyler Perry production my family loved this. It's a great spin-off to Madea.

funny and moving.......2005-06-03
I loved this movie. I was able to watch it with my family and dicuss differnt parts as they relate.I was crying so hard from laughing. This is good for all ages, but tou have to have a sense of hummer. If your old and bitter, you'll hate it. It's about letting loose and enjoying, don't read to much into it.
Family .......2005-03-14
What can I say, it's Tyler Perry! It was very good and much humor, even though Medea was very much missed. It had its moments where it dragged out too long, but it was more good moments than bad. This had you thinking about how you and your family would act in certain situations. I enjoyed it very much and can't wait until the next Tyler Perry play/movie.
Meet the Clowns.......2005-01-02
I don't think this was funny at all. A lot of overt expressions of unnecessary sass, shuffling, and forced nuevo-negro antics. I'm pretty sure that the same writers who wrote such comedic eye sores as "Brothers from Out of Space" and "The Secret Diary of Desmond Pfeiffer" wrote this piece stepin' fetch drivel.
This is the first work I have seen from Tyler Perry, but after viewing the trailer for Diary of a Mad Black Woman I don't anticipate it getting any better. Okay let's create a movie that rips of Big Momma's House, Soul Food, Jason's Lyric then call it your own. Casting Shemar Moore as a street dude? Hilarious. This is exactly what movies like Dancing in September and Bamboozled were talking about.
The one or two shining points of Meet the Browns was the song, "I want a good man", which was very powerful, moving, and soulful song (reminded me of Jill Scott or soul jazz underground success Lady Alba). I did laugh when Mr. Brown did a hand stand mimicking what one of the characters looked like, as the character as a child swam perpendicular to the plane of the pool due to his big ole' head.
kiawest.......2004-12-23
Meet The Browns was OKAY. I enjoyed it up until the funeral scene. The funeral scene was a bit much and got a little ridiculous but for the must part if you enjoy Tamala and David Mann's performances you'll enjoy this.
Diary of Mad Black People .......2004-12-21
I own every available Tyler Perry play so I was really looking forward to this one.
Some of the actors in "Meet the Browns" were seen in other plays and they are talented people but this was not an appropriate play to showcase their talent. It was true buffoonery. They might as well bring back Amos and Andy. I truly felt sorry for the Manns who obviously tried so hard to perform under such terrible conditions.
There seemed to be a story line but I'm not sure what it was since it was lost with all the screaming, berating and bad jokes. It was a poor attempt at trying to reproduce a Madea play. I'm very disappointed that I bought the DVD and I thank God I didn't spend money to go to the theatre to see the play.

Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns..........2007-06-02
More class family entertainment from Tyler Perry. Meet the Browns is a funny play - gets the messages across, too!
East Meets West.......2006-10-28
Tyler Perry's "Meet The Browns" is hilarious! David and Tamara Mann and Nicci Gilbert and company are comedy at it best.
This play starts with Pop Brown death. Mr. Brown's brother (L.B.) and his wife Sarah call their daughter Ma-Lay to find out if the 107 year old Pop Brown is dead or not. They have not called the undertaker or police; Ma-Lay comes in and verifies that he is indeed dead. They stay up all night calling relatives and friends to let them know. Mr. Brown uses the occasion to introduce his family to his daughter Cora. Well, the laughter begins when they find out that Cora is Madea Simmons' daughter.
Mr. Brown's sister Vera (Nicci Gilbert)who was drunk when she got the phone call, thinks that Mr. Brown is dead. She comes in crying "they done took my brother from me". When she finds out that it is her father the drama begins. They make funeral arrangements (Vera is in love with the Reverend Oliver - who is in love with Cora). Vera's son Will and his wife Kim find themselves in a love triangle with a woman who pretends to befriend the family (Trina Braxton).
The funeral proves to be one that you will never forget. Tyler Perry is not in the play, but it is a gut buster all the same.
It was still worth it!!.......2005-04-09
It was still funny even though Madea is not in the play. You just hav to pay attantion to the play. The script is good. I enjoyed the play.
Brown is a Star.......2005-04-03
I thought that this play was including Madea but even with her not in it there was no laughter losed. This play is a hilarious they discuss: sex, love, forgiveness. I love Perry's plays. This and Class Reunion are my favorites. Can't wait to see Madea goes to Jail.
Wow!!!!.......2005-03-17
This is one of Tyler Perry's best efforts....I mean after I watched Diary of a Mad Black Women-Play....I thought wow-can anything thing be funnier but I was in for a treat when I saw Meet the Brown's....Brown was in rare form and his choice of clothing was true Brown fashion...Cora comes back in this episode as she meets her long lost family and just when you think she's more like them than Madea she has a "Madea Moment"! I truely laughed myself to death....this is a must see!
