WEAK SPECIAL EDITION!.......2007-01-22

This is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Unfortunatly, this is an extremely weak special edition! All the extras include are a outtake reel, deleted scenes, and production notes. They should also have put on a commentary, theatrical trailer, behind-the-scenes or retrospective featurette, and probably some other things. But they shouldn't say 'special edition", they should say remasterd version, or something else instead. But unfortunatley, this was a dissapointment to fans of adam sandler along with Bill Madison, but at least it just passed over "barebones". Be grateful for that!Movie:B+ Extras:C-

Ok To Watch Once.......2007-01-12

I am a big fan of Adam Sandler movies and I had not seen this movie until now. This movie is about a guy named Happy Gilmore. Gilmore has not wanted anything his whole life but to be a hockey player. Gilmore can't skate in the ice rink very well which is what always stops him from becoming a professional hockey player. A golf talent notices how far Gilmore can hit a golf ball and gets Gilmore involved in golf. There are some funny scenes in this movie. Some of the humor though is dirty or just not funny.

Basically in this movie, Adam Sandler acts like he does in all of following movies like Big Daddy and Mr. Deeds - a guy who is tough, but nice on the inside and always falls in love with a woman. However, as the years go on, Adam Sandler has polished himself and his character has geniunly become more likable with each movie.

Description

Yes this is a really great fun type of movie from the mid Sixties (when the world was more innocent and safer place) Not sure I would want to hang around on the beach in Fort Lauderdale now. Anyway I digress - it's great to have this available on DVD along with the cut song "Startin Tonight" that was noticeably absent from recent VHS releases. In fact Warner's have come up trumps with all these new DVD releases, as the majority of them are really good happy go lucky fims.

Don't like Elvis, but this movie is AWESOME!.......2007-06-06

I admit I am not an Elvis fan at all. As matter of fact, this is the only Elvis movie I have ever seen. BUT this movie is great! Every song is upbeat and fun. You get the first song stuck in your head, then you hear the next song then IT gets stuck in your head, until the end of the movie when you have every song stuck in your head. The storyline is wonderful too. I can relate to every character, even Elvis. I am only 24, but first saw this movie in my teens and it was load of fun then too. A must have for anybody who likes fun tunes, witty humor, and a movie to talk about that many people don't know about (unfortunately). FINALLY on DVD, too. My VHS player was having a breakdown and the tape has just about had it!

I love every second of this film. Elvis is at his peak and Shelley Fabares is at her most beautiful. The supporting cast is also great: Gary Crosby, Jimmy Hawkins, Joby Baker, Nita Talbot, Harold J. Stone, Chris Noel, Mary Ann Mobley. Every song is great and the chemistry between Elvis & Shelley really shows strong here. No Elvis movie collection should be complete without his best film. I give it an 11 out of 10!

Adam Sandler's "Happy Gilmore" is a very funny movie that I watch on a regular basis. It's very amusing and I consider it to be one of Adam Sandler's best movies. However, the DVD of "Happy Gilmore" is the worst DVD I own in terms of bonus material and extras. The DVD only comes with four bonuses, one of witch being the theatrical trailer. The other three are production notes, bios, and film highlights. None of these three bonuses are actually watch able. They're just written out and have to be read like an ordinary text. There is no commentary on the movie, or anything like that. Reading the bonuses is relatively irritating. However, since I bought the DVD for the movie, not the extras, I still give it 4/5 stars.

This by far is the best Adam Sandler movie ever. I don't know who the blonde chick is in this movie, but she is hot. Chubbs played by Carl Weathers make the show flow with comedic action.

Some Things That All Golfers Wish They Could Do....Sort Of!.......2006-05-01

A "pro" golfer duking it out with veteran game-show host Bob Barker right in the middle of a tournament. That scene alone makes this one of the more memorable comedies of the last 30 years. Almost everyone I know has either seen or heard of that scene and everyone laughs at it.

It IS ludicrous and that's what makes it so funny. In fact, most of the movie is totally preposterous, totally unbelievable and totally wacky, which is Adam Sandler's trademark in these comedies. He's low key but violent, as he was in Mr. Deeds, Punch-Drunk Love and a few other films.

Here, Sander is even more vocal and violent than normal and definitely more crude, which is saying something since this actor usually doesn't play guys with a lot of class. "Happy" is a hot-tempered hockey player who can hit a golf ball 400 yards so he tries his hand on the PGA tour to help raise money for his grandmother. I just shake my head even writing that last sentence, it sounds so stupid....but this is a stupid movie with an incredibly stupid story but is hilarious, for the most part.

Anyone who is a golfer would appreciate this movie more than others, because Sandler says and does things we'd all like to do on the links at times but, thankfully, don't. In short: this is a crude but very funny movie.

This movie looks great in hd. The background from the golf courses shows the most improvement in the transfer. Not the best movie in HD DVD but definately worth it.

For Adam Sandler fans only, this dopey comedy features the former Saturday Night Live star as an overindulged rich guy whose father insists he repeat grades 1 through 12 before taking over the family business. The scenario is perfect for Sandler's infantile leanings (which he has fortunately outgrown in more recent movies), and for the most part the jokes about being too old and too big for the experiment are obvious. Chris Farley and Steve Buscemi turn up in uncredited cameo appearances, but otherwise the film is pretty dismissible, except for those diehards who can't get enough of Sandler. --Tom Keogh

I'll write a short review, both these films were fantastic and it shows us why Adam Sandler was one of the best and funniest cast members from SNL, Sandler's dumb and juvinile humor is perfect for these films so just kick back and enjoy don't take these films too seriously. Billy, the heir to the Madison hotel millions has wasted his life with booze, partying and hanging out with his dumb and lazy friends since leaving school.
When he discovers his father's plan to turn his fortune over to his Vice president, Billy decides to go back to school and make up for lost time. Very funny scenes involving Billy interacting with the young kids who all seem to think that hes slightly retarded and one scene that I thought was priceless was when a car with a family who all seem to be bullies slips on a banana peal and falls of a cliff while there still chanting O'Doyle rules, I guess you have to be in a silly mood to enjoy this or a good sense of humor.
Happy Gilmore is an ice hockey player with a bad temper his confrontational attitude is what gets him kicked out from the team so Gilmore tries golf instead and gets trained by Chubbs (hilarious role by Carl Weathers) also check out the annoying Shooter McGavin who is Gilmore's rival and Kevin Nealon whos low key performance was hillarious I had tears in my eyes. You also get the fantastic fight scene with T.V. show host Bob Barker. Yes both movies are dumb but they are slapstick goofball comedies and you are gaurnteed to enjoy them, I definetly recomend these films for a good laugh.

My advice for anyone who wants to buy this two dvd set is to keep Happy Gilmore, one of the funniest movies ever made, and sell Patch Adams on Ebay. Happy would be five stars, but I had to take one away for having Patch Adams in the dvd set.

Heavy-metal golf with Adam Sandler, a 1996 dry run of the wild-man-athlete formula that paid off so handsomely in The Waterboy. There are some irresistibly funny sequences, although you may hate yourself for laughing at the mean-spirited slapstick. This isn't a classic golf comedy, like the Bill Murray vehicle Caddyshack, but as a hot-tempered would- be hockey player who finds an unexpected métier as a power golfer, Sandler has a short-fuse shtick that's effectively deployed. He's like a punk rocker gleefully out of his element, puncturing the country-club atmosphere by using the fairway as a private mosh pit. The action gets repetitive beyond the midpoint, and a subplot involving Gilmore's lovable grandma and her problems with the IRS is dismayingly sappy. Sandler's iconoclasm is mostly window dressing; there's no conceptual or satirical daring in his kind of "outrageousness." The strong supporting cast includes Christopher McDonald as Gilmore's smug rival on the links, Julie Bowen as a perky publicist, and, in a memorable bout of fisticuffs with our hero, game-show host Bob Barker.
